Nelson H. Hatler

Nelson H. Hatler of Tecumseh died Monday at a local nursing home. He was 90.

He was born Feb. 7, 1910, in Cord, Ark., to Andrew and Flora Hatler. He worked as a farmer and was a retired civil service employee.

He married Flossie Taylor in Arizona in 1947. Hatler lived in Tecumseh for many years and, at an early age, he moved with his family to Konawa.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife in 1993, four sisters, Ellen Nugent, Ruth Everett, Eunice Sharp and Faye Hudson, and one brother, Ivan Loyce.

Surviving are a son, Robert Hatler, of Coos Bay, Ore.; a daughter, LaWanda O'Brien of Lemon Grove, Calif.; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Doris J. Hines

Midwest City resident Doris J. Hines died Monday in Midwest City. She was 87.

Mrs. Hines was born April 15, 1912, in Tamaha, Okla. She was a registered nurse.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Paylor Funeral Home.

Sadie L. Hensley Haywood

Sadie L. Hensley Haywood died Tuesday. She was 97.

Mrs. Haywood was born Oct. 19, 1902, in Covington, Tenn., to Fred and Katie Hensley. She moved to Oklahoma in 1906 and graduated from Dale High School in 1918.

She worked as a record management analyst at Tinker Air Force Base and retired after 26 years there.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda J. Fietz, Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law, Ted M. and Karin Haywood Jr., Yukon; sister, Juanita Hensley, Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Katie Lou and Elmer Long, Lakewood, Calif.; six grandchildren, Judith Killian, Oklahoma City; Carolyn Gallant and husband Ken, Oklahoma City; Mary Fietz and husband Michael Nord, Phoenix, Ariz.; Mike Fietz and wife Sue, Miami, Okla.; John Fietz and wife Jill, Coppell, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemeteryunder the direction of Guardian Midtown Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.

Donald R. Sutterfield

Choctaw resident Donald R. Sutterfield died Wednesday. He was 61.

Sutterfield was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Stuart, Okla. He worked as a self-employed electrical contractor for the past 18 years and was a member of Harrah Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, Pat, Choctaw; son, Michael, Moore; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Perry Wynn, McLoud; grandson, Jeremy Wynn, McLoud; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Dewey and Lois, Oklahoma City; Elmer J. "Red" and Myrtle, Stuart; Calvin and Charlene, Oklahoma City; Leon and Janis, Moore; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Theola and Winfred Ritter, Tulsa; Ida and Billy Furgerson, Oklahoma City; Sue and Morris Moore, Moore; Jimmie and Ben Van Schuyver, Wanette; Dee Lemon, McAllen, Texas; mother and father-in-law, Arvie and Olevia Bowerman, Harrah; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Winford and Cora (Reece) Sutterfield.

The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Asa Smith Funeral Home, Harrah. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Choctaw Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Pryor Cemetery in Stuart.

Callie Duncan

Callie "Jackie" Duncan died Thursday in an Okemah nursing home. She was 78.

Mrs. Duncan was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Parks, Ark., the daughter of George Washington and Bertha J. (Hawkins) Scott.

She married Raymond Charles Duncan in Okemah. He preceded her in death in 1988.

She was a homemaker, and lived in Okfuskee County for most of her life.

Mrs. Duncan was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha Scott; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Dickie Wayne and Paulette Duncan, Okemah; Gerald Blaine "Spud" and Barbara Duncan, Okemah; a daughter and son-in-law, Dortha Jane and Gene Wilbourn, Okemah; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah with the Rev. Lawrence Matlock officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Inez Barnett Miller

Inez Barnett Miller of McLoud died Saturday. She was 97.

She was born May 16, 1902, northeast of McLoud, Indian Territory. She was the daughter of Jess and May Barnett.

Miller attended the Kickapoo School and graduated from McLoud High School. She owned and operated the Double Action Cafe.

She married Al. E. Miller and he preceded her in death in 1990. Miller was a member of the First Methodist Church of McLoud, W.M.U. and a Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, W.O. "Barney" Barnett.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Freda and Charles Huddleston, Moore; grandson, Howard Huddleston, Moore; sister-in-law, Ola Barnett, McLoud, niece, Delores Dolph, Edmond.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at McLoud First United Methodist Church. Burial was in Dale Cemetery, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, Shawnee.

Russell W. Oliver

Shawnee resident Russell W. "Sarge" Oliver died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 85.

Oliver was born May 27, 1914, in Casey, Ky., to Harrison L. Oliver and Willie M. Oliver. He attended school in Tennessee and married Rosa E. Harris on Sept. 9, 1941, in Fort Smith, Ark.

He worked as a security guard at the Shawnee Sylvania plant and for the Thycol plant. He also worked in the housekeeping departments at Deaconness hospital in Oklahoma City and at Shawnee Regional Hospital.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a military policeman after 21 years of service. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and had lived in Shawnee about 50 years.

Survivors include his son, Russell L. Oliver, Shawnee; grandson, Russell E. Oliver, Mannsville; stepgranddaughter, Victoria Elizabeth Rankin, Mannsville; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, one brother and one sister.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Ray England

Services for Ray England, 98, Shawnee, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. He died Saturday at a local nursing home.

Other arrangements are pending and will be announced by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Olene Walden

Olene Walden of Prague died Friday in Cushing. She was 81.

She was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Booneville, Miss., to Jess and Limmie Mae (Lambert) Kiddy. She moved to Oklahoma in 1941.

She married Jack McKinney Walden on Oct. 28, 1939, in Booneville, Miss. He preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2001. Her parents, one brother, Roy Kiddy, and one sister, Helen Taylor, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Dick Grissom of Prague; Shirley Reed of Yukon; and Margaret and Delbert Walenta of Prague; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Glenda Walden, Prague; brother, Sid Kiddy, Sandford, Fla.; sisters, Eva McCombs of Fresno, Calif., and Jessie Mann, Leesburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Starland Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Hannah Marie Williams

Hannah Marie Williams of Ada died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital, 17 hours after her birth.

Surviving are her parents, Billie and Elizabeth Williams, Ada; sisters, Camilla, Clarissa and Margaret Williams, of the home; brother, Charles Williams, of the home; grandparents, Don and Gail Loula, Shawnee, and Richard and Nethalee Williams, Lamar; a great-grandmother; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be in Alfalfa, Okla., at 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Fannie Mae Smith

Fannie Mae Smith, 90, Shawnee, died Thursday at a local hospital.

She was born March 31, 1912, near Macomb, the daughter of William and Emma (Copeland) Conatser.

She lived most of her life in and around Shawnee and was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

She married Rex A. Smith on March 4, 1933, in Chandler. He preceded her in death in 1997, two months before their 64th wedding anniversary.

Also preceding her in death were her parents.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Rex and Mary Kay Smith of Moorehead, Minn., Danny Lee and Sue Smith of Bethany and Gary Dean and Shirley Smith, Coweta; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Kris Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

James A. Stone

James A. Stone, 57, Oklahoma City, died Thursday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Nov. 26, 1944, in Tecumseh to Albert Russell "Bob" Stone and Lula (Freeman) Stone. He grew up and attended school in Earlsboro and Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School. He later graduated from Okmulgee Tech.

He was a printer and had worked for Rocket Color Document Center of Oklahoma City.

He married Elaine Diver on Oct. 4, 1970, in Burlingame, Kan. For four years he served in the National Guard unit of the 45th Infantry Division based in Shawnee.

He won several golf tournaments in Shawnee and Seminole.

His parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are his daughter, Sarah Elaine Stone, Kansas City, Mo.; son, Bob Stone, Oklahoma City; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Stone and Stephanie Stone, Tecumseh; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Gillaspy, Holdenville; Betty and Virgil Young, Oklahoma City; Bobbie and Grady Snider of Shawnee; Barbara and Weldon Cantrell, Shawnee; Billie Steele, Shawnee; and an aunt, Loretta Rowe, Shawnee.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Connell officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee.

Ramon R. McDonald

Tecumseh resident Ramon R. McDonald, 50, died Thursday in Shawnee.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of the home; son J.R. McDonald of Waco, Texas; daughter, Alicia Cardwell of Ft. Worth, Texas; three grandchildren; a sister, Veda Marie Cook of California; half-brother, Loyel J. McDonald of Arkansas; and half-sister, Ramona J. King of Arkansas.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Forrest Hill Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
