Donald Gene Sloat

Donald Gene Sloat died Wednesday in Grand Prairie, Texas after a lengthy illness.

He was born Oct. 17, 1963.

Preceding him in death were his maternal and paternal grandparents, and one brother, Robert William Sloat.

Surviving are a daughter, Morgan Elaine of Irving, Texas; his father and mother, Arthur Wayne and Karen Sloat of Irving; a sister, Lorraine McBride of Irving; a brother, Douglas Sloat of Louisville, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Sherrill and Eric Fritsch; aunt and uncle, Newton and Marianne Sloat, Shawnee; aunt Jeanne Criss of Shawnee; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home in Irving, Texas.

Cree Angel Maneiro

Cree Angel Maneiro, infant daughter of Christina McKane and Robert Maneiro, died Wednesday at Carl Albert Indian Hospital.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Chapel at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Chaplain Jeff Frazier officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Hattie Mae Eggar

Hattie Mae Eggar of Eufaula, former resident of Wolf for 42 years, died Monday in a Tecumseh nursing home at the age of 92.

She was born July 4, 1905, in Eldon, Mo., to John Toliver and Kitty Bell (Wheaton) Snelling. She married Eley O. Eggar on Feb. 7, 1922, in Eufaula. She lived in Wolf from 1926 to 1968, then moved to Eufaula. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eley T. and Janice Eggar, Watonga; five daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Ed Galloway, Bella Vista, Ark.; Elsie and Philip Sales, Oklahoma City; Carolyn and Jim Copeland, Eufaula; Patsy and Roy Gentry, Holdenville; and Barbara and Delbert Aldridge, Seminole; sister Telena Gilliland, Chowchilla, Calif.; sister-in-law Dellie Snelling, Atwater, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with the Rev. David Karges officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.

Letha Elisabeth Maize

Longtime Shawnee resident Letha Elisabeth Maize died Monday in a local nursing home. She was 94.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Walter officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery. The family will have visitation at the chapel from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

Mrs. Marley was born Oct. 31, 1903, in Love County to John and Callie (Sorrels) Marley. She married Henry Wright Maize Aug. 12, 1923, in Shawnee and was a homemaker. They lived in several towns in Oklahoma and moved back to Shawnee in May 1937.

Mrs. Maize was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Shawnee where she taught children's Sunday school classes, substituted in other classes and taught in vacation Bible schools for many years.

Surviving are her daughters and a son-in-law, Cordelia (Maize) Lakin, Shawnee; Elisabeth (Maize) Little, Fremont, Calif.; Mary Ellen (Maize) and Edward Nunes, Fremont, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1975; her parents; four brothers, Henry, Jerry, Paul and Bill Marley, and two sons-in-law, Edward "Eddie" Lakin and Elmer "Bill" Little.

Otis Warren Hamilton

Otis Warren Hamilton died Tuesday at his home in Carney. He was 45.

He was born in Clayton on June 22, 1952, the son of A.C. and Della Mae (Ray) Hamilton. He had lived in the Carney area since 1971 and had worked as a driver for UPS. He attended First Assembly of God Church of Carney. He married Sue Skaggs on Oct. 10, 1971.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, of the home; two daughters, Amy Sanders, Crestview, Fla.; Misty Bellinger, Carney; one grandchild; four brothers, James Hamilton, Sapulpa; Acie Hamilton, Tulsa; Johnny Hamilton, Keystone; Robert Hatcher, The Colony, Texas; four sisters, Laura Ann Lawrence, Janie Poole, both of Tulsa; Pattie Dyer, Broken Arrow; Mary Blankenship, Carney, and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Carney High School gymnasium with the Rev. Darrell Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Carney Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Ethel Cornelius

Wewoka resident Ethel Cornelius died Tuesday at the age of 68.

She was born in Seminole County on Feb. 11, 1930, the daughter of Thomas Little and Losanna Harjo. She attended Eufaula Boarding School. The family moved to the Sylvain community, then Tulsa, Texas, and back to Oklahoma.

She married Val Cornelius in Henryetta on June 20, 1975. She had lived in Wewoka for many years.

She was preceded in death in by her parents; her husband, Val; one son, Don Cornelius; two sisters, Amanda Little Harjo, Ester Little Martin, and one brother, Clarence Bill Little.

Survivors include her son, James Cornelius, Wewoka; two daughters, Rosanna Coody, Seminole; Jessica Burten, Bowlegs; brother, Charles Little, Shawnee; 24 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Stout Funeral Home Chapel, Wewoka, with the Rev. John Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at the Harjo family cemetery.

Emery Jasper Presley

Emery Jasper Presley died Wednesday at his home in Seminole. He was 80.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole. The Rev. Fred Morrison will officiate.

Emery Jasper Presley was born Dec. 8, 1918, the son of Frank James Presley and Eula Houch. He was a lifelong resident of Seminole and a member of the Church of Christ.

He married Opal Anabell Hoover in Seminole on Aug. 11, 1940, and retired in 1982 from the oil field.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Anabell Presley, in 1994; a brother, James Lon Presley, and a granddaughter, Rena Craft.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, James Sr. and Judy Presley, Eufaula; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and John Craft, Seminole; grandchildren, Chris Fuller, Seminole; James Presley Jr., Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Bill Presley, Noble; sister, Mildred Caves, Noble, and many other relatives including a niece, Janice Vickers, Enid.

Viola Bertha Bowers

Former Stroud resident Viola Bertha Bowers died Thursday in Broken Arrow at the age of 85.

She was born in Milfay on Sept. 13, 1913, the daughter of J.L. and Charlotte Batchelor.

She was a homemaker and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Stroud where she served as Sunday school teacher and director and was a member of Women's Missionary Union. At the time of her death she was a member of First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow.

She married Alvin Bowers in Depew on July 11, 1933. They lived in Stroud one year and in Oklahoma City for 13 years. They lived in Stroud from 1945 to 1971, then managed the Holiday Mobile Home Park in Tulsa.

Upon retirement, they moved to the family farm in Milfay for a year and returned to Tulsa. They moved to Broken Arrow in 1985.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and James Patton, Broken Arrow; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kimberly and Mike Roark, Broken Arrow; great-grandchildren, Ginger Ann and Nicholas Roark, Broken Arrow.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Stroud with the Rev. McClain Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow in Stroud Cemetery.

Wesley William Roodhouse

Wesley William Roodhouse, 82, of Dallas and Cedar Creek Lake, Texas, died Thursday after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born Jan. 23, 1917, in Cushing and attended San Diego State University, the University of Oklahoma and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and, in 1945, joined Chicago & Southern Airlines in Memphis, Tenn. In 1953, he joined Collins Radio Company in Richardson, Texas, and was named executive vice president and member of the board in 1969.

He continued as executive vice president when the company merged with Rockwell in 1971. He retired in 1985. He also was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 5-14, Cedar Creek Lake.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Dorothy Dale Roodhouse.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Glenna Belvin Roodhouse, Cedar Creek Lake, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie Roodhouse Slama and Ronald Slama, Aubrey, Texas; Gail Roodhouse Calder and Curtis Calder, Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Reynolds Seltzer and Robert Seltzer, Dallas, Texas; Benjamin William Calder, John Wesley Calder, both of Austin, Texas; brother Clyde Roodhouse, Seattle, Wash.; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Maureen Dale, Shawnee; Melba Belvin McIlvain, Richardson, Texas, and stepchildren and stepgrandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Restland Memorial Chapel, Dallas. Memorials may be made to Cedar Creek Lake Humane Society, Box 43531, Seven Points TX 75143 or to Dallas Area Parkinsonism Society, 3003 LBJ Freeway, Suite 125E, Dallas TX 75234-7755.

Daisey Irene (Morris) Dawson

Former Shawnee resident Daisey Irene (Morris) Dawson died Thursday at a Gunter, Texas, nursing home. She was 89.

She was born May 25, 1909, to Bayard and Sunset (Smith) Morris in Henderson, Ark.

She married Bill Dawson on June 1, 1933, in Holdenville. They lived in several towns in this area, including Wewoka and Shawnee where Bill Dawson worked as a welder for Sinclair Oil Co. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 10, 1991; an infant son, Harry; a sister, Eudora Posey; and three brothers, John Morris, Ivan Morris, and Otho Morris.

Surviving included her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Rosemary Dawson, Richardson, Texas; grandchildren, Dan and Cindy Dawson, Bryan, Texas; Mary and Danny Gross, Athens, Ga.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Monroe Pettyjohn, Shawnee; Helen and Ray Vickery, Stroud; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Howard and Judy Morris, San Jacinto, Calif., and Ted Morris, Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel under the direction of her nephews. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Pearl Ailey

Pearl Ailey, Meeker, died Thursday at a local nursing home. She was 94.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Don Gibson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

She was born March 3, 1904, in Harrison, Ark., to William Riley Crow and Sally (Pruit) Crow. She attended Flat Rock School in Arkansas.

She married Zack Ailey in Shawnee in July 1932 and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist and a member of a home demonstration club. She had lived in the Shawnee area since 1931.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a grandson, Howard Ailey; seven brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Connie and Jeneva Ailey, Meeker; grandsons, Randy Ailey, Meeker; Keith Ailey, Ada, eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Clarence Duncan

Clarence Duncan, Prague, died Thursday. He was 85.

He was born Aug. 17, 1913, in Sparks, the son of William Cullen and Beulah (Stelle) Duncan. He was retired from Macklandburg Duncan, where he worked as a leadman.

He was a member of the View of The Cross Freewill Baptist Church in Prague and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Philena Russell on Feb. 12, 1947, in Stroud.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Philena Duncan, of the home; one son, Roscoe Duncan of Shawnee; one daughter, Lisa Hibdon, Sand Springs; three brothers, Don Duncan, Tulsa; Bob Duncan of Paden; and Wayne Duncan of Oklahoma City.; four sisters, Martina Alexander of Stoud; Geneva Hyatt of Garland, Texas; Pearl Hamblin and Meryl Janota, both of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague. Burial will be at Prague Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Irene (Smalley) Sowers

Irene Smalley Sowers of Seminole died Saturday at her home. She was 88.

She was born Oct. 21, 1911, in Willard, Okla., to Grant Everett and Lilburn (Higgins) Smalley.

She married Raymond Sowers on May 20, 1939, in Laverne. He preceded her in death March 10, 1990.

She was a retired teacher and homemaker, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.

Surviving are four nephews, three nieces and one brother, Everett Smalley of Fort Pierce, S.D.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Karges officiating.

Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
