Vincent Elzie Payne

Vincent Elzie Payne of Wanette died Saturday at a Purcell hospital. He was 73.

Payne was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Konawa to Russell Harrison and Flora Jane (Owens) Payne.

He attended school in the Konawa area and had lived in Wanette since 1986.

On July 22, 1971, he married Catherine Hill in Van Buren, Ark.

He was a minister in many churches, including Pentecostal churches in Oklahoma and California.

Payne joined the U.S. Navy during World War II when he was 14.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Payne of the home; two daughters, Catherine Belveeta Payne and Sherry Franceen Payne, both of the home; four sons, Matthew Tittus Payne of the home and Spencer Payne, Vincent Payne and Michael Payne, all of California; two sisters, Esther Fuller and Marie Long, both of Konawa; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Plummer Paul Payne and Harvey Payne, and four sisters, Bell Hill, Ida Payne, Virginia Sellers and Renia Payne.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Wanette Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Curt Bartmess and the Rev. Archie Beller officiating. Burial will be in Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Ethel Louann (Moon) Greeling

Tecumseh resident Ethel Greeling died Friday in Tecumseh at the age of 67.

She was born Oct. 25, 1933, in Macomb to John Daniel and Addie Ellen (Gregory) Moon.

She attended school at Eagle and Tecumseh and married Raymon Greeling July 30, 1952, in Van Buren, Ark.

Greeling was a certified nurse's assistant who worked at Tecumseh Sunset Estates Nursing Home for nine years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include one son, Raymon Greeling of Tecumseh; one daughter and son-in-law, Ramona and Jack Boland of Bethel; five grandchildren, Zackory, Jacob and Heather Greeling, all of Tecumseh, and Logann and Ashlynn Boland, Bethel; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Linzey Linn, California; seven brothers and six sisters-in-law, Leroy and Peggy Moon, California, Irlie and Mary Moon, Macomb, Lecil and Betty Moon, Pearson, Kenneth and Sookie Moon, Whitefield, Elbert and Jackie Moon, Quinton, Dean Moon, Tecumseh, and Delbert and Carlita Moon of Quinton; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law Elva Roark, Wichita Falls, Texas, Thelma Duran, Dean and D.B. Jones and Skip Blalock, all of Shawnee.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James McCalip officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation began Monday at Cooper Funeral Home.

Joyce Shaw

Former Shawnee resident Joyce (Stubbs) Shaw of San Antonio, Texas, died Monday in San Antonio. Services are pending under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Jerry Donn Toles

Prague resident Jerry Donn Toles died Monday in Jackson, Ga., at the age of 46.

Services are pending under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Orland Glen Moore Jr.

Services for Orland Glen "Pete" Moore Jr. are Wednesday at the Harrah United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Edmond.

Moore died Saturday.

He was born Sept. 23, 1930, to Orland Glenn and Grace Moore in Hominy.

He attended elementary school at Kendall Hall and Barnard in Tulsa and Longview, Texas.

He also attended Woodrow Wilson Junior High School and graduated in 1968 from Will Rogers High School in Oklahoma City.

He received his bachelor's degree from Central State College in 1966 and a master's degree in public administration in 1968 from the University of Oklahoma.

Moore worked for Harris Meat Packing Company in Western Division Sales from 1951 to 1961. He taught at U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City in 1968 and taught political science and public personnel management at Central State College from 1969 to 1991. He was honored by the student association as the Outstanding Educator for 1988-89.

He and Margaret Ellen Davidson were married Feb. 11, 1955. They moved to Harrah in 1972.

He was a member of the Harrah Methodist Church and involved in all church activities.

He is survived by his wife Ellen Moore of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Gideon Lau, Chickasha, and Linda and Terry Sanchez, Harrah; three grandchildren, Amanda, Austin and Andy Lau and many other family members and friends.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Harrah Methodist Church, 2224 N. Harrison, Harrah, 73045 or the American Heart Association, 3545 NW 58th, Suite 400C, Oklahoma City 73112. Asa Smith Funeral Services is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Donna Gail Stanford

Donna Gail Stanford, 58, Oklahoma City, died Friday.

Visitation and services are at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany. Services began 10 a.m. Monday and burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview.

She was born Jan. 6, 1943, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Howard E. and Lucille McCord Bush.

She and Gene Stanford were married in 1967 at Garden Grove, Calif. The couple moved to Oklahoma City in 1967.

Mrs. Stanford, a nurse for 34 years, spent most of her career as a surgical nurse at the Deaconess Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Sanford, of the home; daughter and son-in-law Shelley and Chuck Rahill, Edmond; parents Howard and Lucille Bush, Hutchinson, Kan.; mother-in-law and father-in-law Elsie and Clarence Edwards, Canton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law G.M. and Bonnie Honeyfield, Fort Cobb; and granddaughter Ellie Rahill, Edmond.

Minnie E. Johnston

Eufaula resident Minnie Johnston died Thursday in Eufaula at the age of 88.

She was born Sept. 16, 1912, in Texanna to Madison Johnson Duke and Bertha Bell (Holloway) Duke. She grew up in Texanna and attended Central High School. She married Odus Johnston July 5, 1929, in Warner and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Johnston moved in 1930 to Shawnee, where she lived until a few months prior to her death. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers.

Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Don Peterson of Coulterville, Calif.; a niece and her husband, Linda and Floyd White, Modesto, Calif., and a great-nephew, Adrian White.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Fixico officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park.

Ava Gaye Wright Talton

Ava Gaye Wright Talton, 41, Shawnee, died Wednesday in Shawnee.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel Temple of Praise and Deliverance with Pastor Odell Hardeman officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

She was born Sept. 30, 1959, in Stonewall to Austin and Thelma Colbert Wright. She graduated from Stonewall High School and attended East Central University for two years.

She was employed at Eaton for 23 years, but also worked at Solo Cup in Ada for several years.

She and R.C. Talton were married Aug. 11, 1979, in Stonewall. The couple moved to Shawnee in 1979.

Mrs. Talton was member of the Emmanuel Temple of Praise and Deliverance.

She is preceded in death by her father, Austin Wright.

Survivors include her husband, R.C. Talton, of the home; three sons, Dewaylio Caryal Talton, Jadako Jay Austin Talton and Bryce Dakato Talton, all of Shawnee; one daughter, Roiesha Nicole Talton, Shawnee; her mother Thelma Colbert Wright, Chandler; one sister, Glenda Price, Chandler; one brother, Clint Wright, Chandler, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel is in charge of the services.

Dorothy Marie Yoder

Dorothy Marie Yoder, 80, a former home health care aide, died Friday at her residence in Shawnee.

She was born June 18, 1921, to James and Elsie Johnson Brown in Oktaha.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Diane Johnson.

Survivors include one daughter, Lynda L. Stone, of the home; one granddaughter and her husband, Stephanie and Zachary Woodard, Oklahoma City; grandson and his wife, Chad and Cheri Johnson, Tulsa; grandson Chris Johnson, Tulsa; great-grandchildren Mary Woodard, Oklahoma City, Megan Johnson, Tulsa, and C.J. Johnson, Tulsa; sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Joe Fletcher, Muskogee; nephews, several great nieces and great nephews and a dear friend, Darlene Dayton, Chandler, Ariz.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Chaplain Glen Pence officiating. Roesch-Walker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rylan Chavez Rivas

Services for Rylan Chavez Rivas are 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Stroud.

The Rev. Jim Bierd will officiate with burial following in the Stroud Cemetery. Parks Brothers Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

The infant son of Charley and Bridget Ash Rivas was born and died in Oklahoma City Friday.

Survivors include his parents, Charley and Bridget Rivas, Stroud; grandparents Angie Ford of Bristow, Bill and Beverly Ash and Manuel and Connie Rivas, all of Stroud; great-grandparents Joe and Betty Hankins of Kendrick, Manuel and Norma Rivas of Prague, Sigrid Doubert of Pennsylvania, Ray and Cumma Ash and Alvin and Alta Hightower, all of Stroud; great-great grandmother Ruby Woods, Shawnee, and other relatives and friends.

Jason Allen McNerney

Shawnee resident Jason Allen McNerney died Friday at the age of 23.

McNerney, a trainer for the Oklahoma Baptist University baseball and track teams, recently graduated from OBU with a degree in sports medicine.

He was born July 16, 1977.

He was a 1995 graduate of Foyil High School, where he played baseball and football.

He is survived by his parents, Don McNerney and Ann Musgrove of Springfield, Mo.; his special parents, who raised him, Bruce and Sandy Mathis of Claremore; a brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Mandy Mathis of Foyil; a sister and brother-in-law, Nicole and Dan West of Claremore; two brothers, Dustin Davis and Michael Davis, both of Claremore; a stepsister, Kim Caldwell of Salina, Okla.; godmother, Peggy Cavalier of Locust Grove; two nephews, Hunter Mathis of Foyil and Koby West of Claremore; a niece, Erica Mathis of Foyil; and many friends.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until noon Monday.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Baptist Church of Foyil with the Rev. Larry McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at the Wards Grove Cemetery. Rice Funeral Home of Claremore is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Jason McNerney memorial fund at RCB Bank, 300 W. Patti Page Blvd., Claremore, OK 74017; or to the Cystic Fibrosis Solutions.
