William B. Combs

Seminole resident William B. "Billy" Combs died Friday at a Tulsa hospital. He was 44.

Combs was born Nov. 30, 1955, in Shawnee to Bill Combs and Bertha (Friend) Combs. He married Cheryl Lynn Garrett Dec. 11, 1976.

He attended Shawnee Schools and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as assistant manager of Winn Dixie and had worked at Canadian Valley Electric and for the State of Oklahoma. He was a member of Central Church of Christ, Shawnee.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl and daughter Jeannette, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, April and Patrick Factor and grandson Dakota Factor, all of Wewoka; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Teresa Combs; sister, Pamela Flores; grandmother, Bessie Hardesty, Shawnee; niece, Jacinda Combs, Tahlequah; nephew and wife, Todd and Sheri Combs, great-nephews, Joshua and Justin Combs of Sand Springs; niece and husband, Danielle and Clayton Seaborn, Shawnee; nephew, Jeremy Suter, Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandfather and an uncle.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Church of Christ, Shawnee.

Gladys M. Way

Longtime Meeker resident Gladys M. Way died Thursday in Shawnee. She was 94.

Mrs. Way was born June 14, 1905, in Everton, Mo. to Thomas Franklin and Ollie (Smith) Sims. She married Robert C. Way on April 12, 1921 in Chandler.

She attended the First Christian Church in Meeker.

Survivors include her son, Robert G. Way, Midwest City; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Mary Lou Way, Meeker; brother, Albert Sims, Midwest City; sister, Hazel Falwell, Del City; nine grandchildren, Maxson Way, Sherry Wilfong, Christy Coleman, Deborah Tarpenning, Richard Way, Robb Way, Randy Way, Linda Sue Way and James Robert Way; 18 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Sept. 26, 1983; three sisters and one granddaughter.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church of Meeker with the Rev. Glen Walters officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery, Meeker, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler. Viewing will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Meeker.

Johnnie E. (Foresee) Davis

Mrs. Johnnie E. (Foresee) Davis, Shawnee, died Monday in Choctaw. She was 74.

Mrs. Davis was born April 10, 1925, in Eufaula, the daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Briscoe) Foresee.

She married Roy Stephen Davis, and had lived in Shawnee most of her life.

Mrs. Davis worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and Keller Feed Store.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she volunteered to drive a van for the disabled, a member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneer Club and a 50-year member of the Murrow Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Davis; a son; her parents, Andrew and Margaret Foresee; two brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include her grandson, Stephen Davis; niece, Joyce Barrett, Choctaw; nephew, Warren Gene Haley, Pink; and five grand-nephews.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee, with the Rev. Rusty Williams officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Ivan Keith Dedmon

Ivan Keith Dedmon died Friday at his home in Yukon after a long battle with neuro fibromatosis. He was 41.

Dedmon was born Aug. 9, 1958, in Oklahoma City and was raised in the McLoud area. He attended McLoud Schools and had worked as a builder and handyman.

He was a member of Mustang Assembly of God and had lived in Yukon since 1992.

Survivors include his parents, Lesley and Mary Dedmon, McLoud; sister, Regina Gail Wells, McLoud; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca Lynn and Bryan Borchers, Wylie, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Debbie Dedmon, Winter Garden, Fla.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Mustang Assembly of God. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service.

Memorials may be made to Neuro Fibromatosis Research, in care of McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, P.O. Box 1616, Mustang, OK 73064.

D.W. Wolfe

Shawnee resident D.W. Wolfe died Saturday in Shawnee. He was 86.

He was born Aug. 22, 1913, in Sacred Heart to William Jacob Wolfe and Martha (Curley) Wolfe.

He married Elsie Mae Clark in 1938.

Wolfe worked in the oil fields until 1964, and he then moved to Kansas City, Kan., and worked for Columbian Steel Co. He lived in Shawnee since 1974, and prior to that he lived in Kansas City, Kan. After moving to Shawnee in 1974, he began working for the OG&E Hand in Hand program.

He was a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation and was active in the Citizen Potawatomi Nation's affairs.

Survivors include his sons, Glen Doris Wolfe, Tommy Lynn Wolfe, Rickey Lee Wolfe, all of Oklahoma City, William Edward Wolfe, Eufaula, and Dallas Ray Wolfe, Kansas City, Kan.; daughters, Jeanette Groman and Judy Jones, both of Shawnee; sisters, Nettie Poyner, Fayetteville, Ark., Viola Cavender, Durant, and Lucille Hughes, Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, Willie Wolfe, Fayetteville, Ark.; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons, Larry Joe Wolfe and Stephen Dwayne Wolfe; one grandson, Randy King Jones II; two brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Max Packer officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Charles Helton Jr.

Charles Helton Jr. of Shawnee died Sunday at his residence. He was 70.

He was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Watonga, the son of Charles Jackson Helton and Rebecca E. (Hamilton) Helton.

He attended school in El Reno and was married to Carol Sue Stingley-Danker in March of 1958 at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida.

Helton, who retired from the U.S. Air Force June 30, 1970, with the rank of master sergeant, began his military career when he enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard in October 1947.

He served with the 45th Division, Company B, 179th Infantry, as a rifleman. He attained the rank of private first class and was honorably discharged in June 1948.

Helton enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. on Nov. 9, 1949, at Oklahoma City, completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, in January 1950 and attended aircraft and engine school at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. His first permanent duty station was Parrin Air Force Base, Sherman-Denison, Texas.

His overseas tours include Japan, Korea, Alaska and Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and one sister, Edna Higgs.

Survivors include wife, Carol Helton, Shawnee; children, Tommy W. Danker and wife Connie, Meeker; Donald L. Danker, Tecumseh; Charles L. Helton, Norman; Alice M. Helton, Oklahoma City; Harvey R. Helton, Tulsa; one sister and brother-in-law, Virgie and Virgil Reichert, El Reno; nine grandchildren, one nephew, a host of friends and special friend, L.P.N. Sherry Staggs.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain John T. Gober officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Shawnee, 1102 W. MacArthur, Shawnee, Okla. 74801.

Darrell L. Chambers

Darrell L. Chambers of Tecumseh died Sunday at his residence. He was 51.

He was born June 29, 1949, in Shawnee. He was the son of Preston (Bud) and Helen (Vanderburg) Chambers.

Chambers married Kay Hancock May 23, 1970, in Shawnee.

He retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service and was an aircraft mover foreman for Tinker Field Air Force Base.

A member of the Oak Park Church of God, Chambers had lived in and around Shawnee all of his life.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Chambers, Tecumseh; children, Darrell L. Chambers and wife, Larissa L. Chambers, Shawnee; Christina L. Low and husband, Chris Low, Shawnee; grandchildren, Cassandra Dena' Low and Darrius Jordon Low, Shawnee; mothers, Helen Oxley, Tecumseh; Roxie Chambers, Shawnee; brothers and sisters, Don Chambers and wife Glenna, Shawnee; David Annanders and wife Joan, Oklahoma City; David Chambers and wife Vickie, Colorado; Terry Kyle and wife Judy, Wichita, Kan.; Tony Herrington and wife Diane, Wichita, Kan.; Danny Chambers and wife Donna, Shawnee; Dale Chambers and wife Jeanie, Shawnee; Cora and James Roberts, Texas; Brenda and Alvin Abbott, Texas; Donna and Mike Davis, Washington and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Leroy Kerbo and the Rev. Ron Baldridge officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

The family has designated the City of Refuge Children's Ministries, Brazil in care of Oak Park Church of God, P.O. Box 1202, Shawnee, Okla. 74801, as appropriate for memorials.

Marilynn Hilbun Landon Anderson

Former Shawnee resident Marilynn Hilbun Landon Anderson died Thursday in Henderson, Texas. She was 82.

She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Eastland, Texas.

For many years she taught English literature at Kilgore (Texas) Junior College.

Survivors include her husband, Clifton Anderson, longtime Shawnee Dr. Pepper bottler; three children, two stepchildren and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to University of Texas Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, c/o Dr. Charles White, 5323 Harry Hines Blvd. Dallas, Texas 75235-9073.

Mellie V. Murphy

Mellie V. Murphy of Shawnee died Sunday in Shawnee. She was 90.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home. Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery.

Further arrangements will be announced.

Roy L. Gentry

Lifelong Shawnee resident Roy L. Gentry died Saturday in Oklahoma City. He was 92.

He was born Dec. 13, 1908, west of Shawnee. He was the son of W.L. and Lillie May (Guisinger) Gentry.

He was educated at Dale High School, Central State Teacher's College and Oklahoma Baptist University.

On Aug. 28, 1930, he was married in McLoud to Rubye Ellen Roberts, who preceded him in death Nov. 1, 1981.

He taught school until he and his wife established their farm and dairy.

Gentry was on the board of directors and past president of the Southwestern Peanut Growers Association; past president of Dale School Board; he was chairman of the board and taught Sunday school at Dale United Methodist Church and was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge.

He also was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ernest and Earl Gentry, and one infant sister, Bertha Gentry.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Roellen and David Hasbrook of Edmond; three grandchildren, Clayton Hasbrook, Kelsey Hasbrook and Connor Hasbrook; brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Sarah Gentry of Shawnee; sister, Ada Marie Currie of Shawnee; two sisters-in-law, Ora Chancellor and Elwanda Gentry, both of Shawnee; two brothers-in-law and spouses, Willard and Wanda Roberts of Shawnee; John and Marcella Roberts of Wichita, Kan. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Dr. Bertha Potts and the Rev. Russell Currie officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee.
