Betty Jean (King) Marshall

Services for Betty Jean (King) Marshall were held March 13, 2004 at the Guardian West Funeral Home Chapel in Oklahoma City.

Betty was born southeast of Ripley, Okla. June 27, 1925 to Dow and Mary Iva (Waller) King. Her family moved to Cushing and Betty graduated with the class of 1943 at the Cushing High School.

She married Max Marshall after WWII and they established a home in Oklahoma City, where Southwestern Bell Telephone Company employed them both.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Tommy King; two sisters, Pauline Huertas and Virginia Mitchell.

She is survived by one sister, Imogene Shirley of Oklahoma City and one brother, Jerry King of Mayhill, New Mexico, also many nieces and nephews.

After retirement, she and her husband were volunteers for the Red Cross in Oklahoma City and she continued to volunteer after his death.

A retired Red Cross official gave a lengthy tribute to the life of Betty and her daily hours over many years of volunteer work.

The last two years, she lived with her sister, Imogene, who gave her loving care.

Lisa (Mudge) Knigge

Lisa (Mudge) Knigge, 36, of Cushing, died Nov. 23, 2004, at Central Wyoming Hospice Home.

She was born June 26, 1968, in Casper. She was the daughter of Robert Meril and Sybil Artil (Eckard) Mudge; was raised and educated there; graduated from Natrona County High School, and attended Casper College. She worked in physical therapy at Wyoming Medical Center. On Jan. 14, 1989, she married Nick Knigge at St. Stephen's.

She went to work as the safety coordinator with her husband at the Knigge family business., Mel's Water Service. In 2001, the family moved to Cushing. As a safety coordinator and Hasmat trainer, she taught employees of several companies.

Her husband died on June 26, 2004, in a helicopter crash in Cushing.

Known as a great mother, she loved to be with her children. She watched them play in all types of sports, and participated in moto-cross racing with them. Other interests included gardening, fishing and camping.

Survivors include four children, Amber, Lance and Melisa Knigge, all of the family home, and Chris Knigge and his wife of Casper; mother, Sybil Keeler of Mills; sister, Darla Laatsch and her husband of Jamul, Calif.; brother, Evan Mudge of Casper; stepsister, Amy Poelma and her husband of Carpenter; paternal grandmother, Edna Mudge of Thermopolis; and two grandsons.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father.

Services for Lisa was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Casper by Fr. Bob Spencer.

Memorials may be made to the Knigge Children Education Trust Fund, Bank of Cushing, P.O. Box 951, Cushing, OK 74023.

Earl J. Lambert

Earl J. Lambert was born on Aug. 8, 1923 near Cushing, Okla. to William and Callie (Truelove) Lambert. He passed from this life on Nov. 21, 2004 at the Pushmataha County Medical Center in Antlers, Okla.

Earl grew up in the Waygoza and Ripley communities and graduated from Cushing High School. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army as an Army Scout. After he returned from the European Theatre he was married to the former Miss Wilma Lorine Boswell on May 8, 1946 in Chandler, Okla. To this union three children were born.

Earl and Wilma made their home in Cushing where he worked for Arkla Gas company. He retired as a foreman of a line crew in 1985. Wilma preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2000. They were active members of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church.

Earl enjoyed sitting outside in his swing, doing things with his family, frying hamburgers at the VFW and bowling. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. Earl loved his Lord, Family, Country, and Flag.

Earl was also preceded in death by his parents and brother Bill Lambert. Those he leaves behind include:

Nine Great Grandchildren Richadeena Dillishaw, Zachery Dillishaw, Callie Allen, Garrett Cook, Caleb Cook, Kori Travis, Kahle Lambert, Mykenzie Cook, BrookAnn Dillishaw.

His brother Everett and wife Della Lambert of Possum Kingdom Lake, Texas and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the Palmer and Marler Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 24, 2004, with Rev. John Baumert officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Euchee

Valley Memorial Park under the direction of the Palmer and Marler Funeral Home of Cushing. Serving as casket bearers will be Eddie Claxton, Kenny Wood, Kevin Allen, Heath Lambert John Earl Dillishaw, and Allen Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Travis, Zachery Dillishaw and Aaron Cook.

Carole Jean Arnold

Carole Jean Arnold, 60, resident of Cushing for 18 years, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004.

She was the daughter of the late Elmer Washington Holder and Iris Rosemary (Bond) Holder, longtime residents of Drumright. Carole was born Nov. 7, 1944 in Drumright, where she was reared and educated.

Carole was united in marriage to Thomas Andrew Arnold on July 28, 1967 in Drumright.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Thomas Andrew Arnold of Cushing; one daughter, Heaven Lee Arnold of Cushing; two sisters, Darla S. McPherson of Cushing and Donna L. Wozniale of Tulsa; two grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.

Jack Loy Wickett

Jack Loy Wickett, 73, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 at his home in Warner, Okla. He was born Aug. 27, 1931 in Muskogee, Okla. to Charles and Jewel (Simpson) Wickett.

Jack worked as a truck driver for many years and enjoyed traveling all over the United States. He was a cattleman and had the opportunity to ride many rare horses. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jack loved spending time with his grandbabies and always had a special place in his heart for all children. His family and friends referred to him as just a "good old cowboy".

He is survived by his wife Rosie Marie of the home; four children, six step-children, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three sisters, six brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

A funeral service for Jack Loy Wickett will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 at the Bradley Chapel. The Rev. Ray Phillips will officiate.

The family has entrusted Bradley Family Funeral Service of Muskogee with the arrangements.

Robert Benjamin Hall

Robert Benjamin Hall was born September 30, 1926 in Cleveland, Okla. He was the son of Leonard Ethan and Edith (Billie) Hall. Bob was raised and attended school in Cleveland where he graduated from high school in 1944. During the summers while attending high school, Bob worked for his uncle in the wheat fields of Kan.

Shortly after graduation from high school, Bob entered into the service of his country in the United States Army Air Corp on February 11, 1944. He served honorably during World War II, receiving his discharge on September 30, 1946 and then returned to Cleveland.

After working in Tulsa for a short time, Bob accepted employment with the Johnson Oil Company at the local refinery in the pipeline division. When the company sold in 1956, Bob began a long career with Kerr-McGee Corporation. He was initially hired as foreman for the pipeline division in Cleveland. Bob was married to Shirley Ruth Morris on June 9, 1956 in Tulsa, Okla. The couple made their initial home in Cleveland until 1959 when Bob was transferred to Seminole as foreman of the pipeline division there. They remained in Seminole until 1962 when Bob was again transferred; this time to Sapulpa. After a few years in Sapulpa, Bob was promoted in 1967 to District Superintendent for Kerr McGee's Wynnewood operational area. In 1976, the couple moved to Cushing when Bob was named District Superintendent for the Drumright Division. He continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1991, after thirty-five years with the company.

Bob's devotion to his job and employer was evident in his desire to have everything in his control operating efficiently and effectively. Although his work was truly life, Bob still found time to enjoy his passion for hunting and fishing. He applied annually for a permit in Wyoming for big game hunts. In 1992, Bob shot a shot a trophy elk in the Wichita Mountains of Oklahoma and seemed satisfied with retiring from hunting at that time. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed taking his family and their friends on vacation. He also liked attending family reunions and reminiscing with his sisters and their families.

Bob passed away on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004 at his home in Cushing at the age of seventy-eight years, one month and twenty-eight days.

He was preceded in death by parents; three brothers, Jerry Ray Hall, Richard (Dickey) Hall and Alvin Thomas Hall; and a daughter, Anita Sue Hall Haber.

Bob is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Shirley Ruth Hall, of the home; daughter and her husband, Melissa and Don Amon, Cushing; step-grandchildren, Zach and Zane Amon, Cushing; five sisters, Anna May Brown, Cleveland, Okla., Joy Underwood, Tulsa, Okla., Martha Strand, Casper, Wyo., Marie Keeling, Cleveland, Okla. and Nancy DeLay of Wichita, Kan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland with Don Amon officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Salvation Army.

Joseph "Joe" Kime (Vet)

Joseph "Joe" Kime, 83 of Oilton, passes away Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 at the Resthaven Nursing Home in Cushing. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 at the Palmer and Marler Memorial Chapel, Oilton, Okla. Pastor Larry Schiller will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Palmer and Marler Funeral Chapel, Oilton.

Joe was born on March 20, 1921 in Oilton, Okla. to Woodson "Woody" and Gladys Kime. Joe was one of then siblings, growing up and attending Oilton Schools. Following his schooling, he joined the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his valor in action. After having served his country, he moved to Sarina, Ill. where he resided for 16 years and moved back to Oilton where he spent the rest of his life. He was a self employed Pipe Fitter having worked for various construction sites. Joe was a member of the VFW Post in Mannford and also the American Legion in Oilton. His friends and family knew his as a loving person who has a good sense of humor.

He is survived by his son Bruce Kime of New Castle, Colo. and his daughter Diane Kime of San Antonio, TX., several nieces and nephews, Wayne Kime, JoAnn Ferguson and G. W. Kime and various other relatives.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and eight brothers.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion in Oilton or the VFW Post in Mannford. C/O Palmer and Marler Funeral Home, Oilton.

Nellie Mae (Wallace) Creager

June 23, 1912 - Dec. 11, 2004

Nellie Mae (Wallace) Creager died on Saturday at the Rest Haven Nursing Center in Cushing she was 92-years old.

Funeral services for Nellie will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Town and Country Christian Church in Yale. Rev. Steve Holley will preside. Interment will follow at the Lawson Cemetery north of Yale.

Born June 23, 1912 in Jennings, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Homer and Laura Mae (Schultz) Wallace longtime residents of the Jennings and Yale areas.

Nellie attended school in Jennings. She was a cook by profession and worked many years in the Yale and Cushing area. Nellie was united in marriage to the late Arthur Ray Creager in 1933 who preceded her in death in 1986. Nellie made her home in Cushing in 1965. She was a kind and caring Christian to everyone and a very loving and considerate Mother and grandmother.

She prepared speedy and always-delicious meals for any loved one dropping by. She was a comforting and supporting influence in the life of all her family and friends. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Nellie was preceded in death by her 13-year old sister Eva in 1929, baby sister Fredia died at birth in 1921 and brothers Avery, Homer and Fred (Wallace) died in later years.

Two daughters, Dolores and husband Phil Lepert of Lincoln, Neb. and Marilyn Ledgerwood of Cushing survive her.

Survivors also include grandchildren, Teresa and Don Cross, Frank and Beverly Ledgerwood, Dan and Susan Ledgerwood, Stephanie and Eric Brandle, Chris and Johnna Ledgerwood of Cushing, David Porter and Shelley Wagner of Lincoln, Neb.

Great-grandchildren, Amber Griffeth, Greg Ledgerwood, Renae Pressley, Brian Ledgerwood, Franklin and Darrion Ledgerwood, Donnie and John Cross, Clinton and Celestine Hatfield, and Trevor and Tyler Brandle all of Cushing, as well as Jessica Brady and McKenzie Wagner of Lincoln, Neb. and Heather Pittman of Little Rock, Ark. Great-great-grandchildren include Caleb and Molly Pittman, Cora Lynn Ledgerwood, Elijah Pressley and Gracie Ledgerwood.

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Ledgerwood, Clinton Hatfield, Brian Ledgerwood, Franklin Ledgerwood, Donnie Cross, John Cross and Jason Griffith.

Funeral services will be under the direction of the Palmer and Marler Funeral Home of Cushing.
