Sylvester L. "Buck" Hale

Shawnee resident Sylvester L. "Buck" Hale, 83, died Thursday in Shawnee.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. David Altizer officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Vesta M. Gray

Shawnee resident Vesta M. Gray, 97, formerly of Seminole, died Wednesday at a local nursing home.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Monday at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.

Further information is pending with Swearingen Funeral Home.

Lottie Frances Holland

Former Prague resident Lottie Frances Holland died Tuesday at an Edmond hospital She was 91.

Surviving relatives include sons and daughters-in-law, Elvin Holland, Converse, La.; John and Betty Holland, Wilburton.; Leo and Karen Holland, Midwest City; Bobby and Dorothy Holland, Daleville, Ala.; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Bob Suggs, Midwest City; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Holland, Oklahoma City; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel with Dr. Les Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Margaret J. Thomas

Margaret J. Thomas, 76, of Shawnee died Tuesday at her home.

She was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Samuel and Helen Terry.

Thomas was raised in southern New Jersey. She married A.L. Thomas on Nov. 19, 1949, in Elkton, Md. She had lived in Shawnee since 1992, moving here from Grove, Okla. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Surviving relatives include her husband, A.L. Thomas, of the home; a son, Lincoln James Thomas of Shawnee; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Ray Murray of Adair; three sisters, Ruth Apostle of Mantua, N.J., Alice Fortune of Westville Grove, N.J., and Jackie Bennett of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First Church of Christ Scientist or Angelic Family Hospice, 421 N. Beard in Shawnee.

Helen Pate

Helen Pate, 91, of Harrah died Wednesday.

Survivors include two sisters, Victoria Seikel of Harrah and Dorothy Towne of Colorado Springs, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.

A service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Harrah. Burial will be in the cemeteryat St. Teresa's.

Arrangements are being handled by Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Jim Leonard Rush

Jim Leonard Rush, 79, of Seminole died Wednesday at Baptist Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include his wife, Jean (Reynolds) Rush of Seminole; a son, Michael Rush of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Gwenda Jean Wyzard of Killeen, Texas.; a sister, Mabel Vangilder of Oklahoma city; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with David Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home.

Clyde F. Belcher

Clyde F. Belcher, 81, of Shawnee died Wednesday in Norman.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Belcher and Larry Belcher, both of Shawnee; a daughter, Kay Druckemiller of Shawnee; a sister, and two brothers.

Graveside service were Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Nellie Frances Nicholas

Nellie Frances Nicholas, 75, of Shawnee died Tuesday at her home.

A service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Northridge Church of Christ.

Further arrangements will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Virginia Arvilla Walden

Virginia Arvilla Walden, 91, Prague, died Monday at her home.

Surviving are four nieces, several great-nieces and nephews, 21 great-great nephews and nieces and three great-great-great nephews and nieces.

Services are 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Shady Grove Cemetery in Bald Knob, Ark., under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Junius E. Whisenant

Lifelong Choctaw resident Junius E. Whisenant, 80, died Saturday in a Midwest City nursing home.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Lyle Albright of Choctaw; two grandsons, Chris and Stacey Albright of Atlanta, Ga., and Matt Albright of Dallas, Texas; and one great-granddaughter; five sisters, Jean Maynard, Jimmie King, Maxine Hester, Nora Rainey and Katherine Sandlin; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Choctaw. Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.

Mildred Stieber

Mildred Stieber, 83, died Sunday.

Survivors include a daughter, DeEsta Dawson of Edmond; a brother, Conrad Cochran of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Fern Grissom of Miami and Almeda Stout of Choctaw; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Fischer of Pratt, Kan., and Alvena Stieber of Chandler; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Harrah United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Jameison Cemetery in Harrah.

Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Louise E. Gilliam

Louise E. Gilliam, 72, died Saturday in Rossville, Okla.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Gilliam, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwain Lee and Susan Gilliam of Denver, N.C.; a brother, Paul W. Davis of McLoud; a sister, Nola Mae Lewis of Springfield, Mo.; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Mammoth Baptist Church, Meeker, with the Rev. Joe Sinko officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Ruffus Hill

Ruffus Hill, 55, died Friday.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Shane Hill, Texas, and Shawnee and Christy Hill, Kansas; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Sheri and Bill Lochner, Oklahoma City, and Shannon and Mike Sinnette of Stratford; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Wescott, New Hampshire; and six grandchildren.

Services were Monday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in Memory Lane Cemetery.

Emma Young LaBass

Tecumseh resident Emma Young LaBass, 86, died Sunday in Tecumseh.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Franklin Sr. and Kathy Young of Tecumseh and Richard and Roseann Young of Vacaville, Calif.; two brothers, Arnold Brooks of Oakdale, Calif., and Orville Brooks of Turlock, Calif.; a sister, Leona Ketchum of Mound, Okla.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Leonard Funeral Home in Bixby with Paul Martin officiating. Burial will be in Bixby Cemetery.

Viewing will be held until 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Ronda Ruth (Tyson) Norris

Michigan resident Ronda Ruth (Tyson) Norris, 61, died Sunday in Rapid City, Mich.

Norris was born Dec. 1, 1940, in Shawnee to Dan and Marie (Truss) Tyson.

She attended school in Ketchikan, Alaska, Madill, Ardmore and Shawnee and graduated from Guymon High School in 1959. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University for two years.

On Nov. 24, 1961, she married Joseph F. Norris in Guymon.

She was a member of the Kalkaska Baptist Church in Kalkaska, Mich. She was a pastor's wife for 35 years and began a ministry with pastors' wives six years ago. She was an appointed Southern Baptist missionary with the North American Mission Board.

Norris was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Norris, Rapid City, Mich.; her mother, Marie Tyson, Oklahoma City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Desiree and Paul Kennedy of Cleveland, Ohio; Rene and Michael Craft of Houston, Texas; and Danielle Marie Norris of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, Neal, Nia, Nissa and Nora Kennedy of Cleveland, Ohio; and Russell, Robert, Rebekah and Ryan of Houston, Texas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, H. Joe and Lesley Tyson of Coatesville, Pa., and D. Paul Tyson of Kansas City, Mo.; two nieces, Rachel Tyson of Coatesville, Pa., and Olivia Tyson of St. Louis, Mo.; two nephews, Matthew Tyson of Dallas, Texas, and Truss Tyson of Norman; three uncles and aunts, including Harry and Margaret Tyson of Dale; and several cousins and friends.

Services are 1 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Dale with the Rev. Doug Parker officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Floyd Alen Richardson

Floyd Alen Richardson, 89, Shawnee, died Tuesday in Muskogee.

He was born Sept. 7, 1912, in Meeker to John Edward and Sophia Jane (Croy) Richardson.

Richardson attended Shawnee public schools and worked as a salesman.

He married Josephine J. Jones June 16, 1937, in Ada.

He was a member of the North Fork Baptist Church in Eufaula.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, and one sister.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bill Clark; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan Richardson of St. Charles, Mo.; five grandchildren and spouse, Tim and Irina Clark, Larry Clark, Sue and Gary Hughart, Jason and Kristen Richardson and Sarah Richardson; a great-grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Sanders officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
