Sean Maurice Codopony

Sean Maurice Codopony was born and died Thursday.

Sean was the infant son of Richard and Anita Codopony of Apache.

Survivors include his parents, Richard and Anita Codopony Jr., Apache; sister, Mariah Ella Codopony, of the home; brother, Damian Thomas Codopony, of the home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Codopony Sr., Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. and Mrs. Jimmie Steele, Shawnee; great-grandmothers, Ruth King, Clarksville, Ariz.; and Bonnie Steele, Shawnee.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Cache Creek Indian Cemetery, Apache, with the Rev. Janine Dekker officiating.

Cleo B. Lewis

Cleo B. Lewis of Shawnee died Friday at local hospital. She was 87.

She was born Aug. 8, 1911, in Parker County, Texas to Clifford H. Daniel and Mary Ann (DeBusk) Daniel.

She attended school in Millsap and Weatherford, Texas, and later went on to earn a teaching certificate in Texas.

She worked many years as a sales clerk at Moody's Department Store of Shawnee. She later worked with The Vogue Dress Shop for about five years.

She married Lyle Lavert (L.L.) Lewis on Jan. 8, 1933, in Millsap, Texas. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and has lived in Shawnee for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Teddy Lavert Lewis, two sisters, and one grandchild.

Surviving are her husband, L.L. Lewis;, a son and daughter in law, Farrell and Mary Lynn Lewis of Oklahoma City; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Vernon Markwell of Meeker; a daughter, Bonnie Stringer of Shawnee; three sisters, Esta Lea Ashley of Fort Worth, Texas; Para Lea Moore of Fort Worth; Modene Thomas of Midland, Texas; grandchildren and spouses, Randy and Lynda Markwell, Randy and Debbie Flowers, Mark and Lisa Armitage, Jay and Stephanie Stringer, Stephen and Britt Lewis, Dr. Jeffrey Lewis, and Thomas and Carlsie Reyenga, Jr.; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ at 10th and Shawnee Streets with Elders Vernon Markwell and Harold Gibson officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Wyman Riley Marshall

Wyman Riley Marshall of Duncan died Saturday. He was 75.

He was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Shawnee to Bryan Lower and Martha Elizabeth (Martin) Marshall.

He worked for Halliburton Co. for 35 years, working in the warehouse department, and retiring in 1985. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church, and was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.

He married Emma Jean Stewart on April 14, 1945, at Opelika, Ala. She preceded in him death on April 5, 1991, in Duncan.

Surviving are two sons, Steve Marshall of Edmond, and Stan Marshall of Ardmore; one brother, Dr. Jerry Marshall of Edmond; four sisters, Reba Roush of Duncan; Helen Beck of Overland Park, Kan.; Betty Mashburn of Denver, Colo.; and Dorothy Sands of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Bryan Marshall, Matt Marshall, Amber Graham, Stephanie Marshall, Riley Marshall.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan, Okla. with the Rev. Ralph Slate officiating.

Memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Church, 1725 Chisholm Dr., Duncan, Okla. 73533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel.

Rosa Marie Cochran

Rosa Marie Cochran died Saturday in Stroud. She was 91.

She was born April 21, 1908, in Cushing and was the daughter of Charles and Mary (Boyd) Spurgeon. She was a resident of the Kendrick area all her life, and was a member of the Kendrick Christian Church.

She married William B. Cochran on Sept. 29, 1928, in Chandler, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1969. Her parents, and one daughter also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Vesta Youell of Bartlesville, Okla; Thomas (Billy) and Lottie Cochran of Rogers, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Earl Blakley of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Charles Spurgeon of Ponca City, Okla.; Warren Spurgeon of Agra, Okla.; a sister, Leta Potter of Kendrick, Okla.; eight grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Stroud with the Rev. Johnny Youell officiating. Burial will follow at the Kendrick Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Stroud.

Lloyd E. Wallgren

Longtime Norman resident Lloyd E. Wallgren died Friday in Norman. He was 77.

Wallgren was born March 13, 1923, in Asher to Frank Albert and Agnes Lela (Harper) Wallgren. He attended school at Moore, Pleasant Valley and Maud.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Jessie Lou Wallgren, Macomb; sister, Eugenia Lamb, Tulsa; nine nieces and nephews, including Martena Trammell, Macomb; Ronda Westfall, Claremore; Monty Dale Wallgren, Tecumseh; and Bobby Welch, Houston, Texas; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Geneva Youker, on Aug. 17, 1976.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Home with Pat Kirby of Pentecostal Lighthouse of Shawnee, officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

L.L. "Shorty" Gouker

L.L. "Shorty" Gouker died Sunday in Vinita. He was 84.

He was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Meeker. He was the son of Ernest Samuel and Cora (Roller) Gouker.

He was a resident of Adair and he lived most of his life in the Meeker area. He was a member of the Family of Faith Fellowship and was a retired heavy equipment operator and dirt construction foreman.

Gouker married Lousetta Mae DeMoney on Dec. 1, 1939, in Okemah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one daughter, Mary Louise Woody.

Survivors include his wife Lousetta Gouker of the home, Adair; one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Dennis DeLozier, Adair; one brother, Harold Gouker, Meeker; two sisters, Corine Gouker, Chandler; Alene Grubaugh, Meeker; two grandsons, Darren DeLozier, Adair; Devin DeLozier, Adair.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at the Family of Faith Fellowship, south of Meeker. Dr. Sam Matthews will officiate.

Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Viewing and visitation will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker until noon today. The casket will be closed during the services.

Opal Marie Sullins Rusche

Opal Marie Sullins Rusche of Shawnee died Monday at a local hospital. She was 86.

She was born Oct. 22, 1913, east of Shawnee. She attended Bethel Acres schools.

She was a homemaker.

She married Charles Clifford Sullins, who preceded her in death.

She later married Pete Rusche on Dec. 23, 1980. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include husband Pete Rusche of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Ken Larson, Oklahoma City; granddaughter and her husband, Shelly and Shane Heinrichs, Baton Rouge, La.; great-granddaughter, Annie Marie Heinrichs, Baton Rouge, La.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Buck and Dorothy Weddle, Shawnee; sister-in-law, Opal Sullivan, Shawnee, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kay Smith officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Kathleen Ownby

Oklahoma City resident Kathleen Ownby died Saturday in Oklahoma City. She was 78.

Mrs. Ownby was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Konawa to Rachel (Merrell) and Larkin Scroggin.

She married Wayne Ownby in Shawnee in 1960.

She grew up in the Konawa area and was a pharmacy worker.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Janice and Joe Newcomb, Seminole, and Dolores Esquivlas, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Gaylon Scroggin, Oklahoma City, and Wayne Scroggin, Edmond; two sisters, Betty Gregory, Shawnee, and Bobbie Green, Jay; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1967.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitch Williams officiating.

Leslie F. Howard

Leslie F. Howard of Shawnee died Monday at a local nursing center. He was 79.

He was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Gowen, Okla. He was the son of Edgar David Howard and Minnie (Dildy) Howard.

He worked for Tinker Air Force Base retiring in 1972. Howard married Beatrice Jones in 1946 and she died in 1991.

He then married Joyce Royal on Dec. 23, 1995. He served in the United States Army 90th Infantry Division serving in the invasion of Normandy; he also received the Purple Heart.

Howard was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Beatrice Howard, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Howard of the home; one son, Sam Howard of Shawnee; one grandson, Chris Howard of Shawnee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Weslie and Marie Howard of Shawnee and Ed and Doris Howard of Del City; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Iva Fay Smith

Iva Fay Smith died Saturday at a Shawnee nursing home. She was 74.

Mrs. Smith was born May 31, 1926, in Shawnee to Charles James Smith and Edith Daisy (Elliott) Smith. She attended school in Bartlesville.

She was a cook and worked about five years with the Bama Pie Company. She also worked for Kaiser's Ice Cream in Oklahoma City and at Golden Rule Nursing Home, where she was a private duty nurse and cook.

She was a longtime member of Gordon Cooper Church of God.

Survivors include six nephews and their spouses, David Smith, Merrill and Bula Smith and Chuck and Kathy Smith, all of Shawnee, Wesley and Karlene Weir and Ronnie Weir, all of Bristow, and Donnie and Esther Weir, Guthrie; seven nieces and their spouses, Ruby Smith and Betty and James Nicholson, all of Shawnee, Linda and Clyde Parsons, Anna and Charles Jantz and Terri and John Madden, all of Bristow, Sharon and Sam Sorrell, Bartlett, Kan., and Shirley and Merle Porter, Guthrie; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Ida Mae (Weir) Bocock; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles R. and Betty J. Smith; and two nephews, Derrill Smith and Charles Melton Smith.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at the Church of God Chapel, 1415 Gordon Cooper Drive, with Merrill Smith and Anna Jantz officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
