John Harold Crow

John Harold Crow died Saturday. He was 83.

He was born Jan. 30, 1917, in Grapevine, Texas, to Erskine and Lela (York) Crow. After high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On April 19, 1986, he married Virginia L. Tener.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gerry.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home; five sons, Larry Crow, Don Crow, JR Crow, Mark Tener, Jim Tener; one daughter, Linda Woody; four brothers, Floyd Crow, William Crow, Olan Crow and E.J. Crow; two sisters, Mary Willis and Mildred Ziegler; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday at the Southpark Baptist Church. Graveside services followed at the Tecumseh Mission Cemetery in Tecumseh.

Services were under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuary, South Oklahoma City. Memorials may be made to the Southpark Baptist Church Building Fund.

William Leroy Archer

William Leroy Archer of Cromwell died Sunday. He was 74.

Services are under the direction of Stout Funeral Home, Wewoka.

JoAnna Rose Harjo

JoAnna Rose Harjo, 69, Konawa, died Thursday at Oklahoma City.

She was born April 19, 1931, in Seminole, to Eliza (Camp) and Freeland Wolf. She was married to Almond James Harjo.

She was a homemaker and lifetime resident of the Konawa area. She was a member of the Hitchiti Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Elizabeth Robinson; son Sam Harjo.

Survivors include long-time friend, John Harjo; three sons, James Harjo, Konawa; Richy Harjo, Wewoka; Jeremy Harjo, Konawa; four daughters, Jimmie Lou Harjo, Ada; Charlotte Harjo, Konawa; Tammie Harjo, Ada; Juanita Gipson, Sasakwa; two sisters, Susie Jones, Konawa; Sally Harjo, Seminole; 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, seven nieces and three nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Carpitcher officiating. Burial will follow at the Vamoosa Cemetery.

Carolyn Jean Watts

Carolyn Jean Watts, 55, Konawa, died Thursday at Shawnee.

She was born Aug. 4, 1944, in Oklahoma City to Wilma (Crenshaw) and David Butler. She was married to James Roy Watts at Konawa Sept. 21, 1974.

She was a computer operator, cashier, housewife and mother who lived in the Konawa area for 46 years. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Ada.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Butler; mother-in-law, Evelyn Watts; a nephew, Joseph Gladden.

Survivors include her husband, James "Jim" Roy Watts; one son, Richard Lee Howsman; one daughter, Donna Jean Watts; mother and stepfather, Wilma and Walter Lamb; two brothers, Dwight Butler and Wayne Butler; three sisters, Sharron Gladden; Donna Walker; Theresa Miley; and three grandchildren, Alexandria Lee, Errol James and Kyndrick James.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Pickard Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jess McDowell. Burial will follow in the Konawa Cemetery.

Melita Truesdell

Shawnee resident Melita Truesdell died Friday at a local hospital. She was 67.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Central Church of Christ. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Thelma Allen

Thelma Allen died Friday in Shawnee. She was 91.

Mrs. Allen was born Dec. 4, 1908, in Arkansas to Zackary Taylor and Sarah Ann (Watts) Cross. She married Charles Edward Allen on June 22, 1936.

She had lived in the Paden area since 1946 and was a homemaker and member of the Paden Holiness Church.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Ovonual and Linda Allen, Paden; Ivan D. and Jeannie Allen, Arapaho; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Albert Grammer, Stroud; stepson, James Allen, Nevada; stepdaughter, Louise Shiflett, Okmulgee; two sisters, Nettie Marie Allen, Seminole; Grace Rice, California; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on March 23, 1979; her parents, one child, one grandchild, two sisters and one stepdaughter.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague, with the Rev. Brett Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery.

Robert C. Ivy

Robert C. "Bob" Ivy, 84, Tecumseh, died Wednesday in Tecumseh.

Ivy was born April 3, 1916, in Pauls Valley, the son of Colley and Myrtle (Kennedy) Ivy.

He grew up in Pauls Valley. In 1937, he graduated from Pauls Valley High School, where he was a member of the championship football team.

He married Dixie Stevenson in 1940. They lived in Ardmore and Oklahoma City before moving to Tecumseh in 1946. She preceded him in death March 12, 1987. On May 29, 1995, he married Mary Jo Copeland.

Ivy operated a grocery store in Tecumseh for 32 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Colley and Myrtle Ivy; a sister, Eunice Dawkins; and a brother, John Ivy.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Ivy, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Lauretta Ivy, Durango, Colo.; Lee and Darlene Ivy, Buxton, Maine; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Geneva Ivy, Arlington, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Louis Baker, Gonzalez, La.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ivy, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Adam Ivy and Bristol Ivy, both of Buxton, Maine; stepdaughter, Mary Fallin, Oklahoma City; stepson and spouse, Bill and Rochelle Copeland, Tecumseh; stepgrandchildren, Brad Dean, Cristina Fallin and Price Fallin; mother-in-law, Ina Duggan, Tecumseh; sister-in-law, Barbara Morrow, Tecumseh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh, with Bill Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Melita Truesdell

Shawnee resident Melita Truesdell died Friday in a local hospital. She was 67.

Mrs. Truesdell was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Ardmore, the daughter of M.L. and Hazel Cole.

She grew up and attended school in Chickasha and Shawnee.

She married Charles "Buddy" Truesdell in 1951 in Sulphur.

Mrs. Truesdell was the co-owner of the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Shawnee.

She was a member of the Central Church of Christ since 1946.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Myron Truesdell, in 1952; and her parents, M.L. and Hazel Cole.

Survivors include her husband, Charles "Buddy" Truesdell, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. Jr. and Patti Truesdell, Oklahoma City; daughter and son-in-law, Kathie and Steve Kraker, Tulsa; four grandchildren, Chad and Tiffany Truesdell, Oklahoma City; Jeff and Jennifer Kraker, Tulsa; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Bill Fleming, Shawnee.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, at Central Church of Christ, with Dwyane Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel of Shawnee.

Katrine Abernathy

A memorial service for Shawnee resident Katrine Abernathy, 91, will be held Wednesday at United Presbyterian Church. Further arrangements are pending under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Ivory G. Watson

Ivory G. Watson, Shawnee, died Saturday in a local nursing home. He was 71.

Watson was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Shawnee, the son of Bert and Ella Watson.

He attended schools at Center Point and Bethel.

He married Viola Holcombe on Aug. 1, 1948, in Tecumseh.

Watson was a member of Laborers International Union, and attended Twin Lakes Nazarene Church.

He lived in Shawnee for most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Ella Watson; three brothers, Raymond, Wayne and Frank Watson; and four sisters, Dovie Johnson, Ruth Williams, Oma Arms and Gertie Brunkest.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Watson, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Della and Floyd Styers Jr., Shawnee; Dawna and Charlie Hamm Jr., Shawnee; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Harold and Dean Watson, Tecumseh; Jack Watson, Wetumka; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Addie and Doyle Smith, Shawnee; Kozelhua and Hebern Young, Tecumseh; three granddaughters and their spouses, Heather and Preston Skinner, Okinawa, Japan; Amber and Shaun Whiteside, Okinawa, Japan; Francis Gene Styers, Shawnee; and a grandson, Chad Hamm, Shawnee.

Memorials may be made to the hospice of choice.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee, with the Rev. Harold Blankenship and the Rev. John Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
