Charles Wayne Adams
Lifelong Seminole County resident Charles Wayne Adams died Sunday at a Shawnee hospital. He was 61.
He was born Dec. 28, 1939, in Holdenville to Robert Burnie and Mable Lenora (Coston) Adams.
He married Dorothy Toney on April 5, 1958, in Seminole. He owned Adams Body Shop in Seminole.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Seminole, the Mason Lodge as a 32 Degree Scottish Rite, India Shriners, Eastern Star, Trico Clowns and the Elks Lodge.
Preceding him in death were his father, Robert B. Adams; sister, Glenda Posey; and brother, Darrell Davis.
Surviving are his mother, Mable Boatman of Seminole; wife, Dorothy Adams of the home; son, Ronnie Adams of Wolf; daughters, Saundra Rice of Seminole and Donna Adams of Maud; brother, Winford Adams of Seminole; two sisters, Norma Bullock of Hominy and Carol Douglas of Perryton, Texas; eight grandchildren, Charlie, Nick and Chris Rice, Gary and Brandy Winkcompleck, Crista, Aaron and Dillon Adams; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Seminole with the Rev. David Karges officiating. Burial will follow in Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Lurlene Rice
Lurlene Rice of Shawnee died Monday at a local nursing home. She was 74.
She was born May 15, 1926, in Guymon to Charlie and Beulah (McNee) Pickard. She attended Prague and Meeker schools. She married Daniel Rice Dec. 11, 1949, in Meeker and was a homemaker.
She lived in Shamrock, Okla., until 1936 and moved to Shawnee in 1950.
Preceding her in death were her father; sister Nadine Haley on May 15, 2000; brother-in-law, Butch Littleton; and one infant sister.
She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are her husband, Daniel Rice of Shawnee; mother Beulah Pickard, Tecumseh; brother and sister-in-law, Everett and Freda Pickard of Tecumseh; sister, Bertha Littleton of Tecumseh; two nephews and their wives, Jimmie and Jennie Pickard of Shawnee and Bryan and Nancy Pickard of Meeker; one niece and her husband, Ruth and Doug West, Tecumseh; and a number of great-nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Leon Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Velma Neely Prewitt
Ada resident Velma Neely Prewitt died Saturday in Ada. She was 79.
She was born Oct. 7, 1921, in Sasakwa, the daughter of Jess and Francis Foran Neely. She spend most of her life in the Sasakwa area and lived 16 years in Ada. She was a beautician.
On Aug. 11, 1938, she married Noel George Prewitt in Ada.
Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; three brothers, Earl Neely, John Neely and Arlie Neely; and a sister, Alene "Tootsie" Thomas.
Survivors include a son, Noel Gene Prewitt, and a sister, Mildred Birdwell.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Vamoosa Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa.
Ida Cone Limke
Ida Cone Limke, 100, Tecumseh, died Friday in Tecumseh.
She was born Feb. 25, 1901, in Trousdale, the daughter of Henry F. and Ida (Davidson) Harmon. She was raised in Trousdale, in what was then known as Indian Territory.
On Feb. 10, 1923, she married Edward H. Limke in Purcell.
Mrs. Limke and her husband lived on a farm near Trousdale until their 1948 move to Tecumseh.
She was a homemaker and helped her husband in his carpentry business. She also worked at Girls Town in Tecumseh, which is now known as C.O.J.C., as a dorm mother.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, and one daughter and son-in-law, Dorene and Floyd Williams.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Bessie Limke of Oklahoma City, Gilbert and Billie Jean Limke of Sulphur and Harley and Jeannette Limke of Choctaw; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. D.W. "Red" Barnes will officiate. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.
Delmar Creed Roberson
Delmar Creed Roberson, 79, Stroud, died Friday in Stroud.
The son of James Clifton and Nettie Geneva (Sowards) Roberson was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Davenport. He was a lifetime Stroud resident.
Roberson, a member of First Baptist Church of Stroud, was retired from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. He also was a rancher.
On Feb. 26, 1955, he and Ethel Ruth Lamb were married in Cushing.
Preceding him in death were his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Bitsy Roberson of Stroud; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Dena and David Holman of Oklahoma City; Gayla and Bob Hein and Jan and Mitch Wishon, all of Edmond, and Teri McElyea of Okemah; nine grandchildren, Jaime Wilkerson, Bon Roberson, Clifton McElyea, Marilynn and David Holman, Rachel and Daniel Hein, Laine and Adele Wishon and many other relatives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Stroud. The Rev. Burl Mackey will officiate. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Stroud.
Clifford Wayne Lena
Clifford Wayne Lena, 56, Konawa, died Saturday.
Lena was born June 13, 1944, in Konawa to Hattie Harjo and Newman Lena.
He was a horse trainer and a lifelong Konawa resident.
Survivors include his mother, Hattie Harjo, Konawa; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Manuel and Margie Lena, Wewoka, and Bobby Wayne Lena, Seminole; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel, Konawa, with the Rev. Dorsey Nero and the Rev. Ed George officiating. Burial will be at Burgess Cemetery. A night service will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Pickard Chapel.
Nova M. Brewer
Nova M. Brewer died Friday in Casa Grande, Ariz. The Shawnee resident was 70.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
Kaleb Motley
Kaleb Motley died Saturday in an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was the 1-day-old son of Troy and Erin Motley of McLoud.
Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
Lonnie Edward Maxwell
Lifelong Konawa resident Lonnie Edward Maxwell died Saturday. He was 88.
Maxwell was born July 3, 1912, in Calvin to Lola and Arthur Maxwell. He married Artie Maxwell Nov. 2, 1936, at Konawa.
He was a farmer and pipeline construction worker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Artie Maxwell, of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Joe and Ceola Maxwell, Harrah; Loyd and Evalyn Maxwell and Edward and Margie Maxwell, all of Konawa; J.L. and Donna Maxwell, Seminole; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Kathleen and Billy Parks, Bowlegs; Evyleen and Dewayne Lemmings, Konawa; Dorothy and Dale Slaring, Wewoka; daughter, Aline Dyer, Seminole; 28 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Roy Dean Maxwell.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Mitch Williams officiating. Burial will be at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa.
Cecil Barker
Cecil Barker died Sunday in an Oklahoma City hospital. The Tecumseh resident was 73.
He was born in Oklahoma City on April 15, 1928, the son of Cecil Henry Barker Sr. and Ollie Marie (Brisco) Barker .
He attended school in Oklahoma City.
On Dec. 19. 1959, he and Faye Morgan married in Fort Smith, Ark.
Barker worked as a salesman for various companies. He served time in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marines. During his Army tour, he served in the Korean conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was a member of Pink Baptist Church, and the 13-Gallon Blood Donors Group. He served as master of Uriah Lodge in 1994 and was a dual member in the Tecumseh Lodge.
He had lived in Tecumseh since 1976.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Edward Barker; and one sister, Dorothy Barker.
Survivors include his wife of the home; children, Ellen Eustice and Pat Arnett, both of Wichita, Kan., Janette Woods of Carey, N.C., Tom Donavan of Glendale, Ariz., and Glen Barker of Tecumseh; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Warren Barker officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
