Paul Boyd Sangster

Former Earlsboro resident Paul Boyd Sangster died Saturday in Skellytown, Texas, at the age of 69.

Services were Monday at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa, Texas, with the Rev. Robert Kelley officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery with rites performed by members of ISOM Masonic Lodge 1242 AF&AM.

Paul Boyd Sangster was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Earlsboro and married Darline Cother Lorenzen in Hugo on Sept. 23, 1978. He had lived in Borger, Texas, and moved to Skellytown in 1953.

He owned and operated J&P Construction and P.B. Sangster Electric and retired in 1991. He was a member of ISOM Masonic Lodge 1242 AF&AM in Borger and the Scottish Rite in El Paso. He also had served in the armed forces.

Preceding him in death were his parents, twin daughters, and a sister, Monnie Hicks.

Surviving are his wife, Darline Sangster, of the home; son, Joe W. Sangster, Texline, Texas; three daughters, Carla Gifford, Lefors, Texas, Margie Elaine McLarty, Seymour, Texas, and Diana Bruner, Pampa, Texas; stepson, Steven Lorenzen, Richardson, Texas; three brothers, Olin Sangster and Houston Sangster, both of Earlsboro, and James Eugene Sangster, Hugo; sister, Lila Weaver, Tecumseh; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial fund established for Warthen

A memorial fund in the name of George Allen Warthen has been established at First National Bank, 130 E. MacArthur.

A longtime Shawnee resident, Mr. Warthen died Saturday at a local hospital. He was 82. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Pauline J. Patterson Carroll
Pauline J. Patterson Carroll, 83, of Earlsboro died Sunday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Survivors include a sister, Calleen Chew of Fresno, Calif.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Burial is at Garland Cemetery in Stigler.

Arrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home.

Harold Keisling Jr.

Tecumseh resident Harold Keisling Jr., 73, died Sunday in Tecumseh.

He was born March 20, 1929, in Shawnee, the son of Harold Sr. and Osie (Northcutt) Keisling.

He was a lifelong Tecumseh resident. He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1948 and attended East Central University for a year and a half. He married Hazel Steiner in Shawnee on June 16, 1977.

Keisling worked for the civil service at Tinker Air Force Base. He was a Little League baseball coach. He and his grandchildren were active in showing Texas Longhorn cattle, and he was voted Texas Longhorn Cattle Breeders of Tomorrow "Grandparent of the Year" in 1990.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Chris Keisling.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Keisling, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Ginger Keisling of Tecumseh, Michael and Nancy Hailey of Shawnee and Tim and Terri Hailey of Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia and Danny Kesterson of Macomb, Marie and Charles Vloedman of Oklahoma City and Pati Hailey of Raytown, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and relatives.

Services are 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Tecumseh with Dr. Tim Walker officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

The family has designated the J.D. McCarty Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities, 1125 Alameda St., Norman, OK 73071, as appropriate for memorials.

Wilbur "Bill" Clem Higley Jr.
Wilbur "Bill" Clem Higley Jr., 68, of Irving, Texas, died April 10 at his home.

He was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Shawnee to W.C. Higley and Pauline M. Higley.

He attended Shawnee High School and the University of Texas at Arlington. He was a engineering consultant.

His father preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Donna, of the home; his mother, Pauline M. Higley, Shawnee; three children, Michael P. Higley of Keota, Holly E. Freeman of Oklahoma City, and Gregory L. Higley of Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren; two sisters, Ellen M. Higley Esquilin of Kansas City, Mo., and Ann M. Dowdy, Shawnee.

Memorial services were held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his mother and sister. Jeff Burress officiated.

Louis Loeffler III

Louis Loeffler III, beloved local physician, husband and father, died in a farm accident on his property on July 14, 2002. He was born April 22, 1946 in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1964. He loved scouting and attained the level of Eagle Scout. He graduated from OSU with honors in 1968 in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He went on to get his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore in 1973. He graduated from OU medical school in 1976. Beginning in 1977 until the present, he worked in the emergency department at Unity Health Center, North Campus (formerly known as Shawnee Regional Hospital.)
Louis is survived by his wife, the former Christine Beer, whom he married on June 14, 1981. Born to the Loefflers were daughters, Jessie in 1984 and Katherine in 1993. He is also survived by his parents, Dorris and Louis Loeffler, Jr. of Oklahoma City, sisters Dr. Diana Loeffler of Phoenix, AZ and Patsy Driskill of Houston, TX and brother Alan Loeffler of Oklahoma City. He left behind many nieces and nephews who will always remember Uncle Lou. He will also be missed by the many friends, neighbors, patients, and coworkers whose lives he touched.
He loved his farm, duck hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He walked down his lane at night with Chris and went sledding and boating with his daughters. His nephews enjoyed special times camping and fishing with him. His farm shows evidence of his loving care everywhere.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Baptist Church in Earlsboro with Rev. Richard Stillwell and Rev. Jon Vincent, officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 17 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 210 West Walnut Street in Tecumseh. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Unity Health Center Volunteer Program for the ER or Ducks Unlimited are suggested.

Bob R. Crouch

Tecumseh sculptor and aviator Bob R. Crouch, 83, died Tuesday in Tecumseh.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Earnest Strong and Al Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

He was born May 5, 1915, in Byars, Okla., the son of Flave "Sade" and Lydia (Smith) Crouch.

On Aug. 12, 1939, he married Kathryn J. Williams in Byars. He lived his life in Oklahoma.

Crouch was a flight engineer on B-29s during World War II and was a pilot. He also was a sculptor, master dental technician and real estate agent.

Crouch was a member of the Tecumseh Masonic Lodge No. 69 AF&AM and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason at the McAlester Consistory. He was a member of Tecumseh IOOF Lodge No. 62.

He served the community for 19 years on the Tecumseh City Council, was president of the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce and served 12 years on the board of directors of the Tecumseh Bank and the Civil Air Patrol.

Crouch was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Waylan and Orb Crouch.

Crouch is survived by his wife of the home; son, Bobby Ray Crouch Jr. of Tecumseh; daughters and sons-in-law, June and Paul Liles of Shawnee and Vonda and Gene Straughan of Tecumseh; grandchildren, David Liles, Dana Liles Smith, Holly, Anna Lisa, John, Susan, Michael and Emily Crouch, Melissa Straughan McCune, Patrick Straughan and Amy Straughan Schimmel; great-grandchildren, Josh, Cody and Logan Liles, Ashley, Kyle and Jeremy Smith and Brock and Brea Sisney; sister, Edith Lee of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Ruth Crouch of Brooken, Okla.; nephew, Ronnie Crouch of Porum, Okla.; and nieces, Jannita Hollingshead of Brooken and Rita Lee of Oklahoma City.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Research, NeuroScience Institute at Mercy Hospital, 4300 W. Memorial Rd., Oklahoma City, Okla., 73120.

Fred Mayfield

Longtime Paden resident Fred Mayfield died Monday in Prague. He was 74 years old.

Mayfield was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Paden, the son of Frank and Margaret Matilda "Maggie" (Maynard) Mayfield.

He worked as pumper in the oil fields.

On Oct. 4, 1944, he married Hazel Davenport in Paden. He was a member of the Midway Church of Christ, Paden.

Mayfield was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harmon Mayfield.

He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter, Sherry Davis of Paden; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Vernita Mayfield, Harvey and Dorothy Mayfield, Vester and Opal Mayfield and Gene and Sue Mayfield, all of Paden; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and G.W. Coward of Sallisaw and Dorothy and Paul Heard and Katie and Morris Brown, all of Paden; two grandchildren, Lisa Sanford of Lawton and Taloah Davis of Paden; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Calvin and September Bottoms.

Funeral services will be10 a.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague, with Ronald and Bobby Massey officiating. Burial will follow in the Paden Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Ruby Dean Simmons-Creagh

Ruby Dean Simmons-Creagh, Noble, died Saturday at her home.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Noble United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Langston officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mike DeMoss. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. at Prague Cemetery under the direction of McMahans Funeral Home of Noble.

She was a member of Nobel United Methodist Church for more than 20 years and was active in volunteer work.

Preceding her in death were her parents, W. Dean and Ollie (Janes) White.

Survivors include her husband, John Creagh, Noble; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Ephraim Lobaugh, Norman; grandchildren, Marty and James Lell, Washington; James Lewis, Norman; three great-grandchildren; brother, Thad White, Paden; sister, Willie McCaul, Enid, and many other relatives.

Betty Jo Nolen

Betty Jo Nolen, 72, Shawnee, died Monday in Oklahoma City.

Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Central Church of Christ, 10th and Bell. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Other arrangements are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Delmer Loyd Wood

Former Seminole resident Delmer Loyd Wood of Oklahoma City died Sunday in a Norman hospital. He was 81.

He was born Feb. 3, 1917, in Lawrenceville, Ill., to Harvey Britton Wood and Aimee (Bailey) Wood. He married Neva Irene Dillon in Seminole on Dec. 24, 1936, and was an oil field worker.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been a longtime Seminole resident. He was a member of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Neva Wood, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald L. and Linda Wood, Mena, Ark.; Darrell W. and Priscilla Wood, Cedar Hill, Texas; Charles D. and Judy Wood, Moore; Donald E. and Lee Wood, Perrysburg, Ohio; two brothers, Leslie Wood, Plano, Texas; Roger Wood, Tulsa; sister, Martha Lyle, Midland, Texas, 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole with the Rev. Jim White officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Eva Annie Bradford

Former Shawnee resident Eva Annie Bradford of Oklahoma City died Monday at the age of 83.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Goins officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

She was born May 25, 1915, in Dover, Ark., the daughter of Harrison and Minnie Mae (Reynolds) Linker. She married Raymond Allen Bradford in Russellville, Ark., on Sept. 13, 1938, and was a homemaker.

The family moved from Russellville to Shawnee in 1952 and Mrs. Bradford worked for a time at Harps Green Valley Farms. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a past member of VFW Ladies' Auxiliary. She had moved to care centers in Oklahoma City in 1993.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; her sister, Mary Wilson, and two brothers, George and Alvis Linker.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond L. and Betty Bradford, Tuttle; Bob D. and Leona Bradford, Shawnee; grandchildren, Paul and Amanda Bradford, Tuttle; Jamie Bradford, Oklahoma City; two great-grandsons; brother, Elzia Linker, Springdale, Ark., and sister, Della Hiller, Fresno, Calif.

Johnny McRube Long

Johnny McRube Long, 50, Chandler, died Monday in Oklahoma City.

Services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Auditorium, 515 Steele Ave., Chandler, with the Rev. Anthony Walker officiating.

Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Nov. 12, 1948, in Chandler to Lee and Leota (Andrews) Long. His parents preceded him in death, as did one sister, Leola (Long) Albreta.

Long was a truck driver.

Survivors include a son, Kyle Ward, Chandler; six brothers, Adolph Long, Alonzo Long, Elmcrece Long and Eugene Long, all of Oklahoma City; Curtis Long, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Troy Long, Spencer; and Joe Long, Chandler; four sisters, Margarene Johnson, Maxine Lacy, Delois Lane and Naomi Long, all of Oklahoma City.
