Charles Esque Booker

Charles Esque Booker, 52, Stillwater, died Tuesday in Stillwater.

He was born Feb. 7, 1949, in Chandler, the son of Herman and Ann Lee (Caldwell) Booker. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Preceding him in death were his father and brother.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Ann Lee and James Heath of Edmond; three daughters, Mia Dee Jones and Mickey M. Jones, both of Oklahoma City, and Charlene Willis of Stillwater; three sisters, Christal Grabeal of Oklahoma City and Donna Health and Rosaland Ross, both of Kansas City, Mo., as well as many other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Memorial Auditorium in Chandler. The Rev. William Myles will officiate and burial will follow at Sweet Home Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Ruth Lane

Ruth Lane of Maud died Tuesday in Ada. She was 88.

She was born March 27, 1912, in Dennis, Kan., to Ervin and Lydia (Johnson) Fisher. In 1932, she married Leo Lane in Fort Smith, Ark.; he preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1974.

An Oklahoma resident since 1920, Mrs. Lane moved to Konawa in 1934, Shawnee in 1994 and recently had moved to Maud.

She was a homemaker and member of the Northwest Missionary Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Irene Dobbs; a brother, Bud Fisher; and great-great-grandchild, Jared Taylor.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jimmie and Coy Long, Tecumseh; her son and daughter-in-law, Leo and Pat Lane, Konawa; a sister, Helen Laxton, Armona, Calif.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Rufus Nappa

Former Shawnee area resident Rufus Nappa of Del City died Tuesday at a Del City nursing home. He was 69.

He was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Rasel Metyn, Lebanon. He was the son of Hallene "Mike" Nappa and Hind Nappa.

Nappa lived his childhood years in Jellico, Tenn. Other than his military service, he spent most of his adult life in the Shawnee area.

He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1956 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. He earned a master's degree from Central State University in 1976.

He was married to Zahea Hassen in 1955. They were later divorced.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean conflict in Okinawa, France and Panama. He served a 40-year career as a Civil Service accountant. His primary assignment was at Tinker Air Force Base but he also served in France and Panama.

He remained involved with Oklahoma Baptist University activities throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Anne Nappa, Dallas, Texas; Mary Nappa, Del City; Jannett and Ron Stinnett, Del City; one son, Michael Nappa, Colorado; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Joe Nappa, Shawnee, and Mike and Patsy Nappa, Plano, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jim Strickland, Tyler, Texas; eight grandsons and three granddaughters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family has designated Good Shepherd Hospice of Del City and Hospice of Shawnee as appropriate for memorials.

Gloria J. Decker

Gloria J. Decker of Nicoma Park died Monday at a Midwest City hospital. She was 70.

She was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Saint Louis, to Clarence A. Richard and Bessie Lucille (Long) Richard.

She was a homemaker and retail food clerk for more than 30 years at Greenhaws, Safeway and Homeland.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Long Richard, on June 21, 1985; father, Clarence A. Richard, on Oct. 31, 1986; and brother, David Richard, on March 13, 2001.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Terrell Gene Decker of Nicoma Park; Kenneth Allen and Christie Marie Decker of Harrah; one grandson, Jake Decker of Harrah; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and J.E. Cravey of Midwest City; Betty and Ray O'Daniel of Maud; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence Richard Jr. and Pat Richard of Red River, N.M., and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Oak Grove Cemetery, Pearson, with the Rev. Paul Nix officiating.

Services are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home of Maud.

Alice Ketcheshawno Gibbs

Alice Ketcheshawno Gibbs of Meeker died Saturday at a Meeker nursing home. She was 88.

Mrs. Gibbs, born June 2, 1912, in the Shawnee area, was a homemaker and member of the Sac and Fox tribe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Ketcheshawno; two daughters, Ameila Bearbow and Shirley Chakenotha; three sons, an infant, Willie Ketcheshawno, Robert Ketcheshawno and Willie Ketcheshawno.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Adeline and Larry DuBoise, Tecumseh; six grandchildren, Paul Rosser, Ada; John Rosser, Earlsboro; Alice Bliss, Oklahoma City; Larry DuBoise, South Rock Creek; Deborah Satawake, Earlsboro; and Lillian Nanaeto, Meeker, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Tribal rites were held Monday evening. Graveside services were Tuesday morning at Wakolee Cemetery.

Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Beulah Pauline (Starling) Tyler

Beulah Pauline (Starling) Tyler, 76, Chandler, died Monday in Norman at the age of 76.

She was born June 21, 1924, in Pocahontas, Ark., to Noah Corman and Della Estella (Sadler) Hackworth.

She was a nurse aide for many years and attended the Chandler Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Roma Starling and Voll Tyler; and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Lee Starling of Moore; Tony Merle Starling of Agra; two daughters, Nelba Fay Harris of Norman; Donita Sue Huff of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Hanford Hackworth of Carney; Donald Hackworth of Chandler; two sisters, Lena Gullick of Stillwater; Ina Boling of Mount Ida, Ark.; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God Church in Chandler with the Rev. Doyle Seeley officiating. Burial will follow at the Carney Cemetery.

Services are directed by Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Chandler.

Beryle W. Cooper

Beryle W. Cooper of Choctaw died Friday. She was 73.

She was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Spokane, Wash., to Charles and Irene (Ericson) Lakin. She was a longtime resident of Oklahoma, having lived in Shawnee and Del City.

She retired from Civil Service, having worked at Tinker Air Force Base.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles E. and Marianne Cooper of Plano, Texas, and Steven P. and Cindy Cooper of Choctaw; four grandchildren, Tara D. James of Jones and Kevin D. Cooper of Dallas, Texas; Katelynn Anne and Stephanie and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Dawn and Haley Jordon.

Services were held Tuesday at the Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel.

Elmer A. Ericson

Elmer A. Ericson of Tecumseh died Friday in Oklahoma City. He was 78.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Robert Ericson officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Other information is pending.

Bettye Louise (Poe) Silas McBride

Bettye Louise (Poe) Silas McBride of Shawnee died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 62.

She was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Shawnee to Fred Poe and Rubye (Hammon) Poe. She was a 1957 graduate of Shawnee High School. She married Roy Silas in 1963, then married Merrill McBride in 1974.

She was a homemaker and worked at the Aldridge Hotel as an accountant.

She was a member of the First Church of God and lived in Shawnee all of her life.

Preceding her in death were her father, two sisters, Mary Alice Robinson and Clarice Holt; and one brother, Freddy Lynn Poe.

Surviving are her husband, Merrill McBride of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Denise (Silas) Lackey of Bethel; Marilyn and Daryl Newton of Shawnee; Marlene and Jim Jones of Oklahoma City; one son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Terrie McBride of Shawnee; her mother, Rubye Poe of Shawnee; sister Patsy Hybarger of Tecumseh; eight grandchildren, Jacob Lackey, Ashley Newton, Conner Newton, Shelbye Newton, Cindy Evans, Chris McBride, Tara Boyd, and Megan Boyd; as well as four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Faircloth, the Rev. Kreston Norholm and the Rev. Tom Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Frances Delores Wisniewski

Midwest City resident Frances Delores "De" Wisniewski died Friday in Midwest City. She was 70.

She was born May 14, 1929, in Holdenville to Al and Janie (Beasley) Griner Sr.

She married Andrew "Andy" Wisniewski.

She was reared in Shawnee and was a 1948 graduate of Shawnee High School. She also was a graduate of Kansas City (Kan.) Art Institute. She lived in Kansas City, Kan., while attending college and was employed by Hallmark. She lived in the Midwest City area since then.

She worked at Tinker Air Force Base as an illustrator until her retirement. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Midwest City and the Oklahoma City Watercolor Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister-in-law, Doris Griner; and brother-in-law, John Cable.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Rick Archer, Choctaw; sons and a daughter-in-law, Mel Smith, Dixon, N.M., and Charles and Sue Smith, Midwest City; stepdaughter, Barbara McEndree; stepson, Chris Wisniewski; sister, Autis Cable, Birmingham, Ala.; brothers and sister-in-law, A.L. "Al" Griner Jr., Perryton, Texas, and Dave and Kirby Griner, Shawnee; special friend, Don Singletary; five grandchildren, Crystal Archer, Dustin Archer and fiancée Robyn Hanks, Henry McDonald, Charlie and Skyler Smith; and many friends and family.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with Dale Hartman of Eastside Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

William L. Oldham

William L. "Bill" Oldham died March 4 at his home in Tecumseh, Neb. He was 78.

He was born June 5, 1921, in Shawnee to Luther and Dorothy (Leonard) Oldham. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1939 and then moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where he was employed by Roberts Markets.

In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. After his discharged from the Marine Corps, he resumed working for Roberts Markets, managing several stores before retiring. Subsequently, he established a retail business in Torrance, Calif., which he operated for a number of years before moving to Tecumseh, Neb., in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nina Dishneau.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha "Dolly"; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Jaana Oldham, Tecumseh, Neb., and Mike and Deronda Oldham, Torrance, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jack Perry, Madison, Ind.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; cousins, Wanda White, Shawnee, Gene Oldham, Prague, Coyla Bowden, Norman, Olive Rogers, Muskogee, Victor Oldham and Marguerite Alexander, Shawnee, and Raymond Oldham, Germantown, Tenn.; and aunt, Grace Stapp, Shawnee.
