Ruby Irene Jackson

Ruby Irene Jackson died at 7:25 a.m. Friday Apr. 18 in the Dade County Nursing Home, Greenfield, Mo. at the age of 93 years. Ruby was born Aug. 13, 1909 to Alva and Jane (Johnson) Hinson. She was a graduate of Perry, Okla. High School and a member of Cushing First Christian Church. She was married to Thomas Everett Jackson on June 29, 1934 in Bristow. Ruby was a wonderful homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed working hard for the doctors when she had been employed. Ruby was an avid card player and played Bridge excellently. She was very active in the Cushing Senior Citizens Center. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband in 1966, and two sisters, Totsy Shore and Arky L. Harsham.

Survivors include two sons; Bob and his wife Valerie Jackson of Greenfield, Mo., and Tom and his wife Norma Jackson of Ft. Worth, Texas, one sister; Elvona Springer of Stillwater, six grandchildren; Robert C. Jackson of Willard, Mo., Kristi Jackson of Springfield, Mo., Bryan Jackson of Springfield, Mark Jackson of Abilene, Texas, Kara Jackson of Ft. Worth, and Tyler Jackson of Ft. Worth, and one great-grandson; Stoney Jackson of Willard, Mo. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Services were held 10 a.m. Monday, Apr. 21 in Cushing First Christian Church with Rev. Jon Goeringer officiating. Burial followed at Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing. The family received friends Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Greenfield Funeral Chapel, Greenfield, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to Cushing's First Christian Church.

Charles E. "Jack" Davenport

Charles E. "Jack" Davenport, longtime Ponca City resident, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center. He was 86.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2003 at Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003 at the Community Christian Church with the Rev. Wayne Majors, Pastor, officiating. Following the memorial service, the family will greet friends at the Community Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home.

Jack was born on Nov. 19, 1916 in Cushing, Okla., the son of William N. and Eva (Leach) Davenport. On Dec. 20, 1933, Jack married Maxine Erwin in Chandler, Okla. They made their home in Cushing until moving to Ponca City in 1946. Jack owned and operated Davenport House Moving and Double Cola Bottling Company with Maxine. He enjoyed horses and horse racing. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #14 and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Ponca City. Jack and Maxine were both active members of the Community Christian Church for over 50 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ann Austin of Ponca City and Peggy Selvey and her husband John of Indianapolis, Ind; two grandchildren, Stephen Selvey and his wife Roza of Muncie, Ind. and Camille VanderVoort and her husband Bret of Evanston, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Wesley Selvey, Jacob Selvey and Drew VanderVoort and two sisters, Beth Morgan of Ponca City and Stella Jackson of Killeen, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 2, 2002, three brothers and one sister.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Jack's name to the Community Christian Church, 2109 W. Grand, Ponca City, OK 74601 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

The family will be at 7 Spring Village.

Lloyd Carroll Berry

Lloyd Carroll Berry, a Cushing resident and former truck driver, died Jan. 10, at his home in Cushing at the age of 62 years.

The son of the late Emmitt Berry and Iona Jakeway Berry, Lloyd was born Jan. 18, 1940 in Martin, South Dakota. He was reared and educated in the South Dakota and Nebraska areas.

Lloyd worked for numerous years as a truck driver and had most recently worked for Quapaw.

Lloyd is survived by one daughter, Jeannette Berry of Denver, Colo.; two sons, Sam Berry of Austin, Texas and Dean Berry of Aurora, Colo.; three sisters, Lavonne Parker and her husband Clyde of Dalton, Nebraska, Clara Johnson of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Betty Lou Greenwalt of Bert, Oklahoma; five brothers, Clyde Berry and his wife Linda of Angleton, Texas, Raymond Berry of McGrew, Nebraska, Clifford Berry of Signal Hill, Calif., Herbert Berry of Lakewood, Colo., and Allen Berry of Tulsa; special people, Irene Gonzalis, Lou (Gonzalis) Strader, and Patricia (Gonzalis) Davis, all of Cushing; two granddaughters; three grandsons; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

His parents Emmitt and Iona preceded Lloyd in death.

Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M., Thursday, Jan. 16, in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.

Leota E. Heuston

Leota E. Heuston, a former bookkeeper, died in Tampa, Flor. Saturday, Aug. 10 at the age of 83 years.

The daughter of the late Otis Chambers and Letitia (Sheets) Chambers, Leota was born Nov. 24, 1918 in Pryor, Okla.

She is survived by her son Don Heuston and his wife Kellie; one daughter, Harla Heuston; three grandchildren, Anne Johnson, Michael Heuston, and Christopher Rachelson; five great-grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received at Davis Funeral Home, Aug. 15 from 6-7 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing, Friday, Aug. 16 at 10 a.m.

CLYDE LESLIE BLACKWELL

Graveside services for Clyde Leslie Blackwell, 60, of Jennings will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 25, 2003 at the Lawson Cemetery North of Yale. Rev. Monty Wood will preside.

Services will be under the direction of the Yale- Palmer Funeral Chapel of Yale.

Born July 5, 1942 in Pawnee County, Oklahoma to Clyde and Leta Victoria (Carlile) Blackwell. He received his early education in the Quay area. He was married to Viola Joetta (Gates) in 1994. Mr. Blackwell was a truck driver; he was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Olive, Oklahoma.

Mr. Blackwell died on Saturday March 22, 2003 at his home in Jennings.

Survivors include wife Viola of the home 2 sons Roy Lee Blackwell of Yale and Leslie Blackwell of Cushing, 2 daughters Victoria Lynn Matthews of Woodward and Crystal Gail Blackwell of Shattuck, 1 step daughter Debbie Dennis, 1 brother Leonard Blackwell of Davenport, 3 sisters Leta Faye Plummer and Mildred Page both of Stillwater and Naomi Wikel of Oilton, 6 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and by 1 step great grandchild.

His parents and 4 brothers and 1 sister preceded Mr. Blackwell in death.

Helen Lee (Haworth) Lorette

Helen Lee (Haworth) Lorette died Thursday, June 26th, at the age of 88. Born at Yale, OK, Feb. 2, 1915, to Bert and Hattie Haworth. She attended Markham and Oilton schools and married Aloysius (Loyce) Lorette at Oilton, OK in 1934. They moved to Wichita, KS in 1941 where Helen worked first as a welder at Cessna Aircraft and then as a seamstress and tailor.

She lived for a time in Louisiana surviving a hurricane in the mid-60s. In the late 60s Boeing Aircraft transferred her husband to the Seattle, Washington area and they made their home in Everett, Washington. In 1987 Helen again made Wichita her home where she was an active member of Faith Chapel. She spent the last couple years of her life under the care of Marlee Dennis in Yale, OK.

A giving person, she made clothing for her numerous nieces and nephews, designed and made crewel embroidered accent pillows that were sold to raise money for the Hopi Indian Reservation missionary effort. Her vacations were often spent with the Reverend Herd and his family helping with the mission work on the Hopi Reservation. An avid gardener, she would work steadily to transform her yard into a miniature Eden.

Her husband, Loyce; her parents, Bert and Hattie Haworth; a sister, Lucille Condit; and a brother, Wayne Haworth preceded her in death.

She is survived by two brothers and a sister: Mearl Haworth of Okmulgee, OK, Gene Haworth of Norman, OK, Maxine Harder of Wichita, KS; a special friend, Tina Jones of Wichita; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Graveside services were held at Oilton Cemetery, Oilton, OK. June 28, 2003 at 11:00 a.m.

SHARON KAYE MOORE

Funeral services for Sharon Kaye Moore, 59, of Yale will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday March 24, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Yale. Brother Michael Dershem and Rev. Steve Lopp will preside. Interment will follow at the Greenwood cemeterysouth of Yale.

Rylee Moore will sing "Amazing Grace" and the First Baptist Church Quartet will sing "Beulah Land" and "In The Garden".

Serving, as pallbearers will be Eldon Lewis, Danny Reece, Troy Lewis, Jimmy Martin, Larry Morphew and Chuck Ramsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Moore, Randy Turner, Jack Morphew and Sam Turner.

Funeral services will be under the direction of the Yale-Palmer Funeral Chapel of Yale.

Born August 13, 1943 in DelNorte, Colorado to Theron and Oreda Louise (Toone) Smith. She received her early education in Bristow, Oklahoma. She was married to Raymond Walter Eslick in November 1958. She was married to Richard Moore on December 11, 1968.

Mrs. Moore was a member of the First Baptist Church in Yale; she was an Honorary Member of the FFA, member of the FFA Booster club and was a member of the American Brahma Association.

Mrs. Moore died on Thursday March 20, 2003 at the Stillwater Medical Center.

Survivors include husband Richard Moore of the home, 1 son Randall Eslick of Yale; 5 daughters Krista Coffelt and husband Terry of Yale, Connie Nasalroad and husband Earl of Yale, Kelly Blackwell and husband Jimmy of Yale, Anitta Henckel and husband John of Cushing and Jerri Leean Simpson and husband Brian of Yale, 5 brothers Billy Don Smith and wife Joann of Stroud, Charles Smith and wife Wilma of Broken Arrow, Ray Smith of Colorado, Larry Smith and wife Ellen of Bristow and David Smith of Sapulpa, 1 sister Doris Ellis and husband Bill of Yale. 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, 1granddaughter Kimberly Dawn and by 3 grandsons, Brandon, Aaron and Justin.

The family asks that memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church in Yale in Sharon's memory.

Palmer Silas Westfall

Funeral services for Palmer Westfall, 63, of Perkins, Oklahoma will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 8 at the Palmer Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing. Rev. Edsel Hall will officiate. Interment will follow at the Perkins Cemetery.

Funeral services will be under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing.

Born Oct. 9, 1939 in Yale, Okla. to Jessie Palmer and Sarah Ellen Robinson Westfall. He received his early education in the Yale and Cushing Schools. He was married to Jane in 1975 and she preceded him in death. He was married to Goldie Tilley in 1990 and she also preceded him in death.

Mr. Westfall was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the army.

He died Friday July 4 at his home in Perkins.

Survivors include, one son Brad Palmer Westfall of Perkins, one daughter Pam Leek of Alabama, Step daughters, Anita Grimes of Perkins and Crystal

Anderson of Georgia, Step-sons, Bruce Moore of Okla. City, John Moore of Okla. City, Delbert Moore of Edmond, Donald Moore of Texas and Larry Tilley of Perkins, one brother Dalmer Westfall of Breckenridge, Texas, 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Mr. Westfall was preceded in death by his parents, stepson John Tilley and by one infant brother.

Colonel Samuel Houston Roane

Samuel Houston Roane of Norman, 67, died Wednesday November 12, at home; he had suffered a lengthy illness prior to his death. Reverend David Jones of Oklahoma City will officiate the services on Saturday, November 15, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma.

A native of Norman, Roane was born on June 6, 1939 to Alta Mae and Walter Houston Roane. Sam attended elementary and high school in the city of Norman. He graduated from Oklahoma State University, receiving a B. S. in Geology in 1960.

Sam was a Captain for Northwest Airlines, Inc. until his retirement in 1996. Sam was also a Lt. Col. in the United States Air Force Reserve with the 934th Tactical Air Command, flying C-130's, until his retirement in 1994. Sam and Marjorie attended Bethel Baptist Church in Norman for the past few years.

Sam was preceded in death by his young brother, Marvin Dickey Roane, and his parents, Alta Mae Boyd and Walter Houston Roane. He is survived by his wife of the home, Marjorie Ama Black Roane, and his son, Samuel Houston Roane, Jr., who resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and one grandchild, Iris Seichrist-Roane. He also leaves behind his sister and her husband, Nina and Gerald Spotts, of Norman, his younger brother and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. James B. Roane, of Norman, his brother-in-law and his wife, Amos E. Black, III and Kay, and his sister-in-law, Mary E. Black Osborn of Ponca City, nieces, Cheryl Ponder, Deborah Spotts-Kalkhan Ronda Morgan, Stephanie Roane, and Christy Ponder and nephews, Robert Roane, Stephen Roane, Gerald D. Spotts, David Gene Johnson and Timothy Earl Johnson, Joshua Black, Amos E. Black, IV, Great Nephews Levi Johnson, Gabriel Johnson, Daniel Morgan, Jason Ponder, Cameron Spotts-Kalkhan and Jarrett Spotts-Rames. Sam leaves a host of friends who loved him and will miss him very much.

Sam and his wife resided in Minneapolis, Minnesota for thirty-three years before moving back to Norman, Oklahoma in 2000. Sam loved flying both commercial and private planes and spending time at his cabin and island in Ontario, Canada.
