Lula Farrall Vandaveer

Lifelong Shawnee resident Lula Farrall Vandaveer died Monday at her home. She was 97.

Mrs. Vandaveer was born Aug. 25, 1901, in Shawnee to Jennie and Charles Farrall.

She married Sid R. Vandaveer on July 23, 1921. Her husband established Vandaveer Oil and spent 53 years in the oil business. He preceded her in death in 1983.

She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1919 and spent most of her life in Shawnee.

Mrs. Vandaveer was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Class, the U.M.W. and 3-F Club for many years. She was a member of Woodmen Lodge No. 68 for more than 80 years. She also was the granddaughter of James T. Farrall, one of the four founders of Shawnee.

Survivors include her sister, Wanda Lee, El Paso, Texas; brother, Jack Farrall, El Paso, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Betty Vandaveer, Shawnee; daughters, Virginia Howerton and Betty Webster, both of Okmulgee; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Rick and Louise Vandaveer and Gregg and Jayne Vandaveer, all of Edmond; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Terry and Randy Miller, Las Cruces, N.M., Kay and Jim Johnson, New Braunfels, Texas, Susan and Charles Leggett, Muskogee, and Sharon Cimmerman, Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, her parents and two brothers.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Clewell officiating. The casket will remain open until 1:45 p.m. and will not be opened after the service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Mildred McKinney Kelly

St. Louis, Okla., resident Mildred McKinney Kelly died Monday at her home. She was 73.

She was born Jan. 29, 1926, in Witcherville, Ark., to Gene and Mattie (Hicks) McKinney.

She was a resident of the Maud-Ada area and a homemaker. She also was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Louis.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Sharon Riddle, St. Louis, Okla., Gary Riddle, Johnsonville, and Ricky and Jerri Riddle, Greenwood, Ark.; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Ronnie Lamb, Ellinwood, Kan., and Joyce and Chuck Ware, Tulsa; sister, Connie Quick, Greenwood, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Louis First Baptist Church with the Rev. Sandy Harjo officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery in Macomb under the direction of Knight Funeral Home, Maud.

Maynard W. Helms

Chandler resident Maynard W. Helms died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. He was 71.

Helms was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Fullerton, Neb., to Francis W. and Mae G. (Hoppock) Helms.

He married Sue A. Ravenscroft Feb. 5, 1972, in Oklahoma City.

He was a resident of Chandler for many years. He worked as an insurance salesman and dairy farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Helms, Chandler; sisters, Ivonne Barnhart, Lehi, Utah, and Lois Helms, Columbus, Neb.; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law.

No services will take place.

Individuals may make memorials to the charity of their choice.

Lillian Esther Moore

Lillian Esther Moore died Monday at a Shawnee nursing home. She was 82.

She was born Feb. 27, 1917, in Wewoka, to Dave Henderson Jones and Mary Galloway.

She graduated from Douglas High School in Wewoka and from Nila Jewel's Cosmetology School. She joined the Union Missionary Baptist Church and worked in many of the church's auxiliary organizations. She was a longtime member of the Excelsior Federated Women's Club, Shawnee, and the Heroines of Jericho.

In addition to her cosmetology activities, she was employed and retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. She also was the foster mother of five children: Danny, Karen Adams, King David, Davetta and June Washington.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, one sister and one brother.

Survivors include her daughter, Schelby Kaye Carthen, of the home; four sisters, Barbara J. Maddox and Tommie L. Davis, Bakersfield, Calif., Ida Lewis, Detroit, Mich., and Marguerie Jones, Oklahoma City; brother, William Henderson "W.H." Jones; granddaughters, Benita Kaye and Tai Lynn Jones; grandson, Deon Eugene Jones, of the home; one great-grandson, Dallas LaShawn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be noon Friday at Union Missionary Baptist Church, corner of Bell and Farrall streets, Shawnee, with the Rev. Clifton E. Broadous Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka, under the direction of Temple and Son Funeral Directors, Inc., Oklahoma City.

Michael Wayne McGlothin

McLoud resident Michael Wayne McGlothin died Tuesday in Midwest City. He was 31.

McGlothin was born Aug. 16, 1967, in Shawnee to Walter and Ruth McGlothin.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in McLoud.

Survivors include his wife, Shawna, McLoud; parents, Walter and Ruth McGlothin, McLoud; brothers, Tim and Carl, both of McLoud; sisters, Vicky Frost and Jackie Perryman, both of McLoud; his daughter, Michaela; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Ferrell Cemetery, Harrah. Asa Smith Funeral Service will conduct the services.

Dolores J. Franklin

Longtime Shawnee resident Dolores J. Franklin died Monday at the Shawnee Care Center. She was 65.

Mrs. Franklin was born Nov. 27, 1933, in Augusta, Ga.

She was a Jehovah's Witness.

Her husband, Hiram J. Franklin, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Henry Starr III, Moore; daughter, Judith A. Price, Shawnee; son, Anthony C. Starr, Shawnee; stepdaughter, Paula G. Moon, Moore; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1700 W. Slover, Shawnee.

Pauline Geneva Adams

Maud resident Pauline Geneva Adams died Tuesday. She was 70.

She was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Heavener to Emma Marie and Walker Bolton.

She was a homemaker who spent her last 20 years in Maud. She also was a Baptist.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and James Gilbert Sharp, Wynnewood, and Linda and Terry Morrison, Seminole; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Teresa Adams, Maud; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Konawa Cemetery with the Rev. Mitch Williams officiating under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa.

Virginia Frances Stevens Davis

Sun City Center, Fla., resident Virginia Frances Stevens Davis died Wednesday at South Bay Hospital in Sun City Center, Fla. She was 76.

She was born July 5, 1923, in Shawnee.

Mrs. Davis was a resident of Edmond from 1970 to 1985. She moved to Bonita Springs, Fla., in 1985 and moved to Sun City Center, Fla., in 1998.

She was a homemaker and member of the Republican Auxiliary Gold Wives Club. In addition, she was a Methodist.

Her husband, James F. "Jeff" Davis Jr., preceded her in death.

Survivors include her companion, Vernon Richards, Sun City Center, Fla.; sons, James F. Davis III, Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Steven E. Davis, Overland Park, Kan.; daughters, Jeffrie Lyn Powell, Sherman, Texas, and Robyn J. Davis, Santa Cruz, Calif.; brother, Wayman Stevens, Bethany; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at First Christian Church in Edmond under the direction of Family Funeral Care, Sun City Center, Fla.

Nina Mae Goodnight

St. Louis, Okla., resident Nina Mae Goodnight died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was 83.

She was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Wanette to Riley and Leona (Stover) Henry.

She married Lemuel Goodnight on Dec. 17, 1935, in Wanette.

Mrs. Goodnight graduated from Wanette High School. She was a member of the St. Louis Church of Christ. She lived in Wanette and St. Louis most of her life.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Jan Goodnight, Newcastle, Lindell and Zelda Goodnight, Mike and Sue Goodnight, Tim and Teresa Goodnight, and Kevin and Michelle Goodnight, all of St. Louis, Okla.; daughter, Carolyn Cross, Oklahoma City; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Gerd Fecht officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. The casket will remain open until service time and will not be opened after the service.

Zelma Turner

Shawnee resident Zelma (Foster) Turner died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 85.

Mrs. Turner was born Dec. 18, 1913, in Bernice, Okla., to Rufus Sutt Beck and Minnie Elizabeth (Green) Beck. She married Delmar Foster. After his death, she married E.D. Turner.

She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, E.D. Turner, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, J.D. and Jean Foster, Broken Arrow; daughters and sons-in-law, Carlene and Cecil Caldwell, Stilwell; Polly and Ongelo Pierson, Albuquerque, N.M.; Betty and Floyd Bailey and Sue and Dick Race, all of Shawnee; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Margaret Beck, Wagoner.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Delmar Foster in 1942; her parents, one brother and two sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Dwyane Dennis officiating. The casket will remain open until 1:45 p.m. and will not be opened after the service. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Allen Keith Hendricks

Midwest City resident Allen Keith "Al" Hendricks, 77, died Wednesday.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.

George Leland Miller

Former El Reno resident George Leland Miller, 53, of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, died Feb. 9.

Survivors include his wife, Charyl Miller of Saudi Arabia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dee Dee Ann and Mark Snyder and Mara Beth and Randy Heagy, all of Dale; a son, Christopher Leland Miller of Manassas, Va.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Dewayne Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.

Marion Mildred Campbell

Marion Mildred Campbell, 94, of Shawnee died in a local nursing home Friday.

Services are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
