Jimmy Don Wilcox

Jimmy Don Wilcox, 48, Newalla, died Sunday at his residence.

He was born Dec. 21, 1952, in Oklahoma City, the son of Gerald Wilcox and Thelma Jo (Alexander Wilcox.

Wilcox, a carpenter, was a resident of Newalla for the last 12 years.

Visitation and viewing will be this afternoon at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel until 8:30 p.m. and on Thursday at the Baggerley Funeral Home 5708 S. Western Street in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include mother, Thelma Jo Wilcox of Gordonville, Texas; father, Gerald Wilcox of Wanette; three sons, Jimmy Don Wilcox II of Del City; Nicholas Ray Wilcox of Indian Beach, Fla.; Joshua Davy Joe Wilcox of Oklahoma City; four daughters, Shalina Dawn Grant of Newalla; Joleaha Delores (Jody) Howard of Shawnee; Melanie Opal Wilcox of Stillwater; Kathryn Louise Wilcox of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Steve Wilcox of Goessel, Kan.; Ricky Joe Wilcox of Oklahoma City; one sister, Sheryl Borg of Oklahoma City and seven grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Southern Hills Church on S.W. 74th Street in Oklahoma City with Pastor Jim Hardwick officiating. Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Ethel Alleen (Sims) Cook

Ethel Alleen (Sims) Cook of Seminole died Saturday at Seminole. She was 94.

She was born Oct. 16, 1906, in Mansville. She was the daughter of William S. Sims and Carry G. (Stilly) Sims.

She moved to the Seminole area from Chattanooga in 1937. She married George L. Cook, who preceded her in death on April 1, 1963.

Mrs. Cook was a teacher and taught school for 43 years. She was a member of the Seminole First Baptist Church and member of the Retired Teachers Organization.

Survivors include two grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kelvin Moseley officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Marie (Yockey) Rickey

Marie (Yockey) Rickey died Sunday at a Meeker nursing home. She was 95.

She was born Feb. 5, 1905, in Quenemo, Kan. to George and Lura Dell (Nelson) Yockey. She grew up in Quenemo, Kan.

Mrs. Rickey had lived in Meeker for the past five years moving from Osage City, Kan., where she was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Fred, Jesse, Wilbur, Clifford and two sisters, Bessie and Gertrude.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Ruth Ann Dooty, Meeker; brothers, John Yockey, Waverly, Kan.; Floyd Yockey, Osage City, Kan.; Adrian Yockey, Wamego, Kan.; sister, Fern Lemons, Osage City, Kan.; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Quenemo, Kan. Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague, handled local arrangements.

Glenn Morrow

Glenn Morrow of Konawa died Saturday. He was 70.

He was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Konawa to Gladys Irene and Frank Elmer Morrow.

He was married to Sue Morrow at Ada on July 22, 1957. She preceded him in death in 1988.

He married Imogene Morrow on Sept. 9, 1993. He served as postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service and owned a used car sales dealership in Konawa.

Morrow lived all of his life in the Konawa area. He was a member of the Church of Christ, he was a retired volunteer fireman, member of the Konawa Chamber of Commerce and Konawa Lion's Club.

He was preceded in death by his father, one grandchild, Talea Ragon and his first wife, Sue.

Survivors include wife, Imogene Morrow of the home; one daughter, Kara Morrow, Oklahoma City; his mother, Gladys Irene Morrow, Konawa; two stepsons, Dennis Mitchell, Lexington; Doug Mitchell, Wilson; two stepdaughters, Jan Ragon, Norman; Beth Umel, Chickasha; one sister, Shirley Radford, Konawa; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Konawa High School Auditorium, officiated by Richard Winters and assisted by the Rev. Charlie Henthorne. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery, under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home of Konawa.

Ruby L. Gordon

Ruby L. Gordon died Jan. 9 in her Shawnee home. She was 68.

She was born on May 1, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Russell and Ruth (Krebs) Garland.

Survivors include four children, several grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.

Beulah C. Cowan

Beulah C. Cowan, 92, died Saturday at Seminole Medical Center.

She was born on Nov. 17, 1908, the daughter of Henry Curtis and Lottie Stout Curtis. She married George "Babe" Ballenger in Okemah. The couple was married for 50 years.

She later married Vernon Gilbert Cowan in Okmulgee.

Mrs. Cowan was a member of the Sunrise Homemaker Club and was employed at Ferguson sewing plant for many years.

Preceding Mrs. Cowan in death were both husbands, her parents, 11 brothers and sisters and one grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Ethel Kendrick and Louise Higgins; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Highland Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Clay officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

Abraham Lincoln Mahan

Abraham Lincoln Mahan died Saturday in Oklahoma City at the age of 76.

He was born on Feb. 12, 1924, in Tulsa, the son of Frank N. and Annie R. Mahan. He had lived in the Chandler area for several months.

Mahan was a member of the U.S. Marines and served during World War II. On May 28, 1956, he married Jerri Brasel. He worked as a salesman.

Preceding Mahan in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bill and Barb Mahan of Guthrie and Duddley Mahan of Chandler; two daughters, Sue Mahan of Bentonville, Ark. and Pam Mahan-Presley of Chandler; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Friends Church in Chandler. The Rev. Bruce Newby will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Max Harvey Moyer

Former Shawnee resident Max Harvey Moyer of Largo, Fla., died Saturday. He was 89.

Moyer was born in Reynoldsville, Pa., and graduated valedictorian of his high school at the age of 15.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Moyer managed his father's rental properties, then worked for the Curtis Publishing Co. in sales. He later acquired a magazine wholesale business in Shawnee and Lawton. After selling the business, he returned to college to study insurance and real estate.

He owned and operated Shawnee Realty and Investment Co. until retiring and was a member of the Lions Club.

He and his wife, Hattie, moved from Shawnee to Clearwater, Fla., in 1990.

Survivors include his wife, Hattie Ola Moyer, Clearwater; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip M. and Gloria D. Moyer, Plant City, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Donna M. and Jim Harper, Belleair, Fla.; brothers, Robert Moyer, McAllen, Texas, and James Moyer, Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Michelle Justen, Plant City; Devin Graham, Daphne, Ala.; Christopher and Craig Cochran, Clearwater; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Moss-Feaster Funeral Home, Largo, Fla.

George Frederick Taliaferro Jr.

George Frederick Taliaferro Jr. of Norman died Saturday. He was 89.

He was born Sept. 14, 1911, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Etta and George Frederick Taliaferro Sr.

Taliaferro was married to Dolores Frances Harper at Miami, Okla., on Oct. 30, 1972. He was a manufacturer's representative who lived his entire life in Kansas City until moving to Norman five years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Taliaferro of the home; two sons, George Gary Taliaferro, Wasilla, Alaska; Randy Jordan, Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pickard Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery, under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home of Konawa.
