Bertha Owens

Former Oklahoma resident Bertha Owens, Portland, Ore., died Thursday in Portland.

She was born May 13, 1921, in Watson to Thomas David and Roxie Ann (Lawrence) Tate. She married Louie Quinton Owens in Shawnee April 23, 1943.

She was reared in Oklahoma and moved in the 1960s to Eugene, Ore. She had lived in Portland for 12 years. She was an ordained minister of the Assembly of God and operated an adult foster care home.

Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son: Franklin David, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Linda Owens of Cottage Grove, Ore., Stan and Martina Owens of Crestwell, Ore.; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jim Brenman, Cottage Grove, Ore.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Carl William Brown Jr.

Graveside services for Carl William Brown Jr., 78, Shawnee, are 11 a.m. Thursday in New Hope Cemetery, Meeker.

The Rev. Sam Hendry will officiate. Brown died Monday at a local hospital.

He was born Aug. 19, 1922, to Carl W. and Charlotte Montgomery Brown in Shawnee. He was a Bethel High School graduate and retired farmer and contract worker.

He and Reva Lee Crownover were married in 1975. She preceded him in death in August 1997.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clarence Brown; one sister, Pearl Walker; and a stepson, Loyd Crownover.

Survivors include his sister, Carolyn Blackmon, Tulsa; brother and sister-in-law, Charles H. and Margaret Brown, Shawnee; three stepdaughters and their spouses; Sonja and Ed Harris; Phyllis and Gerald France, Connie and Johnny Park; three stepsons and their spouses, Harold and Pat Crownover, Jody and Marie Crownover, Lawton and Terri Crownover; and several nieces and nephews.

Roesch Walker Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Elven A. Fanning Sr.

Graveside services for Elven A. Fanning Sr., 84, Prague, are 10 a.m. Friday in the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Funeral Home.

Fanning died Monday at the Meeker Nursing Center.

He was born May 16, 1916, in Star to Lath and Sallie Rockholt Fanning.

Fanning, a resident of Lincoln County and the Prague area since moving from Sacramento, Calif., in 1988, was a welder.

He and Doris Evelyn Baker were married Aug. 7, 1937, in Donnely, Idaho.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alfred Fanning and Elba Fanning.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Fanning, Prague; three sons, Edgar Fanning, Rio Linda, Calif., Elven Fanning Jr., Pollock Pines, Calif., and Glenn Fanning, Prague; one daughter, Geraldine Burch, Rio Vista, Calif.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Edna Marie Brison

Edna Marie Brison, 90, Wellston, died Monday in her home.

Born July 15, 1910, in Checotah, she was the daughter of Charlie C. and Nannie Hogan. She was a member of the Midway Assembly of God Church in Rossville and a homemaker. She married James Brison April 29, 1940, in Maud.

Mrs. Brison was preceded in death by two husbands, Harvey Bryson and James Brison, three brothers, five sisters and one granddaughter.

Survivors include two sons, Charles W. Brison, Temple, Texas; James E. Brison, Odessa, Texas; four daughters: Beulah Minnix, Lindsay, Texas; Lula Richards, Lindsay; Wanda Threet, Wellston; Harlene Minnix, Garland, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, other family and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Midway Assembly of God in Rossville with the Rev. Donna Morton, the Rev. Marna Hillard and the Rev. Guy Minnix officiating. Burial will be at the Wellston Cemetery. Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler is in charge of arrangements. Viewing will be at the Wellston chapel.

Bill Washburn

Bill Washburn of Norman died Saturday at a Norman hospital. He was 83.

He was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Okemah to William Wandrew Washburn and Lena (McBride) Washburn.

He attended grade school in Pauls Valley, later completing his high school education while in the U.S. Army.

Washburn was an aircraft mechanic, working at Tinker Air Force Base. He was employed there 20 years and retired Nov. 1, 1963.

Washburn was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946. He was attached to the First Airborne Division and the 506 Military Police. He served in England, France, Belgium and Germany.

He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Washburn lived in Shawnee most all of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Hazel Washburn, daughter Tobie Smith, brother Glen Washburn ; sister Jackie Washburn.

Surviving are a son, Allen Washburn of Norman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Wayne Blue of Stephenville, Texas, Jeanette and Bobby Rich of Hobbs, N.M.; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Vera Washburn, Shawnee, sister Genivive O'Dell of Lancaster, Calif.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Victory Tabernacle, Tecumseh with the Rev. Robert Milsap officiating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery, arranged by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Ruth C. Gilmore

Longtime Chandler resident Ruth C. Gilmore, 105, died Tuesday in Chandler. Services are pending with Park Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

William Henry Campbell

William Henry Campbell of Shawnee died Thursday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 86.

He was born June 20, 1913, in Bowlegs. He was the son of Frank Campbell and Tinney (Stout) Campbell. He married Annabell (Deleon) Oct. 8, 1938.

Campbell, a diesel mechanic, was a resident of Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Annabell Campbell of the home; five sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Carol Campbell of Sacramento, Calif.; Gene and Marty Campbell of Wewoka; Wayne Campbell of Phoenix, Ariz.; Bill and Linda Campbell of Gilbert, Ariz.; Donny and Pam Campbell of Gilbert, Ariz.; one daughter, Debbie Campbell of Shawnee; one brother, Alan Campbell of Surprise, Calif.; two sisters, Hazel Campbell of Surprise, Calif.; Lillie Mae Skeems of Comanche; 13 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.L. Whittaker officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Jimmie R. O'Neal

Jimmie R. O'Neal of Tecumseh died Thursday in Shawnee. He was 74.

He was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Tecumseh. He was the son of Julius and Maye (Brendle) O'Neal.

He was a 1945 graduate of Tecumseh High School and a lifelong resident of Tecumseh.

On April 16, 1946, he married Evelyn Roberts in Tecumseh. He was an insurance salesman for American National Insurance Co. for 21 years, retiring in 1986.

He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Tecumseh High School Alumni Association for more than 50 years, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth O'Neal.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn O'Neal of the home; son and daughter-in-law, John and Vickie O'Neal of Seminole; three grandchildren, Kirsten and Kimi Davis of Maui, Hawaii; Kendra Davis of Houston, Texas; Fielding O'Neal of Seminole; brothers-in-law and spouses, Lloyd and Helen Roberts of Shawnee; LeRoy and Marilyn Roberts of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Alene Bowlby of Port Angeles, Wash.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Pastor Marion Hadsell of the Covenant Life Church in Seminole officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

The casket will remain open until 1:30 p.m. Saturday and not be re-opened.

Lillie Mae (Welborn) Loy

Lillie Mae (Welborn) Loy died Thursday in Vallejo, Calif. She was 80.

She was born Jan. 2, 1920, in Meeker. She married Clayton Loy on May 3, 1937, in Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Loy; parents, Jim and Rosa Welborn; four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann and Jerry Hyslop of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Myrna and Jack Webster of Benecia, Calif.; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one brother, J.W. Welborn of Meeker.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.

Leo Simon Fish

Leo Simon Fish died Friday in Oklahoma City. He was 63.

He was born June 21, 1936, in Wewoka. He was the son of Lena and Lillian (Portor) Fish.

During his active years he worked as a carpenter. He was married to Ruby Nell Gibson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lea and Mike Tsotaddle of Shawnee; two sisters and brother-in-law, Teresa and Evans Wise of Meeker; Patricia Lindsey of Sand Springs; one grandchild, one great-grandchild, a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Viewing will begin at 5 p.m. today in the Parks Chapel, Meeker. A wake will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Teresa Wise's home, 512 Floyd Drive, Meeker.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Hitchitee Cemetery, Little, with Reverend Jim Wise and Reverend Houston Tiger officiating. Burial will follow in the Hitchitee Cemetery under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler.

Elmer E. Honeycutt Jr.

Elmer E. Honeycutt Jr. of Shawnee died Thursday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 72.

He was born Oct. 27, 1927, in Shawnee. He was the son of Elmer E. "Dick" and Wanda Honeycutt.

He graduated from Shawnee High School. Honeycutt worked at the Sylvania Plant until it closed then he worked in computer maintenance a Tinker Air Force Base, retiring after 27 years of service in 1988.

He married Rose Kinnamon on July 1, 1948, in Shawnee. He was a charter member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Hilltop Baptist Church and a member of Gideons International.

He lived all his life in Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Juanita Hoskins of Shawnee in 1983 and Francis Ellison of Dallas, Texas, in 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Honeycutt of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Connie Honeycutt, Tulsa; Al and Anita Honeycutt, Oklahoma City; three granddaughters, twins Shelley and Jennifer Honeycutt, Oklahoma City; Chlo'e Honeycutt, Tulsa; grandson, Kip Honeycutt, Tulsa; nephew, Lisle Eddy, Dallas, Texas; niece, Wanda Rozzell, New Hampshire.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Nickerson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Hilltop Baptist Church Organ Fund.
