Darrell Loftis

Darrell Loftis of Shawnee died Tuesday. He was 49.

He was born May 22, 1951, in Seminole, the son of Curtis M. Loftis and Kathyren Durham.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Loftis of Shawnee; two daughters and a son-in-law, Elisha and Michael Koch of Shawnee and Candy Loftis; son, Curtis Loftis; and father, Curtis M. Loftis.

There will be no services.

Demuth Funeral Home of Oklahoma City is in charge of arrangements.

George Thomas Grills

George Thomas Grills died Wednesday at his home in Okemah. He was 86.

He was born Dec. 2, 1913, in Scarbro, Tenn., to James Robert Grills and Mary Kathryn Walters Grills.

On March 29, 1934, he married Mozeillie Lee Sebers in Gates City, Va. She preceded him in death Jan. 30, 1998.

He was a member of the Last Chance Baptist Church and was a retired farmer/rancher. He moved to Okfuskee County in August 1976.

Survivors include his stepson, Rodney Scott of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren, four nephews, J.R. Grills of Wellington, Ohio; Roy Grills of Vermilion, Ohio; James Grills of Kingsport, Tenn., and Wayne Grills of Kingsport, Tenn., and one niece, Mary Frances Stanford of Kingsport, Tenn.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Morse Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Waller officiating. Burial will be in the Morse Cemetery.

Parks Funeral Home, Okemah, is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Allen Schlax

Robert Allen Schlax of Shawnee died Tuesday in an automobile accident. He was 17.

He was born Aug. 30, 1983, in Big Bear Lake, Calif., the son of Todd Allen Schlax and Donna Jean Siemann. He started school in Los Osos, Calif., and also attended school in Del City before moving to Arvada, Colo. There, he attended his first two years of high school. He had attended Little Axe School the past two years.

Robert was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and loved to skateboard and snowboard.

Preceding him in death was his grandmother, Lee Anne Malm.

Surviving are his mother, Donna Lindsey, of the home; father and stepmother, Todd and Annie Schlax of Westminster, Colo.; two sisters, Jessica D. Schlax of Shawnee and Amber N. Lindsey of Del City; a brother, Cody G. Lindsey of Del City; grandparents, Donald J. and Ellfreda Siemann of McLoud, Robert C. and Barbara Schlax of Eatonville, Wash., Jim Malm of Cherry Valley, Calif., and William and Lee O'Halloran of Fort Collins, Colo.; stepsisters, Jenna Oliver of Niwot, Colo., Jessie Acott of Fort Collins, Colo.; stepbrothers, Tony DeLand of Denver, Colo., and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hilltop Baptist Church, Norman with the Rev. Terry Ryles of Crestview Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh, is in charge of arrangements.

Toney Holata

Lifelong Seminole resident Toney Holata died Tuesday at Seminole Estates Nursing Home. He was 72.

Holata was born April 5, 1927, in Wewoka to Willeya and Martha (Joshua) Holata. He worked for ammunition depot in McAlester and retired from farm work. He was a member of Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Roy Holata, Seminole; Eli Holata, Okeechobee, Fla.; daughter, Rosemary Harjo, Wewoka; two brothers, Wayne and James Holata, both of Wewoka; sister, Ester Stewart, Seminole; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Whitney and Eugene Holata.

Wake services will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Houston Tiger and Paul Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Roos Family Cemetery.

Dollie May

Shawnee resident Dollie "Nannie" May died Monday at a local nursing home. She was 92.

Mrs. May was born May 30, 1907, in Maud to C.A. and Harriett Youts. She married C.E. "Ed" May on Sept. 8, 1926, in Tecumseh.

She grew up in Ray City, Okla. and lived in the Shawnee area most of her life. She was a charter member of Golden Acres Baptist Church where she served as treasurer and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Ercel and Roy Brown, Tecumseh; Mary and Del Chancellor, Shawnee; daughter, Kathryn Waller, Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mauzee Youts, Amarillo, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, on Jan. 24, 1979; sons, James E., George A., and twins Bobby Jack and Billy Joe; and great-grandson, Brian Newell.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tom Hall officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Edmond Hospice, 101 E. Hurd Suite F, Edmond, OK 73034.

Donald Ray Gray

Donald Ray Gray of Seminole died Saturday at University Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was 55.

Gray was born July 31, 1945, in McAlester to T.J. Gray and Leona Gray Rivers. He married Wendy Harris Aug. 10, 1977, in Newport News, Va.

A longtime Seminole County resident, he was a member of Galilee Temple of Praise and Deliverance in Seminole.

Gray was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Preceding him in death were his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father.

Survivors include wife, Wendy (Harris) Gray; his mother and stepfather, Leona and Theodore Rivers, Seminole; his son, Alonzo Don-Ray Gray, Suffolk, Va.; four daughters, Casandra Nicole Gray and Kevette Decheal Gray, both of Suffolk; Tara Janelle Gray and Dawn Marie Gray, both of Columbia, Mo.; stepson, William Dabbney, Columbus, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn Marie and Charles Wood, Bowlegs; special friend, May Kathryn Provo, Seminole; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Burdine officiating. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery, Wewoka.

Myrl Rippey Brundege

Shawnee native Myrl Rippey Brundege died Sunday in Durant. She was 97.

She was born May 12, 1903, to William Gilkerson Rippey and Emma Jane Honaker in Hydro.

She was baptized in 1925 and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was a 1921 Shawnee High School graduate. She was a Bible student and teacher, and in her later years, she taught World Bible School.

She married Ira Browder Brundege on June 6, 1922, in Shawnee. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1981.

Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Lorita Myrl Ritchie, who died in 1986.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Clarice Jean and Bob Rader of Mariposa, Calif., Kay Lynn and Charles Villines of Durant; grandchildren Alan Ritchie of Waco, Texas, Rebecca Ann Starr of Midwest City, Robin Jean Amos of Mariposa, Calif., Susan Myrl Rader of McMinnville, Ore., Mark Steven Villines of Calera Okla., and Judy Kay Cobb of Flower Mound, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Cemetery, Shawnee.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home.

Roxian (Christ) Dunn

Roxian (Christ) Dunn, Okemah, died Sunday in Okemah at the age of 92.

She was born on Sept. 7, 1908, in Fallis, Okla., to Charlie N. Christ and Maude Gertrude (Smith) Christ.

She attended school in Fallis, Okla., and married Harry Dunn in Florida. She worked as a Bell Telephone operator for 15 years and worked at Sun Land Hospital in Apoka, Fla., for another 15 years.

She had lived with her grandson and his wife, Steve and Billie Billings, in Okemah for the past three years.

Preceding Mrs. Dunn in death were her husband, parents, six brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include one son, Eugene Billings of Eufaula; one sister, Mildred Hall of Wellston; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the family's residence in Okemah. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

Mary Ann (Spear) Wright

Mary Ann (Spear) Wright, 82, Shawnee, died Monday in a local nursing home.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Glen Pence will officiate. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.
