Helen Wright

Lifelong Tecumseh resident Helen Wright, 78, died Thursday in Oklahoma City. Services are pending with Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Bruce Jenkins

Bruce Jenkins of Earlsboro died Wednesday at a local hospital. He was 95.

Jenkins was born March 7, 1906, in Macomb to Jackson Lafayette and Mary Dosha (Fitzpatrick) Jenkins. He attended Lone Star School and graduated from Macomb High School.

He graduated from East Central State Teachers College, Ada, and had attended Fresno State University.

On May 16, 1926, he married Ollie Jo Williams in Tecumseh.

Jenkins taught at Earlsboro Schools from 1929-41. He also worked in the oil fields and owned Jenkins Grocery Store in Earlsboro for two years.

For one year, he was principal at Willow School outside of Visalia, Calif., and then served 21 years as principal at Semitropics Elementary School, near Wasco, Calif.

Jenkins also coached a junior high boys state champion basketball team.

Jenkins was a member of the Earlsboro Church of Christ, California Teachers Association, Lions Club of Earlsboro, Pottawatomie County Retired Teachers Association, Pottawatomie County Development Authority, had served four years on the Earlsboro Board of Education and served on the Tri-County Rural Water Unit No. 2 board at Earlsboro.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Junior Mize, Earlsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Lou Eve Jenkins, Auberry, Calif.; grandchildren, Jay and Debbie Mize, Gail and Daryl Nash, Monte and Simone Mize, Jo Beth and Howard Parsons, Ray Mize, Bruce Jenkins III, June Perry, Alvis Lynn Jenkins, Duane Jr. and Melva Jenkins, Dana and Matthew Rickard, Gillen Bruce and Diana Jenkins, Alana Joy and Lyle Skip Brown, Tina and David Roe, Lynmarc and Suzanne Jenkins and Jon Eric Jenkins; 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1991, two sons, two sisters and six brothers.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Dennis Parmer officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Thelma Blain Clark

Thelma Blain Clark of Tecumseh died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 91.

She was born Jan. 8, 1910, in Lebanon, Okla., to Marshall and Myrtle (Parrish) Turner. She grew up in Sparks and attended Sparks Schools.

On July 21, 1928, she married Oscar Blain in Chandler and he preceded her in death May 6, 1962. She married H.R. "Buster" Clark on April 7, 1972, in Maud. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1988.

Mrs. Clark had lived in the Harjo and Tecumseh area since 1939. She and her first husband owned a grocery store near Harjo from 1939 to 1955. She later was a dietitian at a Shawnee hospital.

She was a member of the Rebekah's Lodge of Tecumseh.

Survivors include six sons and four daughters-in-law, Raymond Blain, Shawnee; Kenneth and Joan Blain, Konawa; Bob and Fern Blain, Bakersfield, Calif.; Don and Sue Blain, Midwest City; Merle and Judy Blain, Maypearl, Texas; and Bill Blain, Tecumseh; three daughters and a son-in-law, Marie Lott, Bakersfield; Melba and Jack Marsh and Margaret Outlaw, all of Tecumseh; two brothers, Marvin Turner, Gustine, Calif.; and Gail Turner, Tishomingo; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Raymond, Herman, Vernon and Densel Turner, and a sister, Lois Turner.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh, with Kenny Myers officiating. Burial will be in White Dove Cemetery, Sparks.

H.B. Hammack

H.B. "Bob" Hammack of Konawa died Thursday. He was 68.

Hammack was born Jan. 5, 1933, in Vincent, Okla., to Thelma Warner (English) and Burl Eugene Hammack. He married Grace Murdock on Jan. 23, 1954, in Boston, Mass.

The veteran of the U.S. Navy was a store owner and rancher. He moved from Norman to Konawa 20 years ago.

He was preceded in death by his sister Wanda.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Hammack, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Carla Hammack, Konawa; daughter, Diana Hammack, Konawa; two brothers, Willis Hammack, Norman; Raymond Hammack, Oklahoma City; two sisters, Ramona McCord, Tipton; Louise Farris, Rogers, Ark.; and two granddaughters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pickard Chapel, Konawa, with the Rev. Bob Bender officiating. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Ralph Hill

Ralph Hill died Saturday at his residence in Dale. He was 74.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Walter officiating, assisted by the Rev. Doug Parker. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery.

Hill was born in Dale March 16, 1927, the son of Richard and Minnie Flossie (Kirkland) Hill. He had lived in the Dale area most of his life.

Hill served in the U.S. Army, spending 19 months in Japan at the end of World War II. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1982 as a flight line mechanic supervisor with 35 years of service; he then started an auto air-conditioning business at his home in Dale.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Ralph Vernon Hill; three sisters; and five brothers.

He is survived by his wife Cornelia Hill of the home; two daughters, Linda Hill, Dale, and Elaine Patterson, Shawnee; grandchildren and their spouses, Dax and Crystal Hill, Newalla, and Toni and Robert Turnbow and Robin Patterson, all of Shawnee, and Sunny Mitchell, McLoud; a great-grandson; daughter-in-law, Deborah Elliott, McLoud; sister, Bonnie Shaffer, Oklahoma City; and many other relatives.

George Wilbert Casey

Longtime Lincoln County farmer George Wilbert Casey died Saturday in Sulphur at the age of 88.

He was born Oct. 24, 1912, in Lawton, the son of James Marion and Martha Ellen (McVey) Casey. After being orphaned as a small child, he was raised by his sister, Wana King.

Casey served in the armed forces, beginning as a horseshoeing instructor from 1936 to 1937 at Fort Sill. In 1956 and 1957 he was in charge of range personnel on Jones Ridge Rifle Range. He served overseas during World War II and the Korean conflict. He retired as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after serving 20 years. He had lived on his farm in Lincoln County for the past 40 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his sister, Winifred "Wana" Harper King, Oklahoma City; nieces, Mercedes Cook, Houston, and Jackie Goodman, Oklahoma City; nephews, Jim Harper, Oklahoma City, and Robert "Bob" Harper, Tulsa; and many other relatives.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Oak Park Cemetery of Chandler with the Rev. Thom Chappelle officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Bill Washburn

Bill Washburn of Norman died Saturday at a Norman hospital . He was 83.

He was born Feb. 16, 1918, in Okemah to William Wandrew Washburn and Lena (McBride) Washburn.

He attended grade school in Pauls Valley, later completing his high school education while in the U.S. Army.

Washburn was an aircraft mechanic, working at Tinker Air Force Base. He was employed there 20 years and retired Nov. 1, 1963.

Washburn was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946. He was attached to the 1st Airborne Division and the 506 Military Police. He served in England, France, Belgium and Germany.

He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Washburn lived in Shawnee most of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Hazel Washburn; daughter, Tobie Smith; brother, Glen Washburn; and sister, Jackie Washburn.

Surviving are son, Allen Washburn of Norman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Wayne Blue of Stephenville, Texas, and Jeanette and Bobby Rich of Hobbs, N.M.; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Vera Washburn, Shawnee; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Victory Tabernacle, Tecumseh. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Walter Junior Nipper

Longtime Shawnee resident Walter Junior Nipper, 55, died Sunday at his home.

Nipper was born July 9, 1945, in Modesto, Calif., the son of Walter and Agnes Nipper.

He was reared in the Prague/Shawnee area and graduated from Shawnee High School.

On April 29, 1968, he married Betty Kelley in Konawa.

Nipper was a self-employed truck driver who leased to J.W. Welborn Trucking, Shawnee.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Nipper was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, Alpha Kelley, and father-in-law, Arlan "Spike" Kelley.

Survivors are his wife of the home; daughter, Brandy Nipper of Shawnee; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carrie and Ernie Coleman of Shawnee and Lois and Bill Cooksey of Eufaula; and several cousins.

Graveside services for Nipper will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the director of Roesch-Walker Funeral Home.

Robbie Stubblefield Ritter

Stroud resident Robbie Ritter died Sunday in her home at the age of 71.

Ritter was born Aug. 21, 1929, to John Stubblefield and Cordie (Mayfield) Stubblefield.

A lifelong Stroud resident, she was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Stroud and worked at the Stroud Hospital for many years as a licensed practical nurse.

She married Warner J. Ritter Dec. 29, 1945, in Chandler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Survivors include her husband Warner of the home; two sons, Warner J. Ritter Jr. of Bowie, Texas, and Martin Randall Ritter of The Colony, Texas; five daughters, Robbie Hoppes of Depew, Judy Ritter of Burleson, Texas, Sheila Morrison, Stroud, Bettie Caroll, Bowie, Texas, and Ramona Olson of Jones; four sisters, Vieva Murfin, Stroud, Mable Allen, Cushing, and Betty Harrelson, Drumright; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Stroud with the Rev. Don Wilburn officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services in Stroud.

Edna M. Brison

Edna M. Brison died Monday at her home in Wellston. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Parks Funeral Home of Chandler.

Robert Thrasher

Tecumseh resident Robert Thrasher died Monday in his home at the age of 70.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Audrey Verlene (Dobbins) Sharp

Lifetime Konawa resident Audrey Verlene (Dobbins) Sharp died Friday at her home in Konawa. She was 73.

She was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Clem Scott, Okla., to George E. Dobbins and Nora Lee (Chamblee) Dobbins.

She married Troy F. Sharp July 11, 1944, in Maud.

She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Baptist Church in Maud.

Survivors include her husband, Troy F. Sharp, of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Tom and Mary Sharp, Shawnee; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharyn and Virgil Taylor, Owasso, and Jan and Philip Mullins, Konawa; sister, Inez Salmons, Arkansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren, Virgil Taylor II, Kaylynn Taylor, Rachel Ray, Amanda Leslie and Rebekah Mullins; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, seven sisters and one grandson, Brandon Sharp.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church of Maud with the Rev. Wayne Taylor and the Rev. Glen Williams. Burial will be at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Knight Funeral Home of Maud.
