Fredna Christine Watkins
Fredna Christine "Jenker" Watkins, Newalla, died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. She was 53.
Tribal wake will be Wednesday evening at the Spoon family home. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Spoon family cemeteryunder the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel of Tecumseh.
She was born March 22, 1945, in Newalla to Fred and Lillie Mae (Polecat) Spoon. She was reared in Newalla and lived in northern California for 18 years before moving back to Newalla in 1989.
She married Irvin Lee Watkins Sr. in 1955 and was a homemaker.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1974 and her parents.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Freddie and Nora Watkins, of the home; son, Irvin Lee Watkins, Chico, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Flossie and Jodie Doussett, Marie Gibson, all of Norman; Dorothy and Al Rupe, Yuma, Ariz.; Shirley Simpson, Geraldine and Dennis Abrams, all of Newalla; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Spoon, Carl and Wanda Spoon, all of Norman; Virgil Little Charley, Steve and Jean Spoon, all of Newalla; four grandchildren, Fawn Lilgrass Watkins, Destiney Shae Watkins, Autumn Paige Watkins, and Melysha Raven Watkins, and many other relatives.
Wilma Mae Williams
Wilma Mae Williams, Shawnee, died Sunday in a local nursing home. She was 84.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Clewell officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. The casket will be open until noon and will not be opened after the service.
She was born March 22, 1914, in Broadview, N.M., the daughter of Thomas E. and Mazie (Mitchell) Burnett. She completed nurse's training in Clovis, N.M., and had a career as a nurse.
She married Raymond A. Williams on Oct. 8, 1938, in Blackwell and they moved to Shawnee in 1949. She was active at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and one brother, Thomas Burnett.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary Ann Martin Kessler, Euless, Texas; Carol J. Middleton, Aptos, Calif.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Burnett, Clovis, N.M.; Clinton Burnett, Broadview, N.M., and one sister, Pauline Campbell, Clovis, N.M.
Linnie Oliver Burk
Former Shawnee resident Linnie Oliver Burk died Monday in an Ada hospital at the age of 78.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Central Church of Christ of Ada with Bud Ross officiating. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.
Linnie Oliver Burk was born May 26, 1920, at Oil Center, the son of Columbus Oliver Burk and Effie Haggard. He graduated from Vanoss High School and attended East Central University and Oklahoma Baptist University.
He married Alma Hunter in Shawnee on Oct. 9, 1941.
Burk served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was stationed in England with the 8th Air Force.
He lived in Shawnee for 30 years and was retired as a civilian worker at Tinker Air Force Base. He returned to Ada in 1979. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Shawnee, Central Church of Christ in Ada and Ada Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Burk, of the home; daughter, Sharon Lynch, Arlington, Texas; three brothers, Hansel Burk, Ada; Joe Dale Burk, Corona, Calif.; Troy Burk, Battle Ground, Ore.; four sisters, Jewel Thomas, Minnie Duncan, Madie Flowers, all of Ada, and Ruby Mae Curtis of Shawnee.
Mary Effie Coley
Mary Effie Coley, Tecumseh, died Monday in an Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 78.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Romulus Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Phil Scarbrough will officiate.
She was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Romulus to Corbett and Estella (Bray) Coley. She married James Edwin Coley and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and three brothers.
Surviving are her daughter, Judith Campanella, Tecumseh; son, Jim Coley, Mission Hills, Calif.; brother, Bob Alsip, Shawnee, and many other relatives.
Paul D. Logan
Paul D. Logan, Shawnee, died Monday in a local nursing home at the age of 54.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Tiger officiating. Burial will be at the Thorpe family cemetery.
Paul D. Logan was born Aug. 3, 1944, in Cushing to John and Viola (Thorpe) Logan and was Sac and Fox. He graduated from Tribbey High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was a member of Shawnee Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a welder before his retirement.
Preceding him in death were his father and a son, Brandon Logan.
He is survived by his mother, Viola Logan, Shawnee; three sons, Michael Logan, Anthony Logan and Paul Logan Jr., all of Arkansas; five grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn Logan and John Logan, both of Shawnee; sister, Mary Logan, Shawnee, and many other relatives.
Charles Thomas Lilly
Charles Thomas Lilly, 90, Prague, died Monday.
He was born Dec. 3, 1908, in Sparks to Cornelius and Ellen (Hopkins) Lilly. He married Estella Warden On Dec. 3, 1930.
After her death, he married Rena (Anness) Watkins on Sept. 25, 1981, in Chandler. He moved to Prague in 1982 and was a farmer, a member of the First Christian Church, Prague, and a member of Odd Fellows Lodge, Sparks.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, on Sept. 15, 1977; his parents; three sisters; and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, of the home: daughters Eula Mae Bishop, Shawnee; Ellen Malinda Boydstun, Perkins; Lieuvinia Lewis, Tulsa; Norma June Felkner, Tulsa; and Letha Hanham, Tulsa; sister Fay Price, Oklahoma City; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler. Viewing and visitation also will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague, and from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday.
Services will be held at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague, at 10 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Kenneth Jones officiating. A second service will be held at Parks Brothers Chapel, Chandler, at 2 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Jeff Gill officiating. Burial will be in White Dove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Alice L. (Gibson) Pe–a
Alice L. (Gibson) Pe–a of Shawnee died Friday at the age of 59.
Born June 23, 1939, in Pink to John Gibson and Rose Marie (White) Pipestem, she attended Pawnee Indian Boarding School. She was a teacher's aide for 25 years in the Shawnee school system, and was a member of the teacher's association. She was a lifelong Shawnee resident and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Marie (White) Pipestem, and a brother, Billy Joe White.
Surviving are her father, John Gibson Sr., Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Jim Brown, Shawnee; son, Eric Pe–a, and his fiancée, Sonny Bustos, Shawnee; son, Lee Pe–a, Shawnee; sister, Helen Ramirez, Shawnee; brother, John Gibson Jr., Shawnee; five grandchildren and many other relatives.
Rosary is 7 p.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Massoth, O.S.B., officiating. Burial is at Tecumseh Cemetery.
Carrie Alta Robbins
Tecumseh resident Carrie Alta Robbins died Sunday in Shawnee at the age of 90.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reydon Community Church with the Rev. Alberta Helton officiating. Burial will be at White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
She was born Aug. 24, 1908, in Rankin, the daughter of James Riley and Emma L. (Bunyard) Barker. She was reared and attended school at Rankin and Reydon and had lived at Dumas, Texas, and Magazine, Ark., before returning to Oklahoma in 1975. She had lived in Tecumseh since 1977.
She married Roy Robbins in Dumas, Texas, on June 13, 1946, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Four Square Gospel Church in Dumas.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three sons, Marion Mabra, Laverne Robbins and Roy Wright; two sisters, Mable Barrett and Erma Barker Bozone; and two brothers, Emery Barker and Merril Barker.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Robbins, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kay and John Edgar, Harrah; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bernice Barker, Lexington; and daughter-in-law, Suzie Robbins, Dallas, Texas.
Zelma A. Rose
Longtime Shawnee resident Zelma A. Rose died Sunday at a local nursing home. She was 92.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with Dr. Larry Adams officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
She was born Aug. 10, 1906, at Saltillo, Tenn., the daughter of William Solomon and Mary (Creasy) Holland, and had lived in Shawnee most of her life. She married Harvel Clayton Rose in 1934 in Shawnee.
She was owner of Independence Manor Nursing Home, a member of Altrusa and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a son, Charles Rose; and grandson, Hank Rose.
Surviving are her son, Bob Rose, Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Muriel Rose, Shawnee; sisters, Tera Maners, Hermit, Calif., Erma McConnell, Tecumseh, and Mildred Fisher, Hartford, Ky.; grandchildren, Cindy Adams, Ricky and Mike Rose, and four great-grandchildren.
Wanda Hardin-Bouldin
Former area resident Wanda Hardin-Bouldin died Friday in Phoenix, Ariz., at the age of 61.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel with Charles Jones officiating, assisted by Quint Miller. Burial will be at Morse Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
Wanda Hardin was born Sept. 16, 1937, in Okemah, the daughter of Henry Hardin and Mary Deer Hardin. She attended elementary school at Morse and graduated from Mason High School.
She married Ron Bouldin on June 22, 1996, and was retired as administrator with the Indian Health Service. She had lived in the Scottsdale, Ariz., area for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gerald Hardin and Winslow Hardin, and sister, Joyce Hardin.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Bouldin, of the home in Scottsdale; one son, Bruce Yokley of Scottsdale; one daughter, Terri Yokley, Albuquerque, N.M.; six brothers, Bob Hardin, Dale Hardin and Van Hardin, all of Okemah, Ronald Hardin, Chickasaw, Marshall Hardin, Okmulgee and Carol Hardin, Longview, Texas, and one sister, Doris Sullivan, Okemah.
Anna B. Nicar
Anna B. Nicar died Sunday in Oklahoma City at the age of 92.
She was born Dec. 17, 1906, at Conway, Ark., to Martha and George H. Centell. She was reared in Wetumka and attended Mountain Grove School and Wetumka High School. She married Wallace E. Nicar in 1924 at Okmulgee and they made their home in Wetumka. She was a homemaker and had worked as a cashier at Ranch-O-Tel for 20 years.
She was a member First Baptist Church of Wetumka.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Wallace E. Nicar; an infant daughter, Vada Lee Nicar, five brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Patsy Nicar, Tulsa; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda LaRue and Calvin Howarth, Holdenville, and Wilma and William E. Heath, Meeker; sister, Edna LaValley, Holdenville; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wetumka First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Mollencupp officiating. Burial will be at Wetumka Cemetery under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Wetumka.
Elsye J. Wilson
Elsye J. Wilson, Edmond, died Saturday at the age of 106.
She was born Jan. 14, 1893, to James T. and Martha A. Boswell in Honey Grove, Texas. Mrs. Wilson was a member of TOPS, National Contesters Organization, was a past president of Business and Professional Women's Club of Shawnee and a member of Edmond's First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wilson, and a son, J.C. Higgins.
Surviving are a nephew, the Rev. Bill Reece and his wife Virginia of Wichita, Kan., and several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 4 p.m. today at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Baggerley Funeral Home of Edmond.
