Idele L. Archer

Idele L. Archer died Wednesday in her Tecumseh home at the age of 77.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home. The Rev. Eldon Archer will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

She was born in Pleasant Home, Neb., on July 18, 1923, the daughter of John Roy Parkis and Vernie Ethel Sargeant. She grew up and attended school in Sentinel, Okla.

In 1940, she and Gilbert W. Archer married in Hobart.

Mrs. Archer was a homemaker and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

She had lived in the Tecumseh area since 1954.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, two sisters, two brothers and one son, Ronald Archer.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Eldon and Sharon Archer of Pauls Valley, and Darrell and Arlene Archer of Tecumseh; sisters, Vernal Myers of Bethany, and Wyona Young of Ulysses, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Agnes J. Prather

Shawnee resident Agnes J. Prather died Saturday at a local hospital at the age of 91.

She was born July 11, 1909, in Bartlesville to Claude and Mary (Sears) Anderson. She married George Louis Prather Dec. 25, 1932, in Copan.

Mrs. Prather, a homemaker, had lived in Shawnee since 1960. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, grandson David Prather and three brothers, Floyd, Ernie and Raymond Anderson.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Peggy Prather of Huffman, Texas; Jerry and Glena Prather of Prague; and Gwin and Zelda Prather of Earlsboro; two sisters, Mildred Circle and Claudine Waits, both of Ochelata, Okla.; one brother-in-law, Robert Prather; two sisters-in-law, Theda Prather and Elizabeth Mantooth; seven grandchildren, Ron Prather, Sherry Kilough, Jimmy Conway, Keith Prather, Alicia Prather, Angela Price and Alan Prather; 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Mike Blocker officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.

Rickey Don Hartman

Rickey Don Hartman, Oklahoma City, died Thursday in Oklahoma City. He was 45.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Liberty Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike Presley will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born May 30, 1956, in Panama, Okla., the son of Paul Ray and Opal Marie (Morris) Hartman.

Hartman graduated from Shawnee High School in 1974.

Hartman was a warehouse supervisor for Autocraft Industries, formerly known as Fred Jones Ford, in Oklahoma City.

Hartman, a member of the First Church of God in Shawnee, was a United States Golf Association member. He was active with several softball teams. He had lived in Shawnee most of his life, moving to Oklahoma City about five years ago.

His mother preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Justin Hartman of Tulsa and Barrett Hartman of Shawnee; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bob and Carol Hartman of Shawnee, and Randy Harris of Oklahoma City; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda Hartman and Roger Abbott of Falls Church, Va.; his father, Paul Ray Hartman of Romney, W.Va., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Wilbur Allen Leatherman

Wilbur Allen Leatherman died Sunday at the age of 86.

He was born in McLoud on July 14, 1924, to Sam and Ruth Marie (Butler) Leatherman.

He attended Mount Olive Baptist Church in McLoud during his youth.

He had attended McLoud and Kickapoo District No. 117 elementary schools. He also attended Dunbar schools during his high school days.

Leatherman was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Corps after serving during World War II. During his service, Leatherman was a marksman. He was decorated during World War II with the Victory Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He then served as a representative for the Disabled American Veterans, assisting veterans in obtaining their benefits.

In 1957, he and Alice E. Bray were married. The couple lived in Shawnee and Brooksville.

Leatherman joined the Union Missionary Baptist Church on Oct. 7, 1962, and was ordained a deacon in 1964. He worked as a deacon for 36 years, and served as Baptist Training Union Director, Sunday school teacher and president of the Brotherhood.

Leatherman worked at Tinker Air Force Base in the aircraft maintenance department. He retired after 31 years of service.

He also served on the Board of Commissioners for the Shawnee Housing Authority for 18 years and served as city councilman for the city of Brooksville. Leatherman was a former 32nd degree Mason and a member of the New Light Lodge No. 113. He had served as junior and senior wardens.

His parents and one sister, Laverne Leatherman, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife; sisters, Dorothy Louise Crain, Hazel Burdine and Johnetta Phillips; children and their spouses, Ruth Marie Garner, Pat and Freddie Wright, Ronnie and Teresa Hale, Ycedra Leatherman and Kenneth Daughty, Sheryl Leatherman and Dennis Milton, Anita Leatherman and Eddie Taylor, Tina Leatherman and Eli Richardson and Wilbur A. "Buddy" and Camara Leatherman; 31 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Union Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee. Arrangements are under the direction of Keller Funeral Home, Wewoka.

Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Frances Louise Wilson

Frances Louise Wilson died Sunday in a local nursing home at the age of 78.

She was born to Red and Ruth Olbert on Oct. 6, 1922, in Kremlin, Okla.

She was a graduate of Hillsdale High School and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She served as Sunday school teacher, choir member and was a member of the United Methodist Women.

On March 25, 1943, she married Elwood B. Wilson Jr. at the First United Brethren Church in Enid.

Wilson worked as an accounts payable secretary and receptionist for Newton Wall Company for a time. She also was an artist.

Her parents and one granddaughter preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of Shawnee; children and their spouses, Terry and Lisa Wilson of Gig Harbor, Wash., Greg and Polly Wilson of Durant and Paula and Mike Peters of Yukon; grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Tim Wilcox, Tyler Wilson, Jared Davis, Reagen Davis, Teran Davis, Linsy Davis, Kimberly Wilson, Brad Wilson and Marlena Wilson; five great-grandchildren; and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Eldon Shrewsbury of Enid, Ella Mae and Harry Schutlz of Kremlin, Fredith Crouse of Hillsdale and Edith Hutchison, also of Enid.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Burress will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Charles Emory Smith

Charles Emory Smith died Sunday in his Prague home at the age of 94.

Born in Okfuskee County, Indian Territory, on Nov. 28, 1906, he was the son of George Riley and Frances Catherine (Walker) Smith.

He had lived in the Prague area most of his life, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Prague.

In 1978, he retired after 16 years as a sexton at the Prague Cemetery.

On June 20, 1931, he married Helen Coleman in Micawber, Okla.

Smith was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers, three sisters and one daughter, Mary Ann (Smith) Gregory.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Ruth Smith, Jerry and Sharon Smith and Sam and Linda Smith, all of Prague; daughters and sons-in-law, Carley and Edwin Day of Great Bend, Kan., Joyce and Gene Ellison, Frances and T.J. Simek, Sue and Deryle Schima and Mindy and Dan Calger, all of Prague; sister, Gladys Underwood of Prague; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Prague. The Rev. Tim Emmons will officiate. Burial will be in Prague Cemetery. Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague is in charge of arrangements.

Geneva Higdon Byrd

Tecumseh resident Geneva Higdon Byrd died Tuesday at the age of 72.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Glen Pence will officiate. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery near Byng.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Alvin Franklin McCool

Alvin Franklin "Frank" McCool died Sunday at the age of 42.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.

He was born in Arizona on Sept. 20, 1958, the son of Alvin LeRoy and Ola (Pass) McCool. He was living in Oklahoma City at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife Brenda of the home; daughters, Shelly and Nicole McCool, also of the home; brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen and Joyce McCool of McLoud, Alvin and Donna McCool and Ralph McCool, all of Newalla; sister, Jennifer Whatley of Wellston; and his mother, of Newalla.

Asa Smith Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
