Mahlon McKellar

Mahlon McKellar of Farmington, N.M., died Sunday. He was 81.

He was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Shawnee. He was the son of Mahlon McKellar Sr. and Gladys (Clark) McKellar.

He served in World War II and was in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. McKellar was a retired mechanic.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Tecumseh. He lived in Farmington, N.M., for one year and also lived in East Texas and Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother.

Survivors include three sons, Michael W. McKellar, Farmington, N.M.; Donald Edward McKellar, Edgewood, N.M.; Douglas Allen McKellar, Placerville, Calif.; two daughters, Laural Taylor, Farmington, N.M. and Pam; three sisters, Patricia Khrig, Mary and Ruth Bulin; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Rider officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

O.S. Stinchcomb

O.S. "George" Stinchcomb, 79, died Monday in Oklahoma City.

He was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Fayetteville, Ga. He was the son of Luther A. and Claudia (Hooten) Stinchcomb.

He married Billy Jo Byram June 30, 1945, in Ardmore. She preceded him in death Jan. 25, 1989. He then married Lorraine Thomas Feb. 10, 1990, in Chandler.

Stinchcomb lived in the Chandler area since moving from Shawnee in 1953. He owned and operated a John Deere machinery dealership.

He served during World War II and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Stinchcomb, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Tommy Bierman, Chandler, and Janet and Roger Owen, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Chandler with the Rev. Mike DeMoss and the Rev. Hugh Willoby officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Joseph Wayne Brinkley

Joseph Wayne "Joe" Brinkley of Tecumseh died Monday in Norman. He was 23.

He was born Aug. 15, 1976, in Oklahoma City. He was the son of Annette (Gaines) and Kenneth Hicks and Alfred Wayne Brinkley.

He was reared and attended school in Tecumseh. Brinkley had been a bricklayer since he was 16.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Janette and Sam Smart and two uncles, Wesley Gaines and Terry Gaines.

Survivors include his parents, Annette and Kenneth Hicks of Tecumseh; Alfred Brinkley of Erick; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shawna and Phillip Mee of Tecumseh; Regina and Robert Wakolee of Tecumseh; aunts and uncles, Michael and Loresa Gaines, Oklahoma City; Kathy and Steve St. Clair, Norman; Bille Gaines, Oklahoma City; Linda Sprinkle, Texas; grandfather, Bill and Johnita Gaines of Texas; two nieces, Autumn and Madison Mee; nephew, Bradley Presley and several cousins.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Brett McKnight and Bob Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Old Moral Cemetery.

A memorial has been established at BancFirst in Tecumseh.

Blanche Louise Kneeland

Blanche Louise Kneeland, 88, died Wednesday at a Seminole nursing home.

She was born June 1, 1910, in Lindsay to Marshall Madison and Blanche Ella (Folsom) Smith. She married Leo Kneeland. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church, and a longtime Seminole resident.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Kneeland, Hulbert, and Don Kneeland, Ramona; two daughters, Serelda Cody, Norman, and Kay Hutchinson, Lake Charles, Iowa; and 7 grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with Dr. Kelvin Moseley presiding. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Perthena Isabelle Wiley

Perthena Isabelle Wiley died Tuesday in Carney. She was 82.

Mrs. Wiley was born Nov. 3, 1915, to Sidney T. and Nettie (Kessinger) Wheeler. She married Oscar Glenn Wiley on March 19, 1935, and was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Wiley, Wellston; Thomas Michael Wiley, Meeker; four daughters, Leigh Ellis, Barbara Wallace and Linda Bruce, all of Edmond; Glenda Banks, Meeker; 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Carney, with the Rev. Van Page officiating. Burial will be in Carney Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 19, 1975.

Roy C. Greenlee

Retired Shawnee News-Star employee Roy C. Greenlee of Shawnee died Monday at a local nursing home. He was 68.

He was born May 21, 1932, in Shawnee to Albert Hamilton and Mattie (Evans) Greenlee. Greenlee retired from the Shawnee News-Star in July 1995 after 50 years of employment. At retirement, Greenlee served as the News-Star's circulation manager.

After retirement, he drove a school bus for Shawnee Public Schools.

Greenlee married Ruth Hendershott on Dec. 24, 1949, in Tecumseh. He lived in Shawnee all of his life and was a member of the Shawnee Bowling Association.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his half brother, his wife of 44 years, a nephew, and brother-in-law Ralph McLaughlin.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Connie Greenlee of Shawnee, Loran and Dana Greenlee, Shawnee; four grandchildren, Chad Greenlee and wife Stephanie of Stillwater, Cambor Rich and husband Jeremy of Paden, Chandra Greenlee and Cana Ruth Greenlee, both of Shawnee; two sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia and Porter Russ of Florence, Ala., Roseanne Abney, Shawnee; sister-in-law, Rachel McLaughlin of Tecumseh; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kris Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The casket will be open until service time and will not be open after the service.

John Cole

John "Robby" Cole, 38, Lexington, died Thursday.

He was born in Purcell on April 12, 1962, the son of John Roland and Frances Anne Cardinal Cole. He lived in Purcell a few years before moving to California. Cole grew up in Camarillo, Calif., and attended Rio Mesa High School.

On July 23, 1983, he married Terri Lynn Roberts. They lived in Ventura County, Calif., for 10 years before moving to Oklahoma. They have lived in Lexington since 1996.

Cole was a transmission specialist.

Survivors include his wife of the home; his parents of Shawnee; one son, John Robert Cole III of the home; one daughter, Crystal Cole of the home; his grandmother, Tessie Cardinal of Shawnee; two sisters, JoAnne Sander of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. and Lisa Cole of Norman; and several other family members.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Praise Cathedral Church in Purcell. The Rev. Todd Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Memorials may be made to Family Life Center at Praise Cathedral Church.

Lindsay Brie McKiddy

Shawnee High School graduate Lindsay Brie McKiddy, 20, of Oklahoma City died Saturday in Oklahoma City.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Shawnee. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Bell Charles Haney

Bell Charles Haney, Yukon, died Jan. 9. He was 63.

Haney was born July 9, 1939, in Hominy to Jess and Belle Big Elk Haney. He was of the Osage heritage.

Haney attended school in Hominy and graduated valedictorian of the 1955 class at Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Mo. He earned a bachelor and master's degree at the University of Oklahoma.

While attending OU, Haney married Leona Mae Lott of Hominy. After graduating in 1961, he worked with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

He later worked with the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs, moving to Anadarko in 1964, Gallup, N.M., in 1967 and Parker, Ariz., in 1969. He moved back to Yukon in 1973 and served at agencies in El Reno, Anadarko and Muskogee.

He was promoted to superintendent of the agency in Palm Springs, Calif., then returned to Oklahoma and headed the Shawnee agency, from which he retired in 1990.

Haney was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Wayne and Bill.

Survivors include his children, Cathleen Gibbany and her husband, Ken, Guthrie; Karen Fowler and her husband, Eric, Piedmont; Jesse Clayton Haney, Yukon; Quirt Charles Haney and his wife, Terry, Yukon; 11 grandchildren; sister, Oney Kay, Kansas; Sharon, Edmond; brother, Robert, Miami, Okla.; and stepmother, Aileen Haney, Hominy.

Graveside services were held Jan. 12 at the home place in Osage County.

Gladys Iola (Stidham) Goble

Gladys Iola (Stidham) Goble died Sunday in Chandler. She was 82.

She was born Nov. 16, 1918, in Chandler. She was the daughter of Willliam Floyd and Mary Ann (Robinson) Stidham.

She married Glenn Goble on Dec. 30, 1937. She was a homemaker and clerk at Hite Drug Store and a member of the Oak Grove Quartet.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Arthur, Glenn Goble Jr., two brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Lyndon and Amy Goble of Chandler; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Bruce Greb of Wichita, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Judy Goble of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; five grandchildren, Sherri and Gus Wilson of Piedmont; Ginger and Rusty Milam of Chandler; Kyle and Tennille Greb of Wichita, Kan.; Chauncey and Scott Harrison of East Windsor, N.J.; Devon Goble of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Tucker Wilson of Piedmont; one sister, Minnie Wakley of Chandler and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God Church, Chandler with the Rev. Doyle Seeley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.

Edith A. Montgomery Leslie

Edith A. Montgomery Leslie died Saturday. The longtime Tulsa resident was 66.

She was born in St. Louis on Oct. 7, 1934, the daughter of Don and Agnes Montgomery.

Mrs. Leslie had retired from Tulsa Public Schools. She also taught in California and Maryland.

She was a longtime member of John Knox Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Leslie volunteered with Assistance League of Tulsa, as well as many other organizations.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank G. Leslie, and her parents.

Survivors include one daughter, Laura Leslie Hare; one son, Glenn Leslie; one sister, Patricia Rummel; one nephew, Lance Kelly and one niece, Stephanie Heaps.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at John Knox Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Okmulgee Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore Funeral Homes, Rosewood Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
