Julian Wayne Phillips

Seminole resident Julian Wayne "Snuffy" Phillips died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was 80.

Phillips was born Oct. 22, 1919, in Wetumka to John Calvin Phillips and Emma Lee (Redding) Phillips. He married Ethel Lee Phillips on Aug. 30, 1943.

He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator. He lived most of his life in Seminole County, entering Seminole Estates Nursing Center in 1997.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Darla Phillips, Seminole; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Rick Postman, St. Louis; brothers, Robert Phillips and Marshall Phillips, both of Seminole; Jackie Phillips, Maud; sister, Loretta Smith, Maud; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, on Aug. 14, 1978; two stepchildren, Bonnie Lee Bridges and Joe Henry Boatman; brother, Clifton Phillips; two sisters, Lena Estep and Betty Belshe; and one grandchild, Alvin Walker Jr.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Fellowship Church with Jim Hutton officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Dale Keith Jenkins Sr.

Dale Keith Jenkins Sr. died Friday at Holdenville General Hospital. He was 76.

Jenkins was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Allen to Aulsie and Pearl Jenkins. He married Agnes Ruth Mathis on March 13, 1944, in Holdenville.

After leaving the Air Force in 1946, Jenkins worked at Smith Tire and Supply. In 1975, he purchased the facility and operated it until he retired in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jenkins, of the home; four children and their spouses, Dale K. and Robin Jenkins Jr., Dustin; Karen and Bob Furman, Ponca City; Jim and Sharon Jenkins, Bethel; Jayne and Jay Cox, Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Bryan and Lori Jenkins, Guthrie; Crystal and Farell Tehe, Jay; Beth and Scott Lane, Mansville; Jennifer and Jason Leyva, Bowie, Md.; Jamie and Amy Jenkins, Bethel; Amanda Jenkins, Holdenville; Mattie and Taylor Cox, Houston; Ron and Holly Miller, Americas, Kan.; Gaylynn and Doug Foran, Holdenville; and James Fife, Dustin; and 11 great-grandchildren, Zachery Kingfisher, Justin Tehe, Cameron Jenkins, Shannon Lane, Zachary Leyva, Hanna Miller, Hunter Miller, Hayden Miller, Hadley Miller, Christian Foran and Kayli Foran.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Barnard Memorial Methodist Church in Holdenville with the Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Robert Lee Hancock

Robert Lee Hancock died Saturday in Norman. He was 80.

Hancock was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Tryon to George and Esther (Cox) Hancock.

He retired from the U.S. Army and served in World War II.

Survivors include his brother, Jerry Hancock, Green Valley, Az.; and cousin, Barbour Cox, Chandler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Arrangements were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Paul Thomas Johns Sr.

Paul Thomas Johns Sr., 79, Stroud, died Saturday in Stroud.

Johns was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Depew to Fred and Ellen (Higginbatham) Johns. He married Pauline Brown in Bristow on Sept. 28, 1946.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a welder for Allied until his retirement. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Johns, of the home; four sons, Carl Johns, Bartlesville; David Johns, Oklahoma City; Paul T. Johns Jr. and Phillips Johns, both of Stroud; two brothers, Fred Johns, Decator, Ill.; James Johns, Bristow; three sisters, Hazel Arrington, Tulsa; Lola Duschane, Chilsia; Wanda Sturm, Broken Arrow; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Stroud, with the Rev. Jim Christian officiating. Burial will be in Bristow Cemetery.

Clestia Rhea Davis

Clestia Rhea Davis of Shawnee died Monday at a local hospital. She was 82.

She was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Pottsville, Ark., the daughter of John Staggs and Anna Bell Tedford.

She married Carl Cleo Davis and was a homemaker. Davis was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Faye Cravens of West Memphis, Ark.; Anna Derebery of Shawnee; two sons, Charles Cleo Davis of Marianna, Ark.; Carlos Wayne Davis of Belton Texas; four sisters, Faye Lacy of Lapento, Ark.; Dorothy Beard of Oceola, Ark.; Geraldine Delancy of Oceola, Ark.; Nola Young of Cahokia, Ill.; brother, John Staggs of Hollandale, Miss.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roller-McNutt Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Forrest Hills Cemetery, Little Rock, under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home.

Jimmy Ray Bostick

Jimmy Ray Bostick of Guymon died Sunday at a Texas hospital. He was 65.

He was born July 12, 1934, in Wanette to Jimmy Coleman and Mona Jewell (Harris) Bostick.

He graduated from Hart High School in Hart, Texas. In 1972, he moved to Guymon from Texhoma.

Bostick farmed and was employed in the parts department and as an irrigation engine mechanic with Nash Brothers Implement for several years before opening his own business, J & G Engines in Guymon. He retired in 1994. He was a past 32nd degree Mason and attended the First Baptist Church.

Bostick married Judith Arlene Combs on Sept. 2, 1989, in Rawlins, Wyo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle, Dave Bostick.

Survivors include his wife, Judy, of the home; one daughter, Darla Kay, and husband Tommy Davis of Borger, Texas; five step-children, Conya Rupp of Purdy, Mo.; Kevin Jones, Debra Schutte and Kif Sides ,all of Guymon; and Kenny Sides of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Bostick and wife Millie of Lubbock, Texas, and Darrell and wife Ruth of Broken Bow; and many other relatives, including Rosalea and husband Kenneth Griffith of Liberal, Kan.; Janet Taylor of Oklahoma City; Beverly Bostick of Seminole; and aunt Mae Bostick of Macomb.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Guymon with the Rev. Mike Wiechmann officiating.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tribbey Cemetery in Tribbey. Services are under the direction of Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

Frank J. Landry

Earlsboro resident Frank J. Landry died Monday in a local hospital. He was 75.

Landry was born June 26, 1924, in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of Adrian Joseph and Eunice Marie (Judice) Landry.

He married Ethel Frances Bailey on April 9, 1957, in Shawnee.

Landry worked as a systems analyst for 24 years for the U.S. Air Force before his retirement.

He served with the U.S. Air Force and retired as a technical sergeant after 20 years of service.

Landry lived in Shawnee for about 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Frank Joseph Landry Jr.; his parents, Adrian and Eunice Landry; a brother, Julius Landry; and a nephew, Joey Landry.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Landry, Earlsboro; a daughter, Janice Landry (Anthony), Earlsboro; four brothers, James Landry, Raleigh, N.C.; Lee Roy Landry and Henry Landry, both of Port Arthur, Texas; Harry Landry, Tacoma, Wash.; and four grandchildren, John Anthony, Jessie Anthony, Katlin Anthony and Matthew Anthony, all of Earlsboro.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Resthaven Memorial Park Trinity Chapel, with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating.

Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Wayne F. Young

Shawnee resident Wayne F. Young died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. He was 88.

Young was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Harley and Christina Young.

He earned a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1934 from Miami University in Ohio, a master's degree in journalism in 1947 from the University of Missouri, and a Ph.D. in government in 1964 from the University of Oklahoma.

He married Alma L. Glass on Jan. 14, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Young taught journalism at Idaho University, West Texas State University, Illinois State University, and was an associate professor of government at Oklahoma Baptist University. He worked at several newspapers in Piqua, Ohio, Cincinnati, Ohio, Dayton, Ohio, and co-wrote two books. He owned and operated the Newkirk Herald Journal in Newkirk.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps as a master sergeant in Guam and North China from 1943 to 1946. He served in a public relations capacity and was discharged in 1946.

Young was a member of Phi Beta Phi Fraternity and the American Political Science Association.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Young.

Survivors include several nephews, including Mr. and Mrs. James Folkes, Carrollton, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. William G. Glass, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Glass, Austin, Texas.

Viewing will be until 12:15 p.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, with Bill Matthews officiating, assisted by Phil Thompson.

Services are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Mildred Anna Webb

Lifelong Tecumseh resident Mildred Anna Webb died Thursday in Shawnee. She was 87.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Carol Hopper officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Webb was born Oct. 31, 1911, in Tecumseh to Robert B. and Lelia (Horn) Sanders. She married Oral Webb in Gainesville, Texas, on Feb. 2, 1929.

She attended school in Tecumseh and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include her three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Betty Webb, Cerritos, Calif.; Weldon and Cecilia Webb, McLoud; David and Dorothy Webb, Tecumseh; two sisters, Helen Dyson, Rush Springs; Martha Sanders, Tecumseh; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on May 8, 1986; her parents; two sons, Bobby Webb and Johnny Webb; one sister, Cleo Fowler; one brother, Ray Sanders; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Scruggs and Mary Webb.

George W. Posey

George W. Posey, 60, Seminole, died Thursday in Tulsa.

He was born in Seminole on Jan. 5, 1939, to Paul and Elizabeth (Jackson) Posey.

He was a certified public accountant and the chief financial officer at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid and was employed by the Citizen Potawatomi Clinic, Shawnee.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea. He married Fayelee Pickett Finney in Tulsa on June 8, 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Seminole; daughter Sheryl Lynn Kovalczyk, Utah; three sons, George Gregory Posey, Calif.; Timothy Posey, Wis.; and Christopher Posey, Tulsa; stepson Jeff Finney, Georgia; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Posey, and stepson Brett Finney.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Tulsa, with Father Kenneth Fulton officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Tulsa. Arrangements are under the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service.
