Odell Bolin

Former Seminole resident Odell Bolin of Ada died Friday at his home. He was 74.

He was born Oct. 14, 1925, to Willie Bolin and Minnie Hopson.

He married Geraldine Burnett March 28, 1944. She preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 1985 in Texas.

Bolin worked as a butcher and was manager of the meat department at Humpty Dumpty Grocery Store, as well as Scrivner and Bogart Grocery.

He was a Baptist.

Bolin served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Service Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal and the Philippine Liberation ribbon with one Bronze star.

Surviving are two daughters, Patty Raba of Oklahoma City and Diane Milam of Bethel; a stepdaughter, Barbara Ann Black of Portland, Maine; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, with the DAV Chapter 85 conducting military honors.

Services are under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.

Anna Maurine Hale

Shawnee resident Anna Maurine Hale died Friday in a local nursing home. She was 79.

Mrs. Hale was born on March 11, 1920, in Davis, to Lon and Alma (Smith) Dickinson.

She married Mancil Hale on Feb. 15, 1942, in Shawnee.

She worked for Parkview Nursing Home for about 10 years prior to her retirement.

Mrs. Hale was a member of Temple Baptist church, and lived most of her life in Pottawatomie County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mancil Hale; an infant son, Lonnie Hale; her parents, Lon and Alma Dickinson; two brothers, Vernon and Lonnie Gene Dickinson; and a sister, Lena Washington.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda J. Branson, Midwest City; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Jessie and Floyd Hunton, Prairie Grove, Ark.; Ruth Goodnight, Prague; Bessie Melton, Prague; Myrtle and Willie Hood, Shawnee; Alene Vasquez, Shawnee; Frankie and George Bland, Shawnee; two grandchildren, David and Holly Hamilton, both of Midwest City; three great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, in Johnson Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Brown officiating.

Services are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.

Paul Stanley Graves

Wanette resident Paul Stanley Graves died Thursday in a Norman hospital following an extended illness. He was 58.

Graves was born on Aug. 30, 1941, in Ryan, to Paul Harold and Jess Lee Graves.

He graduated from Ryan High School in 1959.

He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, Korea and Thailand, before his honorable discharge with the rank of E-5.

Graves married Vicki Florence on Jan. 8, 1977, in Oklahoma City.

He worked with Pitney-Bowes as a service technician. He had owned and operated Hot Stuff Steamers Inc. in Oklahoma City, and was a rancher. Graves also owned HSSI, and worked as a pneumatic tube technician.

Graves was a car racing champion, winning in 1967 at the San Antonio Speedway. He was a two-time world champion in 1983-84 in the Blown Alcohol Flat Bottom Boats, a two-time regional champion with the Southern Drag Boat Association, and a record holder in 1983 in the Blown Alcohol Flat Bottom.

He had lived in Wanette for the past nine years, and was a member of the Wanette Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Graves, of the home; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Curt Dyer, Austin, Texas; Paul M. and Denice Graves, Edmond; Danny Graves, Oklahoma City; Brian Graves, Thorton, Colo.; a sister, Patricia Lynn Pahdoco, Edmond; two grandchildren, Breanna Graves and Conner Graves, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, at Wadley's Funeral Chapel in Purcell with the Rev. Bertha Potts officiating.

Burial will be in Wanette Cemetery.

Billie L. Brown

Billie L. Brown, 58, Shawnee, died Friday at a local hospital.

She was born May 29, 1941, in Drumright. She was the daughter of William Benjamin Camden and Bettie Louise (Bush) Allen.

She graduated from Cushing High School and later attended Oklahoma State University. Brown worked as a security assistant at Tinker Air Force Base in the Security Reports and Analysis area.

She worked in that area for approximately 15 years. She was married to Harlin Brown on May 26, 1961, in Cushing.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the First Christian Church. She had lived in Shawnee since 1964.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, James Frank Allen; her mother, Bettie Louise (Bush) Camden Allen and her ex-husband, Harlin Brown.

Survivors include a son, Carl Brown, Shawnee; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina (Brown) Hall and Dewrell Hall, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Grace Hall, Makayla Brown and Makinsey Brown; a brother and sister-in-law, James Frank Allen and Kathy Allen, Yukon; two sisters, Alana Allen and Priscilla Allen, both of Oklahoma City; many other friends and family.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Hubert Gilbert officiating, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Avis McCaslin

Avis McCaslin died Sunday in Prague at the age of 86.

She was born Sept. 23, 1912, in Booneville, Ark., the daughter of James and Geneva (Bennyfield) Green. She married William Andrew McCaslin on Feb. 15, 1934, and he preceded her in death in 1981.

Mrs. McCaslin was a resident of Paden and a member of Freewill Baptist Church.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, two sons, one daughter, one sister and four brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Inita Raines; one son, Thurman McCaslin; one brother, Paul Green, Wainwright; one sister, Ethel Clarke, Hilton Head Island, S.C., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Paden. Burial will follow at Paden Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.

Mary Kate Rockwell

Longtime Seminole resident Mary Kate Rockwell of Shawnee died Tuesday at a Seminole hospital. She was 78.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

She was born Feb. 28, 1920, in Wewoka to Leonard H. and Mable C. (Potts) Kilgore. She married Clyde L. Rockwell Jr. in Seminole on Nov. 2, 1956. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Rockwell had been a proofreader for the Seminole Producer and retired in 1983. She had lived in Seminole most of her life and moved to Shawnee last year.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter and three brothers.

Surviving are her husband, Clyde L. Rockwell Jr., of the home; daughter, Trudy Ozeretny, Shawnee, and grandchildren, Rodney and Robin McGinnis, Glen Able, Kimberly Wares, Todd Marquis and Cory Ozeretny.

Peggy Sumner Smith

Former Shawnee resident Peggy Sumner Smith of Dallas, Texas, died Tuesday in Dallas at the age of 64.

She was born March 4, 1934, in Shawnee.

Survivors include her husband, Buddy Smith; daughter, Shaleen Weaver; daughter and son-in-law, Sherrill and Jack Bodie: brother, Neal Sumner; grandchildren Lori Sumner Lamar, Lisa Sumner, Erin and Carlin Bodie, and Whitney and Travis Averill, and many other relatives.

Memorial service will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas.

Fred Parker

Fred "Sug" Parker died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. He was 85.

Parker was born June 14, 1913, in Payson, Okla., to Daniel and Rosa (Anderson) Parker.

He was a veteran of the Army and served during World War II. He worked as a maintenance worker for many years.

Survivors include his daughters, Melba Joseph and Glenda Jackson, both of Oklahoma City; Freddie Mae Williams, Carrollton, Texas; brothers, Waymon Parker, Oklahoma City; Cordia Tubbs, Tulsa; sisters, Melinda Nash, Oklahoma City; Irene Roberson, Chandler; nine grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler, with Lee Lee Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Clearview Cemetery, Chandler.

Robert L. Hart

Shawnee resident Robert L. Hart died Wednesday at a local nursing home. He was 92.

Hart was born April 11, 1907, in Macon, Mo., to Albert and Carrie Hart. He was raised in Arkansas and married Margaret Mattingly March 2, 1929, in Chandler.

He was a retired jet engine inspector at Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Gene Cooke, Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Charlene Hart, Lubbock, Texas; three granddaughters, Cindy Cooke, Oklahoma City; Debbie and Allan Baker, Choctaw; Marcia and Kenneth Perry, Lubbock, Texas; and one great-granddaughter, Kristin Perry, Lubbock, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on Dec. 18, 1991; his son, sister and brother.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:10 p.m. today at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Chester Satterfield

New Castle, Wyo., resident Chester Satterfield died Tuesday in Casper, Wyo. He was 82.

Satterfield was born Jan. 17, 1918, in Okmulgee to William T. and Cora (Maddox) Satterfield.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lovone and Jim Howe; Claudia and Ray Pirkins, Casper, Wyo.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lena Blakley and Ethel Neal, both of Shawnee; brothers, Jack Satterfield, Oklahoma City; Carl Satterfield, Macomb; Robert Satterfield, Sublet, Kan.; James Satterfield, Filmore, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena, a daughter, his parents and three brothers.

Services will be held Saturday in New Castle, Wyo.
