Bruce W. Thompson

Shawnee resident Bruce W. Thompson died Thursday in Sewanee, Tenn. He was 42.

He was born July 6, 1957, in Kalamazoo, Mich. He was the son of Violet Lucille Thompson Hale.

He married Winona Lane Oct. 7, 1985, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

He attended Shawnee schools and served in the U.S. Army. Thompson was a cross-country truck driver for Unit Parts for more than 15 years and most recently worked for Roehl Transport Co.

Survivors include his wife, Winona Thompson of the home; sons, Billy Tibbs of the home, and Richard Tibbs, Shawnee; daughters, Angela Cox, Shawnee, and Melanie and Andrea Thompson, Shawnee; grandsons, Levi William Cox and Jordan Wayne Thompson, Shawnee; mother, Violet Hale, Texas; sisters, Karen Garoutte, Texas, and Sharon Fruit, Shawnee; and brother, Bart Thompson, Alabama.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Matthews officiating under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Velda Cora Lowry

Velda Cora Lowry of Shawnee died Thursday in a local hospital. She was 91.

Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Little Cemetery, Little, Okla.

Further information will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Madelaine R. Nuckolls

Maud resident Madelaine Nuckolls, 79, Oklahoma City, died Wednesday at an Oklahoma City hospital2

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church of Maud. Burial will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Further arrangements are pending with Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.

Georgie Marie Bluford

Georgie Marie Bluford, 76, died Wednesday in Shawnee.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis Eugene and Regina Barkley of Paden and James Ray and Sonya Barkley of Welty; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Lee and Bob Wagner of Moore; a sister, Avis Coleman of Paden; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with Bro. Paul Heard officiating. Burial will follow in the Paden Cemetery in Prague.

Carr Paul Donaldson

Carr Paul Donaldson, Seminole, died Thursday at a Seminole hospital. He was 59.

He was born Feb. 1, 1942, in Seminole.

The lifelong resident of Seminole was married to Kay Lynn Lemmings Aug. 11, 1971, in Seminole.

He was a rural route newspaper carrier for the Seminole Producer for the past 16 years.

Donaldson was a member of Church of Christ in Little.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Jason Donaldson of Dallas, and several other family members.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. today at the Church of Christ in Little. Rusty Dawson will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Della J. Russell

Della J. Russell, Harrah, died Friday at the age of 98.

Born Nov. 23, 1902, in Asher, she was the daughter of Dave and Julia (Snow) Schrader.

She moved in 1953 to Harrah and attended the First Baptist Church of Newalla.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Bruce Russell; her son, H.D. Russell; and a daughter, Lee Nell Weaver.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet and Billy Baber and Julia Norrell, all of Harrah; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel in Harrah. Burial will be at Hobart (Okla.) Rose Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Bonnie E. (Fry) Hathcock

Bonnie E. (Fry) Hathcock died Thursday in her Shawnee home. She was 79.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Elsie Marie Schmidlkofer

Elsie Marie Schmidlkofer, Tecumseh, died Friday in a local hospital at the age of 83.

Services are pending with Resthaven Funeral Home.

Betty Jean Wahpepah

Betty Jean Wahpepah of Shawnee died Thursday at her home. She was 66.

She was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Winnebago, Neb., to George and Pearl (St. Cyr) Maney. She attended St. Paul's High School in Marty, S.D., and attended St. Gregory's College.

She worked as tax director for the Sac and Fox Nation and secretary for Indian Health Service.

She married Frank Wahpepah on Oct. 24, 1957, in Los Angeles, Calif. She was a member of the St. Benedict's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Wahpepah was a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), and a member of Kateri Tekakwitha Circle. She lived in Shawnee most of her life.

Preceding her in death were her father, mother and a sister, Mary John.

Surviving are her husband, Frank Wahpepah of the home; three daughters, Kathleen Wahpepah and Tim Eashappie of Sintaluta, Saskatchewan, Canada; Wilda Wahpepah and William C. Crum of South Bend, Ind.; Mary Wahpepah of Shawnee; one son, Joe Wahpepah and Melinda of Shawnee; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jared; one brother, George Maney Jr. of Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews.

Rosary was held Thursday evening at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Winnebago, Neb. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Melvin Leroy Arp Sr.

Melvin Leroy Arp Sr. died Wednesday in Shawnee. He was 46.

He was born Nov. 10, 1953, in Oklahoma City, the son of J.B. and Florence (Morris) Arp. He married Lucille Murphee in Choctaw on Sept. 15, 1992.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 479 of Meeker, and worked for Shawnee Mills during the past 17 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and a granddaughter.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille Arp of the home; four sons and wives, Melvin and Julie Arp of Maryland; James and Erin Arp of Hawaii; James H. Tuter of McAlester and Donald L. Arp of Moore; two daughters and husband, Lena Ann Teal of Shawnee; and Jaylene and Gaylon Standlee of Meeker; two brothers and a wife, Larry Green of Durant, and Mike and Gayle Arp of Moore; two sisters and husbands, Dona and John Kavanowska of Yukon; Pam and Scott Schaefer of Moore; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Arp may be viewed from 5 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Monday at the Parks Brothers Chapel in Meeker.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Chandler with Masonic Lodge No. 479 officiating. Burial will follow in the Gable Cemetery.

Troy L. Clonts

Troy L. Clonts died Thursday in Prague. He was 86.

He was born May 5, 1914, in Okfuskee County. He was the son of William Less and Hannah (Beck) Clonts.

He was a resident of Paden and lived in Okfuskee County most of his life. Clonts was a member of the Holiness Church.

He was self-employed as a rancher and owned and operated a service station. He married Mary Cleo Brown on Jan. 11, 1936.

She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1977. He later married Lillian (Farley) Harwood on May 2, 1978.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Wayne Clonts; one grandson, Martin Gregory Clonts; two brothers, Lester Lee Clonts and Clarence Clonts and one son-in-law, Charles Dowty.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Clonts of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Junior Earl and Carolyn Clonts, Paden; five daughters, Barbara Dowty, Paden; Susie Belford, Paden; June and Joe Nutt, Paden; Sharon and PeeWee Perry, Paden; Brenda Clonts, Paden; one stepdaughter, Annabelle Hawkins, Kellyville; one step-son, Ted Hardwood, Kellyville; one brother, Sherman Clonts, Paden; two sisters, Izetta Ford, Yuba City, Calif.; Loretta Norris, Olivehurst, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Burnett Mission Holiness Church with the Rev. Paul Heard and Rev. Aaron Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the Paden Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Charles Bonard

Charles "Charlie" Bonard of Shawnee died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 75.

He was born Sept. 28, 1924, in Sulphur. He was the son of Wayne and Beulah (O'Neal) Bonard.

Bonard attended school in Sulphur and Macomb. He left Oklahoma Seismographic Co. in 1958.

Bonard retired from the Shawnee Police Department and then worked as a security guard for American National Bank. He married Leona Helton on Sept. 4, 1948, in Shawnee.

He lived in Shawnee most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jake Bonard and two brothers-in-law.

Survivors include his wife, Leona Bonard, Shawnee; son, Larry Bonard, Shawnee; grandson, Kameron Bonard, Shawnee; two sisters-in-law, Mae Belle Pinkston, Shawnee; Marie Leeper, Las Vegas, Nev.; two nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. W.F. Crow officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Robert T. Boardman

Former Shawnee resident Robert T. Boardman, 76, died Friday.

He was born May 2, 1925, the son of Mitchell T. and Elizabeth (Baker) Boardman.

He graduated from Shawnee High School, where he was active in band.

Immediately following graduation, Boardman was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in Patton's 4th Armored Division. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart. Following the war, he went to work for Southwestern Bell where he worked as an engineer for 35 years.

On July 20, 1949, he married Marietta Williams. She preceded him in death in 1985.

In 1987, Boardman married a lifelong family friend, Wyllene Embry.

Also preceding Boardman in death were his parents; one brother, Jack W. Boardman; and one sister, Delores E. Walker.

Survivors include his wife; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Shane Martin; three stepdaughters; two stepgrandchildren, and three grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at All Souls Episcopal Church with burial in Resthaven Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Funeral Home.
