Teresa Sue Hanan

Stroud resident Teresa Sue Hanan died Friday at the age of 40.

She was born Oct. 4, 1958, in Shattuck, the daughter of Bob and Sue (Burns) Hanan.

She moved from Alva to Stroud in 1969 and was a member of the Church of Christ in Stroud, where she taught the children's Sunday school class. She graduated from Stroud High School in 1976.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Ken and Chloe Burns and Ralph and Elsie Hanan.

Survivors include her parents, Bob and Sue Hanan, Stroud; brother and sister-in-law, Mac and Holly Hanan, Seminole; sister and brother-in-law, Tammie and and Richard Thompson, Stroud, and four nieces, Annette Thompson, Oklahoma City; Rachel Thompson, Dakota Thompson, both of Stroud, and Allyson Hanan, Seminole.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Stroud. Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Stroud.

Thomas L. White

Bethel resident Thomas L. White died Saturday in Bethel. He was 66.

White was born April 30, 1933, in Foreman, Ark., to Buman and Florence (Sanders) White. He grew up in the Redland Community east of Idabel. He married Emma J. Bivings on March 19, 1954, in Idabel.

He started his career working for Williams' Brothers Co. of Tulsa and traveled throughout the United States. He later moved to Oklahoma City, where he worked in the home building business, then moved to Shawnee in 1968. He retired from the home building business and was a partner in T.L. White and Associates.

He was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Shawnee, served on the Earlsboro School Board for six years and was a member of the volunteer fire department and Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Emma White, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Len and Denise White and Rickie and Betty White, all of Tecumseh; Tommy and Cindy White, Shawnee; seven grandchildren, Tracy and Charles Pierce, Chad, Emily, Reba, Katie, Joey and Andrew White; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Pierce; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Maurice and Vivian White, Broken Bow; John and Mary White, Redland; Jim White, North Carolina; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Clayton Barber, Bay Town, Texas; Cari and Kenny Mills, Clarksville, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph Steven White and Buck White.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Central Church of Christ with Dwayne Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Association for the Terminally Ill, P.O. Box 368, Shelbyville, Ky., 40065.

Elva Ward

Harrah resident Elva Ward died Saturday. She was 82.

Mrs. Ward was born April 11, 1917, in Wellston to John and Trivilla (Trantham) Lane.

Survivors include her sons, Jim Ward, Harrah; Jack Ward, Shawnee; four daughters, Sue Chapman, Harrah; Geneale Nowakowski, McLoud; Margie Dodd, Oklahoma City; Sandra Richardson, Shawnee; two brothers, George Lane, Del City; Clinton Lane, Thornton, Colo.; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband Floyd, her parents, six brothers and three sisters.

Services were held Monday at First Baptist Church, Harrah. Burial was at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Woodrow Jimboy

Woodrow Jimboy died Saturday in Okmulgee. He was 87.

Jimboy was born Feb. 17, 1913, in Okemah to Wiley Jimboy and Louisa (Berryhill) Jimboy. He married Ella Mae (Manley) Jimboy in 1939 at Okemah.

He had been a dorm supervisor at Oklahoma State University-Tech for 18 years. He attended Creek Chapel Methodist Church and was a 50-year resident of Okmulgee County.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Jimboy, Okmulgee; son, Elmer Jimboy, Okmulgee; daughter, Elaine Jimboy Branch and her husband Don, Tulsa; 11 grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Creek Chapel. Burial will follow at Creek Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Benjamin Franklin Sr.

Benjamin Franklin Sr. died Saturday at Drumright. He was 86.

Franklin was born Oct. 24, 1913, in Avery to Randal and Sarah Ellis Franklin Carter. He lived north of Stroud all his life and married Bernice H. Spooner on April 10, 1036, in Chandler.

He played semi-pro baseball for the Texas League and was also a painter. He was a member of the Only Way Baptist Church, north of Stroud.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice, of the home; two sons, Ronnie Franklin and Ben Franklin Jr., both of Cushing; four daughters, Loretta Big Bow, Yukon; Sharon Little, Shawnee; Beatrice Franklin, Eufaula; Cheryl Crane, Perkins; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters, one half-brother and one grandson.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Stroud, with the Rev. Ellis Rollette officiating. Burial will be in the Sac and Fox Cemetery.

Iris V. Loessin

Iris V. Loessin died Wednesday.

Survivors include her companion, Versie Farris; father of her children, Otto Loessin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Karl and Judy and their children, David and Karla; David and Karla Renee; six great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Justin, Jennifer, Colton, Danielle and Tyler; sister, Shirley Humphrey and her sons, Bill and Chuck; great-niece, Amber; great-nephew, Kelsey; sisters, Gerry and Jody; and brother, Mack.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Crystal Sumrow and her father, Marvin Hoyt Hale.

Services were Monday at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, with Pastor Harvey Spear officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Cemetery, Oklahoma City.

Hazel Greenfield

Hazel Greenfield died Monday in Cushing. She was 89.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of the First Born in Cushing. Further arrangements will be announced by Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel of Chandler.

Jeffrey L. Harris

Jeffrey L. Harris of Shawnee died Sunday at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 34.

He was born July 31, 1965, in Springfield, Mo. He retired from the Pottawatomie County District No. 2.

Harris married Ladawna Martin on March 19, 1994. in Shawnee. He served in the U.S. Army from April 1984 till March 1985.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a resident of Shawnee for the last seven years. Prior to that, he lived in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include his wife, Ladawna Harris of the home; one daughter, Karlea Dannette Martin of the home; mother-in-law, Shirley Martin of the home; one uncle, Chester Stewart of Tecumseh; one aunt, Francis Stewart of Tecumseh; two cousins, Kevin Stewart of Springfield, Mo.; and Patty Stewart of Tecumseh; adopted family, Johnny Terrell, Belinda Girty, Reta Smith, Marlin Swofford and Scott Underwood.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Open Door Church of God with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery, Bethel, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Bette Angel

Bette Angel, Shawnee, widow of the late Roy Angel, longtime Shawnee News-Star sports editor, died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 72.

Mrs. Angel was born March 8, 1928, in Purcell to J. Thomas Brantley and Bessie Lee (Karr) Brantley.

She married Roy S. Angel on Aug. 22, 1949, in Shawnee.

She lived in Purcell before moving to Shawnee in 1949.

Mrs. Angel was a dispatcher for Coca Cola for 30 years, retiring in 1998, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Shawnee.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Chris and Patricia Angel, Chickasha; Cliff Angel, Oklahoma City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marta and Billy Brown, Shawnee; Sharna and Michael Shirl, Houston, Texas; brother, Tom Brantley, Las Vegas, Nev.; four sisters, Mae Werneke, Edmond; Stella Eargle and Helen Allsbrook, both of Columbia, S.C.; Florene Blevins, New Orleans, La.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roy Angel, on Aug. 22, 1984.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Norma Evelyn Palmer

Former Seminole resident Norma Evelyn Palmer of Tyler, Texas, died Saturday at a Tyler nursing home. She was 88.

Mrs. Palmer was born Jan. 11, 1912, in Hartford, Ark., to Robert Delaware Young and Mary Etta (Metcalf) Young. She married Roy Lester Palmer on July 14, 1942, in Reno, Nev.

She worked at Pink Laundry for more than 30 years and had lived in Tyler since 1995. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Seminole.

Survivors include her brother, Herman Young, Muskogee; sister, Faye Collins, Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Flo Young, Midland, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on July 1, 1994, and her parents.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Arthur Gene Shaw

Former Shawnee resident Arthur Gene Shaw, 66, of Mustang died Monday at his home after a lengthy illness.

Shaw was born Dec. 7, 1933, in Wingate, Texas, to Arthur Cecil and Mary Shaw.

He was reared in Shawnee.

He married Billie Jean Bohannon on Oct. 14, 1961.

Shaw worked as a design engineer in the aeronautic industry for several large corporations for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Bryan Shaw in 1982; his parents, Arthur and Mary Shaw; four brothers. Jimmy Foy, Billy and L.B. Shaw; and one sister, Mildred Lane.

Survivors include his wife, Billie, of the home, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tammi Brown, Oklahoma City; Kyndal and Ed McDonald, Jones; and Jennifer and Keith Thomas, Vian; seven grandchildren, Justin Griffin, Crystal, and Brock McDonald, all of Jones; Meghan and Alec Brown, both of Oklahoma City; and Michael and Logan Thomas, both of Vian; and numerous nieces, nephews and family members.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Mustang Cemetery.

Mary Alice Myers

Seminole resident Mary Alice Myers died Saturday at Seminole Medical Center. She was 62.

Mrs. Myers was born Oct. 13, 1937, in Seminole to Raymond Walker and Dora Knight McKinney. She married Jack H. Myers on April 7, 1967, in Kimball, Neb.

She moved to Seminole from Kimball in 1994 and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include her mother and step father, Dora and David McKinney; daughter, Shelly Wynne, Seminole; son, Kelly Myers, Seminiole; brothers, Fred Walker, Springfield, Mo.; Bart Walker, Mandeville, La.; sister, Rae Underberger, Tarzana, Calif.; stepsister, Jeffryn Myers, Denver, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Myers, on Jan. 18, 1998; and stepson, Cary Myers, 1991.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Sill officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
