Willard J. Jacques

Willard J. "Buster" Jacques, 78, Shawnee, died Friday at his home.

Services are set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malen, Mo., with John Chadwell officiating.

Burial is set for 9 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Kennett, Mo., to Claude and Reva (Lincoln) Jacques and was married to Anita A. Hodges on Aug. 5, 1948, at Peggott, Ark.

Jacques retired from the military after 23 years of service in the U.S. Air Force and worked for seven years in civil service. He was a chief master sergeant, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Anita A. Jacques, Shawnee; three daughters, Renee DeCicco and Beverly Sutton, both of Oklahoma City, and Diana Lawler, Tulsa; two brothers; four sisters, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carla Lee Jacques; and two brothers.

Joyce Marie Snodgrass

Lifelong Seminole resident Joyce Marie Snodgrass died Sunday at her home at the age of 68.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Maple Grove Chapel with the Rev. Allen Wood officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole.

She was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Wewoka to James Ray Snodgrass and Erma (Grogg) Turner. She was a 1947 graduate of Seminole High School. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church, Seminole.

Her father preceded her in death.

Surviving are her mother, Erma Turner, Seminole, and her sister, Billie Smith, Seminole.

Francis McQueeney

Francis "Frank" McQueeney, 85, Shawnee, died Monday at his home.

A vigil will be 7 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with mass of the Christian burial set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Celebrant will be the Rev. Charles Massoth, O.S.B., and burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

He was born March 20, 1913, in Mt. Alton, Pa., to John and Sarah McQueeney and was educated at St. Bernard's Catholic School in Bradford, Pa., and Clarion State University in Clarion, Pa.

McQueeney was married April 20, 1935, in Limestone, N.Y. to Maxine Lyons, who preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1998.

After their marriage, they lived in Bolivar, N.Y., and moved to Shawnee in 1953.

McQueeney worked for 40 years with Bradley Producing Inc./Mapco Inc. of Tulsa, specializing in new expirations and water development work nationally and internationally.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Marie McQueeney, Shawnee, two grandchildren and spouses, Stephanie and David Morgan, Yukon, and Michelle and Dave Gau, Oklahoma City; three great-grandchildren, Jaycee, Taylor and Sarah Morgan, all of Yukon; two brothers, Robert McQueeney, Lewis Run, Pa., and Patrick McQueeney, Utica, N.Y.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Francis McQueeney; one brother and three sisters.

Laura Rhodd

Lifelong Shawnee resident Laura Rhodd died Thursday in a local hospital. She was 76.

She was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Meeker to Arthur and Ethel Mack. She was raised in Shawnee and had lived here all her life.

She married Alden A. Rhodd in 1952.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, six brothers and one sister.

Surviving are her son, Alden Rhodd, Seminole; five daughters, Dorothy Geionety, of the home; Connie Rhodd, Davenport; Mary Estes, Cushing; Marilyn Tiger, Shawnee; Shawne Onco, Norman; 16 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda M. Slick, Shawnee, and one brother, Anthony M. Mack, Shawnee.

Tribal services will be this evening at the Carol Patterson home. Graveside service will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Wakolee Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Margaret Estel Lane

Margaret Estel Lane, Shawnee, died Tuesday in a local nursing home at the age of 91.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 12, 1908, in Lincoln County, the daughter of Phillip and Allienora (Harris) Hauch. She attended Meeker Schools.

She married Charley Lane in Chandler on Dec. 23, 1925, and was a homemaker. She worked at Hamburger King restaurant for 20 years and also worked at Sunset Estates Nursing Home. She was a member of Meeker Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charley Lane, and two brothers, Ohan Hauch and William Hauch.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Elwood and Betty Lane, Stillwater; Boyd and Barbara Lane, Shawnee; Richard and Carol Lane, Tyler, Texas; Vaile and Linda Lane, Oklahoma City; Carlos and Bernice Lane, Norman; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Rachel Keesee Close

Myrtle Rachel Keesee Close, 87, Lexington, died Wednesday at a Norman hospital.

She was born March 25, 1911, in Wanette, the third of 11 children born to Fredrick Charles Lamirand and Sophia Irene Rayfield Lamirand.

She married Oatie Gardner Keesee April 10, 1926, in Wanette. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1952. She had lived in Lexington since 1975.

She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ in Lexington.

Preceding her in death her husbands; her parents; three brothers, David, Elmore and Freddie Lamirand, and two sons, Oatie Gardner Keesee Jr. and Kenneth Keesee.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Coy and Allena Keesee, Alfred and Gayle Keesee, all of Wanette; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and John Curry, Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Ray and Kathy Keesee, Jean and Dale Buckles, Eddie and Becky Keesee, Gail and Donnie Bussell, Shirrell and Jim Turnpaugh, Troy and Jennifer Keesee, Lisa and Brent Hilliard, Don and Rita Keesee, Sherrie and Mark Foreman, Linda and Johnnie Jones, Deborah and Gary Adams, Joseph and Andrea Curry; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Loy and Ann Lamirand, Wanette; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and John Vanschuyver, Evelyn Miller, Serena Lamirand, Mae and Bob Combs, Jean and Hubert Hightower, Linda Dike, Oklahoma City, and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Wilson-Little Funeral Chapel, Purcell, with Ted Burton officiating. Burial will be at Wanette Cemetery.

Mildred Pettigrew

Shawnee resident Mildred (Reding) Pettigrew died Wednesday at a local nursing home. She was 88.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. R. Scott Baird officiating.

Mrs. Pettigrew was born May 13, 1910, in Meeker to Joseph P. Reding and Ruby Liona Percival Hale Reding. She graduated from Meeker High School in 1929 and attended East Central University from 1956 to 1957.

She taught music and speech in Tulsa for 19 years and worked as a substitute teacher for six years before moving to Shawnee 20 years ago.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Shawnee and was a member of the National Education Association, Oklahoma Education Association and American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Eldon and Pat Pettigrew, Kent, Wash.; James Weldon "Jay" and Glenda Pettigrew, Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Judith Kay Tolley, Creve Couer, Mo.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Martin, Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Vernon Hedrick Stone

Former Tecumseh resident Vernon Hedrick Stone, Tucson, Ariz., died Wednesday in Tucson. He was 78.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh, with Bill Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Stone was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Tecumseh to Lewis Hedrick and Anna Millisa (Hodges) Stone. He married Mary C. Withrow on April 5, 1942, in Shawnee.

He graduated from Tecumseh High School and worked as an oil abstractor for Martin Deister in Shawnee and as a regional landman for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 33 years.

A veteran of World War II, Stone served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific.

He had also lived in Billings, Mont., Bartlesville and Evergreen, Colo.. before moving to Arizona 18 years ago. He was a member of the Fountain of Life Lutheran Church in Tucson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Stone, Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Janis S. Stone, Tiburon, Calif.; Beverly M. Stone, Berkeley, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Jan P. Stone, San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren, Chelsea C. Stone and Taylor V. Stone; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Louise Stone, Shidler; nephew, Jerry Bryant, Chandler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mae K. Bryant.

Alma Adeline Latta

Former Seminole resident Alma Adeline Latta of Fort Worth, Texas, died Thursday in Fort Worth. She was 85.

Mrs. Latta was born Feb. 17, 1913, in Ava, Mo., to Robert Jasper Miller and Dora Jane Jones. She married James Kelvie Latta on Oct. 27, 1930, in Wewoka.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Seminole for 70 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Seminole.

Survivors include her two daughters, Betty Joan Nolte, Oklahoma City; Delores Jean Minihan, Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Kenneth K. Jones, Carrolton, Texas; Alisa A. Cruz, Houston, Texas; Terrell D. Jones, Harrah; Kelvie Hamlin, Charma, N.M.; Edward D. Minihan, Fort Worth, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, in February of 1983.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home with the Rev. John Lively and Patrick McCooll, O.S.B. officiating.

The family will accept visitors from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Swearingen Funeral Home.

Paul Mitchell Roberts

Meeker resident Paul Mitchell Roberts died Thursday at his home. He was 52.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Leroy Grubaugh officiating. Burial will be in Neal Cemetery.

Roberts was born Jan. 16, 1947, in San Diego, Calif., to Richard E. and Bonnie N. (Stephens) Roberts. He graduated from San Diego High School in 1964.

He was an apprentice jig and fixture builder and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his father, Richard E. Roberts, Central Point, Ore.; mother, Bonnie N. Roberts, Shawnee; three brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Joyce Roberts, Poway, Calif.; Kenneth and Nancy Roberts, Tucson, Ariz.; and Sam and Melanie Roberts, Shawnee; and one sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Charles Trice, Grand Junction, Colo.

Vesta Pearl Latimer

Ardmore resident Vesta Pearl Latimer died Saturday in Ardmore. She was 85.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday. Location will be announced by Krien Funeral Home, Davis.

Mrs. Latimer was born Aug. 12, 1913, in Wynnewood View on the banks of Wildhorse Creek to John Thomas and Maud (Suttle) Noland. She married O.W. "Mike" Latimer in 1940.

She had lived in the Wynnewood area until she moved to Ardmore five years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hickory Baptist Church where she taught Bible school and Sunday school.

Survivors include her eight children, Carlma Holder, National City, Calif.; Ken Remy and Marilyn Edwards, both of Ardmore; Dennis Latimer and Becky Latimer, both of Oklahoma City; John Mike Latimer, Olympia, Wash.; Sandra Corbett, Thackerville; Steve Latimer, Seagoville, Texas; 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil and Dale Noland, Davis; and two sisters, Ruby Kennedy, Wynnewood; and June Cobb, Shawnee.
