Cleta Jo Wade

Arkansas resident Cleta Jo Wade, 65, died Tuesday in Rogers, Ark.

She was born March 14, 1936, in Fairfax, Okla., to James (JD) Delton and Zina Lee (Cox) White.

She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1953.

She married Jeff Earl Wade April 17, 1953.

She retired from the Panama-Buena Vista School System in Bakersfield, Calif.

Wade was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Jeff of Rogers; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tony Wade of Bakersfield and Rocky and Jill Wade of Shawnee; a brother, Virgil White of Seminole; three granddaughters, Destinie and Breana Wade, both of Bakersfield; and Lisa Wade of Shawnee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. J.C. Farrand officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

The family has designated the Regional Friends of Hospice, 34 W. Colt Square Suite 1, Fayetteville, Ark. 72703 as appropriate for memorials.

Frances Elizabeth Godwin

Frances Elizabeth (Hoover) Godwin, 77, of Tulsa died Monday.

She was born in 1924 in Tulsa, the daughter of James E. and Irma H. Hoover.

She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1941 and from Monticello College in Godfrey, Ill.

She married William I. Godwin Jr. in 1943.

Later, she moved to Shawnee, where she was active in community volunteer work, raised three children and served as a part-time administrative assistant at First Presbyterian Church.

The Godwins moved to Oklahoma City in 1959. She was active in community work through Church of the Savior, where she was a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, secretary to four pastors and trip planner for the Over-Fifty group.

Loyd W. Bourne

Loyd W. Bourne, 88, McLoud died Tuesday.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Bourne and Roy Bourne; three daughters, Bonnie Dayton, Greta Sivard and Etta Basinger; a sister, Beatrice Kimp.

Services will be 2 p.m., today at First Baptist Church of McLoud with the Rev. Bill Derrick will be officiating. Burial will follow Riverside Cemetery.

Opal Rasure

Shawnee resident Opal Rasure, 89 died Monday in Longmont, Colo.

Services will 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Home.

Elvin Raymond Gleason Sr.

Newalla resident Elvin Raymond Gleason Sr., 74, died Wednesday in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include: three sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond "JR" Gleason Jr. of Bakersfield, Calif., David and Terry Gleason of Choctaw and Tommy Gleason of Bakersfield, Calif.; three brothers, Perry Gravitt Jr. of Little Rock, Ark., Alford Gravitt of Lewisville, Texas, and Jim Gravitt of Midwest City; three sisters, Mary Ellen Bell of Midwest City, June Gravitt of Midwest City and Betty Carroll Georgeles of Cheyenne, Wyo.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Harrah with the Rev. Ray Sikes of the First Baptist Church in Choctaw officiating. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery.

Rebecca Postoak Wood

Shawnee native Rebecca Postoak Wood died Saturday in Tulsa at the age of 33.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Wood; mother, Wanda Beaver Postoak of Holdenville; brothers and sisters, Lyman Postoak Jr. of Granite, Johnny Postoak of of Holdenville, Tressia July of Tulsa, Jamie Postoak, Reta Postoak, Carol Postoak, all of Tulsa, Paula Postoak of Holdenville; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Spring Baptist Church of Sasakwa with the Rev. Leon Postoak and the Rev. Billy Ray Harjo officiating. Interment will follow at the Postoak Family Cemetery of Sasakwa under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Louise C. (Schiltz) Marak

Louise C. (Schiltz) Marak, 74, of Meeker died Wednesday at a local hospital.

She was born July 21, 1927, in Ponca City to Joe and Lucia Schiltz.

She graduated from St. Mary in Ponca City.

She was a 1948 graduate of the school of nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Ponca City. She worked as a registered nurse 12 years at Prague Municipal Hospital.

She married Wilfrid Marak Nov. 10, 1948, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ponca City.

She was member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Meeker, a member of the Altar Society, Busy Bee Homemakers, the Oklahoma Nursing Association and was a church organist. She also worked for the election board.

She is survived by her husband, Wilfrid Marak of the home; eight children and spouses, Janice and Dale Broudrick, Steve and Robbie Marak, Jim Marak, Margaret Seymour, Carolyn and Darrell Sims, all of Meeker; Catherine and Dana Roberts, Karen and Donnie Wallis, all of Prague; and Karen and Donnie Wallis, Glenpool, Okla.; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Pat Schiltz, Ray and Donna Schiltz and Don and Colleen Schiltz, all of Ponca City; three brothers-in-law and spouses, Edward and Rita Marak, Joe and Louise Marak, and Louis and Philomene Marak.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Adrian Vorderlandweher, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Meeker, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. A prayer service will be 6 p.m. Friday at St. Michael Church, Meeker.

Marion Francis Ryan

Former Shawnee resident Marion Francis Ryan, 63, died Wednesday in an Oklahoma City hospital.

Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Betty Murdock

Shawnee resident Betty Murdock, 33, died Saturday in Tulsa.

She is survived by two daughters, Shashanna Wapskineah and Dakota Factor; one son, Jesse Factor; her mother, Emma Murdock; sisters and brothers-in-law, Leora and Dave Alford of Shawnee, E.J. Murdock of Tahlequah, Joann and Michael Harjo of Muskogee and Lucinda and Eddie Blanchard of Shawnee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Davis and Teddy Murdock of Shawnee, Sonny and Christina Murdock of Shawnee and Sam and Virginia Trevino of Harrah; and other family members.

She was preceded in death by father, grandmother and nephew.

Tribal rites were held Monday in Jones. Burial followed at the Kickapoo Tribal Grounds of McLoud.

Willa Fae Farris

Nowata resident Willa Fae Farris, 65, died Friday in Bartlesville.

Survivors include her husband, Dwaine Farris; three children, Douglas D. Farris, Earl A. Farris and Kathryn Hefner; four sisters, Emma Lou Schliep, Lois Anbuchon, Ollie Mae Lee and Betty Jordan; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Nowata with the Rev. James Edmison officiating.

Burial will follow at the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata.

Don G. Smith

Seminole resident Don G. Smith, 59, died Saturday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Saint Louis, Okla.

Further announcements will be released by Swearingen Funeral Home.

Bruce K. Kaufman

Edmond resident Bruce K. Kaufman, 59, died Thursday at his residence.

He was born March 1, 1942, in Goessel, Kan., to Peter R. and Linda L. (Mueller) Kaufman.

He grew up and attended school in Kansas. He graduate high school in 1960 in Newton, Kan., and later attended Bethel College in North Newton, Kan.

He married Mary Miller May 4, 1963, in North Newton. He later married Paula Jackson Dec. 12, 1986, in Galveston, Texas.

He retired with the rank of master sergeant in 1982 after 20 years of service with the U.S. Air Force where he served two tours of duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War. His first tour of duty was 1968-69 and his second was 1974.

He lived in Edmond since 1984.

Survivors include his wife, Paula, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brad and Jami Kaufman of Houston, Texas, and Brian Kaufman of Rogers, Ark.; two grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Kaufman of Houston; a brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Janet Kaufman of Wichita, Kan.; his parents, Peter and Linda Kaufman of North Newton; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth Jackson Jr. and Katrina of Tecumseh and Guy and Kim Jackson of Shawnee; two nieces; three nephews; a mother-in-law and father-in-law, Reita and Kenneth Jackson of Tecumseh; and former wife and mother of Brad and Brian, Mary Kaufman of Oklahoma City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. J.C. Farrand officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mildred J. Gibbons

Mildred J. Gibbons, 75, of Shawnee died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

She was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Shawnee, the daughter of Felix and Della Parsons.

She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1944, and married Jack Gibbons Sr. on March 10, 1947, at Fittstown, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1980.

Gibbons was a secretary at St. Paul's United Methodist Church for 10 years.

She worked for the Pottawatomie County Treasurer's office for 25 years, retiring in 1989.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Glenn and Ora Parsons, Arthur and Gerry Parsons and Howard Parsons.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Ann Childers of Bethel Acres; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack Gibbons Jr. and Debbie Givens of McLoud; a sister-in-law and her husband, Bonnie and Harold Swink of Shawnee; a granddaughter, Kailey Childers of Bethel Acres; grandson, Jimmy Gibbons of Shawnee; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Amanda Lockwood officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Emil Clarence Farris

Lifelong Bethel resident Emil Clarence (ML) Farris, 88, died Friday.

He was born Oct. 18, 1913, in Shawnee to Amos Preston and Sally Pearl Farris.

He worked as a farmer in the Bethel area and married Vivian Ayers Feb. 4, 1938.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Reta Joyce Schaus; two sons, Larry Ray Farris and David Leon Farris; a son-in-law, Harvey Binau; two sisters, Mary Lois Bourbonnais and Wanda Kamerzel; and a brother, Elmer Lee Farris.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Farris, of the home; daughter, Bonnie Binau of Tecumseh; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Emil Farris Jr. of Bethel, Richard and Jan Farris of Muskogee and Pete and Brenda Farris of Bethel; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bonnie W. Farris of Nowata; two sisters, Oneta May Jones of California and Virginia Ann Davis of Texas; two daughters-in-law, Twila Farris of Bethel and Gayle Farris of Shawnee; and a host of friends and relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Blackburn Chapel with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Burial will follow at Blackburn Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
