Lorena Mack Wood

Lifelong Shawnee resident Lorena Mack Wood died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 90.

Mrs. Wood was born March 7, 1909, in Shawnee. She was married to Freeland Wood Sr. She was a homemaker and was member of the Sallateeska Baptist Church and the Sac and Fox Nation.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, H.D. and Katie Wood, Shawnee; daughter, Patricia L. Ward of the home; adopted children, Judy, Dona, Juanita, Chester, Jerome, Don and Chub; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; children, Freeland Jr., Eddie, Bob, Jim and Edgar Wood, Betty Hernandez, Billie Joe Wood and Sue Tiger.

Services were held 2 p.m. Monday at Sallateeska Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Harris, Rev. Ellis Rollette and Rev. Ike Shade officiating. Tribal Rites were held Monday evening at her residence. Burial will be this morning at Wakolee Family Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Katherine Grace Margaret McKay

Former Paden area resident Katherine Grace Margaret "Mrs. Buck" McKay of Pineville, Mo., died Sunday in Neosho, Mo. She was 84.

Mrs. McKay was born Oct. 15, 1914, in McCawber, Okla., to James Andrew and Maude Alma (White) Nolan. She married William Henry "Buck" McKay on Oct. 5, 1930, in Bristow. She lived in the Paden area until 1976 when she moved to Edmond. She lived in Edmond until 1996 when she moved to Pineville, Mo.

Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Marie McKay of Jay, Okla., Ben and Evelyn McKay of Prague, Bob and Geraldine McKay of Claremore, Don and Valera McKay of Blanchard and Tom and Lorrie McKay of Oklahoma City; three daughters and sons-in-law, Clara and Benny Bell of Eufaula, Sherry and Jim Collins of Pineville, Mo., and Tammy and Charles Strawn of Paris, France; three sisters, Gertrude Wilson of McAlester, Eunice Hopkins of McAlester and Mary Parker of Okemah; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 1, 1976; her parents; three brothers; and one sister.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague. Burial will be in the Prague Cemetery.

Emmett L. Johnson

Emmett L. Johnson died Sunday in Georgetown, Texas. He was 63.

He was a resident of Austin, Texas, for 32 years. He began his career with IBM in Lexington, Ky., transferring to Austin in 1967. He retired from IBM in 1990 with 34 years of service. After retiring from IBM, he took a job with the Texas State Senate as a car guard. He retired from the state of Texas in 1997 because of health problems.

He was a member of Mount Vernon Lodge No. 14 A.F. and A.M. in Georgetown, Ky., Masonic Lodge No. 227 in Round Rock, Texas, and was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple and Ben Hur Shrine Temple. He was past president of the Ben Hur Lizzyteers and past president of the SREKOJ Clown Unit. He worked as a clown and will be remembered as "Loco" the clown.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley D. Johnson Sr.; grandson, Larry E. Herrin Jr.; step-father, Stanley Underwood; and mother-in-law, Katheryn Ribbeck.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Michaeleen Johnson of Austin, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Emily Johnson of Dale, Texas, and Paula and Larry Herrin Sr. of Georgetown, Texas; his mother, Pauline Underwood of Georgetown, Ky.; grandchildren, Denny Herrin and Kathaeleen Herrin and her fiance Aaron Sweeten, all of Georgetown, Texas; Emmett L. Johnson II, Stanley D. Johnson Jr. and his fiancee Eron Farris, all of Austin, Texas, Jennifer L. Johnson of Beaverton, Ore., and Julia Johnson of Littleton, Colo; great-grandson, Trey Allen Johnson of Austin, Texas; extended family, Minnie and Gale Horton and Mahala and Jewell Rock, all of Shawnee, and Ed and Beth Ribbeck of Alaska; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by funeral services in the Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Georgetown, Texas. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in the City Cemetery, Stroud. Arrangements are under the direction of Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home.

Ricky James Young

Ricky James Young died Sunday in Paden. He was 27.

He was born July 13, 1971, in Great Falls, Mont., to Richard L. and Lynda L. (Goss) Young. He lived in the Prague area all of his life and was a masonry laborer.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, maternal grandfather, one uncle and two aunts.

Surviving are his parents, Richard and Lynda Young of Prague; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Justin Lee Young of Prague and Chadrick and Jessica Young of Calisville, Mont.; one nephew, Chance Young; his maternal grandmother, Jane Goss; paternal grandmother, Gertta Young; aunts and uncles, Robert and Charlotte Capp, Marie Goss, Penny Faldzinsky, Betty and Dale Kapphan, Carl and Darla Goss, Wade and Linda Goss, Leo and Jackie Goss, Dennis and Kathy Young, Dwayne Young, Herman and Alice Dolphan, Alma Jones and Katherine Young.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Nazarene Church in Prague with the Rev. Kenneth Jones officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Raymond Clifford Pierce

Raymond Clifford Pierce died Friday in Ada. He was 57.

He was born Nov. 11, 1941 in Guymon to Audra and James Clifford Pierce. He was a police officer and long distant truck driver.

He is survived by four daughters, Carla King, Vernon, Texas; Teresa Bolanand Kimberly Pierce, both of Konawa; Audra McWalian, Georgia; four sons, James Losen Pierce, Liberal, Kansas; Roy Don pierce, Oklahoma City; Bradley Jason Pierce, Blanchard; Ronnie Ray Pierce, Konawa; mother, Audra Pierce, Konawa; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Richard Simpson, Sweeny, Texas; one brother, Russell Pierce, Konawa; and 12 grandchildren.

Wilma June Rakovan

Wilma June Rakovan of Shawnee died Saturday at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 73.

She was born June 12, 1928, in Bethel to Ulysses and Maggie (Hutchins) Hart.

She was a Bethel High School graduate.

She married Michael Rakovan on July 26, 1947, in Reno, Nev.

Rakovan retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after 30 years.

She lived most of her life in the Shawnee and Bethel areas.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, Dortha Chancellor and Loretta Farris, and two brothers, Richard and Floyd Hart.

Surviving are her husband, Michael Rakovan of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Kittie Rakovan of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter, Linda Rakovan, and her fiancé, Michael Shadaram, of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Rick and Chris Rakovan of Shawnee and Evan Rakovan of North Carolina; brother, James Hart of Shawnee; five sisters, Velma Coffman and Shirley Slaten, both of Shawnee, Marjorie Coffin of Toledo, Ohio, Janet Joyce of Wall, S.D., and Barbara Vickers of Odessa, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Betty Barnett

Betty Barnett of Tecumseh died Monday. She was 73.

She was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Okemah to Guy and Dovie (Anderson) Dearman.

She lived in Oklahoma all her life and has lived in Tecumseh the past 36 years.

Barnett was a homemaker who was active in the church and community. She was a member of the Oklahoma Pentecostal Church for several years and was recently attending Evangelistic Center Church.

Preceding her in death were three sons, Loyd Barnett Jr., Jimmy Leon Barnett and Jim Barnett; her parents; two sisters, Verna Dunaway and Doris Lane; and brother Guy Dearman.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Ray Hascall, Marquetta and Jerry Kilgore and Valerie and Derrell Fowler, all of Tecumseh; one son, Ron Barnett of Tecumseh; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Evangelistic Center Church with Lillian Robertson, music minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Glen Zell Perry

The Rev. Glenn Zell Perry died Friday in Oklahoma City at the age of 81.

He was born Oct. 27, 1919, in Braggs, Okla., to Claude and Cora Perry. He spent the last 25 years in Paden.

He married Opal Jeweldean Mayfield and would have been married 62 years Sept. 23.

Perry served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a minister and carpenter and served a number of churches since 1954, with the most recent being the First Holiness Church of Prague.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Perry is survived by his wife, Opal of the home; one son, Monte Perry of Bristow; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Michael Dowty of Sapulpa; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law; nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at the Free Holiness Church of Bristow with the Rev. Paul Heard and the Rev. Melvin Duke officiating. Burial will follow at the Paden Cemetery at 3 p.m. under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home of Bristow.

Burman Coy Autrey

Burman Coy "B.C." Autrey of Shawnee died Monday in a local hospital. He was 79.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Jimmie Leon Widener

Jimmie Leon Widener of Seminole died Saturday at his home. He was 77.

He was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Cleveland, Okla., to Carl James and Lucille Victoria (Cole) Widener.

He married Aileen Franks on Jan. 20, 1990, in Seminole.

Widener was an entertainer on television and radio, where he played guitar and sang.

He was a member in several bands, including Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Spade Cooley, Tex Williams, The Whipporwills and Country Gentlemen.

Widener was inducted into the Western Swing Society Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, The Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville, Tenn., and in 1999, he and other members of the Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

Widener served in the U.S. Army during World War II, participate in the Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe and Rhineland campaigns. He received a Good Conduct medal and the European African Middle Western Campaign medal. He also served under Gen. George S. Patton and was among the first military group to liberate the Dachou Concentration camp.

He was a member of the American Legion and also was a Mason.

Widener was member of Highway Baptist Church in Seminole.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Bettie Ruth Widener on March 22, 1989; one brother, Neil Widener in 1997; and one sister, June Hurley in 1995.

Surviving are his wife, Aileen of the home; son, James Paul Widener of Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Cherel Dotson of Vancouver, Wash., and Bettie Marlene Russo of Battle Ground, Wash.; one stepson, Billie Mark Williams of Woodlawn, Ill., and one stepdaughter, Barbara King of Salem, Ore.; brother Donald Widener of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister Shirley Gilbert of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating.

Burial services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

John J. Dickerson

Graveside services for John J. Dickerson, 86, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, Kan., with the Rev. Cindy Watson officiating.

Dickerson died Sunday at Shawnee Regional Hospital.

He was born Dec. 2, 1914, to John and Minnie Pearl Grey Dickerson in Oswego, Kan.

He lived in Lyons from 1955 until 1998 before moving to Oklahoma to live with his daughter.

Dickerson was a retired oil field worker. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge, both of Lyons, and the carpenters' union, Wichita, Kan.

He is preceded in death by his wife; one son, Jerry Dickerson; infant daughter, Redith Dickerson; three brothers and one sister.

He and Marjorie L. Janssen were married Nov. 1, 1936, in Lyons.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dick and Judy Moody, Shawnee; daughter-in-law, Sherry Dickerson, Louisville, Colorado; five grandchild, Kevin Moody and Jill Michael of Shawnee, Ryan Moody of Norman, Timothy Dickerson and Jason Dickerson, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Lyons United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
