Jessie Calvin Martin

Seminole resident Jessie Calvin Martin died Saturday at a Seminole hospital. He was 67.

Martin was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Barren, Ark., to Willie and Pollie (Corbett) Martin.

He was an iron worker until his retirement 10 years ago. He also served in the U.S. Army in the 1950s.

Martin moved to Seminole eight years ago from Bakersfield, Calif.

Survivors include his sons, David L. Martin, Oklahoma, Jessie R. Martin and Terry W. Martin, Arizona, Kevin W. Martin, Oklahoma, Jessie C. Martin, California; daughters, Tina D. Harrington, Missouri, and Kimberly J. O'Connell, California; brother, Thurman Martin, Arizona; sisters, Essie Norman, New Mexico, and Audrey Phillips, Arizona; and 19 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Daniel Calvin Martin in 1977.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Virginia F. Wright

Ada resident Virginia F. Wright died Tuesday at an Ada hospital. She was 71.

Wright was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Saint Louis, Okla., to William Floyd and Bertha Ellen McGee Perry.

She married Charles E. Wright Aug. 3, 1945.

She moved to the Ada area from Shawnee in 1961. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University and Society of Interior Design Professionals course in Dallas, Texas. She owned Perry-McGee Furniture Store in Ada. After retiring, she worked part time at Campbell's Furniture Store.

She was a longtime member of the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada and taught children's Bible study. She was past local and state president of Jaycee Auxiliary and a charter member of the Society of Interior Design Professionals.

Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Wright, Ada; son, Bruce Wright, Ada; mother, Bertha Perry, Shawnee; sister, Rebecca Roach, Edmond; and brothers, Robert Perry, Shawnee, and Bill Perry, Oklahoma City.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Central Church of Christ in Shawnee with Danny Stewart, minister of Southwest Church of Christ in Ada, officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.

Lewis Ostar Davis

Longtime Stroud resident Lewis Ostar "Speck" Davis died Wednesday. He was 84.

Davis was born Dec. 21, 1914, in New Cumberland, W.Va., to Amanuel and Della (King) Davis.

He married Vesta Evone Newman Sept. 26, 1939, in Sapulpa. She preceded him in death in 1993. He was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in Stroud. Before retirement, he worked at Allied Material Corp. as a mechanic in the roofing division.

Survivors include his brothers and sisters-in-law, Theodore and Maxine Davis, Del City, and Earl A. and Dorina Davis, Rhode Island; sister- and brother-in-law, Margueritte and Buck Hollon, Stroud; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Stroud with the Rev. Kathy Leithner officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud.

Jessie Marie Kretchmar

Jessie Marie Kretchmar died Wednesday in Midwest City. She was 73.

Kretchmar was born April 5, 1926, in Delight, Ark., to Oscar and Amanda (Hanson) Denton.

She married Richard Kretchmar on June 14, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1992.

She was a housewife and member of the Faith Believers Church in Sparks, where she lived for many years.

Survivors include her son, Wayne Kretchmar, Sparks; daughters, Linda Walker, Sparks, and Gail Warden, Seminole; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at White Dove Cemetery in Sparks with the Rev. Ron Walker officiating under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler.

Marion X. Melot Sr.

Shawnee resident Marion X. Melot Sr. died Wednesday in Shawnee. He was 86.

Melot was born Jan. 7, 1913, in Shawnee to Thomas M. and Margaret Jane (Lambert) Melot.

He married Mabel Stubblefield Jan. 14, 1993, in Shawnee. She preceded him in death in 1994.

Born and raised in Shawnee, Melot lived in Guthrie from 1957 to 1992, when he returned to Shawnee. He was a pipe fitter and truck driver in the oil fields. He attended the Church of God.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Bill Farlow, Livingston, Texas, Roberta and Ed Wilson and Sue and Louis Morgan, all of Edmond, and Reba and Walter Wittenborn, Portland, Ore.; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Sandra Melot, M.X. Melot Jr., Newcastle, Jerry and Lenette Melot, Shreveport, La., and Robert Melot, Colorado; brother, George Melot, Lubbock, Texas; sisters, Gladys Johnson, Borger, Texas, and Marjorie Bailey, Lubbock, Texas; 23 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Fields; son, Vernon Melot; and granddaughter, Colleen Meek.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home .

Lana Kay Cox

Longtime Shawnee resident Lana Kay Cox died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 35.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Dale Cemetery, with the Rev. Wes Collier officiating under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Cox was born Aug. 7, 1963, in Shawnee, the daughter of J.R. and Ellen Cox. She was raised in the Dale area, graduating from Dale High School in 1981. Employed at Tinker Air Force Base for 17 years, she worked in the water treatment section of the Civil Engineering Division.

On May 30, 1985, she married Daniel Jenkins in Shawnee. She was a member of Hazel Dell Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Joshua Hunter Jenkins, of the home; her son's father, Daniel Jenkins, Shawnee; father, J.R. Cox, Oklahoma City; mother, Ellen Cox, of the home; brothers, Danny Cox, Moore, and Terry Cox, Shawnee; three nieces, Danielle, Hannah and Jessica Cox; and a nephew, Riley Cox.

Allen Leon Inman

Seminole County resident Allen Leon Inman died Wednesday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 64.

Inman was born March 27, 1935, in Sasakwa to Odas Lee and Anna Lee (Allen) Inman.

He married Edna Mae Streeter on Aug. 20, 1956, in Ada.

He worked as shipping manager for Carlon-Lamson-Session until his retirement in January of 1995. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Survivors include his wife of the home; daughters, Sheila Underwood, Seminole, and Teresa Baker, Meeker; brothers, Jimmy W. Inman, Holdenville, and Robert Lee Inman, Ada; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Inman was preceded in death by his parents and son, Allen Dwayne Inman in December of 1964.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Craig and the Rev. C.L. Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Billie L. Richmond

Cherokee Village, Ark., resident Billie L. Richmond died May 20 in Cherokee Village. The former Shawnee resident was 72.

Graveside services were 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. David Clewell officiating.

Further arrangements will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Wanna Raggé Williams

Wanna Raggé Williams of Shawnee died Monday in Seminole. She was 64.

Mrs. Williams was born Nov. 19, 1936, in Pontotoc County to Dan and Bernice Richardson. She graduated from Varnum High School and attended Seminole Junior College.

On April 3, 1982, she married Jim Williams.

Before retiring, she was employed as a bookkeeper at Resthaven Memorial Park. She also was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, where she was church librarian and president of the women's auxiliary. She also was past president of Shawnee Business and Professional Women and was active with her sons in Demolay.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Williams, of the home; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike and Rose Williams, Guthrie, Gerald Raggé, Canton, Ohio, Joseph Raggé, Tulsa, and Mike and Carrie Raggé, Grapevine, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Frena and Bob Hokans, Waterberry, Conn.; mother, Bernice Richardson, Seminole; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ina Jean and Dick McQueen, Muskogee; Alpha and Harvey Young, Seminole; Deanna and Ivan Armstrong, Stillwater; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Will and Lynda Richardson, Grand Prairie, Texas; and Vic and Maureen Richardson, Seminole.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in First Free Will Baptist Church with David McDougal officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Betty Jean Wheat

Betty Jean Wheat died Tuesday at a her home. The Seminole resident was 69.

She was born April 6, 1932, in Webbers Falls, Okla., the daughter of Earl Menie and Evelyn (Stephens) Menie.

She was a homemaker.

On Oct. 23, 1951, she married D.L. "Pat" Wheat in Van Buren, Ark.

Preceding her in death was her infant son, Derril Wheat, her parents, and two half sisters.

Survivors include her husband, D.L. "Pat" Wheat, of the home; sons, Earl Wheat of Seminole and Darren Wheat of Cromwell; daughters, Patty Burns, Peggy Haworth, Frankie Mize, Patsy Haworth, Brenda Johnson and Joann Wheat, all of Seminole; sister, Geraldine Mullins of Webbers Falls; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole. Terry Jarrard will officiate. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Oran A. Gardner

Oran A. Gardner, 84, Harrah, died Saturday.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah.

He was born March 29, 1917 in Dike, Texas. He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ardell and Konni Gardner of Norman; two daughters, Sheri Maples of Newalla and Patty Kelley of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, Dustin, John, Mandi, Angela, Lorie, Bryan and Shawn; and three great-grandchildren.

Rozella A. Griebel

Rozella A. "Rosie" Griebel died Tuesday in her Stroud home at the age of 65.

She was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Springfield, Colo., the daughter of J.E. and Sarah (Hostetler) Valliquette. On Sept. 23, 1955, she and Perry E. Griebel were married in Stroud.

She had lived in Stroud most of her life.

Mrs. Griebel owned and operated Stroud Floral and Gift and Hole-in-One Miniature Golf.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Janiee Griebel of Stroud; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Carol Valliquette of Stroud, Earl and Susie Valliquette of Crescent, Kenneth and Marie Valliquette of Crescent, Ronnie and Arlene Valliquette of Plano, Texas, and Bill and Sherry Valliquette of Stroud; a sister, Ruth Thompson of Crescent; two grandchildren, and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Stroud Cemetery.
