Marie (Linduff) Floyd Hughes

Marie (Linduff) Floyd Hughes of Texas City, Texas, died Friday in Texas City. She was 64.

Mrs. Hughes was born April 22, 1935, in Tecumseh to Roy "Jack" and Margaret (Ramp) Linduff.

In 1952, she married Charles Floyd. He preceded her in death in 1953. She married Joe P. Hughes on July 9, 1955, in Tecumseh.

She attended school in Tecumseh and was a homemaker. In 1968, she moved with her husband to Pasadena, Texas.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Leslie Davenport of Pasadena, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Shirley Hughes of Houston, Texas; sons, Jerry Hughes of Pasadena, Texas, and Phillip Floyd of Seminole; grandchildren, Christopher, Wesley and Chad Hughes; Larry and JoAnn Denning; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Joy Linduff; Don and Louise Linduff; and Troy and June Linduff; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and her second husband, Joe P. Hughes on July 15, 1986.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Nolen of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Bertie M. Burton

Former Wanette resident Bertie M. Burton of Del City died Saturday. She was 94.

Services are 2 p.m. today at the Wanette Church of Christ.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Chapel, Del City.

William Carl Sexton

William Carl Sexton died Sunday at a Tulsa hospital. He was 78.

He was born May 25, 1920, in Tulsa to William Sexton and Jennie McCloud Sexton. On Dec. 30, 1946, he married Johnnie Finke in Independence, Kan. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day and the Masonic Lodge. He was a painting contractor and was living in Tulsa at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Johnnie Sexton of Tulsa, two sons, Jonathan Sexton of Broken Arrow and Micah David Sexton of Cushing; one daughter, Carla Ehlers of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren, Jonathan Sexton Jr., Joshua Sexton and Abby Sexton.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery Gazebo with the Rev. Ken Farham officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

Leo P. Stonis

Former Shawnee resident Leo P. Stonis died Wednesday.

He was born May 12, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., to Stanley and Barbara (Ademitis) Stonis.

Stonis was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He lived in Shawnee during World War II, stationed at a Navy base near the Oklahoma Baptist University campus. He attained the rank of lieutenant. He also served as a blimp pilot.

He graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 1950 with a bachelor of science degree in geology. He was active in the oil and gas industry until his retirement. From 1950 to 1961, he worked for Superior Oil Company as a geologist and was the district geologist from 1958 to 1961.

From 1961 to 1968, he was with J.M. Huber Corporation and in 1968, he joined Eason Oil Co. and was vice president of exploration until his retirement in 1982. He became a consultant and adviser for Lario Oil and Gas Co., and again retired in 1985.

He was a member of Crown Heights United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Lola B.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Karen L. and Robert O. Holleron of Cameron Park, Calif.; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Angel R. and Mark Louie of San Francisco, Calif.; grandson, R. Matthew Holleron of Woodland, Calif.; sister Anne Mitchell of Janesville, Wis.; sister-in-law, Dorotha Presley of Shawnee; nephew and niece-in-law, Jerry and Beth Presley of Shawnee.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill Burial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.

Henry John Groverman III

Henry John Groverman III of Harrah died Friday in Beaumont, Texas. He was 50.

He was born Oct. 8, 1948, in Georgetown, S.C., to Henry John Groverman II and Mary Todd Adams. He was superintendent of American Kennel Club shows, working for the Jack Onofrio shows.

He married Linda Lou Ramsey on March 5, 1974, in Oklahoma City.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Lou; his daughters and sons-in-law, Shi Ann and Bill Ingalls and Tuli Roxanne and Gary Berryhill, all of Harrah; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Frank Way of Moncks Corner, S.C.; two grandchildren, Amanda Ingalls and Alex Matson; two nephews, Matt Way of South Carolina and Bart Way of Florida.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with burial in Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah. A memorial service will be conducted in Georgetown, S.C., at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Home of Harrah.

Mary Lou Parsons

Mary Lou Parsons died Saturday in Stroud. She was 101.

She was born Dec. 17, 1897, in Bentonville, Ark., to Richard and Martha (Henson) Webb. She had lived in the Stroud area most of her life. She worked at the Rock Cafe from 1943 until her retirement. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Stroud.

She married Lee H. Parsons in Okemah on Jan. 10, 1911, and they had six children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lee, two brothers, and four sisters.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Leroy and Evelyn Parson of Olympia, Wash., Vernon and Martha Parsons of Stroud and Bill and Glynis Parsons of Lewisville, Texas; three daughters and one son-in-law, Helen and Garland Howell of Stroud, Juanita Morris of Stroud and Bernice Riggs of Stroud; two brothers, Hiram Webb of Prague and Lesie Webb of Shelton, Wash.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be a 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God Church of Stroud with the Rev. Don Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Funeral Home of Stroud.

Iva Nutt

Iva Nutt died Sunday in Bristow. She was 88.

She was born Aug. 31, 1910, in Caddo Gap, Ark., to Elisha and Lizzie (Pate) Brooks. She was a resident of Paden, formerly of California and Arkansas. She was of the Holiness faith and worked at the Uba City Laundry in Uba City, Calif.

She married Joe Alvin Nutt on July 24, 1935, in Amity, Ark. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1970. She also was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and June Nutt of Paden; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Bobby Dearman of Uba City, Emma and Henry Cooper of Prague and Shirley and Marvin George of McLoud; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Paden Cemetery with Brother Paul Heard officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Frank Fisher

Frank Fisher died Sunday in Tulsa. He was 88.

He was born July 4, 1910, in the Aydelotte Community in Pottawatomie County to William Robert and Rosa (Bouda) Fisher. He owned and operated the Prague Ice Co. for 33 years and retired in 1969.

He was a member of the WFLA Lodge in Prague.

He married Ollie Bell McAdams on July 15, 1938, in Stroud. She preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 1987. He also was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Roy Prevett of Richardson, Texas, and Joan and Ed Thorsen of Prague; three sisters, Blanche Sestak, Oklahoma City, Elizabeth Kolar of Prague and Irene Pryor of Norman; four grandchildren, Lisa Schwartz, Anita Brown, Michael Thorsen and Judith Stack; and two great-grandchildren, Codi Brown and David Schwartz.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. George Carson officiating. Burial will be in Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Delbert "Del" Eugene Goss

Former Shawnee resident Delbert "Del" Eugene Goss of Oklahoma City died Thursday. He was 57.

He was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Happy, Texas, to Ben Eliah and Helen (Booker) Goss. He attended U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City.

On Aug. 21, 1972 he married Evelyn Hembree in Tulia, Texas.

In 1953, he moved to Oklahoma City with his family, and had lived in Shawnee for the last 30 years.

He was a self-employed carpenter, beginning at a young age with his father.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ben E. Goss in 1980.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn of the home; three stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Willie and JoAnne Newman of Okmulgee, Johnny Newman of Okmulgee and Tony and Lisa Newman of Oklahoma City; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Marie and Robert Rogers of Dibble and Sandy and Billy Bowman of Tecumseh; his mother, Helen M. Goss of Tuttle; two sisters, June Grey of Whitesboro and Doris Henderson of Tuttle; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two uncles, James Booker and Roy Booker, both of Purcell; and aunt, Savada Todd of Purcell.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Parker of Sharon Baptist Church of Oklahoma City officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Noah Kirkpatrick Fish Jr.

Del City resident Noah Kirkpatrick Fish Jr. died from injuries suffered in the May 3 tornado. He was 67.

Fish was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Holdenville to Noah K. Fish Sr. and Elizabeth (Coker) Fish.

He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and a Mason. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a bachelor's degree. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1972 after 21 years of service, including service in Vietnam. He also retired from the Indian Health Service.

Survivors include three daughters, Chelsea Fish of the home, Teresa Longhorn of Shawnee and Stacy Van Vliet, Rosehill, Calif.; son, Noah K. Fish III, Rosehill.; eight grandchildren, Gabriel, Stuart and Lindsey Longhorn, all of Shawnee, Patrick and Amber Fish and Rebekah, Megan and Donald Van Vliet, all of Rosehill, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Chasity and Gabriel Longhorn, Shawnee; sister, Exie Fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice Fish; and sister, Shirley Fish.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Glorita Baptist Church. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Glorieta Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.

Mike Fowler

Mike Fowler, 56, died Thursday in Lubbock, Texas.

He was born Sept. 11, 1944, in Lubbock, the son of the late J.C. and Laska Monroe Fowler.

He graduated from Anton High School in 1963. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1967 with a bachelor's degree in finance and business administration.

Fowler and Sandi Berrier were married on Feb. 24, 1973, in Lubbock.

He was senior vice president of Lubbock National Bank.

He was a member of Leadership Lubbock-Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, United Way Volunteer Program Review and Funding Committee, Meals on Wheels volunteers, Urban Renewal Agency-Community Redevelopment and Retail Merchange Board Member. He was also a member of Lakeridge United Methodist Church.

His brother, Doug Fowler, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, of Lubbock; son, Michael Fowler of Arlington, Texas; daughters, Susan Leist of Fort Worth, Texas, and J'Ann Fowler of Dallas, Texas, and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home, Lubbock.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Abbey Chapel in Lubbock. Johnny Irish, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport, Texas, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home, Lubbock.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Lubbock, 2303 34th St., Lubbock TX 79411.
