Earnie L. Cooper

Earnie L. Cooper, 90, Shawnee, died Monday at a local hospital.

He was born Aug. 18, 1909, in Ray Valley, Ark. He was the son of Oscar and Ada Cooper.

He was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator for Pottawatomie County from 1961 until his retirement in August, 1974.

Cooper married Viola L. Ott in January 1934 in Chandler.

He was a member of the Minneha Free Will Baptist Church. He lived in the McLoud-Shawnee area for 68 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, brother, sister, half-brother and three half-sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Viola L. Cooper of Shawnee; two daughters, Martha Petty, Oklahoma City; Joyce Routh, Oklahoma City; stepson, Jesse Ott, Shawnee; stepdaughter, Velma Harder, Shawnee; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jessie Wallis officiating. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery.

Bobby Dean Gordon

Bobby Dean "Jim Bob" Gordon died Wednesday in Tecumseh. He was 44.

He was born Sept. 1, 1955, in Liberal, Kan. He lived in Tecumseh for the last three years.

He was a foreman for Hurley-Miller Asphalt Co. in Colorado and served in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the British Motorcycle Club.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Rusty Gordon.

Survivors include one son, Robert James "Jake" Gordon of Aurora, Colo.; three daughters, Laura Gordon of Phoenix, Ariz., Meghan and Savannah Gordon, both of Aurora, Colo.; his parents, Dean Sr. and Nancy Gordon of Satellite Beach, Fla. and Betsy Gibler of Missouri; nine sisters, Debbie VanDyne of Kansas, Patty Richart of Missouri, Jackie Burkholder of Colorado, Susie Gordon of Missouri, Brenda Trotter of Missouri, Marlene Ritcheson of Tennessee, Devonna Goins of West Virginia, Donna Gibler of Missouri, and Terry Gibler of Missouri; and three brothers, Dean Gordon Jr. of Florida, Al Gordon of Colorado, and J.R. Gibler of Missouri.

Services are set for 11 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Arnold Royster

Arnold Royster died Friday in a local hospital at the age of 64.

Services are pending under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Pearl Murray

Pearl Murray died Friday. She was 89.

She was born to Harvey and Mattie Mitchell on Oct. 18, 1910, near Haskell. At the age of 10, she moved to the Alva area, where she lived until 1984, when she moved to Victoria, Texas.

She lived in Texas until 1995, when she moved to Harrah. She was married to Wilber Murray in April 1929.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962; son Leonard in 1969; her parents; five brothers, Clyde, Dick, Bill Jack and Harvey Mitchell; and one sister, Juanita Copenhaver.

Survivors include three sons and four daughters-in-law, Bob and Diana of Arkeny, Iowa; Howard and Erma of Fairview; Francis and Gary Holton of Dallas, Texas; Marjorie Wilson of Harrah; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a sister, Millie Jewart of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Floyd Martin.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Harrah United Methodist Church with burial at 4:30 p.m. at Alva Municipal Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.

Michael Lance Warn

Michael Lance Warn died in New Orleans, La. He was 40.

He was born July 13,1959, at Okemah, to Lance R. Warn and Sandra K. (Swain) Warn. He played tight end in the 1976 state championship for the Okemah High School Football Team.

He graduated from Okemah High School in 1977. Warn attended Carl Albert University, where he played on the baseball team. He also attended Central State University.

He was an operator in the refining business and worked for several years with Koch Industries and Syntroleum Corporation. He was currently working on a production platform in the Gulf of Mexico as an operator.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra K. Warn, March 28, 1994.

Survivors include father and stepmother, Lance R. and Jane Warn of Okemah; son, Ross Ellis Warn of Lawton; daughter, Elizabeth Pearl Warn of Lawton; brother, John Patrick Warn of Bixby; sister, Laura Morris and husband Rick of Henryetta.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, at Okemah. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery with Brother Steve Lowrance officiating.

Services directed by Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Minnie (Edmonson) Adams

Minnie (Edmonson) Adams died Wednesday in Cypress, Calif., at the age of 85.

She was born Aug. 13, 1914, to George Washington and Stacia LaFreda (Brown) Edmonson. She was a former resident of Meeker and was a member of the Cypress Park Community Baptist Church in Cypress, Calif. She was a homemaker and salesperson at the Van DeCamp's Bakery for 15 years.

She was a volunteer for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the PTA. She married Charles Washington Adams on May 20, 1939.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Fred Edmonson of Meeker.

Survivors include two sons, Royce Adams of Cypress, Calif., Bill Adams of Lake Isabella, Calif., one daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Bill Rice of Cypress, Calif., one sister, Agnes Goodwin of Del City, one sister-in-law, Doris Edmonson of Meeker, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Meeker with the Rev. Clint Dawkins of Shawnee officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker.

Beulah B. Weston

Beulah B. Weston died Friday in a local nursing home at age 89.

Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Monday in the Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Kathy Sue McCabe

Kathy Sue McCabe of Shawnee died Saturday in Midwest City at the age of 49.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating. Burial will be at Blackburn Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Kathy Sue Howard was born May 29, 1951, in Maywood, Calif., the daughter of James Arthur and Katie Lou (Matthews) Howard. The family moved to Pottawatomie County in 1959.

She was a graduate of Shawnee High School and Draughon's School of Business. She married Bob McCabe in Shawnee on June 6, 1970.

Mrs. McCabe was legal secretary and business manager for Sydney R. Clark III for more than 20 years.

She was a 1998 recipient of the St. Gregory University Community Hero Award, a two-time recipient of "Big Sister of the Year," and former chairwoman of Bowl for Kids' Sake.

She served on the boards of directors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Gateway to Prevention and Recovery and Hospice of Shawnee. In addition, she was a volunteer for Project Graduation and Relay For Life. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Her mother, Katie Lou Howard, preceded her in death in 1983.

Surviving are her husband, Bob McCabe, of the home; son, Robert Craig Marion McCabe, Barrington, R.I.; father and stepmother, James A. and Wilma Jean Howard, Asher; brother and sister-in-law, James K. and Cindy Howard, Earlsboro; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Nellie McCabe, Shawnee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Kathie McCabe, Shawnee; Stan and Linda Chard, Midwest City; James and Sherri Martin, Del City, many other relatives and her "little sister," Katie.

Memorials may be made to Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

Julius G. Stewart

Julius G. Stewart, a former Shawnee and Tecumseh resident, died Sunday, July 2, in Dallas, Texas, after a brief illness. He was 76.

He was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Wanette the son of Hubert A. and Osie (Sullivan) Stewart.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1942. He was a Southern Baptist.

Stewart served in World War II in the 8th Army Air Force, European Theater. He flew 57 missions over Germany in a B-17.

Stewart was awarded two bronze stars; an Air Medal with seven oak leaf clusters; Bravery and Good Conduct medals; and the Distinguished Flying Cross (twice). He was a tool and die maker.

He was a state runner-up Golden Gloves boxer, and life member of the Shawnee VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, H.A. Stewart Jr. and Jack Stewart and sister, Virginia Belle Stewart.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Rhea and Earl Clifton, Dallas, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Kris Stewart, Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, Daniel Ryan, Callista Nabors, Patrick Clifton, Dillon Clifton, Michaela Stewart and Justin G. Stewart; three brothers, Joe, Cecil and Bill Stewart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Chapel, at Resthaven Memorial. Services will be conducted by the family and a military detail from Ft. Sill, and Honor Guard of the Shawnee VFW.
