Carolyn Schwartz

Tecumseh resident Carolyn Schwartz died Friday in Tecumseh. She was 56.

Schwartz was born Feb. 8, 1943, in Brownsville, Texas, to Verlon and Coleen (Sandefur) New. She married Richard Schwartz on July 11, 1979, in Bakersfield, Calif.

She was a homemaker who spent most of her life in Bakersfield and in Oklahoma.

Schwartz was preceded in death by her father, her stepfather and a brother, Corky New.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, of the home; mother, Coleen Oloffo, Tecumseh; stepmother, Ethel New, Spiro; two sisters, Rita Ogles, Tecumseh; Billie Jean Walters, Bakersfield, Calif.; two daughters, Phyllis Loveless and Margie Westphal, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sons, Ron Landers and Darryl Landers, both of Bakersfield, Calif., and Scott Sheehan; four stepchildren, Robin Davies, Paul Schwartz and Ricky Schwartz, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; Christina Pesina, Dallas, Texas; and 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are 4 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ashworth officiating.

Jack B. McCarty

Tulsa resident Jack B. McCarty died Saturday in Tulsa. He was 71.

McCarty was born April 3, 1928, in Robinson, Ill., to Herbert and Geraldine (Burns) McCarty. He attended school in Robinson, Ill., and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in petroleum engineering. McCarty served with the U.S. Army for three years in the Korean War and also served in Germany before his discharge in 1956. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

McCarty married Tessamae Bizzle on Sept. 2, 1955, in Shawnee. He had previously resided in Evansville, Ind., Lafayette, La., and Snyder, Texas, but had lived in Tulsa for the past 21 years.

McCarty worked for Sohio Petroleum Company, Hugh Barger Engineering and Sun Company. He retired in 1983.

McCarty was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineering and Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette, La.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, T.J. Eggebrecht.

Survivors include his wife, Tessamae, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Teresa McCarty, Tyler, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teri Lynn and Glenn Corbett, Canyon Country, Calif.; Tamera and Jim Eggebrecht, College Station, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Charles Carraway, Robinson, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

LaDawn Elizabeth Tingler

Midwest City resident LaDawn Elizabeth Tingler died Saturday in a Midwest City hospital. She was 67.

Tingler was born April 27, 1932, in Shawnee to Orvil L. and Virgie May Skelton. She married Jay D. Tingler on Dec. 23, 1948, in Shawnee.

She had lived in Shawnee for 35 years and was a member of the Douglas Boulevard United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Jay, of the home; one daughter, Debra Lee Tingler, Edmond; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Keith Daniel Tingler, Midwest City; David and Erin Tingler, Norman; Doug and Kathy Tingler, Shawnee; Joseph Tingler, Norman; and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Phyllis Brown

Lifelong Shawnee resident Phyllis Brown died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 66.

Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Shawnee to Holden and Ina Lee (McClure) Herrin. She married Jack Brown on June 12, 1953.

She graduated from Shawnee High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Brown, Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Jane and Chuck Vrana; and grandsons, Coleman, Derek and J.C.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Dr. Paul Calmes officiating.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church of Shawnee.

William Monroe Clem

William Monroe "Bill" Clem, Tecumseh, died Friday in a local hospital. He was 85.

Clem was born on June 13, 1914, in Bienville, La., to Arthur Monroe and Annie (Belle) Clem.

He graduated from Shawnee High School. Clem was a salesman who had retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. He had also worked for C.R. Anthony and Johnson-Templeton. Clem served in the U.S. Marine Corp. and was active in the American Legion. He married Mary Ellen Simpson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Warren, Walter, Arthur and Jimmie Clem; and one sister, Jean Casey.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen, Tecumseh; one son, William "Buster" C. Clem, Tecumseh; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Agnes and Clifford Smith, Tecumseh; Patricia Ann and Larry Ward, Tucson, Ariz.; four grandsons, Kirk Mathes, Charles and Bobby Clem and Rusty Smith; three granddaughters, Lori Ann Gentry, Cindy Lynn Terronez and Cindy Renee Stiles; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Robbins, Modesto, Calif.; Anna Mae Sudderth, Santee, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Betty Clem, Shawnee.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charles Edward Clem officiating.

Dicie L. Young

Shawnee resident Dicie L. Young died Monday at her home. She was 90.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel. Burial will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Spencerville Cemetery in Hugo.

Lloyd Randolph Carl

Waco, Texas, resident Lloyd Randolph Carl died Saturday in Waco. He was 67.

Carl was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Midway, Okla. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a construction contractor and was employed by Texas Copper Works as a supervisor. He had lived in Okfuskee County for many years before moving to Waco.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Carl, of the home; son, Randy Carl, Waco, Texas; daughters, Terri Corbin, Tamra Carl and Delta Kerns, all of Waco, Texas; Loralie Carl, Shreveport, La.; Sherry Long, Tulsa; stepson, Chad Simpson, and stepdaughter, Scarlet Thomas, both of Texas; brothers, Richmond Carl, Manteca, Calif.; Shelby Carl, Phoenix, Ariz.; Clifford Carl, Midwest City; sister, Junie Belcher, Mason; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at BrookView Funeral Home Chapel in Waco, Texas. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Welty Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Nora Crary

Former Sparks resident Nora Crary of Rosemead, Calif., died Monday. She was 98.

Mrs. Crary was born May 11, 1901, in Cashion. She married George Crary in December of 1922.

Survivors include her son, Ralph Crary, of the home; daughters, Georgia Nolen, Asher; Wanda Ray, Shawnee; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, one brother and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1958; two grandsons, one great-grandson, four sisters and one brother.

Services will be Thursday at Rose Hills Funeral Home in Whittier, Calif.

Stella Austin
Stella (Ford) Austin, 73, of Little died Wednesday in Ada.

Survivors include four brothers, Ollison Ford of Russellville, Ark., Lewie Ford of Russellville, Ark., Loy Ford of Pelsor, Ark. and Troy Ford of Heavener; four sisters, Bonnie Bridges of Clarksville, Ark., Jean Ragland of Atkins, Ark., Ava Smith of Russellville, Ark. and Rosie Collins of Russellville, Ark.; brother-in-law, Charlie Austin of Wenatchee, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Beckett of Hominy and Nellie Smith of Tulsa; and caregiver, Jewel Roach of Cromwell.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Highway Baptist Church in Little with the Rev. Cal Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.

Jackie Lee Russell
Jackie Lee "Jack" Russell, 56, of Maud died Monday at Seminole.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Wallace Russell of the home; sons, Everrett Russell, Richard W. Russell and Vernon Wesley Russell, all of Jonesboro, Ark.; stepsons, Wayne Baize of Milfay and Quinton Baize of Del City; daughter, Sherry A. Campbell of Jonesboro, Ark.; brothers, Ronnie Russell of Paragould, Ark., and Gary Russell of Jonesboro, Ark.; sisters, Sue Nance and Debbra Dill of Jonesboro, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are pending in Arkansas at the Rolland-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ark. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland, Ark.

Local services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.

Edna Davis Foster
Edna Davis Foster, 92, of Tecumseh died Saturday in Oklahoma City.

She was born June 23, 1910, in Lookeba to Eugene William and Mary Susan (Lester) Staley.

Foster grew up in Lookeba and later moved to Illinois, where she lived for 25 years. She had resided in Tecumseh since 1966.

She married Joseph Davis on Nov. 3, 1928, in Bristow. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1972. She married Troy Foster on Jan. 23, 1979. He preceded her in death in 1987.

She was a homemaker.

Foster was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leroy Staley and Austin Staley; and one sister, Ethel Mae Houser.

Survivors include sisters, Hazel Greer of Chandler and Florence Marie Morris of Bristow; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Magnolia Cemetery in Bristow with the Rev. W.F. Crow officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Nikki J. Graham
Nikki J. Graham, 45, died March 31, 2003.

Services are pending with Smith-Parks Funeral Service of Harrah.

Rita McAnulty
Rita Gazaway McAnulty, 51, Chandler, died Saturday in Chandler.

Survivors include her son, Scott Hinds, Oklahoma City; sisters, Carol McClung, Mississippi, and Sharon Gazaway, Shawnee; brothers, Ronnie Gazaway, Texas, and Russell Gazaway; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at White Dove Cemetery, Sparks, with the Rev. Hugh Willoby officiating.

Services are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.
