Lydia P. Wilson

Konawa resident Lydia P. (Coursey) Wilson died Thursday. She was 89.

Mrs. Wilson was born March 29, 1910, in Frederick to Katie D. and Andrew R. Coursey. She married Robert F. Wilson Oct. 20, 1928, in Konawa.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Konawa since 1922. She was a member of the Konawa First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Dorothy Wilson, Odessa, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Nelma and Gene Burns, Konawa; daughter, Kathryn L. Straughn, Oklahoma City; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin E. and Eula Coursey, Ada; sister, Ruby Winlock, Maud; sister-in-law, Audrey Coursey, Albuquerque, N.M.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, Martin Audrey Coursey and Oron Joseph Coursey.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Konawa. Burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home.

Eugene Preston Walker

Eugene Preston Walker died Friday. He was 71.

Walker was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Mt. Park, Okla., to William Dudley and Leota Harles Walker.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked most of his life as a Union carpenter, Local 329.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; daughters, Pat Rose, Moore; Billie Jo McPerryman, Cromwell; sons, Tommy, Steve and Lloyd Walker, all of Tecumseh; Frankie Walker, Konawa; Kevin Walker, Nicoma Park; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Ingram and Lillian Russell, both of Choctaw; Mildred Vinson, Macomb; Dorothy Beal, Nicoma Park; Leota Settlemire, Enid; brothers, Otis Walker, Crescent; Virgil Walker, Guthrie; mother, Leota Walker, Nicoma Park.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Dudley Walker; and brothers, William R., Fred and Jody Walker.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in Choctaw.

Jo Ann Lewis

Shawnee resident Jo Ann Lewis died Thursday at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 64.

Mrs. Lewis was born April 12, 1935, in Ada to Hugh and Emily Simpson. She attended Ada Schools and was a licensed practical nurse at Independence Manor before retirement. She married James Lewis in 1951 in Ada.

Survivors include her husband, James Lewis, of the home; children, Darrell Lewis, Michael Forback, Jeffery Lewis, Robert Lewis and Phillip Lewis, all of Shawnee; Pony Lewis, Tuttle; Melissa Kilcrease, Ada; brother, LeRoy Simpson, Noble; sister, Faye Willwant, California; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating.

Lottie Ladford Boyd

Shawnee resident Lottie Ladford Boyd died Friday at a local hospital. She was 68.

Mrs. Boyd was born March 17, 1931, in Shawnee to James and Mary Pierman. She attended Shawnee High School and was an employee of Parkview Nursing Home and Independence Manor. She was later a cashier at Wards.

Survivors include her five children, Larry Ledford, Claudia Hileman, both of Shawnee; Linda Ramey, Tecumseh; Donna Weaver, Seminole; Bobby Ledford, Macomb; 10 grandchildren and three brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. DuWayne Colvin officiating.

Arvona May Bunch

Arvona May Bunch of Chandler died Friday. She was 74.

She was born May 16, 1925, in Wellston to Elmer P. and Nellie Faye (Frost) Bone.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chandler and was an active member of the Grandmother's Program in Canadian, Okla., before moving to Chandler.

Arvona and Pat Bunch were married Nov. 25, 1942, in Muskogee and he preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1986.

Her parents, two daughters and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda Kay Bernett of Claremore; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Arlene Montgomery of Chandler; other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Chandler with the Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Aaron Holloway

Aaron Holloway of Shawnee died Thursday in a local nursing home. He was 72.

He was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Wanette to Henry and Fay Holloway and attended school at Wanette. He was raised in Wanette and had lived in Shawnee since 1952.

He worked for C and H Wholesale, the city of Shawnee, and the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. He was also a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.

Holloway a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Surviving are a sister, Berniece Bodine of Oklahoma City; a sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Galvin Larman of Shawnee; a sister-in-law, Daisy Holloway of Smithon, Ill.; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Bert Virgil Pipken

Bert Virgil Pipken died Friday in Shawnee. He was 78.

Pipken was born April 8, 1921, in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., the son of Bert Virgil Sr. and Bessie (Parkes) Pipken. He attended school in Evansville, Ind., and moved to Cromwell where he was a retired machinist and rancher for more than 25 years. He was a member of the Cromwell Baptist Church.

He married Ruth Shultz Nov. 2, 1946, in Evansville. She preceded him in death Dec. 1, 1991. He married Ruth Baird Aug. 21, 1993, in Meeker.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, George and Paul Henry and two sisters, Betty and Clarice.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Pipken of the home; two stepsons and wives, David and Reba Baird of Meeker; Bert and Janis Baird of Edmond; three stepdaughters and husbands, Becky and Fred Thomson of Evansville, Ind.; Alta and Tommy Dalton of Broken Arrow; Cherrie Smith of McLoud; two brothers, Larry and Margie Pipken of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; Jack Pipken of Evansville, Ind.; three sisters, Julie Opperman and Dorothy Allred, both of Hawesville, Kent.; Ruby Mitchell of Clearfield, Utah.

Viewing and visitation will be in the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker until 8 p.m. Sunday.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bearden Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Allen officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Funeral Home in Prague.

Adele Tino

Adele Tino of Tecumseh died Thursday. She was 83.

She was born March 23, 1916, in New York City to Giuseppe and Teresa (Curlo) Politi.

During her youth, she attended various Catholic Schools and boarding schools. She married Michael Tino in Yonkers, N.Y., on Dec. 21, 1941.

She worked in New York as a dressmaker in a blouse factory that her parents owned and operated. She and her husband retired to Las Vegas, Nev., in 1984 and later moved to Tecumseh in January 1999.

She was a Roman Catholic and was a member of the U.S. Humane Society, the International Fund for Animal Welfare and the Doris Day Animal League.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Politi.

Surviving are her husband, Michael Angelo Tino of the home; a daughter, Carole Ellen O'Neill of Tecumseh; granddaughter and spouse, Kelley and Gerald Grandstaff of Tecumseh; two great-grandchildren, Celeste and Kristen Grandstaff of Tecumseh.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Glen Pence officiating. Burial is at Palm Valley View Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nev.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Inez M. Rice

Long Beach, Calif., resident Inez M. Rice died Monday at a Wildomar, Calif., hospital. She was 85.

Mrs. Rice was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Tutweiler, Miss. She was a child care worker for Bethany Baptist Church in California. She had lived in California for the past 54 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Meek, Tucson, Ariz.; Nancy Young, Anaheim, Calif.; son, Michael Rice, Murrieta, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were 1 p.m. Friday in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Darryl Ray Alsip

Darryl Ray Alsip of Shawnee died Wednesday. He was 39.

He was born Aug. 4, 1959, in Shawnee to Bob and Cora Alsip. He attended Maud High School and Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech. He was an appliance repairman for A&A Appliances, and of Presbyterian faith.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Cora Alsip; grandmothers Della Stewart and Estelle Alsip; his grandfather Jim Corbett Alsip and uncle, Jerry Alsip.

Surviving are two daughters, Renea Williamson and Karlotta Alsip, both of Seminole; a son, Joshua Alsip of Seminole; his father, Bob Alsip of Shawnee; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sharon Miller of Tecumseh; Lynn Alsip of Earlsboro; Darla and Ronnie Robbins of Shawnee; Marlene and Steve Haynes of Ada; a grandson, Brian Williamson of Seminole; grandfather Floyd Harjo of Wewoka; two nieces and seven nephews.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Romulus Cemetery Billy Merritt officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Col. Earl Hilton Holland

Col. Earl Hilton Holland of Scottsdale, Ariz., died April 4. He was 84.

He was born in Shawnee and was a retired colonel in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Legion of Merit in the U.S. Army, Good Conduct Metal, and Retired Officer's Association.

He worked for the Small Business Administration.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth B. Holland of the home; a son, George; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Phoenix, Ariz.

Arrangements are under the direction of A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuaries Bethany Chapel.

Lee Oxley Guinn

Lee Oxley Guinn of Shawnee died Tuesday in a local nursing home. She was 92.

She was born Aug. 22, 1906, in Tarter, Okla., to Howard and Purley Oxley and attended school in Tarter. She was a graduate of the first class of licensed practical nurses at the old City Hospital.

She married Earl J. Guinn on Sept. 17, 1922, in Konawa, Oklahoma and moved to Shawnee in 1929.

She was a member of the North East Free Will Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband on Dec. 22, 1986; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vesta and Lewis Sparks; Earlene Perry and George Haas; four brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Beulah and Robert Kinnamon of Shawnee; Beatrice Haas of Konawa; Wanda and Houston Sangster of Earlsboro; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Francis Oxley of Millcreek, Okla.; one sister, Essie Johnson of Dunnigan, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Helen Oxley, Tecumseh.

Friends may meet with the family from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at University Baptist Church, 2515 N. Kickapoo.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Waldo Young and Rev. Delbert Akin. Burial is at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
