Jimmie Glen Branson

Jimmie Glen Branson, 63, Honobia, died Thursday in Fort Smith, Ark.

He was born Sept. 14, 1937, in Tecumseh to Pansy Florence and Waneda Myrtle Richardson Branson. Branson, a heavy equipment operator, worked for the State Forestry Department.

He was a farmer and had lived in the Honobia area since 1972.

He married Betty Moore Nov. 15, 1986, at First Baptist Church of Battiest. Branson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Honobia, which he helped to establish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pansy and Waneda Branson, daughter, Donna Lavonne Branson and brother, Billy Bob Branson.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Branson of the home; daughter, Desiree and Phillip Eakle, Fort Gibson; daughter, Kathleen and James Johnson, Calera; stepson, Michael and Felecia Savage, Norman; 10 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Tommie Jean Fields, Clayton; Virginia Mae Bussey, Tecumseh; three brothers, Charles Branson, Honobia; Rick Branson, Honobia; Roy Branson, Maud; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Honobia with the Rev. Archie Phillips and the Rev. Everett Scott officiating.

Burial will be at Brown Cemetery, Tecumseh. Talihina Funeral Home of Talihina is in charge of arrangements.

Eleanor Crossley

Eleanor Crossley of Tecumseh died Friday in a local hospital. She was 79.

Arrangements will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Darrell L. Chambers

Darrell L. Chambers of Tecumseh died Sunday at his residence. He was 51.

He was born June 29, 1949, in Shawnee, the son of Preston (Bud) and Helen (Vanderburg) Chambers.

Chambers married Kay Hancock May 23, 1970, in Shawnee.

He retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service and was an aircraft mover foreman at Tinker Air Force Base, Midwest City.

A member of Oak Park Church of God, Chambers had lived in and around Shawnee all of his life.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Chambers, Tecumseh; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell L. and Larissa L. Chambers, Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Christina L. and Chris Low, Shawnee; grandchildren, Cassandra Dena´ Low and Darrius Jordon Low, Shawnee; mothers, Helen Oxley, Tecumseh, and Roxie Chambers, Shawnee; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Don and Glenna Chambers, Danny and Donna Chambers and Dale and Jeanie Chambers, all of Shawnee, David and Vickie Chambers, Colorado, David and Joan Annanders, Oklahoma City, Terry and Judy Kyle and Tony and Diane Herrington, all of Wichita, Kan., Cora and James Roberts and Brenda and Alvin Abbott, all of Texas, and Donna and Mike Davis, Washington; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Leroy Kerbo and the Rev. Ron Baldridge officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

The family has designated the City of Refuge Childrens Ministries, Brazil, in care of Oak Park Church of God, P.O. Box 1202, Shawnee, Okla. 74801, as appropriate for memorials.

Charles Helton Jr.

Charles Helton Jr. of Shawnee died Saturday at his residence. He was 70.

He was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Watonga, the son of Charles Jackson Helton and Rebecca E. (Hamilton) Helton.

He attended school in El Reno and was married to Carol Sue Stingley-Danker in March 1958 at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.

Helton, who retired from the U.S. Air Force June 30, 1970, with the rank of master sergeant, began his military career when he enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard in October 1947.

He served with the 45th Division, Company B, 179th Infantry as a rifleman. He attained the rank of private first class and was honorably discharged in June 1948.

Helton enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps Nov. 9, 1949, at Oklahoma City, completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, in January 1950 and attended aircraft and engine school at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. His first permanent duty station was Parrin Air Force Base, Sherman-Denison, Texas.

His overseas tours include Japan, Korea, Alaska and Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and a sister, Edna Higgs.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Helton, Shawnee; children and their spouses, Tommy W. and Connie Danker, Meeker, Donald L. Danker, Tecumseh, Charles L. Helton, Norman, Alice M. Helton, Oklahoma City, and Harvey R. Helton, Tulsa; sister and brother-in-law, Virgie and Virgil Reichert, El Reno; nine grandchildren; a nephew; a host of friends; and special friend, L.P.N. Sherry Staggs.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain John T. Gober officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Shawnee, 1102 W. MacArthur, Shawnee, Okla., 74801.

Ettie E. Nelson

Ettie E. Nelson of Tecumseh died Monday in Oklahoma City. She was 80.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Kay Karen Kennedy officiating.

Other information is pending and will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home.

Mary Ellen Lazenby

Mary Ellen Lazenby of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 89.

Services are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Joyce Lester

Former Shawnee resident Joyce Lester of Hugo died Sunday in Hugo. She was 72.

She was born May 4, 1928, in Okemah to Luther F. Lester and Ima P. (Swader) Lester. She had lived in the Hugo community since 1969, moving there from Shawnee.

She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Hugo. She had worked as a unit secretary for the Choctaw Memorial Hospital for many years.

She was preceded in death by her father and three sisters, Frances Boedeker, Frankie Payne Schneider and Patricia Golden.

Survivors include her mother, Ima Lester of Hugo; sister, Jewell Bills of Hugo; six nephews; and three nieces.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug McClure officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery, Seminole, under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo.

Beatrice Smiley

Beatrice (Grooms) Smiley of Maud died Thursday at Valley View Hospital, Ada. She was 76.

She was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Wolf City, Texas, to Steven Lonzo "Lonnie" and Cora Elizabeth (Pittman) Grooms.

On May 17, 1971, she was married in Ardmore to William Thomas Smiley, who preceded her in death March 5, 1983.

A homemaker, Mrs. Smiley also was retired from the Texas Name Plate Company in 1970.

She also was preceded in death by her father, three brothers, George "Creepy" Grooms, Jack Grooms and Joe David Grooms, and a son, Thomas Smiley.

Survivors include her mother, Cora Grooms, Maud; two daughters, Mary Heath, Asheboro, S.C.; Linda Elliott, Cedar Hill, Texas; son, Darrell Davis, Spotsylvania, Va.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Betty "Soukie" Kelley, Oklahoma City; Joyce Stackhouse Brann, Alvarado, Texas; Fran McCarty, Bobbie Woods and Glenda Bowers, all of Maud; Virginia McClaskey, Eufaula; Jeanne Rowley, Ardmore; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Maud, with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be in Cummings Cemetery.

Demoy Everett Mullins

Demoy Everett Mullins,77, Konawa, died Thursday.

He was born June 11, 1923, in Big Flat, Ark., to Lillie Belle and William Henry Mullins.

He was a heavy equipment operator, and lived in the Konawa area most of his life. Mullins was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Borel.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Mullins, Konawa; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Shawn Collier, Cushing; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Carol Mullins, Prescott, Ark.; Martin and Lisa Mullins, Edmond; Philip and Jan Mullins, Konawa; one brother, Earl Mullins, Stockton, Calif.; two sisters, Pearl Massey, Manteca, Calif., and Wanda Fulmer, Lake Elsinor, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Vamoosa Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Charlie Henthorn. Services are under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home of Konawa.

Louise Moore

Louise Moore of Harrah died Tuesday. She was 79.

She was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Sacred Heart, to Edward W. and Lottie E. (Simon) Canfield.

Mrs. Moore had lived in Harrah since 1993, moving from Nicoma Park, where she had lived since 1966.

She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. She retired as a civil servant at Tinker Air Force Base.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delmar Moore; daughter, Judy Bedford; five sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Aubrey Chitsey of Midwest City; seven grandchildren, Bill Bedford Jr., Michael Bedford, Elizabeth Roberts, Cathy Hite, Leslie Chitsey, Steven Chitsey and Greg Chitsey; eight great-grandchildren, son-in-law, Bill Bedford Sr., two sisters, Mary Jackson of Nicoma Park and Dorothy Wietelman of Midwest City; two brothers, John Canfield of Guthrie and Jim Canfield of Duncan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Prayer services will be 7 p.m. Friday at the Barnes and Johnson Funeral Chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Burial will be at the Arlington Memory Gardens Cemetery.
