Barbara Renee Cooksey

Barbara Renee (Pearl) Cooksey of Shawnee died Sunday in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 15.

She was born Feb. 11, 1984, in Oklahoma City to Melvin Pearl and Erica Cooksey. She moved to Shawnee in 1985, and graduated from Shawnee Middle School.

She was a member of Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church and Heir Borne Youth Group.

Surviving are her mother, Erica Cooksey of Shawnee; father, Melvin Pearl of Shawnee; a sister, Melody LeAnn Pearl of Shawnee; two halfsisters, Stephanie Marie Cooksey of Shawnee; and Leslie Ann Cooksey of Oklahoma City; grandmother Gladys Copher of Meeker; grandparents, Lillie and Walter Joe Pearl of Meeker; aunts and uncles, Martha and Charlie Oden, Earlsboro; Shirley Murphy of Shawnee; Tina Ned of Shawnee; Donna Atwood of Tulsa; Carlton Copher of Meeker; Roger Pearl of Shawnee; Steve Todd of Wetumka; Jack Atwood of McAlester; and Donald Ivie of Sulphur; and numerous cousins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Ron Baldridge and Rev. Andy Davidson officiating. Burial will be in Sunnylane Cemetery in Oklahoma City under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Carolyn Lorene Wilson

Former Seminole resident Carolyn Lorene Wilson died Monday in San Antonio, Texas. She was 54.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Shawnee on Sept. 20, 1944, to Truitt R. and Alpha Lorene (Vaughn) Ashcraft. She attended school in Varnum and New Lima and married Teddy Earl Wilson. She was a resident of Schertz, Texas, and had worked as a secretary for J&H Trucking of San Antonio, Texas.

Survivors include her husband, Teddy Earl Wilson, of the home; a daughter, Brenda JoAnn Nobles, San Antonio, Texas; a son, Gary Don Wilson, Universal City, Texas; three sisters, Louise Burkhart, Schertz, Texas; Sue Perryman, Shawnee; Oleta Jane Morrow, Rudy, Ark.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Anna C. Woods

Anna C. Woods of Howland, Ohio, died Tuesday in a Niles, Ohio, nursing home. She was 84.

Mrs. Woods was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Charles L. and Agnes (Shore) Reiche. She married Arch "Bud" Woods and was the co-owner with her husband of Baby's Diaper Service in Howland, Ohio, for 29 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her husband, Arch "Bud" Woods; and two brothers, Charles Reiche and Leo Reiche.

She is survived by three daughters, VicciAnne and Howard Cook, formerly of Shawnee, now of DeFiance, Ohio; Tracey and Michael Derico, Leavittsburg, Ohio; Cara Woods, Niles, Ohio; one brother, Elmer P. Reiche, Export, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church with burial at All Souls Cemetery. Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, Warren, Ohio, is in charge of arrangements.

Urshal V. Beets

Former Wanette resident Urshal V. Beets, Moore, died Tuesday in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 81.

Beets was born March 19, 1918, in Wanette to Sam and Anne (Vestal) Beets. He attended school in Wanette and was a fuel tank repairman at Tinker Air Force Base for 20 years.

He lived most of his life in Wanette and Moore.

He married Lois Whiting on Nov. 8, 1948, in Weleetka. A World War II veteran, he served from 1941-1945 with the U.S. Army, 158th Field Artillery, 45th Infantry Division.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Annie Beets; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Beets, of the home; two daughters, Allison Chipman, Midwest City; Mary Maddux, Del City; two sisters, LaVerne Conley, Purcell; Beatrice Laughlin, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Archie Beller officiating.

Burial will be a at Wanette Cemetery.

F.A. Newberry

F.A. "Al" Newberry died Wednesday at his home in Okemah. He was 73.

Newberry was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Wardville, the son of George E. Sr. and Winnie Vivian (Hooten) Newberry. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific. Newberry received a bachelor's degree from East Central University in Ada, a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma and a doctorate from the National Christian University in Arlington, Texas.

A principal with the Oklahoma City School System for 41 years, he received the Outstanding Service Award for 15 consecutive years.

He was an active member of the Methodist church, a member of Who's Who in Oklahoma City in 1963, president of the Oklahoma City Administrative Council and a 40-year member of the Oklahoma Education Association. He married Gwen Rhea Stovall on Dec. 9, 1995, in Okemah.

Newberry is survived by his wife, Gwen Rhea Newberry, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Robin Newberry, Panama City Beach, Fla.; two stepsons, Jay Stovall and John Stovall, both of Okemah; one stepdaughter, Claudia Gaskill, Okemah; two brothers, J.V. Newberry of Wardville; George Newberry, Coalgate; and five grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Lehman officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

Glen Windle Stone

Shawnee resident Glen Windle Stone died Monday in a local hospital. He was 71.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fairview Baptist Church. Burial will be 5 p.m. Friday at Stone Rose Cemetery south of Tahlequah.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Lillian Lake Case Jones

Lillian Lake Case Jones, 87, Houston, Texas, died Sunday in Houston.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Prague Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Ruby Dixson

Former Shawnee resident Ruby Dixson, Alva, died Monday in Alva. She was 78.

The daughter of W.L. and Dora (Neighbors) McBride was born May 4, 1923, in Earlsboro. She attended Earlsboro Schools.

On Nov. 12, 1955, she and James C. Dixson were married in Shawnee. Mrs. Dixon was a member of Shawnee's First Baptist Church, where worked in the nursery.

She was a bookkeeper at First Federal Savings and Loan in Shawnee.

Preceding Mrs. Dixson in death were her husband, parents and three sisters, Reba Little, Dealie McBride and Carrie Martin.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Maxine Dixson of Alva.; stepson, Elmo Dixson of Shawnee; two grandsons, Michael Dixson and his wife Shannon of Warren Robbins, Ga., and Jeff Dixson of Alva; two granddaughters, Tina Prichard of Enid and Shauna French of Tulsa, as well as two great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today and until service time on Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel. The Rev. J.C. Forrand will officiate. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Marie Antonie Lowery

Marie Antonie Lowery of Prague died Tuesday in Tulsa. She was 88.

Mrs. Lowery was born April 27, 1913, in Europe.

Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Viola Pearl Parrish

Viola Pearl Parrish, 88, Shawnee, died Monday in a local hospital.

She was born March 23, 1913, in Westville, the daughter of James and Iva Coley. She lived for a time in Earlsboro and had graduated from Prairie View High School.

Mrs. Parrish had been a Shawnee resident since June, 1943.

She and John Orval Parrish were married in Earlsboro on Oct. 10, 1936.

Mrs. Parrish was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents and one son, Jimmy Wayne Parrish.

Survivors include her two sons and a daughter-in-law, John K. Parrish and Tommy D. and Michaela Parrish, all of Shawnee; grandchildren, Roger Parrish of Oregon, Julie Patton of Shawnee, Tommy D. Parrish II of Oklahoma City, Amber R. Parrish of Shawnee and Patrick S. Parrish of Shawnee; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Brogdon of Checotah and a brother, Grover Coley of Tulsa.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery. Dr. Jeff Moore will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

James Hale

James Hale of Harrah died July 1. He was 44.

Hale was born Dec. 9, 1956, in Oklahoma City to Patsy Ruth (Phillips) and Ival Jennings Hale Jr. He graduated from Harrah High School in 1975.

Following his paternal grandfather, he began working for OG&E Horseshoe Lake Station two weeks after graduation. He was employed with OG&E for 26 years, working as an operator at Horseshoe Lake, Muskogee and Sooner Stations, returning to Harrah in 1989.

Hale married Renee Lewis on June 30, 1979.

He taught Sunday school at the Harrah Church of the Nazarene. His childhood roots were in Harrah United Methodist Church and Harrah First Baptist Church.

He was president of Sooner Falcon Club of America, a member of the OG&E Men's Club, and was a 32nd degree Mason, Akdar Shrine and Scottish Rite.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Ival J. Hale Sr. and Gertha Hale and William J. and Ruby Phillips.

Surviving are his wife, Renee; son James Elliot; daughter Ona Sheree; parents Ival Jennings Hale Jr. and Patsy Ruth; sister and brother-in-law, Darla Ruth and Joe Haese of Meeker; nephew A.J. Haese; two nieces, Kimberly and Jennifer Haese and other family members and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nazarene in Harrah followed by cremation.

David James Ryan

David James Ryan died Friday in an automobile accident. He was 28.

He was born July 7, 1971, in Shawnee to Charles David Ryan, El Paso, Texas, and Donna Lee Ryan, Midway, Utah.

He married Staci Fay Forakis July 14, 1990, in Charleston, Utah.

He owned two businesses, an architectural firm and a computer business. He was an active member of the Latter-Day Saints church.

Survivors include his wife, Staci; children, Ashley, Kassy and Alex; parents, Charles David and Donna; sister, Christina; brother, Christopher; uncle and aunt, Roy and Linda Danyeurr; and cousins, Gabe and Tammy.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Heber Stake Center, 150 No. 200 W. Heber City, Utah. Visitation will be 6 p.m.to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home. Visitation also will be 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Charleston Cemetery under the direction of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home.
