Ora Alice (Hopper) Glover

Ora Alice (Hopper) Glover of Maud died Monday at her winter home in Ocean Springs, Miss. She was 65.

She was born in Sapulpa on Dec. 1, 1933, to Farris Derward Hopper and Juanita Catherine (Slaybaugh) Hopper.

She lived in Maud since 1966, moving to Maud from Burkburnett, Texas, where the Glover family lived for a short time, moving there from Topeka, Kan.

She married Bobby Ray Glover on July 3, 1950, in DeQueen, Ark. He preceded her in death June 22, 1992.

She worked for Goss Dry Goods in Maud for several years before working at Carlton's IGA in Seminole. In March 1973, she began working at the Citizens State Bank in Maud, and continued to work for The Bank, N.A. until September 1998.

She was a member of the B.P.O.E. Ladies Auxiliary Lodge No. 2501 in Ocean Springs, Miss., and was a member of the Maud Historical Society.

Also preceding her in death were her father, Farris Hopper in 1964; brother Raymond Hopper in 1956, and great-grandson Eric Roberts on May 31, 1995.

Surviving are her mother, Juanita Hopper of Maud; a son and daughter-in-law, Herb and Barbara Glover of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Terry Renfro of Maud; seven grandchildren, Cam Glover Thorne, Joanny Ray Glover, Sandy Glover, and Shelly Glover Spiers, all of Ocean Springs, Miss.; Dawnda Renfro Roberts of Fort Polk, La.; Toby Wade and Dillon Ray Renfro, both of Maud; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Thorne of Ocean Springs, Miss.; Kayla and Tori Roberts of Fort Polk, La.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Mary Hopper of Maud; Charles and Shirley Hopper of Maud; Joe and Julie Hopper of Pleasant Grove; Wilford and Aima Ruth Hopper of Pink; John and Doris Hopper of Maud; sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Ted Phillips of Maud; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends in Maud and Ocean Springs, Miss.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial is at Cummings Cemetery in Maud. Arrangements are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home in Maud.

Richard Waterman McDuff

Richard Waterman "Dick" McDuff died March 19 at the Veterans Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was 73.

He was born in Shreveport, La., Nov. 28, 1926, to Fred and Lorraine McDuff.

He was an actor, singer, and radio announcer. His career began in Shawnee at KGFF radio station as an announcer. Later, he moved to Greenwich Village in New York, living and working in the entertainment field for many years on stage.

Later, in Dallas, he had his own television show, singing and playing host to well-known acting and singing personalities.

Her served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, returning to the entertainment field upon his discharge from the Navy.

He married and had two children.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred and Lorraine McDuff.

Surviving are his son, Ricky McDuff and daughter Shelley Myers; sister, Jean Baugh of Oklahoma City; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred Preston McDuff and Sandra Grace McDuff of Shawnee; and cousins, Charlie and Virginia McDuff of Norman.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 2412 Little York Road in Houston, Texas.

Irvin W. Burrough
Shawnee resident Irvin W. "Wally" Burrough, 81, died Wednesday at an Oklahoma City hospital.
A prayer service will be 7 p.m. at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Deloris Ruth Schmidt

Chandler resident Deloris Ruth Schmidt died Tuesday in Stroud at the age of 70.

She was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Carney, the daughter of Noah and Della (Sadler) Hackworth. She had worked in the restaurant industry and was a member of Bible Temple Pentecostal Church of Shawnee.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Gene Schmidt, Dennis Schmidt, both of Shawnee; two daughters, Margaret Leonard, Shawnee; Diana Ring, Meeker; brothers, Donald Hackworth, Chandler; Hank Hackworth, Carney; sisters, Ina Boling, Arkansas; Lena Cyprt, Stillwater; Reva Martin, Pauline Tyler, both of Chandler; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many other relatives.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Carney Cemetery with the Rev. Guy Cagle officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler.

Ludie Jane Cunningham

Ludie Jane Cunningham, Tishomingo, died Tuesday at the age of 74.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Clark Funeral Chapel, Tishomingo, with the Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Burial will be at Caddo Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, Jay Cunningham, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Daryl McKeown, Muskogee; Sue Ann and Roger Clark, Tishomingo; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Ann M. Crow

Former Oklahoma resident Ann M. Crow, Breese, Ill., died Monday. She was 44.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at South Park Baptist Church of Moore with burial at Tecumseh Cemetery. The Rev. Leon Wilson and the Rev. Paul Box will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel of Tecumseh.

Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. at the church.

She was born Nov. 2, 1954, in Oklahoma City to Volney and Hazel (Goodmiller) Horton. She was a graduate of Northwest Classen High School and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

She married John Randy "J.R." Crow in Moore on May 22, 1976. She was a teacher's aide at Breese-Beckemeyer Schools in Illinois and was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship in Breese.

Survivors include her husband, John Randy "J.R." Crow, and daughters, Rebecca and Rachel Crow, all of the home; her parents, Volney and Hazel Horton, Oklahoma City; brother, Gene Horton, Oklahoma City; sister, Mary Daugherty, Oklahoma City; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Virginia Crow, Moore, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Dorothy Crow, Tecumseh, and Donald and Dee Crow, Moore.

Memorials may be made to Home Missions or to the American Cancer Society.

Debbie Jones

Debbie Jones died Saturday after a battle with polymyositis. She was 45.

She was born Dec. 2, 1953, in Long Beach, Calif., and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1972. She resided in Yukon most of her adult life.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Mike Jones; two children, Amy and Ashley; her parents, Bea and Jack Beeson, Yukon; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ted and Bonnie Jones, Earlsboro; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanette "Jackie" Bennett, Mustang, Susan and Randy Goodman, Choctaw, and Pam and Brian Massey, Axminster, England; brother, Jerry Beeson, Tecumseh, and many other relatives.

Services were Tuesday at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home in Oklahoma City with burial at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.

Argie B. Lewis

Argie B. (Burrahm) Lewis, Eugene, Ore., died Feb. 10 in Eugene, Ore. She was 81.

Mrs. Lewis was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Meeker to Clint and Loma Burrahm.

Survivors include her daughters, Yvonne Chamblee, Odessa, Texas; Linda Patterson, Eugene, Ore.; Carla Disher, Harrisburg, Oregon; brother, Quentin Burrahm, Shawnee; sisters, Maxine Ramsdale, Eugene, Ore.; JoAnn Hollis, Hydro; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Loma Burrahm; her father, Clint Burrahm; and two brothers, Tolbert and Walter Burrahm.

Services were 2 p.m. Feb. 12 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Eugene, Ore., with Pastor Bobby Nott officiating.

Arthur C. Treat

Shawnee resident Arthur C. Treat died Sunday at a local nursing home. He was 89.

Treat was born Feb. 26, 1910, in Shawnee to William and Amanda Treat. He married Winnie Bugg in Tecumseh.

He was reared and attended schools in Shawnee and was a dairy farmer.

Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Love, Shawnee, and Loretta Jones, Midwest City; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Leoma Spear, Shawnee; brothers, J.C. Treat and Raymond Treat, both of Shawnee; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Sept. 12, 1994; son, Don Treat; four brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harvey Spear officiating. Burial will be in Blackburn Chapel Cemetery.

Marjorie Louise Cooper

McLoud resident Marjorie Louise Cooper died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 79.

Mrs. Cooper was born May 7, 1920, in Crowley County, Colo., to John and Lola See. She married Paul C. Cooper on Jan. 30, 1944, in Neosho, Mo.

She moved from eastern Colorado to Kansas and then to Missouri, where she graduated from Stella High School. She received her teaching credentials from Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, Mo.

She taught school for several years. She and her husband farmed the Ames community for 30 years before retiring to McLoud in 1984.

She was a member of Dale Church of Christ, McLoud Senior Citizens, the McLoud chapter of AARP, where she was treasurer, and held the membership chair of the McLoud Friends of the Library.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Louise and Ron Maynard, Burnsville, Minn., and Janice and John Stotts, McLoud; son, Danny Cooper, Oklahoma City; sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Vicki Cooper, Lubbock, Texas, and Eddie and Carol Cooper, Drummond; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Aug. 14, 1986; and a brother.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Dale Church of Christ with Dewayne Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery in Ames, Okla. at 3 p.m. under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Nathan William Vanpool

Nathan William Vanpool died Sunday in Oklahoma City. He was 4 months old.

He was born Jan. 5, 1999, to Davies and Julie (Kinder) Vanpool.

Surviving are his parents, Davies and Julie Vanpool of Carney; a brother, Grant Davies Vanpool of the home; grandparents, Jim and Ann Kinder of Carney; and Darrell and Paula Vanpool of Miami, Okla.; great-grandparents, Minnie Martin of Tryon, Okla.; Pauline Phillips of Miami; and George and Fern Vanpool of Miami.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Carney with the Rev. Bobby Lipscomb officiating.

Burial will follow at the Carney Cemetery under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Marie H. Jones

Marie H. Jones died Saturday at a Amarillo hospital. She was 99.

She was born Jan. 25, 1900, in Monmouth, Ill. She was the eldest daughter of Horace James Hodgson and Georgia Ann Hodgson. In May of 1920, she married Carroll Wesley "Cap" Jones at Castle. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1938. She moved to Okemah and was a longtime member of the First Christian Church. She served for many years as a deputy in the county treasurer's office, and during the war, worked in the Okemah Post Office. She moved from Okemah about 20 years ago and was a resident of Amarillo, Texas, at the time of her death.

Her oldest son, Mack, was killed on Feb. 28, 1942, in an Army plane crash while serving as an aviation cadet. He was the first casualty of World War II whose body was returned to Okemah for burial.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, William Lloyd "Bill" and Betty Mae Jones of Irving, Texas and Raymond Brown "Ray B." and Evelyn Jones of Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Paul James Hodgson of California; one sister, Gaila Hodgson Wenthe of Shawnee; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Okemah with Pastor Will Eads officiating. Burial was at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.
