Ethel Oletha Whiteside Davis

Ethel Oletha Whiteside Davis died Tuesday. She was 84.

She was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Seminole to Mr. and Mrs. Hillary Whiteside.

Survivors include her nephew, Wilfred E. Brown, Santa Barbara, Calif.; sister-in-law, Ethel Whiteside, Oklahoma City; and an extended family including Richard, Kelsey, Rick and Harris Van Cleef, Bibba and Don Winn, Lisa Houge and Michael Winn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Willie, and sisters Mamie, Mable and Naomi.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Earlsboro, with the Rev. Bryan Pain officiating. Burial will be in Earlsboro Cemetery. Temple and Sons Funeral Directors, Oklahoma City, are in charge of arrangements.

Ralph W. McLaughlin

Ralph W. McLaughlin, 70, Shawnee, died Wednesday. Services are pending with Resthaven Funeral Home.

William H. Gray

William H. Gray, 55, Shawnee, died Wednesday in an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Aug. 7, 1945, in Ramsey, Ind., the son of William Homer and Gertrude (Berkenmeyer) Gray. He attended school in Indiana.

Gray drove a truck for Nachand Beverage for many years. He also was a special deputy for Clark County Sheriff's Department before moving to Shawnee in 1981. He was the co-owner and chief mechanic of B and K Kerr McGee until he went to work at Foresee Oil Co.

On July 7, 1994, he married Cindy Dobbins.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; his mother, of New Albany, Ind.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deana and Ronnie Stewart of Prague and Kim and Ron Nash of Fort Myers, Fla.; three grandchildren, Colton Stewart, Lane Stewart and Austin Nash; three sisters, Delores Belcher of Ledgefield, Ky.; Helen Dailey of Charles Town, Ind. and Sharon Geswein of Indianapolis, Ind.; and two brothers, Donnie Gray and Gene Gray, both of Jeffersonville, Ind.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Roy Lawrence Nichols

Roy Lawrence Nichols, 72, died Thursday in Okemah.

The lifetime Okfuskee County resident was born on April 4, 1928, in Okemah, the son of Oscar D. and Zora Ward Nichols. He attended Banner and Okemah schools.

On Nov. 27, 1959, he married Mary Jo Glasco in Buffalo, Okla.

He worked for the Okemah Police Department and was the sheriff of Okfuskee County for 14 years before retiring. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Nichols was also a member of the American Legion for 52 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Lawrence Nichols of Salida, Colo.; Steve Harris and Mike Nichols, both of Okemah; two daughters, Susan Martin of Oklahoma City and Rhonda Kay Hardin of Okemah; two brothers, Harry Nichols of Henryetta and Jimmy Nichols of Okemah; one sister, Mae Starr of Okemah; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Assembly of God Church, Okemah. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Steve Lowrance will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Ralph Wayne McLaughlin

Ralph Wayne McLaughlin, 70, Shawnee, died Wednesday in a local hospital.

He was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Tecumseh, the son of Earl and Pearl (McMahan) McLaughlin.

He worked as the owner and operator of McLaughlin construction before retiring. He had lived in the South Rock Creek area most of his life.

In 1949, McLaughlin married Rachel Hendershott.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Barbara McLaughlin of Tecumseh and Leslie and Kim McLaughlin of Tecumseh; one daughter and son-in-law, Leah and Terry Ranes of Tecumseh; two sisters, one brother and numerous other relatives.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park. Leonard McLaughlin will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Dora L. (Gaines) Hishaw Owens

Dora L. (Gaines) Hishaw Owens, 83, Shawnee, died Sunday in Shawnee.

She was born in Woodville, Okla., on Feb. 21, 1917, the daughter of Florence M. and Ressie (Johnson) Gaines. She attended Dunbar Schools.

She was first married to Willie A. Hishaw. Following his death, she married Willie B. Owens. He also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Owens was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Preceding Mrs. Owens in death were her husbands; parents; infant son, Richard Hishaw; one daughter, Carol Hishaw; four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Lena Jo Owens of Shawnee; one son and daughter-in-law, Willie A. and Louise Hishaw of Shawnee; two sister, Ester Davis and Lucille Marshall, both of Shawnee; one sister-in-law, Mary Lee Gaines of Shawnee; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Galilee Baptist Church. The Rev. Wilbert Tripplett will officiate; burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

AzaLee M. Lyle

AzaLee M. Lyle, 87, died Thursday in a McLoud nursing home. Services are pending with Roesch-Walker.

Geneva Jane O'Neal

Geneva Jane O'Neal of Shawnee died Sunday at her residence. She was 79.

She was born April 7, 1921, in Tupelo. She was the daughter of Robert Brashears and Jewel (Jennings) Brashears.

She graduated from high school in Clarita and later from East Central University in Ada. Mrs. O'Neal was a school teacher for 32 years.

She taught fourth grade in Rush Springs and then was a substitute teacher in the Shawnee School Systems. She also taught at Centerview, South Rock Creek and later Tecumseh.

She was married to Edgar O'Neal in 1942 in Wewoka. Mrs. O'Neal was a member of the O.E.S. and the O.E.A.

She grew up in Coal County, moving to Shawnee in 1959.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Edgar O'Neal of Shawnee; two sons, Gary O'Neal and wife Linda of Shawnee; Rick O'Neal of Tulsa; one daughter, Sharon O'Neal of Miami, Fla.; one sister, Bobbie Hipp of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Dwayne Dennis and Don Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Haskell Horn

Haskell "Hack" Horn of Shawnee died Sunday at a local nursing home. He was 89.

He was born March 27, 1911, in Coweta. He was the son of William and Bessie Mae Horn.

He attended Coweta Public Schools.

Horn was former owner and operator of H-H Motor Agency and H-H Paint and Body Shop.

He also owned several used car lots and operated a small loan agency. After retiring from the automobile business he owned and operated Hack Horn Oil and Gas Properties until shortly before his death.

He married Georgia Jones Horn in 1939 and was married to her until her death in 1976. In 1981, Horn married Ruth Maxey Horn.

Horn, a 32nd Degree Mason, was a longtime resident and business owner in Shawnee. He had lived in Shawnee since 1928.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Maxey Horn, Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bill Hunn, Fort Worth, Texas; grandson and his wife, Monte and Jodie Pearson, Tulsa; granddaughter, Holly Pearson, Fort Worth, Texas; stepgranddaughter and her husband, Christina and Kevan Benkowitz, Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Betty Horn, Seminole and seven nieces and two nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Bill Matthews officiating assisted by Phil Thompson. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Nella M. Milner

Nella M. Milner, 76, Shawnee, died Sunday at a local hospital.

She was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Tecumseh to Jim and Minnie Harbour.

She graduated from Bethel Acres High School. She was married June 28, 1947, in Shawnee to Jimmy Milner, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Milner also was preceded in death by her parents, husband and mother-in-law.

Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Ava Milner Winterowd, Cathy Milner Torbett and Bill Torbett, Jary Milner Bohannon, eight grandchildren, Leslie Blevins, Annette Johnson, Julie Torbett, Rickey Bohannon II, Alesa DeLeon, Haley Freed, Misty Bohannon and P.J. Bohannon; eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Evelyn Nadea, Tecumseh; Chick Thompson, Tecumseh; three nephews and two nieces.

Services will be noon today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Whittaker officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
