Tunky Jason Stevens

Tunky Jason Stevens, 28, of Choctaw died Monday in Woodward.

Survivors include his parents, J.B. and Belinda Saul of Choctaw and Lester and Rama Stevens of Keller, Texas; his fiancé, Sheila Riddle of Moore; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Sgt. Jimmy and Cindy Stevens of Devol, Texas, and Rob and Erma Stevens of Lubbock, Texas; a brother, Jake Saul of Choctaw; and his grandmothers, Vera Fair and Marguerite Stevens, both of Lubbock.

A service will be 2 p.m. today at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the Blanchard Cemetery.

Marie D. Dedmon

Marie D. Dedmon, 94, of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local nursing home.

Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

D.O. Passons

D.O. Passons, 77, of Tecumseh died Monday at a local hospital.

He was born Jan. 15, 1925, in Fedora, S.C., to Bill and Bertha (Bratcher) Passons. He attended school in Macomb and the University of Oklahoma for a short time.

Passons worked for the Oklahoma Seismograph and Geophysical Company in Shawnee and also worked as a surveyor in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi for 10 years.

In 1956, he went to work at Tinker Air Force Base as an electro-mechanical computer technician. He was employed there until 1974 when he was transferred to McCellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif., where he worked until his retirement in 1984.

He married Georgia M. Martin on April 9, 1950, in Shawnee.

He served during World War II as a member of the Army Air Force and was stationed in the Western Pacific Theater, on the island of Saipan. He was a signet and turret mechanic for B29's 873rd Bombardment Squadron. His decorations and citations earned were Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and American Theater Medal.

He was a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society and had perfect attendance for four years of high school. He was president of his freshman class and was a member of the American Legion Post at Tecumseh. He was also a member of the Central Church of Christ, where he served as a song leader and Bible school teacher.

Passons was the holder of two American Legion school awards. In 1938, he tied for first place in seventh-grade history in Pottawatomie County. He was salutatorian of his eighth-grade graduating class and valedictorian of his high school class. He was active in sports, lettering three years in basketball and four years in baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one daughter, Leslie Kay Passons.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Passons of the home; one daughter, Diane Moore of Oklahoma City; one sister, Thelma Franklin of Tecumseh; two sisters-in-law, Stella Martin of Tecumseh and Ruth Neal of Tecumseh; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue and Bill Rodgers of Oklahoma City and Mary and Tom Scott of Macomb; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Dwyane Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens.

Margaret Elizabeth Lazenby

Margaret Elizabeth (Terrell) Lazenby, 86, of Shawnee died Monday at her home.

She was born Feb. 28, 1916, in Franklin, N.C., to William Thomas and Lena (Chambers) Terrell.

She married James W. Lazenby Jan. 1, 1946, in California and was a homemaker.

Lazenby has been a member of the Central Presbyterian Church since 1951, where she served as church librarian. The library was named in her honor. She also taught Sunday school and served as the clerk of session.

She joined the Eastern Star in 1968, Murrow Chapter 464. She served as worthy matron in 1971 with James Lazenby as worthy patron. Of the many stations in which she served, her favorite was Ruth. She also served on several Oklahoma Grand Chapter Committees. She became a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 271 in 1969. She served in several offices and was noble grand twice. She also received a high state honor, the Decoration of Chivalry.

Lazenby served as a hospital volunteer for 25 years, logging almost 14,000 hours. She was Volunteer of the Year at Shawnee Regional Hospital in 1986.

She served in civil service from 1942-1945 as an aviation metalsmith at the U.S. naval station in San Diego, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, James, Clifton, Wayne and Henry Terrell; and one sister, Louise Terrell.

She is survived by her husband, James, of the home; one sister and brother-in-law Martha T. and Stanley Masters of Ashville, N.C.; one brother-in-law, Conrad Maney; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Max Shumake and the Rev. Bob Scrutchins officiating.

Adron K. Holland

Adron K. Holland, 73, Prague, died Wednesday at home.

Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Avis Tinsley

Avis Tinsley, 90, Shawnee, died Wednesday at a local nursing home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Gordon Cooper Church of God with the Rev. Veda McMillian officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Naomi Bryan

Longtime Seminole resident Naomi Bryan died Tuesday at a Seminole nursing home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Strothers Chapel at Maple Grove Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Richard James Forrest

Richard James Forrest of Shawnee died Tuesday.

Services are pending with Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Leroy Davis

Leroy Davis, 82, of Oklahoma City died Tuesday.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Jessie Wood

Services for Jessie Wood, 82, Shawnee, are 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Wood died Tuesday at Unity Health Center, South Campus. Other service information is pending with Resthaven Funeral Home.

Jerry T. Curtis

Jerry T. Curtis, 64, of Wewoka died Tuesday in Shawnee.

Survivors include his wife Lorelei Curtis of the home; one son, Richard Adams of San Jacinto, Colo.; two daughters, LeElen Adams of Fontgana, Calif., and Evelyn Salinas of Derby, Kan.; his parents, Moses T. and Florene Curtis of Wewoka; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Ben Curtis of Wewoka, James Curtis of Elk Grove, Calif., and Anthony Curtis of Santa Clarita, Calif.; and one sister Dona Maye Sharp of Moreno Valley, Calif.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Olgia Fawcett

Prague resident Olgia Fawcett, 81, died Wednesday in Prague.

She was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Prague to Floyd and Rutha (Denny) Page. She lived in the Prague area all of her life and was a member of the Pleasant Home Baptist Church.

Fawcett worked as a circuit repairwoman for Sylvania, AT&T and Lucent Technologies.

She married, Warren V. Fawcett Oct. 4, 1939.

Fawcett was preceded in death by her son, Warren E. Fawcett on Dec. 22, 1999, her husband and parents.

Survivors include a son, C. Wayne Fawcett of Oklahoma City; a daughter-in-law, Imogene Fawcett of Prague; a sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Marvin Good; sister-in-law, Loydale Page, all of Prague; four grandchildren and spouses, Chuck and Jackie Fawcett, Roger and Sheila Fawcett, Justin and Angelene Fawcett and Justine and Jorge Rodriguez; seven great-grandchildren, seven stepgreat-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel of Prague with the Rev. Cameron Whiley officiating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery.

John Van Hook

John Van Hook, 84, of McLoud died Wednesday in a local hospital. Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Joe Ray Barnett

Joe Ray Barnett of Stidham died Monday at a Seminole hospital. He was 51.

He was born Dec. 1, 1948, in Oak Grove. He was the son of Hammer Barnett and Jeannetta (Moore) Barnett.

Barnett, who served in the U.S. Army, was a nursing assistant.

He was a member of the Little Coweta Baptist Church in Stidham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lena Primeaux and one brother, Samuel Beaver.

Survivors include nine daughters, Shannyn Barnett-Lincoln of Maud; Suzanne Barnett-Kelough of Seminole; Summer Barnett-Lovett of Seminole; Shaleah Barnett of Maud; Carly Hitcher and Leah Hitcher both of Stillwell; Misha Downing of Claremore; Melissa Downing of Claremore; Chelsea Jo Feather Paxton-Long of California; one son, Geoffrey Hitcher of Stillwell; one brother, Emmanuel Barnett of Muskogee; companion, Doris Ronaniiorse of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Shannon Lincoln, Savannah Lincoln, Harley Loveit, Michael Kelough II, Sierra Kelough, Zachary Kelough and Sydney Hitcher; several nieces, nephews and other family.

A wake will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alford Berryhill officiating.

Burial will be at Tiger Family Cemetery.

Sarah Marie Davis

Sarah Marie Davis of Shawnee died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 14.

She was born Nov. 29, 1985, in Walsenberg, Colo. She was the daughter of Glenn Davis and Judith (Lee) Davis.

She was in the eighth grade at Shawnee Middle School. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Judah Youth Group and, for the past three years, had been in drama class at Shawnee Middle School.

She also knew sign language.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Wilda Maden of Shawnee; grandfather Alfred Lee of Wichita, Kan., and grandfather, Fred Davis of Trinidad, Colo.

Survivors include her mother, Judith Davis of Shawnee; father, Glenn Davis of Trinidad, Colo.; brother, Glenn Thomas Davis, serving in the Navy; two sisters, Rebekah Davis and Deborah Davis, Trinidad, Colo.; grandmother, Dorothy Davis, Trinidad, Colo.; grandfather, Robert Maden and his wife, Juanita, Shawnee; numerous aunts, uncles and other family members.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Memorials may take the form of Bibles donated to teens.

Robert Jackson

Robert "Wayne" Jackson of Shawnee died Tuesday. He was 72.

He was born Nov. 19, 1927, in Rossville. He was the son of Wade and Hattie (Smith) Jackson.

Jackson worked for 34 years at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring in 1981. He married Ada Faye James Oct. 29, 1948, in Wellston.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. He was a member of the VFW Post 1317.

He grew up around Chandler and had lived in Shawnee since 1952.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a daughter, Donna Kathryn in 1951.

Survivors include wife of 51 years, Ada Faye of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Richard Carlson, Tecumseh; Lori and Michael Freeman, Shawnee; two granddaughters, Erika and Crystal Carlson, Tecumseh; one sister, Louise Honeycutt, Shawnee; one brother-in-law, Cortlin Horton, Prague; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler.
