Sallie Kathryn Bush

Pacifica, Calif., resident Sallie Kathryn Bush died Thursday in Daly City, Calif. She was 90.

Mrs. Bush was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Comanche, Texas, to Robert Randall Potter and Charlsea (Talley) Potter. She married Leon L. Bush.

She worked for Pratt Whitney in Kansas City, Mo., during World War II and also worked as a waitress for several restaurants in Shawnee.

She had lived in Pacifica for the past two years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Bob Kelly, Pacifica; brother and sister, Jeff and Edith Potter; and sister, Cora Kitchel, Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leon Bush on June 24, 1985; sister, Donna Anderson; and four brothers, John Potter, Clarence Potter, Herman Potter and Sherman Potter.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Resthaven Memorial Park Trinity Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Lois V. Hixson

Longtime Shawnee resident Lois V. Hixson died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 86.

Mrs. Hixson was born March 3, 1914, in Conway County, Ark., to William Everett Kelley and Nora (Hale) Kelley. She married Johnie M. Hixson on May 14, 1927, in Chandler.

She retired from Shawnee Medical Center where she was a housekeeper for 12 years. She also worked several years with the Newton Wall Co. of Shawnee.

She was a member of the Central Church of Christ where she was active in the ladies Bible class. She was a former member of the East Main Church of Christ and worked with Meals on Wheels of Shawnee for several years.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Floyd Davis, Shawnee; two sons and daughters-in-law, J.M. and Wilma Hixson, Shawnee, and Dennis and Missy Hixson, Farmington, Ark.; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, LaNita and Keith Lough, Lindsay, Melody and Tom Winn, Shawnee, Tammie and Tom Learned, Harvest, Ala., Randall Hixson, Shawnee, Lorrie and Paul Hartley, Choctaw, Dennis Hixson Jr. and Amy, Little Rock, Ark., and John Hixson, Mark Hixson and Sarah Hixson, all of Maumelle, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Eugene Hixson; four brothers; four sisters; and two grandsons, Terry Keith Hixson and Steve Davis.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Central Church of Christ with Dwayne Dennis and Don Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel in charge of the service.

Katherine Wischner

Katherine "Kitty" Wischner died Sunday in Edmond. She was 86.

A former resident of Lambertville, N.J., Mrs. Wischner was born in Elizabeth, N.J. She lived in McLoud for 20 years and had been a resident of Edmond for the past three years.

She worked for the state of New Jersey Department of the Treasury as a principal clerk. She retired in 1976.

She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Edmond and was a 10-year member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, McLoud, where she was a member of its Altar Society. She also was a past member of the Fleetwing Fire Department Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge in Lambertville, N.J.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, McLoud.

She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Dorothy Pykish Bilyk and wife of the late Edward Wischner of Sergeantsville, N.J. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1972.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and George Bilyk; and sisters, Anna Sutterly, Dorothy Kerling and Marion Thorne.

Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Charlotte Ellmers of Williamstown, N.J.; daughter and son-in-law, Dolores and Joseph Yannarella Sr. of Edmond; four grandchildren, Ruth Burke of Phoenix, Ariz.; Stephen Ellmers of Williamstown, N.J.; Joseph Yannarella Jr., of Manalapan, N.J. and Dawn Newton of Kaiserslautern, Germany; three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Tia Newton of Kaiserslautern and Mystee Yannarella of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Dorothy Glide of Sergeantsville, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be 11 a.m. today at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, McLoud. Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, N.J. There will be no calling hours.

Johnie L. Lewis

Johnie L. Lewis died Friday in Davis. He was 96.

Lewis was born Oct. 10, 1903, in Welty to John Lewis and Tenna Morse.

He was a lifelong resident of the Okemah and Welty areas and was a member of the Okemah Roundup Club. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his son, Wilford Lewis, Davis; daughter, Alma Fredman, Shawnee; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and many other friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Church of Christ in Okemah with Roger Thompson and Thomas Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Welty Cemetery under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home, Okemah.

Dorothy K. Littrell

Okemah resident Dorothy K. Littrell died Monday in Garland, Texas. She was 92.

Mrs. Littrell was born Jan. 30, 1908, in Prague to John D. and Bertha Ryan Keaton. She attended high school and community college in Muskogee.

She and her first husband, Homer L. Wilson, owned and operated the Piggly Wiggly Grocery and Feed in Okemah in the 1930s. Her husband preceded her in death in the 1940s.

She then married T.R. Littrell in 1953. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1993.

She had served as bookkeeper and buyer for Aranson's retail store in Duncan. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, was a chapter regent and registrar of Daughters of the American Revolution, member and treasurer of the Okfuskee County Historical Society and member of the Eastern Star. She also was active in the American Legion and served on the County Election Board.

Survivors include her brother, William Cornelius Keaton, Marble Falls, Texas; sister, Maureen D. Haggin, El Paso, Texas; daughter-in-law, Oleta Wilson, Waurika; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, two grandsons, one sister and one brother.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clem Dozer officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Lina Powell Harjo

Lina Powell Harjo of Seminole died Saturday at her home. She was 81.

She was born July 30, 1918, in Wolf the daughter of Chebon Powell and Epsie McCoy.

She was a lifelong Seminole County resident and a homemaker.

She was a member of the Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; five brothers; four sons; two grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include sons, George Harjo of Oklahoma City, Richard Harjo of the home, Jimmy Harjo Sr. of Bowlegs, and Andrew Harjo, Newman Harjo and Leo Tiger, all of Seminole; daughters, Betty Tanyan and Donna Renton of Seminole and Sylvia Harjo of the home; sister, Leah West of Wolf; 46 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

The body will lie in state at the Harjo home, 2509 Princeton, Seminole, until 9 a.m. Wednesday morning when she will be moved to the Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church. Wake services were 7:30 p.m. Monday and 7:30 p.m. today at the Harjo home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church with the Rev. Webster Fixico and the Rev. Houston Tiger officiating. Burial will be at the Harjo family cemeteryunder the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Jeffrey Lynn Wagner

Jeffrey Lynn Wagner of Seminole died Friday at his home. He was 49.

He was born Feb. 25, 1951, at Arkansas City, Kan. He was the stepson of Vern D. Johnson and the son of Mary Evelyn Wallace.

Wagner, a rehabilitation counselor, moved to Seminole from El Paso, Texas.

He was a Cavalry scout in the U.S. Army for four years and received the National Defense Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Good Conduct Medal, Pistol/Rifle expert, Overseas Service Ribbon and Combat Action Ribbon.

Survivors include his daughter, Adrienne Jaramilla of Whittier, Calif.; brother, Preston J. Wagner of Arnold, Mo.; and granddaughter, Lauren Jaramilla of California.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Chris Stinnett officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Earnie Cooper

Earnie Cooper died Monday at a local hospital. He was 90.

Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
