Edna Lucille Kimbley

Lincoln County pioneer Edna Lucille Kimbley died Sunday in a Warrensburg, Mo., care center. She was 97.

She was born Sept. 4, 1901, in Howard, Kan., the daughter of Charles Edward and Rosa Mae Maxwell Wheeler. The family moved to Lincoln County by horse and wagon in 1904, and she lived most of her life in the area. She was a member of the Meeker Christian Church. In 1919, she married Virgil Hayden Kimbley in Chandler. He preceded her in death in 1986, after 67 years of marriage.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Wayne Robert Kimbley and Hayden Virgil Kimbley; daughter, Edith Kimbley; four brothers, Roy Wheeler, Lloyd Wheeler, Orville Wheeler and Scotty Wheeler; sister, Margaret Bishop; and granddaughter, Christina Kimbley Ledbetter.

Surviving are her son, Jim E. Kimbley, Warrensburg, Mo.; one stepdaughter, three grandsons; one stepgrandson; 13 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Chandler, with the Rev. Don Campo officiating. The family will gather at the chapel at 9 a.m.

William George Neale

Former Shawnee businessman William George "Billy" Neale of Phoenix, Ariz., died Dec. 31 at the age of 95.

He was born Dec. 31, 1903, in Shawnee to Charles M. and Violet C. Wade Neale. He attended Shawnee High School. He was owner of Shawnee Motor Supply Co. He sold the business in 1956 and moved to Sedona, Ariz., where he was involved in real estate.

Neale was a member of the First Presbyterian Church while in Shawnee and was a member of Rotary Club and the Sedona Garden Club in Arizona. He became an ordained minister at Sedona Episcopal Church in 1967. He was a baritone soloist for many community functions and, at age 70, became estate keeper and gardener for Arizona Gov. Bruce Babbitt.

He married Martha Elizabeth Johnston in 1925 and she preceded him in death in 1955. He married Martha Rose Havard in 1964 and she preceded him in death in 1997.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; daughters, Dorothy Neale Kessler and Patricia Neale Askin; and brother, Charles Robinson Neale.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Charles R. "Bob" and Pam Neale, Shawnee; brother, John Hamilton Neale, Hawaii; stepson, David Whetmore Neale, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

David K. Martin

David K. Martin of Tecumseh died Sunday in Byars at the age of 60.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with the Rev. William Bentley officiating. Burial service will be 2 p.m. at Byrds Prairie Cemetery in Coal County.

David K. Martin was born Sept. 3, 1938, at Clarita to C.H. and Edith (Shockey) Martin. He was reared in Coal County and had lived in Kinsley, Kan. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, serving in Germany. He also was in the U.S. Army Reserve. Following military service, he moved to Tecumseh in 1964 and had lived there since.

He married Shirley June Turner in Coalgate in 1960 and she preceded him in death in 1981.

Martin retired from the City of Tecumseh where he had served as supervisor of the water department and plumbing inspector. He also was retired from the Tecumseh Fire Department and was working for the City of Shawnee as waste water treatment lab technician. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Tecumseh and American Legion Hill-Huett Post 260 of Tecumseh. He played guitar.

Also preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Jack and Shorty Martin.

Surviving are his daughter, Shari L. Martin, Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and LeAnn Martin, Oklahoma City; sister and brother-in-law, Sis and Jack Jones, Coal County; Charlene Holder, Coalgate; brothers and sisters-in-law, E.C. and Emmy Martin, Coalgate; Wayne and Gloria Martin, Spencer and Lynn Martin, Carl Martin, all of Tupelo; grandsons, Steven and Dustin Goodman; one great-grandson; special friend, Shirley Toombs, Wynnewood, and many other relatives.

Christopher Lance Bishop

Christopher Lance Bishop died Wednesday. He was 19.

Bishop was born Nov. 10, 1979, in Oklahoma City to Phillip Stanley and Beverley Bishop.

Survivors include his mother, Beverley, Oklahoma City; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Stacy Cochran, Luther; brothers, Phillip Bishop Jr. and Matthew Bishop, both of Oklahoma City; grandmothers, Opal Cogburn, Oklahoma City and Lois Martindale, Davenport; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Bishop Sr.; grandfathers, Stanley Bishop and Lewis Bullock; and his uncle, Stephen Bishop.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Davenport under the direction of Brown's Funeral Home, Luther, with the Rev. Mike Mitchell officiating.

Willa Marie Prior

Okemah resident Willa Marie Prior died Friday at a Tulsa hospital. She was 78.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Okemah, with Elder Hershel Moore officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Okemah. Memorials may be made to Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 124 N. 9th St., Okemah Okla., 74859; the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

Willa Marie Branscum was born July 22, 1920, in Mountain View, Ark., the daughter of William Walter and Margaret Jane Payne Branscum. She married William M. "Bill" Prior in Carson, Calif., on July 8, 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church where she was church pianist, taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary. She moved from Oklahoma City to Okemah in 1980.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Prior, of the home, and several nieces and nephews.

John McSwegan

Former area resident John McSwegan of Tulsa died Saturday in a Tulsa hospital at the age of 94.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Williamson Funeral Chapel, Wetumka, with burial at Wetumka Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Molencupp will officiate.

John McSwegan was born May 5, 1904, at Velma to Peter and Laura Dodd McSwegan. He was reared and attended school at Velma. He married Gertrude "Nonnie" Bromley at Ardmore on Dec. 24, 1927. They lived in Ardmore for a few years before moving to Wetumka, where he was parts manager for the Ford garage for more than 30 years. He also was parts manager for Patterson Motor Co. in Shawnee until his retirement in 1974. The couple moved to a Tulsa retirement center in the past year and Mrs. McSwegan preceded him in death on March 4, 1998.

He was a longtime member of the University Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Jack Nicar, Tulsa; two grandchildren and their spouses, Jack and Karen Nicar, Tulsa and Karen and Mike Mullen, Catoosa; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Garrett and Opal Todd; and many other relatives.

Ada Agnus Britt

Ada Agnus Britt of Tahlequah died Sunday in Muskogee.

She was born May 15, 1925, in Hulbert, the daughter of Frank and Viola (Boston) McDonald. She attended school in and was a longtime resident of Cherokee County.

She married Harrison Britt on Oct. 10, 1944, and was a homemaker. She also was dispatcher for Tahlequah Cab for many years. She was of the Holiness faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Alvin McDonald.

Surviving are her husband, Harrison Britt, of the home; two brothers, James McDonald, Tulsa, and Charles Boston, Earlsboro; sister, Rosa McDonald, Coweta; and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reed-Culver Funeral Home Chapel, Tahlequah, with the Rev. Andy Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Hulbert IOOF Cemetery.

Raymond Keith Foster

Raymond Keith Foster died Sunday in Stroud at the age of 33.

He was born July 27, 1965, in Chandler, the son of Reed and Anna Mae (Danker) Foster. He married Carol Wilson on Jan. 16, 1993, in Chandler. He was employed by Sherwood Construction Co. of Wichita, Kan., as a heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Foster, of the home; stepchildren, Johnny Ray Hensley and Christi Lynn Hensley, both of Chandler; a stepgranddaughter, Persephone Chantel Hensley, Chandler; father, Reed Foster, Guthrie; brothers, Stephen Foster, Carney, and Luther Foster, Stillwater; sisters, Brenda Clark, Carney, and Barbara Van Horn, Perkins; and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Chandler with the Rev. Hugh Willoby officiating. Burial will be at Rossville Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler.

Lois Price

Former Okemah resident Lois Price died Sunday in Broken Arrow. She was 85.

Price was born July 6, 1913, in Stigler to William Dennis Warlick and Minnie Josephine Schuster. She married Kenneth LeRoy Price on Sept. 25, 1937.

Price had worked as a dental assistant and nurse. She was an LPN and was supervisor of nursing at Okemah Pioneer Nursing Home until she retired in the 1970s. She was a member of the First Christian Church and had been a longtime resident of Okemah before she moved to Broken Arrow.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 20, 1982; six brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Gerry Lynn Price, Broken Arrow; three grandchildren, Jenny Lynn Price, Oklahoma City, Brian Keith Price and Curtis Anthony Price, both of Broken Arrow; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, with Rev. Edward Cooper officiating.

Bedie Montgomery Smith

Lifelong Okfuskee County resident Bedie Montgomery Smith died Sunday in an Okemah hospital. She was 79.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at the Church of Christ in Okemah with Billy Green officiating and Roger Thompson assisting. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

She was born Oct. 26, 1919, in the Buckeye community west of Okemah, the daughter of Alanzo J. and Ora B. Morgan Montgomery. On Jan. 15, 1942, she married R.T. Smith Jr. at the First Christian Church in Chandler. She was a graduate of East Central State University in Ada and taught at Banner School. She served as assistant librarian at Okemah Public Library for several years and retired from the Department of Human Services after 18 years of service.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Okemah and Sunrise Extension Club.

Surviving are her husband, R.T. Smith Jr., of the home in Okemah; two brothers, Claud Montgomery, Exeter, Calif., and Ira Montgomery, Okemah; and two sisters, Viola Callison, Okemah, and Irene Bond, Tulsa.

James A. Stone
James A. Stone, 57, died Thursday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Connell officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Orin Franklin Shaw
Orin Franklin "Bud" Shaw, 69, of Meeker died Wednesday in Shawnee.

He was born March 28, 1933, in Shawnee, the son of Robert E. and Loata B. (Batt) Shaw.

Shaw was a resident of Meeker all of his life. He graduated form Meeker High School in 1951. He served as Lincoln County District 3 commissioner for 12 years, from 1966-78. He was retired from a position at Tinker Air Force Base.

He served for several years on the Lincoln County Soil Conservation Board and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Meeker. He was a 32nd degree Mason and served on the board of directors of the Meeker Historical Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronelle Shaw.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Tammie Shaw of Lynchburg, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jay Stringer of Meeker; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Frankia and Leeman Story of Meeker and LaDonna and Bill Welborn of Meeker; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Shaw of Meeker; four grandchildren, Amber Stringer of Meeker, Lacey Shaw of Rockwall, Texas, and Callie and Kolton Shaw, both of Lynchburg; friends Terry and Tricia Ford of Tryon; three nieces; three nephews; and other relatives and friends.

A service will be 2 p.m. today in the Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen White officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Meeker. Viewing and visitation will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker until noon today.

Arrangements are being handled by Parks Brothers Funeral Service.

Emma Kinsey

Emma Kinsey of Tecumseh died Wednesday. She was 90.

She was born Aug. 23, 1908, in Johnson County to William Newton and Addie (Moran) Overstreet. She attended grade school at Eli Chapel near Tishomingo and High School at Cobb.

She was reared in the Tishomingo area and lived in the Norman area for 35 years and had lived in Tecumseh since 1977.

On Aug. 21, 1925, she married Robert M. Kinsey in Tishomingo. She worked as a nurses' aid at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman before retiring in 1973.

She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for 67 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974; her parents, one daughter, Norma Jean Kinsey; one son, Bobby Kinsey; and two grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Kinsey, and Jerry Kinsey, both of Tecumseh; two daughters, Patsy Meyer, and Mildred York, both of Norman; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday at Brown Cemetery with Elder Glenn Rooker of Primitive Baptist Church officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
