Roy F. Robbins

Roy F. Robbins of Shawnee died Thursday in Tecumseh. He was 81.

He was born in Seminole on Nov. 5, 1918, the son of the late Elbert D. and Ola Mae (Fennel) Robbins, originally from Arkansas.

He married Tava Ingram on June 14, 1984.

Robbins was an ordained minister of the True Gospel Temple and a retiree of the federal government. He served in the U.S. Army in the 121st Infantry in Germany during World War II and received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one bronze battle star, the Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and American Theater Ribbon.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Bethel; Veterans of Foreign Wars; Disabled American Veterans; Hospitalized Veteran and Paralyzed Veterans Associations of America. He was awarded the Star of Loyalty from the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Earley, J.C., Ermond and Raymond; sister, Maggie Page; four grandchildren and stepson, Larry Ingram.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Rosemary and Harrel Thoma of Wewoka and Nina and John Iley of Midwest City; three sons, Donald R. and Carolyn Grisso of Ada; Jimmie D. and Klara J. Marx of Pennsylvania; David C. and Barbara Robbins of Tishomingo; four stepdaughters, Betty Lickliter of Veljoe, Calif.; Loretta and Bob Morone of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; Margie and Norman Shipley of Nipoma, Calif.; Diannie and Jeff Cash of Seminole; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Aline Thoma of Shawnee; 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Hurst and the Rev. Roy Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Seminole.

Joy D. Braly

Joy D. Braly of Shawnee died Thursday. She was 93.

She was born Dec. 12, 1906, in Maysville. She was the daughter of James William and Bertie D. (Keller) Wampler.

Mrs. Braly lived in Tecumseh most of her life and had lived in Shawnee for the past 15 years.

On Aug. 5, 1928, she married John Douglas Braly in Shawnee. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1970.

Mrs. Braly was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh and of the P.E.O.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Keller Wampler in June 1988.

Survivors include niece, Jan Russell of Kansas City, Mo.; great-niece, Julie Ripper of Kansas City, Mo.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. W.F. Crow officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Laura Mabel Spaugy

Laura Mabel Spaugy, 92, Shawnee, died Wednesday.

Mrs. Spaugy was born April 9, 1907, in Tribbey to George "J.G." and Effie (Lyon) Davis. She grew up in Pearson and Norman and attended Cloverdale Schools.

She married Dee J. Spaugy on Dec. 22, 1924. She lived in Midwest City for 44 years and had lived in Shawnee since 1998.

She worked for Douglas Aircraft in Midwest City for three years during World War II and was a homemaker. She was a member of the East Side Church of Christ in Midwest City.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Clayton Jones, Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Ronal O. and JimmaLou Spaugy, Dennison, Texas; sister, Opal Adams, Okmulgee; seven grandchildren, Linda Thomas, Shirley Stubbs, Bob Jones, Randy Spaugy, Debbie Boon, Nancy Steward and Donna Rigney; 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on Nov. 16, 1969; her daughter, Jean Stubbs; grandson, Ronald Dean Spaugy; four brothers, Clarence, Loy, Roy and Foy Davis; and four sisters, Clara Thompson, Willie Mae Spaugy, Virenda Davis and Ellen Davis.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with D.W. "Red" Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Jerry Jeff Moss

Jerry Jeff "Fatboy" Moss died Thursday near Bristow. He was 24.

The Oklahoma City resident was born in Ardmore Oct. 15, 1976, the son of Jerry and Lavena Riddle Moss.

He lived in Sulphur until high school when he moved to Shawnee with his family. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1995.

Moss earned his bachelor of science degree in business and marketing from East Central University in May 2000 and was working for Hardwood Company of Oklahoma City.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Calvin and Letha Moss and Noble and Lorene Riddle, and his brother, Matt Duane.

Survivors include his parents of Shawnee; brother, Mark Moss of Shawnee; girlfriend, Stephanie Phillips of Oklahoma City; and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church in Shawnee with the Rev. Ron Baldridge and the Rev. Leroy Kerbo officiating.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oaklawn Cemetery, Sulphur. Arrangements are under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home, Sulphur.

Effie Opal (Fry) Faught

Effie Opal (Fry) Faught died Friday in a local nursing home at the age of 85.

She was born in Asher on Dec. 10, 1915, the daughter of Everett and Ina Fry.

On Sept. 17, 1932, she married Oder F. Faught, who preceded her in death after 46 years of marriage.

Mrs. Faught was a homemaker and had lived in her Shawnee home for 21 years.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Billy Ray Fry and Roy Fry; son, Jimmie Faught, and grandson, Shawn Burgess.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Carleeta and Arthur Hard of Schertz, Texas, and Sue and Fred Nordin of Henderson, Nev.; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Mary Faught of Lenexa, Kan.; sisters and brother-in-law, Bonnie Hathcock of Shawnee, and Melba and Milford Bowlan of Shawnee; sister-in-law, Beulah Fry of Asher; daughter-in-law, Donna Faught of Arcadia; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Vista Cemetery, Asher. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Shawnee.

John David McCuistion

Macomb resident John David "Big John" McCuistion, 57, died Thursday in Shawnee.

He was born in Wanette on Oct. 6, 1943, to O.A. "Whitey" and Mattie Pearl (Baldwin) McCuistion.

He was reared in Wanette and had lived in Ohio and Texas. He returned to Oklahoma in the 1980s.

On June 23, 1962, he married Verna Lea Bailey in Konawa.

McCuistion owned and operated Rising Star Oil Field Supply Store in Texas. He was also a retired oil field worker. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam.

He was a member of the Wanette Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Earl McCuistion and Vernon McCuistion; and grandchildren, Kendyle Lea Ann Andes and Austin Thomas Coon.

Survivors include his wife of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Selena Ann and Doyle Tisdell of Tecumseh and Tresha Kaye Andes and Thomas Coon of Konawa; grandchildren, Timothy John Evans, Jamie Lea Evans and Melissa Kaye Evans, all of Tecumseh, Anthony Tyler Andes, David Geary Andes and Cheasa Rae Coon and Jarrod Jumper Coon, all of Konawa; brothers, Jim McCuistion and Eugene McCuistion, both of Oklahoma City, Jerry McCuistion of San Francisco, Calif., and Paul McCuistion of Asher; and sisters, Darla Smith of Oolagah, Shirley Lusk of Lancaster, Texas, Emma Dahlman of Tulsa and Ruth Corbett of Oklahoma City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Jerrel Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Wanette Cemetery.

Ester See

Ester See died Friday in Eagle Rock, Mo.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Further information is pending with Cooper Funeral Home.

Raymond Lee Blair

Raymond Lee Blair, 83, died Thursday at his home near Meeker.

He was born in Watson, Okla., Oct. 6, 1917, the son of Henry and Edna (Stafford) Blair.

Blair moved from Arkansas to Meeker in 1993. He worked as a cattle rancher.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, two sisters, son and daughter.

Survivors include his son, Ken Blair of Rockford, Ill.; stepson, Randy Miller of Meeker; stepdaughter, Rita Linker of Angel Camp, Calif.; sister, Juanita Blair of Chico Chica, Calif.; brothers, Albert Blair of Roland and Lonnie Blair and Willie Blair, both of Elnido, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at New Zion Cemetery, Chandler. The Rev. Michael Mitchell will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.

Nellie Mary Wyckoff

Nellie Mary Wyckoff of Shawnee died Thursday in Chandler. She was 90.

She was born May 7, 1910, in Chandler, the daughter of James Archie and Lula (Prough) Martin.

On Oct. 19, 1936, she married Fred Wyckoff in Meeker.

Mrs. Wyckoff was a member of the First Christian Church.

She lived in Shawnee most of her life.

Mrs. Wyckoff worked for the Ritz Theater for many years and also was a waitress at the Walcott Cafe in Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Shaw officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Hoyt Arthur Miller

Hoyt Arthur Miller died Friday in Stroud at the age of 74.

He was born April 21, 1926, in Newby, Okla., the son of Elba and Gailey (Smith) Miller.

Miller was a resident of Stroud since 1952.

He was affiliated with Miller Trucking business in Stroud.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

On June 15, 1948, he married Joan Yates in Oklahoma City.

Miller was preceded in death by his parents, son, Doyle Wayne; and three brothers.

Survivors include wife of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Bill King of Stroud; brother and sister-in-law, James and Bonnie Miller of Stroud; sister, Fannie Crain of Stroud; grandchildren, Laura Brooke Williams of Stroud, Kenny King of Wabash, Ind., and Rod King of Ponca City; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Stroud with the Rev. Joe Molencupp officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
