Frankie Cora Snell

Davenport resident Frankie Cora Snell, 78, died Sunday in Davenport. She was 78.

Snell was born Aug. 9, 1922, in London, Ky., the daughter of Wiley and Bama Hensley.

On Feb. 11, 1943, she married Walter Robert Snell in Newvern, N.C.

Mrs. Snell was a homemaker, and was a member of the First Christian Church, Stroud.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Susan Snell of Stroud; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Mike McGuigan of Simi Valley, Calif.; sisters, Alma Gump of Hartwell, Ohio, Nancy Brockman of Springdale, Ohio, and Jane Meyer of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Tammy Snell, Davenport, Erin and Jayson Wimmer, Simi Valley, and Devin McGuigan of Simi Valley; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Stroud with the Rev. Sandy Chace officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Stroud.

Memorials may be made to Caring Hand Hospice in Stroud or the American Cancer Society.

Edwin L. Darr

Edwin L. "Ed" Darr died Tuesday in Van Buren, Ark. The Seminole resident was 75.

He was born April 2, 1926, in Bon Special, Ark., the son of Charles William and Lou (Tuggle) Darr. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On Aug. 18, 1983, he and Lucille Hopkins were married in Seminole.

Darr was a retired custodian for Seminole Schools. He was a member of Wolf Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ira Darr of Seminole, Eddie and Paula Darr of Fort Smith, Ark., and Arthur and Gloria Ritchie of San Francisco, Calif.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gail Harwell of Muldrow and Nancy and Carroll Lowe of Maud; a brother and sister-in-law, Amil and Luetta Darr of Seminole; a sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Carl Roberts of Van Buren, Ark., and several grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Allen Wood will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Larry Johnson

Larry Johnson, 81, Tecumseh, died Wednesday in Shawnee.

The son of Clarence and Ethel (McMakin) Johnson was born April 5, 1920 in Macomb. The 1937 Macomb High School graduate earned a degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Pharmacy in 1948.

On May 24, 1941, he and Frankie Pauline Sheppard were married in Saint Louis.

Johnson, a pharmacist, owned and operated Larry's Drug in Shawnee until his 1992 retirement.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Johnson's parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melody Kay and John Gilstrap of Tulsa and O'Rita Fayne and Richard Bland of Beaverton, Ore.; a sister, Lucille Peters of Edmond, and four grandchildren, Courtney Gilstrap and Johnson Grant Gilstrap, both of Tulsa, and Cody Bland and Tyler Bland, both of Beaverton.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Bob Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Myrtle King

Myrtle King, 75, Tecumseh died Monday in Shawnee.

She was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Oregon.

She had lived in Oklahoma City, Fort Worth, Texas, and California before moving to Tecumseh in 1980.

The electronic technician was preceded in death by her parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her two stepsisters, Mildred Lookadoo of Tecumseh and Doris Cindle of Meeker; a granddaughter and her spouse, Tani Sims and Jerry Wall of Tecumseh; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Wall and Zachary Wall, both of Tecumseh, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service were held Wednesday at Brown Cemetery. The Rev. Will Bentley officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Billy Don Dunlap

Billy Don Dunlap, 59, Oklahoma City, died Sunday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

The son of Jewel Dunlap and Lonada Brannon Dunlap was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Seminole County.

Dunlap, a Baptist, was a self-employed barber and hair stylist.

In 1974, he and Imogene Dunlap were wed in Milwaukee, Wis.

Survivors include his wife of Milwaukee; two daughters, Sharnissa D. Parker of Milwaukee and Eleisha D. Dean of Oklahoma City; two sons, Gary Don Dunlap of Milwaukee and Billy Don Dunlap Jr. of El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Jewelie Mayzett of Boley, Wanda Phillips of Shawnee and Sandra Winrow of Earlsboro; two brothers, Mack Easley of Earlsboro and Clayton Armstead of Shawnee; as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Shawnee. The Rev. Rudolph Doss will officiate. Burial will be in Earlsboro Cemetery. Keller Funeral Home, Wewoka, is in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie B. Sands

Former Prague resident Bonnie B. Sands of Wichita, Kan., died Wednesday at an Omaha, Neb., hospital. She was 52.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Sands, Wichita, Kan.

Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Howard Newton

Howard Newton, 70, Wewoka, died Wednesday in Shawnee.

Memorial services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Willzetta Haslett

Former area resident Willzetta Haslett, Madill, died Friday at a Madill hospital. She was 87.

The daughter of John William and Saphronia Margarite Anglin England was born March 22, 1914, in Tecumseh. She grew up in the Tecumseh area. She moved from Maud to the Madill area in 1962.

On Aug. 3, 1929, she married James W. Haslett in Tecumseh.

Mrs. Haslett was a member of Maud First Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, all her brothers and sisters, her son, Jimmie Haslett, and her grandson, Michael Stalnaker.

Survivors include her daughters, Otheta Stalnaker of Reno, Nev., Rosemary Hutton of Shawnee; Nola Haslett, Glenda Gentry and Elaine Rose, all of Madill; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at the Little Cemetery, near Shawnee. Bill Matthews will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill.

Juanita Dodd

Juanita Dodd, 72, Shawnee, died Wednesday at her home. Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Judith Angela (Novy) Cichocki

Seminole resident Judith "Judy" Angela (Novy) Cichocki died Tuesday at University Hospital at the age of 30.

She was born Dec. 2, 1970, in St. Louis, Mo., to Larry Wayne and Judith Angela (Ogburn) Roberts.

She married Chris Cichocki Nov. 20, 1993, in Seminole and was a graduate of Strother High School.

The presser at Wrangler formerly worked for many years at Carl's Jr. and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita Andrea Barker.

Survivors include her husband, Chris of the home; two daughters, Tiffani and Alicia, both of the home; one brother, Loren Roberts of Atwood; one sister, Jeannette Roberts, and her parents, all of Seminole.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole. Burial will follow at the Little Cemetery.

Cecil Herman Helling

Seminole resident Cecil Herman Helling died Tuesday at Baptist Medical Center. He was 82.

He was born July 11, 1918, in Garber to Karl and Rebecca Helling.

Helling married Mamie Marie Presley April 9, 1955, in Seminole.

He was a retired oilfield worker and worked for Flint Rig Co.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister and one brother.

Survivors include two stepsons and daughters-in-law: Fred and Roberta Presley of Seminole and Gene and Mona Presley of Edmond; a brother, Art Helling of Garber; five grandchildren, Vickki Sells of San Angelo, Texas, Evelyn Presley of Copeville, Texas, Debra Presley of Denton, Texas, Nikki Presley of Los Angeles, Calif., and Tony Presley of Edmond, and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, with the Rev. Steve Kline officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Ralph Hill

Ralph Hill died Saturday at his residence in Dale. He was 74.

Services were Tuesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Walter officiating, assisted by the Rev. Doug Parker. Burial was at Dale Cemetery.

Hill was born March 16, 1927, in Dale, the son of Richard and Minnie Flossie (Kirkland) Hill. He had lived in the Dale area most of his life.

Hill served in the U.S. Army, spending 19 months in Japan at the end of World War II. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1982 as a flight line mechanic supervisor with 35 years of service; he then started an auto air-conditioning business at his home in Dale.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Ralph Vernon Hill; three sisters; and six brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Cornelia Hill of the home; two daughters, Linda Hill, Dale, and Elaine Patterson, Shawnee; grandchildren and their spouses, Dax and Crystal Hill, Newalla, and Toni and Robert Turnbow and Robin Patterson, all of Shawnee, and Sunny Mitchell, McLoud; a great-grandson, Dakota Ray Hill, Newalla; daughter-in-law, Deborah Elliott, McLoud; sister, Bonnie Shaffer, Oklahoma City; and many other relatives.

Donald Marion Heidel

Former Stroud resident Donald Marion Heidel, Claremore, died Wednesday in Claremore at the age of 65.

Heidel was born May 27, 1935, in Tulsa to William H. "Bill" and Frances (Hayes) Heidel. He had lived in Claremore for the past 14 years.

Heidel was a member of the First Christian Church in Stroud and was a truck driver for Ellsworth Trucking Co., Stroud.

He was preceded in death by his mother and sister.

Survivors include his father, William H. "Bill" Heidel of Claremore, and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stroud Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Molencupp officiating. Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud, are in charge of arrangements.
