Boyd Morgan Blount

Former Shawnee resident Boyd Morgan Blount, 80, died Thursday in Conroe, Texas.

He was born in Paducah, Texas, on Jan. 18, 1921. Blount was the son of Joe B. and Lula K. (Morgan) Blount. He graduated from Shamrock High School, where he was a football player known as "the brown mule."

Blount was a welder and mechanic for 38 years in Oklahoma City. In 1982, he retired from Time DC Freight Lines.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He was also a Purple Heart recipient.

Blount moved to Conroe, Texas, from Oklahoma City six years ago.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9265, a life member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and American Prisoners of War Central Oklahoma Chapter. Blount was also a member of Capitol Hill Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sisters, Joy Cannon and Charlene Harwell.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Dale Scott of Conroe, Texas, and Paula and Tim Daigle of Conroe, Texas; their mother, Viola Jo Blount of Conroe, Texas; eight grandchildren, Tyson Risner and wife Kelly, Darla Munzuris, Gregory Wood, Carrie Risner, Cody Scott, Cory Scott, Timmy Daigle and Jaclyn Daigle; one great-grandson; sister, Juanita Rider of Lamar, Colo.; brothers-in-law, Adrian Cannon of Shawnee, and Neal Harwell of Checotah; and many other relatives.

Visitation is set for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. The Rev. Leon Lutts will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Marvin F. Chambless

McLoud resident Marvin F. Chambless, 79, died Thursday.

He was born in McLoud on Nov. 11, 1921, the son of John and Susan (Richardson) Chambless.

He was in the Army Air Corps and served in World War II. He retired from Phillips Petroleum.

Preceding Chambless in death was his son, Marvin Chambless Jr.

Survivors include sons, John Chambless of Harrah and Eric Chambless of Midland, Texas; sisters, Inez Butts of Shawnee; Oleta Newton of Shawnee and Cleo Murphy of McLoud; grandson, Eric Chambless II of Midland, Texas, and many other relatives.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel in Harrah. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in McLoud.

Estel Whisler Evans

Estel Whisler Evans died Thursday in her Shawnee home. She was 87.

Services are pending under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Zachary Dale Cleere

Zachary Dale Cleere, infant son of Alvin and Carol (Gokey) Cleere of Shawnee, died Friday in Oklahoma City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetary.

Further arrangements are pending.

Hattie Elisabeth Stice

Hattie Elisabeth Stice died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 98.

She was born March 2, 1903, the daughter of George Newton and Mima (Brooks) Waldby. She was a school teacher for many years.

She married George "Dewey" Stice Jan. 17, 1925.

Her parents, husband and five daughters preceded her in death.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Merle and Christine Stice of Bartlesville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lavon and Don Dahlke of Sallisaw and Beth and Al Lessmann of Oklahoma City; sister, Nell Waldby of Alameda, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Friends Church in Chandler with the Rev. Bruce Newby officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.

Memorials may be made to any hospice provider.

Cordie M. Brown

Cordie M. Brown of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 87.

Brown was born April 10, 1913, in Missouri to James Madison and Almeda Wiseman.

She married W.E. Brown on April 10, 1933, in Sapulpa.

A homemaker, she moved to Shawnee in 1933 and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Firemen's Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, brother, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and brothers and one great-grandchild.

Private graveside services were held Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 343, Shawnee, OK 74801.

Olga Norma Yeager

Olga Norma Yeager of Shawnee died Wednesday at a local nursing home. She was 88.

She was born Sept. 20, 1912, in Littlem Okla., to Tom and Sadie Davis.

She married Allen Forrest Yeager May 20, 1931, in Seminole. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1989.

Yeager was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church and Christian Women's Fellowship.

She also was a past member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 43 and American Legion Auxiliary.

Yeager moved to Shawnee from Ponca City when her husband was transferred to Shawnee by Carpenter Paper Co.

Surviving is her daughter, Saundra Chamber of Shawnee.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. James Sill Jr. officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Sharon Kay Dutcher

Sharon Kay Dutcher died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 61.

She was born Oct. 6, 1939, in Blanchard, Okla., the daughter of David Thomas and Ona Elizabeth (McConnell) Hatter.

She had been a resident of Prague since 1974 and a former resident of Blanchard.

Dutcher worked as a waitress and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prague.

Her father preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sons, Terry Lynn Dutcher, Sand Springs, Tommy Neal Dutcher, Prague, and Tracy Gene Dutcher of Tecumseh; her mother, Ona Hatter, Blanchard; one grandson, Steven Ray Dutcher of Prague; one sister, Barbara Carver, Goodrich, Texas.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Prague Cemetery with Brother Tim Emmons officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Rex Lee Thompson

Former Shawnee Municipal Judge Rex Lee Thompson, 70, Shawnee, died Wednesday.

Thompson was born Aug. 9, 1930, in Temple, Okla., to Eddie and Bessie Thompson. He graduated from Temple High School and served as a submariner in the U.S. Navy.

He attended Cameron College and Oklahoma State University and worked as an insurance adjuster in Shawnee while earning a law degree from Oklahoma City University.

Thompson worked as assistant district attorney in Waurika and Duncan before moving to Shawnee, where he served as assistant district attorney before beginning his own law practice. He also served as judge in the towns of McLoud, Tecumseh, Dale and Shawnee and served as supreme judge for two area tribes before retiring.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Pauline Thompson, Oklahoma City; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patricia Copeland, Oklahoma City; Janice and Gerald Lee, Elgin; special friend, Beverly Stamps, Shawnee, and her daughter Kathy Carey of California; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Viewing and visitation will be 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Church of Christ, Shawnee, under the direction of Baggerly Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, with Virgil Trout and Delbert Akin officiating. Burial follow at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery, Lawton.
