Iva Mae Dayton Stanislav

Iva Mae Dayton Stanislav passed away. She was 85.

She was born Sept. 30, 1914, in Boynton. She was the daughter of Elmer William and Grace Elizabeth (Feken) Dayton.

Mrs. Stanislav attended rural schools in Noble county, worked as a waitress in several local Perry cafes as well as Marcy's Furniture Store. She married Louis Stanislav on May 13, 1933.

They owned and operated Stanislav's Grocery and Market from 1937-59. From 1960 until 1976, they owned and managed the Ranch Motel in Blackwell.

They retired to an acreage near Prague in 1976. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Prague, United Methodist Women, Business and Professional Women and previously a member of the United Methodist Churches in Perry and Blackwell.

After her husband's death, Mrs. Stanislav moved to Moore. She attended First Baptist Church and was a member of the senior adult Sunday school class.

Her husband, Louie Stanislav; her parents and her brother, Claude Dayton; preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Binnie Stanislav of Moore; daughter, Freda Dechant of Shawnee; grandchildren, Pam and Scot Campbell, Susan, Hector and son Daniel Alguindigue and Sarah Stanislav, all of Norman; Robert Dechant and son Brandon of Florida; Troy Dechant of Dallas; and Angel Greenhill and son Tye of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Floris Dayton; nieces, Diana Noteware and Claudine VanBebber, of Perry; nephew, Lorn Dayton of Colorado and many more family and friends.

Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Brown-Sisson Funeral Home in Perry with Pastor Marshall Howard officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Juanita Hopkins Knight

Shawnee resident Juanita Hopkins Knight died Thursday at her home. She was 75.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Reba A. Morse

Holdenville resident Reba A. Morse died Wednesday at a Holdenville hospital. She was 86.

She was born March 2, 1913, in Ashland, Okla., to Arthur B. Lokey and Ada P. (Smith) Lokey.

She married Kize E. Morse May 10, 1930, in Calvin, Okla. He preceded her in death Nov. 7, 1987.

Mrs. Morse was a homemaker and a Methodist. She worked for many years with the Companions Caring Volunteer Group, serving at Boyce Manor Nursing Home in Holdenville.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Chlouber, Shawnee; grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, Jeff Wall, Austin, Texas, and Dean Wall and Jeanne, Shawnee; great-grandson, David Kize Wall, Austin, Texas; step-great-grandchildren, Peter and Vilde Adams, Oklahoma City, Daniel and Julie Newton, Shawnee, Cheri Adams, Shawnee, and Robert Adams, Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends, including Marie Morris.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville with Bill Worden and Dr. Jim Morse officiating. Burial will be at Holdenville Cemetery.

Helen Stusnick

Helen Stusnick of Shawnee died Wednesday. She was 86.

She was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Kingston, Pa. She was the daughter of George Shutlock and Annie (Antanek) Shutlock.

She was married to Stanley Stusnick on July 5, 1941, in Newark, N.J. Mrs. Stusnick was a member of the Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley who died in 1978; two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and LeeAnn Stusnick, Shawnee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Jack Miehls, Redondo Beach, Calif.; Deborah and John Evans, San Pedro, Calif.; three grandchildren, Lauren Evans, Jacqueline Miehls and Christian Miehls.

Funeral services are pending with Brough Funeral Home of Summitt, N.J. Resthaven Funeral Home is in charge of information.

Joyce Adeline Goodman Freeman

Shawnee resident Joyce Adeline Goodman Freeman died Tuesday in Yuma, Ariz. She was 76.

Mrs. Freeman was born Sept. 14, 1923, in San Antonio, Texas to H.A. and Adeline (Williams) Goodman. She married Roy Z. Freeman Dec. 9, 1938, in Shawnee.

She attended school at Macomb and graduated from practical nursing school in 1964. She worked as a licensed practical nurse until her retirement.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Lester Hasbel, Shawnee; three granddaughters, Dana Myers, Shawnee; Gina Johnson, Newalla; Gayla Fine, Fort Worth, Texas; four great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; one sister, Billie McGinnis, Yuma, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Margaret Freeman, and two brothers, Ira and Arthur Goodman.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Crow officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Donald LaVoid Zachary

Seminole resident Donald LaVoid Zachary died Tuesday at his home. He was 67.

Zachary was born on Sept. 26, 1932, in Gum Springs to John F. and Ida Louise (Duckworth) Zachary Boydston.

He married Wynona Ann Beauford on Nov. 9, 1950, in Holdenville.

He worked as an agent for the Santa Fe Railroad and retired in 1979.

Zachary served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a member of the South Rock Creek Assembly of God, Masonic Lodge, Grange and the National Rifle Association.

He moved to Seminole in 1976 from Lyons, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Zachary.

Survivors include his wife, Wynona Ann Zachary, of the home; a son, Kevin Zachary, Scranton, Kan.; daughter, Donona S. Wajda, Coarsegold, Calif.; mother, Ida Boydston, Holdenville; brother, Hugh Zachary, Fayetteville, Ark.; a sister, Truma Bowen, Holdenville; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

No services are planned at this time.

Sherman Buckner

Sherman Buckner, Seminole, died Wednesday in a Seminole hospital. He was 86.

Buckner was born April 5, 1913, in Reed, to Robert Leonard and Lottie (Davis) Buckner.

He married Loette Higgins on July 15, 1938, in Altus.

He worked as a pharmacist for 15 years, and later as an insurance agent. He retired as state manager at Modern Woodmen of America Life Insurance.

Buckner attended First Baptist Church. He moved to Seminole 15 years ago from Mangum.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lottie Buckner; a twin brother, Herman Buckner; and a sister, Madora Hilley.

Survivors include his wife, Loette Buckner, of the home; two sons, Robert Bruce Buckner, Oklahoma City, and Sherman Wayne Buckner; a daughter, Brynda McCoy, Seminole; sister, Constance Whisler, Stillwater; five grandchildren, Brina Patrice Tignor, Damon Lee McCoy, Daphne McCoy-Schroder, Sophia Loette Molloy and Isabella Buckner; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with Dr. Kelvin Moseley and the Rev. David Karges officiating.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Orval Wesley Mullings

St. Louis resident Orval Wesley "Humpy" Mullings died Wednesday at a Shawnee hospital. He was 78.

Mullings was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Lindsay to Calvin Franklin and Anna Pearl (Ellis) Mullings. He married Joy D. Moore on Feb. 20, 1947, in Okmulgee.

He lived in the Okmulgee area for 46 years before moving to St. Louis in 1994. He worked as an auto body repairman for William H. Pine in Okmulgee. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Pearson Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joy D. Mullings, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Joyce Mullings, Pleasant Valley, Okla.; brother, Alvin Mullings, Maud; sister, Lanita Gallion, Tecumseh; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cummings Cemetery, Maud, under the direction of Knight Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Ingram officiating.

Loretta Barrett

Loretta Barrett died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. She was 73.

She was born May 9, 1926, in Kendrick. She was the daughter of Earl Ennis and Lille Beatric (Simon) Smith.

Barrett was a longtime resident of Davenport, was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Davenport. She married Clyde Barrett in Panhandle, Texas, on Aug. 11, 1946.

Her parents and one sister preceded her in death.

Survivors include husband, Clyde Barrett, of Davenport; one son, Clyde Barrett Jr., Tulsa; three daughters, Freda Ludy of Fremont, Ind.; Pam Mattheyer of Davenport; Carolyn Skinner of Purdy, Mo.; two sisters, Irene Cathers of Oklahoma City; Ruth Reed of Slidell, La.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Davenport, with the Rev. Michael Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at the New Zion Cemetery, Chandler, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Loyd E. Vulgamore, Sr.

Longtime Seminole resident Loyd E. Vulgamore Sr. died Tuesday in Odessa, Texas. He was 82.

He was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Seminole. The son of Joe Edmond Vulgamore and Ada Dell Brookshire Vulgamore.

He married Mabel Seifried on Nov. 1, 1941, in Seminole. He retired from the oilfield in 1982.

Vulgamore served in the Army for three years during World War II and in the medical corps in England for 13 months. He was a member of the First Church of God and a member of the American Legion Post of Seminole.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Vulgamore; son, Loyd Vulgamore Jr., Odessa, Texas; one brother, Andy Vulgamore, O'Donald, Texas; one sister, Mary Emdee, Pennsylvania; one grandson, Joe R. Vulgamore, Odessa, Texas and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Allen Wood officiating, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Daniel Ray Jones

Seminole resident Daniel Ray Jones died Saturday at his home. He was 23.

Jones was born Nov. 8, 1976, in Shawnee to Raymond "Ringo" Harjo and Geneva Lou Jones. He graduated from Maud High School in 1995 and was an All-State football player.

He was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud and was a sophomore at Northeastern Oklahoma University.

Survivors include his parents, Geneva L. Jones and Ringo Harjo, of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Sherrie and David Walker, Oklahoma City; sister, Crystal Springwater, Weatherford; two nieces, two nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Wake services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the family home, two miles east and one-forth mile south of Little. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hitchittee Methodist Church, five miles east and one-half mile north of Little, with the Rev. Herschel Davis officiating.

Visitation will be until 4 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home, then after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Jones Family Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
