Patricia L. (Venable) Foster

Tecumseh High School graduate Patricia L. "Pat" (Venable) Foster died Sunday near Bowling Green, Ky., at the age of 47.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1952, in Hutchison, Kan., to John Doyle and Audrey Jo (Davidson) Venable. She was a 1971 graduate of Tecumseh High School and married Wesley C. Foster Sept. 15, 1971.

She was a food service worker in Eastwood Elementary School for several years and currently was manager of the Parker Elementary School cafeteria. She was a member of the Moose Lodge of Newcastle and the Swingin' Hoosiers Line Dancing Club.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother- and father-in-law, Theodore and Alta Foster.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, John T. "Teddy" Foster of Newcastle and Corey D. Foster of Indianapolis; her mother and stepfather, Audrey Jo and George Crown of Tecumseh; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Valeta Venable of Grapevine, Texas, and Debbie and Otis Townsend of Tecumseh; one brother, John Stephen Venable of Tecumseh; one sister-in-law, Helen Wiles of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a brother-in-law, Henry and Kelly Foster of Newcastle; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with the Rev. Don Silvers officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.

Bessie Marie Smithman Thomas

Bessie Marie Smithman Thomas died Monday at the age of 89.

She was born on May 10, 1911. She received both her bachelor's and master's degrees from East Central State University, Ada, and taught school throughout the state for more than 26 years. She was a member of the Sunbeam organization and was a Baptist.

Survivors include her six children and their spouses, Carolyn Comer, Jerry and Elena Thomas, Dolores and Chuck Joy, Patricia and Tony Watts, Barbara and Bill Lowry and Linda and Dar Cox; three sisters; one brother; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Sunnylane Cemetery. Capitol Hill Funeral Home, 2801 S. Robinson, Oklahoma City, is in charge of arrangement.

Oma Beatrice Peoples

Oma Beatrice Peoples died Monday in Oklahoma City. She was 76.

She was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Agra. She was the daughter of Harley Willie and Laura Ginney (Gallahar) Gray.

Mrs. Peoples was a longtime resident of Tryon, where she worked as a baker and cook for many years and was a member of the Church of the First Born in Agra.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, two sisters and husband Joe Peoples.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Gray of Watsonville, Calif., and Bill Wesson of Watsonville, Calif.; three daughters, Charly Manske and Kathleen Platt, both of Watsonville, Calif., and Diana Wesson, Cushing; one brother, Floyd Gray of Chandler; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Chandler. Burial will follow at the Parkland Cemetery in Parkland, with Brother Ferman Davis officiating.

Jerry W. Dickerson

Jerry W. Dickerson of Louisville, Colo., died Thursday of cancer at his home. He was 61.

He was born July 21, 1938, in Lyons, Kan. to John and Marjorie Dickerson.

He went to Lyons High School, Lyons, Kan. Dickerson also attended Emporia State College, Emporia, Kan.

He married Sherry Dickerson. He was employed by State Farm Insurance.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Dickerson.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry; father, John Dickerson, Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Dick Moody, Shawnee; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Marina Dickerson, Phoenix, Ariz.; Jason and Nicole Dickerson, Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Josh, Kasie, MacKenzie; nieces and nephews, Jill Michaels, Edmond; Kevin Moody, Shawnee; Ryan Moody, Shawnee.

A memorial service will be announced.

Mildred P. Collin

Mildred P. "Millie" Collin died Tuesday in Norman. She was 72.

She was born Jan. 5, 1928, to Arthur and Carrie (Marlow) Bates in Pauls Valley. She moved to Norman in 1972 and was a member of the Westside Church of Christ.

Mrs. Collin graduated from Madill High School and was a dental hygienist. She and John R. Collin were married Dec. 23, 1958, in Fort Sill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Gary Akin and one brother, Lloyd Bates.

Survivors include her husband, John R. Collin; one son, Rick Collin and wife Jo Ellen of Denver, Colo.; two brothers and two-sisters-in-law, Clyde Bates and wife Lorene of Shawnee; A.B. Bates and wife Edna of Wichita Falls, Texas; one sister, Gladys Benson of Norman and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Primrose Chapel with Leon Dennis officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.

Joyce Rayfield

Joyce Rayfield of Shawnee died Monday at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 51.

She was born Oct. 11, 1948, in Shawnee. She was the daughter of George and Maxine (Burch) Rayfield.

She graduated from Tecumseh High School, attended The University of Oklahoma Health Science Center and Rose State College. She was a registered nurse at Grace Living Center in Oklahoma City.

She lived in Shawnee most of her life.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Pete Rayfield.

Survivors include daughter, Kimm McPhearson, Reno, Nev.; two sons, Vance McPhearson, Oklahoma City; Jay McPhearson, Oklahoma City; one brother, George Rayfield, Dallas, Texas; parents, George and Maxine Rayfield, Tecumseh; two grandchildren, Chris McPhearson, Oklahoma City; Chance Mason, Oklahoma City.

The family will greet friends and visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Viewing will be at these hours only.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Tecumseh Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Sibyl Coley Wilburn

Sibyl Coley Wilburn of Seminole died Monday at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 86.

She was born March 4, 1914, at Earlsboro. She was the daughter of Thomas Franklin Caudle and Caroline Martin.

She was a longtime Seminole County resident. She married Randolph "Randy" Wilburn in Seminole on April 15, 1960.

He preceded her in death April 6, 1996. She began teaching at age 17.

She received her bachelor's in education from East Central University and her master's in Education from The University of Oklahoma. She taught mostly fifth-graders for more than 40 years.

After retirement, she worked with her husband in his ministry with the blind. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seminole, for 65 years was a Sunday school teacher, member of the W.M.U. at First Baptist Church, Retired Teachers Club member, lifetime member of the Oklahoma Teachers Association, member of the Self Culture Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Hubert Caudle.

Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Willynda and Carl Holmes from Liberal, Kan.; sister and brother-in-law, Velma and Leonard Price of Edmond; several nieces and nephews and two grandchildren, Bret Carpenter of Norman and Randall Holmes of Wichita, Kan.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Kelvin Moseley officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Ethel Larena Anderson Hamilton

Ethel Larena Anderson Hamilton of Shawnee died Monday at a local nursing home. She was 95.

She was born Jan. 17, 1905, in Macomb. She was the daughter of WM Oscar and Maude (Thurmond) Anderson.

She attended school at Solomon's Temple. She married Cletus A. Hamilton in 1927 in Oklahoma City.

She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Murrow Chapter No. 464, and a member of the Rock Island Club.

She moved from Macomb to Shawnee in 1922.

She was a nurse for Dr. B.F. Hamilton, father of Cletus A. Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1954; four sisters, one brother and one grandson.

Survivors include daughter, Luella Land, Lakewood, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Judith Hamilton, Plano, Texas; three grandchildren, David E. and Patricia Land, Lakewood, Colo.; Michael R. Hamilton, Columbus, Ohio; Amy and Jason Intres, Columbus, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to the Rose Manor Memorial Fund, 909 E. Independence.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Harry Smith officiating, assisted by a nephew, William Roy Anderson. Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
