Willie Gertrude Deaton

Willie Gertrude Deaton died Monday. She was 91.

She was born July 5, 1908, in Arkansas to Sam Stout and Barbara (Clay) Stout. She married Floyd Deaton on Sept. 3, 1960, in Harrah.

She attended the Welty Church of God and worked with her husband at Deaton's Grocery and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, J.E. and Betty Norman, Paden; daughter-in-law, Tina Sullivan, Harrah; two brothers, Nellos Stout, Midwest City; J.B. Stout, Vidalia, La.; sister, Roxie Nolan, Maryland; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Deaton, in 1993; son, Arthur L. Norman; grandson, Dean Norman; three brothers and three sisters.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah. Burial will be at Welty Cemetery.

Cecil R. Kerrens Jr.

Cecil R. Kerrens Jr. died Monday. He was 78.

He was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Oklahoma City, the son of Cecil R. Kerrens and Emma Johanna Baier.

He graduated from Wellston High School in 1941. He entered the Air Force in 1942 and began his military service in the Field Artillery at Fort Sill, Lawton.

He was later assigned as an instructor to the Air Force Mobile Training Unit and was honorably discharged in 1945. He married Marie Sims on Nov. 3, 1945. They lived in Wyoming and Oklahoma during their 55 years of marriage.

They operated a dairy northeast of Wellston in the early '60s and purchased their home in town in 1968. He was a B-52 inspector at Tinker Air Force Base and retired in 1985 after 25 years of civil service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, John Sims of Rock Springs, Wyo.; uncles Adolf and Julius Baier of Fallis and Wellston; and an aunt, Louise Baier Evans of Chandler.

Survivors include his wife, Marie, and their daughter, Sharon Marie; grandson, Paul Allen Steele and wife Cindy; great-grandson, Austin Michael Steele; and great-granddaughter, Heather Mitchell.

Viewing will be until noon Wednesday at the Parks Brothers Chapel in Wellston.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Wellston with Rev. Jim Moody officiating. Burial will follow at the Wellston Cemetery under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Jack. G. Hayes

Shawnee resident Jack G. Hayes died Saturday in a local hospital. He was 59.

Hayes was born Aug. 24, 1940, north of Shawnee, to Terrel and Maxine Hayes.

He attended school in Hagar and graduated from Dale High School.

He married Norene Jones on Oct. 31, 1964, in Shawnee.

Hayes worked as a farmer, dairyman and rancher most of his life. He worked for the Shawnee Conservation District from 1975-1978.

He served as a county commissioner from 1983-1987, and was the district one county commissioner of road maintenance since 1992.

Hayes served with the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Aydelotte Baptist Church, and had lived in the Shawnee area most of his life.

He was on the Federal Land Bank Association Board from 1965-1987, the Farm Credit Center in Wichita, Kan. from 1987-1994, and the Shawnee Conservation District Board for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Terrel Hayes; two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife Norene Hayes Shawnee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Becky Hayes, Shawnee, and David and Kimberly Hayes, Shawnee; a daughter and son-in-law, Cassandra and Craig Burnett, Shawnee; his mother, Maxine Arms, Shawnee; a brother, Tommy Hayes, Shawnee; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Elmer Terrell, Shawnee, Roselyn and Bill Hynson, Orlando, Fla., and LaDawn and Gene Cathy, Konawa; three grandchildren, Daniell, Shelby and Seth Hayes, all of Shawnee; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Aydelotte Baptist Church building fund.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Jones, pastor of Cameron Baptist Church in Lawton, officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Carl Wesley Marshall

Carl Wesley Marshall of Konawa died Thursday in a Seminole hospital. He was 78.

He was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Huntington, Texas. He was the son of William Oscar and Catherine (Fuller) Marshall.

He married Edna Julia Lang on April 29, 1935, in Hemet, Calif.

Marshall was a logger in Oregon. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Konawa.

He moved to Seminole County in 1990 from Oregon.

Survivors include his wife Edna J. Marshall of the home; two daughters, Lynn Williams of Konawa and Bonnie Spencer of Nicaragua; two sons, Charles W. Marshall of Dallas, Texas, and H. Winston Marshall of Wilsonville, Ore.; two brothers, Jim Marshall and Ken Marshall, both of Hemet, Calif.; two sisters, Neva Fenwich of Madera, Calif., and Betty Harris of Riverside, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Dora Cemetery, northeast of Konawa, with the Rev. James Williams, the Rev. Jeff Williams, the Rev. Jason Williams and the Rev. Josh Williams officiating. Services are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home of Maud.

Donna Gail Storie

Donna Gail Storie of Shawnee died Thursday at her home. She was 50.

She was born May 9, 1950, in Russellville, Ark., the daughter of Rayburn and Bertha Juanita (Bond) Bowden.

She was co-owner of the American Stone Co. She married Doug Storie on Sept. 14, 1968.

She was a resident of Shawnee for 29 years, moving here from Pottsville, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include husband Doug Storie of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Shane and Zona Storie, Shawnee, and Brent and Christie Storie, Shawnee; three grandchildren, Haley Storie, Bailey Storie and Zane Storie; six brothers, Freddy Bowden, Tommy Bowden, Eddie Bowden, Rex Bowden, Joe Bowden and Randy Bowden; and five sisters, Ann, Sandra, Karen, Deborah and Julia.

Services will be today at Hoskins Cemetery, Pottsville, Ark., under the direction of Lemley Funeral Home, Atkins, Ark.

Erica Kay Helm

Erica Kay Helm was born and died Friday in Shawnee. Erica was the daughter of Eric Helm and Sandra Kay Douglas, both of Chandler.

Survivors include her parents; grandparents, Eddie Helm, Cheryl Sue Helm, Bill Douglas and step-grandmother, Betty Douglas, all of Chandler; and other relatives.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Travis Edward Blocker

Travis Edward Blocker of Shawnee died Thursday at a local nursing home. He was 70.

He was born Aug. 19, 1929, in Shawnee. He was the son of W.J. "Bill" and Ovie (Gunter) Blocker.

Blocker attended public school in California and Texas. He was a retired brick mason and was self-employed for 45 years. Blocker had lived in Shawnee most of his life. He had previously lived in the Blanchard, Dible and Purcell area.

He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Dale Blocker; daughter, Robin Gayle Blocker; his parents, W.J. and Ovie Blocker; two brothers, George Blocker and Garland Blocker; and one sister, Doris Ann Blocker.

Survivors include five daughters, Renda Gayl Blocker of Texas, Terry Blocker of Texas and Jeanie Blocker, Samantha Jane Blocker, and Roseanna Blocker, all of Shawnee; four sons, Tony Jefferson Blocker, Toby Willie Blocker, Jesse James Blocker and Traves Lester Blocker, all of Shawnee; two brothers, T.L. Blocker of Shawnee and Elmer Blocker of Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Higgins officiating. Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel of Shawnee.

Herbert J. Alford

Herbert J. Alford, Sr. of Shawnee died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 86.

He was born March 1, 1914, in Econtuchka. He was the son of Casper Edwin and Nora (Wilson) Alford.

Alford was a truck driver. He served with the U.S. Army and earned a World War II Victory Medal and an American Theater Ribbon.

Alford was a member of the American Legion. He had lived in Shawnee most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Casper and Nora Alford; two sisters; and a half brother.

Survivors include one son, Herbert Alford, Jr., Oklahoma City; and three sisters, Bertha Little, Shawnee, Amy Davis, Oklahoma City, and Irene Fair, Shawnee.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Johnson Cemetery with the Rev. Ellis Rolette officiating. Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Albert Fitzgerald

Albert "Al" Fitzgerald of Seminole died Friday in a Seminole hospital. He was 80.

He was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Sardis, Okla., the son of Allen Shirn Shirn and Gertrude Markham Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald owned and operated Al's Radiator Shop in Seminole from 1958-1990. He married Gladys Wood on Jan. 9, 1939, in Nowata.

He served with the U.S. Army, serving in World War II with the 32nd Infantry, 7th division during the Southern Philippines Liberation. He received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and two Bronze Stars. While serving in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign he received, a World War II Victory Medal, two additional Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seminole.

Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Belle Shaver and Allia Mae Dehart.

Survivors include his wife Gladys Fitzgerald of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Jan Fitzgerald of Ada; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Fred Knoles of Seminole; brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Billie Fitzgerald of Choctaw; seven grandchildren, Mike and Lisa Fitzgerald, Bonnie, Rebecca and Candace Higdon, and Andrew and Garey Knoles; a great-grandson; and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Falls Creek building fund of the First Baptist Church in Seminole.

Viewing will be held until noon Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Seminole with Dr. Kelvin Moseley officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Odessa Vesta Hanna

Odessa Vesta Hanna died Saturday in Chandler. She was 97.

She was born Aug. 12, 1902, in Lincreek, Mo., the daughter of the Rev. Mason and Elizabeth Ann (Trawl) Conner.

She married Millard J. Hanna in 1922 in Okmulgee. They lived in the Davenport area for many years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hanna was a member of the First Christian Church of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Curtis Hanna; parents; six brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Chester Hanna, Chandler, Louis Hanna, Oklahoma City, and Ray Gene Hanna, Jones; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church of Davenport with the Rev. Larry Stribling officiating. Burial will be in Davenport Cemetery, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler.
