Eleanor A. May

Shawnee resident Eleanor A. May died Sunday in an Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 52.

She was born Jan. 25, 1949, in Mobile, Ala., the daughter of Benjamin and Eunice Elizabeth (Rowell) Onderdonk. She graduated from high school in Centerville, Ala., later attending Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.

On July 3, 1977, she married Edwin May in Centerville.

Mrs. May, a homemaker, had lived in Shawnee for about 20 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Joseph Onderdonk, and sister, Carmen Hoggle.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two brothers, Michael Onderdonk of Chattam, Ala., and Richard Onderdonk of Mobile; a sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Bill Rowen of Mobile; two brothers-in-law, Troyce Hoggle of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Larry May of Shawnee; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Louise and Harold May of Shawnee; one niece and one nephew.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home. The Rev. Bruce Colbert will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Louise Fowler

Tecumseh resident Louise Fowler, 90, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery. Further arrangements are pending.

Olen Harvey Kirchmeier

Former Meeker resident Olen Harvey Kirchmeier died Monday at his home in Richardson, Texas. He was 76.

Kirchmeier was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Lincoln County to Matthew H. and Carrie Ann (Dwight) Kirchmeier.

He attended Union Grade School and graduated from White Rock School. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from Oklahoma A&M in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II. He was a commissioned lieutenant and served as a navigator.

Kirchmeier married Verna Lee Nicely on June 16, 1951, in Meeker.

He retired from Celanese Corporation in 1983 after 30 years of service. His parents and brother Robert Kirchmeier preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Verna Lee Kirchmeier of Richardson, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Marsha Kirchmeier of Plano, Texas, and Mark Kirchmeier of Dallas; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Tommy Worsham of Leander, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Janice Kirchmeier of Visalia, Calif., a sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Charles Galloway of Meeker; five grandchildren, Brook Kirchmeier, Jaime Kirchmeier, Jared Kirchmeier, Samantha Worsham and Casey Worsham, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the New Hope Cemetery, Meeker, with the Rev. Joseph Sinko officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Everett Sylvester Culvey

Former Baltimore Bullets basketball player Everett Sylvester Culvey died Monday. He was 79.

Born July 8, 1921, in Harrah, he was to Ezbon and Edith Culvey. He served in Guam and the Aleutian Islands in the Seabees division of the Navy during World War II.

On Jan. 3, 1943, he and Anna Marie Skorkowsky were married.

He also was a welder and was a longtime dairy farmer.

During the retirement years, Culvey and his wife stayed at Grand Lake, Lake Tenkiller, Hugo Lake, Lake Eufaula and Oologah Lake. The couple later settled in Grove.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Evetta Ann Culvey; four sisters, Ruth, Delma, Margie and Edith; one brother, Junior Culvey; and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughter, Rose Marie Gurney of Owasso; three sons, Alan Culvey of Rattan, Pat Culvey of Grove and Mike Culvey of Grant; five grandchildren, Patricia Culvey, Stephen Gurney, RosAnne Gurney, Brian Culvey and Chris Culvey, and one great-grandson, all of Oklahoma.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah.

Annie Cordelia Herrold

Lifetime Luther resident Annie Cordelia Herrold, 89, died Tuesday in Collinsville.

She was born Sept. 4, 1911, in Luther, the daughter of Joseph and Annie (Salisbury) Weber.

She married Bethel G. Herrold Dec. 24, 1942, in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Herrold was the last school teacher at Captain Creek School in Lincoln County. She was a member of Church of Christ in Luther.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, five sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bethel Joe and Margie Herrold of Collinsville; granddaughter and her husband, JoDawna and Todd Turner of Collinsville; grandson and his wife, Dwayne and Shannon Herrold of Broken Arrow; two great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Chandler. Ken Murrell will officiate. Burial will follow in Wellston Cemetery.

LeRoy Herrell

LeRoy Herrell, 69, Shawnee, died Tuesday in Shawnee.

He was born in Shawnee on July 23, 1931, the son of John J. and Alta Mae (Cross) Herrell. He attended Shawnee Public Schools and had coached Mighty Mite Football for the YMCA.

Herrell owned LeRoy's Small Engine Repair. He was also a deputy sheriff under Herb Stroud and retired as a captain from Pinkerton Security.

On March 25, 1949, he married Barbara Lee Stith at Seminole.

He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Shawnee Jaycees. He was chairman of the American Heart Association.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; children and son-in-law, Lee Ann Wingo, Rhonda Austin (Stanley) and Gary Don Herrell, all of Shawnee; Susan Stevenson of Tulsa, and Larry J. Herrell of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Paul Calmes will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Louise Fowler

Louise Fowler, 90, Tecumseh, died Tuesday at a local nursing home.

She was born Oct. 11, 1910, west of Tecumseh, the daughter of Cary and Lavina (Russell) Mitchell. She attended school at Centerpoint and Bethel schools.

The Bethel Methodist Church member was a homemaker.

On Oct. 15, 1932, she married Sebern Lee Fowler, who preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1999.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; infant daughter, May Cary Lee Fowler, and three brothers, William, Thomas and Abner Mitchell.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Jim Baldwin of Modesto, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Gerona Fowler of Shawnee; four grandsons, Mark Baldwin, Kevin Baldwin, Eric Baldwin, and Rodney and his wife, Ami, Fowler; two granddaughters and their husbands, Pam and Mark Hatchard, and Kim and Rick Winsett; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jean Mitchell of Virginia; Rose and Carl James of Shawnee; Ella Mae Sparkman of North Carolina, and Jim Sandefer of Tecumseh, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Larry Goins will officiate. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery.

Eleanor A. May

Eleanor A. May of Shawnee died Sunday at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 52.

She was born Jan. 25, 1949, in Mobile, Ala., to Benjamin Onderdonk and Eunice Elizabeth (Rowell) Onderdonk. She graduated from high school in Citronelle, Ala. She later attended Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.

The homemaker lived in Shawnee about 20 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Joseph Onderdonk and sister Carmen Hoggle.

Surviving are her husband, Eddie May, of the home; two brothers, Michael Onderdonk of Chattam, Ala., and Richard Onderdonk of Mobile, Ala.; a sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Bill Rowen of Mobile, Ala.; two brothers-in-law, Troyce Hoggle of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Larry May of Shawnee; niece Liz Walker of Citronelle, Ala., nephew Joe Hoggle of Birmingham, Ala., her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Louise and Harold May of Shawnee, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Colbert officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Rosie Suva

Prague resident Rosie Suva died Wednesday in Prague at the age of 87. Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Rodney John Snodgrass

Porum resident Rodney John Snodgrass died Wednesday in Muskogee at the age of 75.

Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Forest Hill Cemetery. Further arrangements will be announced by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Ada Ray Gray

Ada Ray Gray, 94, Shawnee, died Thursday at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Brown Cemetery with Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Rodney John Snodgrass

Rodney John Snodgrass of Porum died Wednesday in Muskogee. He was 75.

Snodgrass was born April 30, 1926, in Shawnee to John David and Lillie (Upton) Snodgrass. He attended school in Shawnee.

On Dec. 30, 1978, Snodgrass married Sibbal (Fullbright) Rogers in Enid.

He worked with Shawnee Milling Co. for 45 years, retiring in 1988. He had lived in Porum since 1995 and grew up in the Church of God.

A World War II veteran, Snodgrass served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter No. 4446 in Stigler and the Disabled American Veterans of Mid-Del Chapter 39 in Midwest City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Snodgrass, two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Sibbal A. Snodgrass, Porum; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Been, Shawnee; Nelda and Bob Phillips, Shawnee; Tammy and J.T. Force, Tucson, Ariz.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Clara Snodgrass, Oklahoma City; Teddy and Vicki Rogers, Tecumseh; Allen and Tiffney Rogers, Shawnee; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hill Cemetery with Ricky D. Parker officiating. Cooper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
