Lola Bernice Pearson

Tecumseh resident Lola Bernice "Bernie" Pearson died Thursday in Tecumseh. She was 70.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Rev. Floyd C. Been Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Mrs. Pearson was born April 11, 1928, in Mounds to James E. and Myrtle E. (Edwards) Austin. She lived in Oklahoma City for many years before moving to Tecumseh in 1979.

She was a wire frame supervisor and retired from AT&T in 1979. She was a member of the Portland Ave. Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Jean Ann Tooman, Tecumseh; foster son and his spouse, James "Jim" and Ginger Austin, Oklahoma City; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cleo and Frank Gaddy, Tulsa; Etta and Edward McKinnis, Choctaw; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Farris and Frances Austin, Plainville, Kan.; Eugene and Beatrice Austin, Bakersfield, Calif.; Dean and Judy Austin, Shawnee; special friend, Jesse Payne, Tecumseh; three grandchildren, Dennis, Nelson and Wesley Tooman, Tecumseh; seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Thelma R. Evridge; and brother, Lester L. Austin.

Fred Warren

Fred Warren, 80, Shawnee, died Saturday at a local hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Baldridge and Rev. C.C. Atchley officiating. Burial will be in McGee Cemetery, Stratford.

Warren was born Nov. 3, 1918, in Stratford to Everet and Willie Warren. He married Martha Hankins on June 27, 1942, in Stratford.

He was raised in Stratford and attended school in Galey. He retired from Sears in the early 1970s and lived in Shawnee for 46 years. He was a member of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Clarence Ball, Shawnee; Pat and Bob Seaborn, Meeker; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Kara Ball, Ardmore; Brad and Tina Seaborn, Del City; Debbie Seaborn, Meeker; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on Feb. 17, 1998; and his sister, Lois Eoff.

Eva Lorene Smith

Longtime Seminole resident Eva Lorene Smith died Saturday in Oklahoma City. She was 89.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 5, 1910, in Pauls Valley to Robert Franklin Pease and Mettie Lou (Montgomery) Pease. She married William McCarren Smith.

She came to Seminole from the Tidmore area in 1915 and was the former co-owner of Smith Pawn Shop in Seminole. She retired in 1985. She was a member of Ideal Street Baptist Church and a former member of Business and Professional Women.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Smith, Cortez, Colo.; Delbert Smith, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Dortha Howard, Seminole; Berniece Henry, Oklahoma City; sister, Pauline Moore, Hamilton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on Aug. 3, 1990.

Burley Okus Wimberly

Burley Okus "Bill" Wimberly, 87, Seminole, died Saturday at Pioneer Nursing Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Tate and the Rev. Jess Power officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Wimberly was a long-time resident of Seminole. He was born Feb. 23, 1919, in Bluffton, Ark., to Ode and Pearl (Kinney) Wimberly.

He married Roberta Earles July 9, 1968, in Oklahoma City.

He worked for Oklahoma Gas and Electric for 40 years.

Wimberly was a military veteran. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1939, and he served in the Army Engineers 74th Light Platoon until he received an honorable discharge July 12, 1944.

He taught adult Bible classes in several churches in the Seminole area.

Wimberly is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three children, Billy John Wimberly, Gwen Wimberly Acosta and Mike Wimberly; and several other relatives and friends.

Lt. Col. Merle Lee Davis

Lt. Col. Merle Lee Davis of Shawnee died Sunday at his home. He was 70.

He was born Aug. 14, 1930, in Shawnee, the son of Houston and Oveta (Markam) Davis.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1948.

Davis married Erlene Terrell on April 27, 1968, in Shawnee.

He was called to active duty and served in the U.S. Army with Company B 180th Infantry in the Korean conflict. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star. After active duty, he remained in the 45th Division until his retirement as a Lt. Col. in 1988.

Davis worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 36 years as section chief for the engine repairs branch.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since early childhood.

Davis was founder of the 45th Infantry Division Reunion, serving as chairman and was elected a lifetime member. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Shawnee Post 1317, and a member of the Shawnee Elks and Moose lodges.

Davis served on the Pottawatomie County Election Board and was co-chairman for the Pottawatomie Democratic Party until illness forced his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Gussie Terrell.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years Erlene Davis; children and their spouses, Darrell and Connie Markwell, Judy and Joe Johnson, all of Yukon; grandchildren and spouses, Staff Sgt. Joe and Staff Sgt. Jennifer Johnson of Fairfield Air Force Base, Spokane, Wash., Amy and Greg Feuerborn, Damon and Jana Markwell and Lindsey Markwell, all of Yukon, and Dava and Steve Peters of Shawnee; great-grandchildren, Austin and Dakota Feuerborn and Brayden Markwell, all of Yukon, and Gabrielle and Taylor Peters of Shawnee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenda and Bob States, Donna and Harold Walden and Buster and Marie Terrell, all of Prague; sister, Sharon Davis of Oklahoma City; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Don Gibson of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Garden Grove Cemetery.

Inez Dunlap

Inez Dunlap, 75, of Yukon died Saturday in Oklahoma City.

She was born Nov. 5, 1925, in McCurtain, Okla.

She had been living in Yukon for the last 29 years. She moved to Yukon from California where she had worked as a bookkeeper for 30 years for Anderson/Clayton Cotton Gins.

Survivors include her son, William of Shawnee; daughter, Dorothy Caudle of Yukon; brothers, Albert Hatley of Blanchard and Delbert Hatley of Hugo; sisters, Helen Faulkner of Keota, Okla., Jean Trahern of Tuttle and Ola Powell of Chickasha; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today in the Yukon Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith and Turner Mortuary, Yukon.

Traci Jean Hooper

Traci Jean Hooper of Ada died Friday at Seminole Medical Center. She was 14.

Hooper was born Nov. 10, 1986, in Ada to Danny Joe Hooper and Greda Lynn (Coon) Hooper.

She was an eighth-grade student at Seminole Middle School.

Hooper was a member of the Spring Church in Sasakwa.

Preceding her in death was her maternal grandfather, Arthur Coon.

Surviving are her mother, Greda Hooper of the home; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Coon of Sasakwa; sister, Kasandra Hooper of Holdenville; niece, Alisha Deatherage; aunts, Jeanetta Douglas and Rebecca Larney, both of Wewoka, Shirley Wesley of Ada, Barbara Coon and Elizabeth Coon, both of Sasakwa, and Carol McKibben and Sandy Alonzo, both of Modesto, Calif.; a great-aunt, Hazel Wood of Konawa; and uncles, Dewayne Coon of Sasakwa and Tim Hooper of Maud.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rock Spring Indian Baptist Church in Sasakwa with the Rev. Bill Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Spring Church Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Felicia Orean Coffman

Felicia "Peggy" Orean Coffman, 80, died Sunday at her Seminole home.

Mrs. Coffman was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Blackwell to Felix Orean and Ada Maude (Knight) Prunty.

She married Roy L. "Bid" Coffman in 1947 in Denison, Texas.

She moved from Blackwell to Seminole in 1946 and was a homemaker and member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband Roy L. "Bid" Coffman of the home; sons, Charles Jenkins, Madill, and Roy L. Coffman Jr., Omaha, Neb.; daughter, Rebecca Cook, Oklahoma City; sisters, Adaline Copeland, Kingfisher and Maudine Prunty, Norman; five grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Helen Peppard.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Strothers Chapel in Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Ronald G. Cummins

Ronald G. Cummins of Shawnee died Sunday at his residence. He was 58.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J.C. Farrand officiating.

Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Kenneth C. Boyd

Kenneth C. Boyd died Saturday in Tulsa. He was 73.

Boyd was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Morse, Okla., to Conard and Dennie Mae (Moon) Boyd.

He married Jeanne Boyd on Nov. 15, 1952, in Okemah. She preceded him in death on July 24, 1988. On Aug. 13, 1989, he married Sandra Kay Fisher in Okemah.

He worked as a carpenter and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

The lifelong Okfuskee County resident was a member of Morse Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Benton Boyd.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Kay Boyd of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Donna Boyd, Okemah; daughter, Pamala Alsover, Okemah; five grandchildren; brother, Harold Boyd, Muskogee; and sister, Pauline Files, Sunnyvale, Calif.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah. Burial will follow at Morse Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Clay and the Rev. Curtis Townley officiating.
