James Harris Richardson

James "Cabbage" Harris Richardson, 72, Seminole, died Monday at a Seminole hospital.

He was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Carter County to Benjamin Franklin Richardson and Evelyn Hudson Richardson. He was married in 1951 to Betty Elaine Richardson at Fort Smith, Ark.

A general laborer, he retired in 1987. Richarson, a Baptist, received the World War II Victory Medal while serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Leslie Richardson, Seminole; two daughters, Tina Whitt and Cindy Richardson, both of Seminole; a brother, Sam Richardson, Moore; three sisters, Coleene Arvin, Moore; Jackie Wortz, Texarkana; and Lois Gregory, Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Coker Family Cemetery. Swearingen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Olivia Hernandez Nenaikita

Olivia "Penny" Hernandez Nenaikita died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. She was 45.

She was born Jan. 21, 1954, in Arizona.

Survivors include four children, Robyn, Jill, Martha and Jerry Jr., four grandchildren, Craig, Loraina, Marcos and George Jr., all of the home; father, James Nenaikita, Shawnee; sisters, JoAnn Nenaikita, Shawnee; Christine Nenaikita, Shawnee; Evelyn Flores, Shawnee; Francis Garcia, Tecumseh; Susan Asley, Oklahoma City; Connie Nenaikita, Eagle Pass, Texas; brothers, Brian Nenaikita, Tecumseh; Russell Nenaikita, Tecumseh; Ray Nenaikita, Shawnee; Michael Nenaikita, Shawnee; James Rubblaux Sr., Oklahoma City; Jimmy Nenaikita, Jones; Julio Nenaikita, Eagle Pass, Texas, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Tribal rites will be at the home of Elizabeth Salazar in Jones.

Wilford J. Terry

Shawnee resident Wilford J. Terry died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 65.

Terry was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Holdenville to Otis W. and Beulah (Gentry) Terry. He married Wanda June Long on May 10, 1955, in Holdenville.

He attended Moss High School and moved to Shawnee in 1959. He was employed by Sooner Supplies for 33 years and was a truck driver for Gilbert and Sons Trucking for eight years, retiring in January of 1998.

He was a member of the Central Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, June Terry, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Cecil Hickman and Pam and Kevin Baskin, all of Shawnee; daughter, Sandy Shipman, Tecumseh; father, Otis W. Terry, Shawnee; sister, Geneva Gollahon, Shawnee; brother, Carl Terry, Canyon Lake, Texas; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Central Church of Christ with Dwyane Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Crystal Jeanette Jones

Crystal Jeanette Jones, 25, Prague, died Friday in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Jones was born Dec. 11, 1973, in Stroud to C.J. Mosley and Nancy (Provience) Sligar. She graduated from Stroud High School in 1992.

She married Jeremy Jones on March 15, 1996, in Shawnee. She was a member of the Life Changing Evangelistic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jeremy Jones, Prague; mother and stepfather, Nancy and John Sligar, Prague; daughter, Christian Faith Armstrong, Prague; two brothers, Terry Mosley, Cromwell; Calvin Mosley, Okemah; four sisters, Rajeana Kimbel, Tulsa; Nancy Hager, Prague; Sarah Diane Sligar, Prague; Sheila Mosley, Okemah; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, C.J. Mosley.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Prague. Burial will follow at the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Rufe Ray Harper

Longtime Shawnee resident Rufe Ray Harper died Thursday at a local nursing home. He was 75.

Harper was born Feb. 12, 1923, in Oklahoma to Ira T. and Euna Grace (Taylor) Harper. He married Zelphia Stalanaker on June 9, 1972, in Shawnee.

He was a farmer and a member of Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include his wife, Zelphia Harper, Shawnee; son, Robert Ray Harper, Clarksville, Texas; daughter, Mary Ann Meeks, Houston, Texas; and many grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in Neal Cemetery.

Jessie O. Branson

Jessie O. Branson, 81, Tecumseh, died Friday in a local hospital.

She was born March 12, 1917, in Tecumseh to Jim and Zora Shirey. She married Hadley H. Branson on Nov. 1, 1935, in Tecumseh. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Heavener.

She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Bobbie St. Clair, Durant; Wanda and Dean Davis, Purcell; Eldena and Kenneth Wade, Shawnee; and Joveta and Robert Owen, Shawnee; a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Sandy Branson, Tecumseh; two daughters-in-law, Coleen Branson, Florida, and Jeanie Branson, Ada; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara McLaughlin and Bessie Coley, both of Tecumseh; and brother Leon Shirey, Tecumseh.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Ronnie and Billy Branson; a great-grandson; three brothers and three sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Lydia Lutters

Shawnee resident Lydia Lutters died Thursday at a local hospital. She was 84.

Mrs. Lutters was born March 23, 1914, in Carnegie to Shorty and Margaret Long. She married Richard O. Lutters on April 17, 1982, in Shawnee.

She attended schools in Geary and had lived in Shawnee since 1981. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Lutters, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jan McDaniel, Tacoma, Wash.; Ron and Nancy McDaniel, Knoxville, Texas; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Berringer, Escondido, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Bess Long, Geary; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Schwenk; and one brother, Orville Long.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church with Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Geary Cemetery, Geary, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Mildred Jane Lasenberry

Mildred Jane Lasenberry, 74, Aransas Pass, Texas, died Thursday at her home.

She was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Oklahoma to Claude and Jessie Branch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Lasenberry, in 1993.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Dale and Ann Lee, Macomb; Wayne and Donna Lasenberry, Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Bill Shinn, Aransas Pass, Texas; brother, Curtis Branch, Alamogordo, N.M., 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Prairie View Cemetery of Macomb under the direction of Charlie Marshall Funeral Home of Aransas Pass, Texas.

Robert E. Welch

Lifelong Shawnee resident Robert E. Welch died Thursday at a local hospital following a long illness. He was 57.

Welch was born June 14, 1941, in Shawnee to W.T. "Bud" Welch and Berta LaVaun Welch. He graduated from Shawnee High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965 and worked as an electronic technician at Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a member of the Northwest Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kari and Todd Brandon, Shawnee; son, Jon Welch, Shawnee; and granddaughter, Kallie Brandon, Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Hula Pearl Huey; and sister, Janice Welch.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating.

Levena C. Morris

Levena C. Morris of Tecumseh died Wednesday. She was 62.

She was born June 9, 1937, in Hennepin, Okla., to Elmer and Leona (Jones) Ealey.

When she was in third grade, she moved with her family to Tecumseh. From 1970 to 1975, she lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, but returned to Tecumseh in 1975, living there until her death.

She was a 1955 graduate of Tecumseh High School and attended Seminole Junior College, where she studied accounting.

She married John Abernathy in Seminole Aug. 24, 1957. He preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1975. She later married Bob Morris May 5, 1981, in Tecumseh.

She was the office manager of Shawnee Motor Supply for 23 years, and owned and operated L & B Ceramic Shop. She was a also a homemaker and mother.

She was a member of Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh and a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Chuck Abernathy and Randy Morris, as well as her parents.

Surviving are her husband, Bob Morris of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Johnece and Jesse Jones of Fort Knox, Kent.; Rhonda and Jack Chonister of El Reno; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Joanie Morris of Winchester, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Mary Lee Ealey of Shawnee; a sister and brother-in-law, Jannie Vea and Clay Hall of Biloxi, Miss.; five grandchildren, Andrew Jones, Alisha Morris, Angela Morris, Scott Arrasmith, Jaran Arrasmith, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family has designated Central Hospice of Norman as appropriate for memorials. Contact Amy, 579-8565.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Church of Christ with Bob Anderson and Brett McKnight officiating. Burial will follow in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

The casket will remain open at the funeral home until 1 p.m. Monday and will not be opened at church.

Anita O'Neal

Tecumseh resident Anita O'Neal, 20, died Friday in Seminole.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Prague. Further arrangements are pending under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Donald Wesley Smotherman

Former Tecumseh resident Donald Wesley Smotherman died Wednesday in Austin, Texas. He was 74.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home. Further arrangements will be announced.

Bernice B. Lemley

Longtime Seminole resident Bernice B. Lemley died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was 82.

Mrs. Lemley was born Dec. 18, 1917, in Wagoner. She married Jack A. Lemley on Aug. 17, 1943, in Oklahoma City. She was a secretary and member of First Christian Church, where she served as church treasurer, chairman of worship and deacon.

She was a member and past president of the Seminole BPW. She was a member of Preceptor Beta Xi, Beta Sigma Phi sorority and Seminole Ladies Golf Association. She had been a member of Seminole Duplicate Bridge Club since its beginning and attained the rank of national master in 1981.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Gayle Howard, Topeka, Kan.; Linda and Mike Carter, Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren, Scotti Floyd Edgar, Dustin Brown, Courtney Fowler, Heather Howard, Kristopher Fowler; brother, Howard Brady, Oklahoma City; two sisters, Anna Mae Dunaway, Topeka, Kan.; and Eunice Talley, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Seminole, with Dr. James D. Sill Sr. officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday in Resthaven Memory Gardens, 119th and Western in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
