Jim Webster

Jim Webster, 64, Shawnee, died Thursday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Webster was born July 17, 1937, in Paoli to Clovis and Thelma Webster. He was raised in Purcell.

On Jan. 26, 1968, he married Ojeta Carty in Spencer.

Webster was self-employed and moved from Bristow to Shawnee in July 1995. Eight years ago, he received a heart transplant.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Ojeta Webster, of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law, Brook and Stan Easley and Traci and Wayne Jaggars, all of Shawnee; five grandchildren, Gregg Wilson and wife Brandy, Denise Wilson, Bailey Jaggars, Ethan Jaggars, Gracie Jaggars; five brothers, Joe Webster, Jerry Webster Dale Webster, William Webster and J.B. Webster; three sisters, Mary Schacher, Pat Gragg and Lona Northcutt; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Monday at Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Orvil McGehee and the Rev. Terry Webster officiating.

Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Kyla Madison Whitman

Kyla Madison Whitman, daughter of Daniel Lloyd and Michelle Renee (Mobley) Whitman of Chandler, died Friday in Oklahoma City at the age of 3.

She was born Sept. 6, 1998, in Edmond.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Church of the Nazarene, Chandler, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel of Chandler.

Also surviving are her grandparents, Orville and Shirley Mobley, Chandler; Robert Whitman, Union City, Miss.; Brenda Whitman, DeRidder, La., and great-grandparents, Mary Hoover, Chandler; Henry Whitman, Oklahoma, and Lucille Auter, Louisiana.

Wendell C. Hey

Wendell C. Hey, 81, Tecumseh, died Monday in Shawnee.

He was born April 14, 1920, in Overbrook, Kan., to Roscoe E. and Cecil (Goodell) Hey.

As an infant, he moved to Tecumseh with his parents and lived there all his life.

He was a 1938 graduate of Tecumseh High School.

In April 1942, Hey entered the U.S. Army Air Corps for training at Will Rogers Air Base in Oklahoma City. He was sent to Louisiana for additional training, and in November 1941 he was in Africa, where he worked as a radio mechanic and took part in the landing at Anzio in June 1944. From there, he went to Rome, France and Augsburg, Germany.

Following his military service, he attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his bachelor's of electrical engineering in 1950.

Upon returning from military service, he joined his family's business. His parents opened Hey Electric and Radio Company in Tecumseh in 1925.

Following the death of his parents in the early 1960s, he and his sister, Anna Marie, and brother, Lester, continued the family business as partners.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters, Emma Lou Gentry, Anna Marie Brown and Maxine Rosey Hey; and two brothers, Melvin Hey and Howard Hey.

Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Lester and JoAnn Hey of Midwest City; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family has designated the Scholarship fund at Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh as appropriate for memorials.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William H. Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Brandi Rose Rivera

Brandi Rose Rivera, 7 months, of Lewisville, Texas, died Sunday at her home.

Survivors include her parents, Franco and Dava Rivera; her maternal grandparents, Judy and David McKinney of Kingston; four brothers, Shareif Darweesh, Ashraf Darweesh, Shaddy Darweesh and Eric Rivera, all of Lewisville; her paternal grandfather, Ignacio Rivera of Mexico; her maternal great-grandfathers, David H. McKinney and C.B. "Red" Conner, both of Seminole; and other family members.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Little Cemetery, with Chris Stinnett officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home.

Mervin S. Bergsten

Shawnee resident Mervin S. Bergsten died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was 85.

Bergsten was born March 27, 1914, in Champion, Neb., the son of Ivil and Pearl (Stevens) Bergsten.

He grew up in Crete Community, Neb., and later lived in Colorado and Nebraska before moving to Shawnee in 1994.

He married Vera McCoy on Dec. 25, 1935. She preceded him in death. He later married Lou Boutwell on April 17, 1997.

Bergsten was a retired farmer and owned a wholesale and retail gasoline business in Colorado.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and a past president of the Lions Club in Cope, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Bergsten; a great-grandson; his parents; a brother; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Lou Bergsten, Shawnee; a son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Mary Bergsten, Shawnee; a daughter, Collette May, Livermore, Colo.; stepchildren, Karen and Arthur Wells, Shawnee; Sharon and Sam Slattery, and Gary Powers, all of Yuma, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Steve Bergsten, Dallas, Texas; David Bergsten, Shawnee; Cheryl Pfeffer, Dallas, Texas; Roxanna May, Aurora, Colo.; Juliana May, Fort Collins, Colo.; a great-granddaughter, Ellen Pfeffer; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 157, Shawnee, OK 74801.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ernest Strong officiating.

Lois Martin

Harrah resident Lois Martin died Wednesday in Midwest City. The former Holdenville resident was 86.

She was born July 5, 1913, on Tate Mountain. She was a school teacher, seamstress and housekeeper. She lived in Harrah since 1978. She was a member of the Harrah Free Will Baptist Church and was active in the Senior Saints Sunday school class.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, John, Harrah; and Wayne and Jean, Shawnee; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Denney, Betty and Asa Smith, Paula and John Dunlap, all of Harrah; and Carolyn and Mike Agan, Pittsburgh, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, Russ Martin, Deer Park, Wash.; Scott Martin, Los Angeles, Calif.; Steve Martin, Harrah; Adam Denney, Harrah; Chris, Gary and David Denney, Denver, Colo.; Bob and Cass Smith, Harrah; Geoff Agan, Harrah; Cami Agan, Oklahoma City; Matt Trow, Norman; and Jessica Dunlap, Harrah; 16 great-grandchildren; and brother, Farris.

She was preceded in death two months ago by her husband of 65 years, Harry. She also was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, three sisters and a grandson, Mark Allen Denney.

Survices will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Free Will Baptist Church of Harrah. Burial will be in Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.

Lillie Versia Sneed

Lillie Versia Sneed died Wednesday in Chandler. She was 88.

She was born Feb. 18, 1912, in Chandler. She was the daughter of Bennie and Lillie Versia (Humphery) Jones.

She married Ostell Sneed Sept. 27, 1927.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church of Chandler.

Survivors include her daughters, Dorthy Smith, Oklahoma City, and Nardell Maxwell and Marilyn Moore, both of Chandler; brother, the Rev. Harvey Jones Sr., San Diego, Calif.; sister, Henrietta Lacy, Fresno, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Douglas Community Center in Chandler with the Rev. Harvey Jones Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Chandler under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Juanita Bazemore

Juanita Bazemore, longtime Shawnee resident, died Wednesday in a local nursing home. She was 84.

Mrs. Bazemore was born Aug. 22, 1915, in Seminole County, the daughter of Charles Oscar and May (Reed) Helm.

She attended Shawnee schools and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1933.

She married Rex Bazemore on March 9, 1947.

Mrs. Bazemore worked as a bookkeeper for Pete Grady Motor Co. and for Bazemore Automotive.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Sarah Sunday school class.

She was a member of the Cartwright Hi-Noon Business and Professional Women's Club, and was named BPW Woman of the Year.

Mrs. Bazemore was active in the Phi Pi Club and the Time and Talent group at Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Bazemore; and her parents, Charles and May Helm.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jimmy McKinney, Oklahoma City; sister and brother-in-law, Willa Dean and Paul Sykora, Stroud; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Glenna Helm, Midwest City; sister-in-law, Gene Terrel, Midwest City; brother-in-law, Jim Bazemore, Norman; a grandson, Roy and Cindy McKinney, Yukon; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee with the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Raymond Lewis Green

Raymond Lewis Green of Harrah died Wednesday. He was 57.

He was born Dec. 15, 1942, in Cogar, Okla., to Lewis and Julia (Willis) Green.

Survivors include his sons, Jimmie Dean, James Dale and Tommy Ray, all of Harrah, and Leslie Gene, South Dakota; daughters, Bonnie Kommer, Macomb, Cindy Melton, Midwest City, and Sherry Lawson, Little Axe; brothers, Ronnie, Colorado, Frank, Harrah, Charlie, Colorado, and Oscar, Choctaw; sisters, Shirley Lemaster, Norman, and Dorthy Orr, Newalla; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many aunts, uncles, other family members and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel in Harrah. Burial will be at Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah.

Delma O. Palmer Jr.

Delma "Del" Otho Palmer Jr. of Eufaula died Tuesday in Eufaula. He was 52.

He was born July 13, 1947, in Henryetta to Delma O. Sr. and Sue Nell (Howard) Palmer.

He was a physician's assistant at the V.A. Hospital in Oklahoma City for nine years before working for Dr. McDaniels in Eufaula. He attended school in Checotah and graduated from Eufaula High School in 1965. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Rose State College in Midwest City and his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his mother, Sue Nell Palmer, Muskogee; son, Aaron Palmer, Meeker; daughter, Connie Palmer, Muskogee; sisters and brother-in-law, Pamela and Coy Andrews, Oktaha, and Theresa Whittiker, Muskogee; four grandchildren; two nieces and four nephews; two uncles and three aunts; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Richard E. Palmer in 1965.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Whisenhunt officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Checotah.

Jean Garner

Jean Garner died Tuesday in Chandler. She was 100.

She was born Jan. 3, 1900, in Calvert, Texas. She was the daughter of Claude and Emma (Mayberry) Carter.

She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Survivors include her daughter, Ethel Warren, Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, Bob Carter, Chandler; sister, Dovie Walker, Arizona; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Clearview Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. Lee Lee Lewis officiating under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.
