Carl Ernest Fridrich

Lifelong Prague resident Carl Ernest Fridrich died Sunday at the age of 88.

He was born Jan. 12, 1911, near Prague, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Fischer) Fridrich. He married Mary Jane Pernicka on Nov. 30, 1940, in Prague. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from the City of Prague where he was a light and water superintendent. He was a 50-year member of both the ZCBJ/WFLA Lodge and the American Legion.

He served on the Prague Fire Department, retiring as chief, and was on the original Prague Civil Defense Team.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers, his twin sister, and a daughter, Luella Jane Fridrich.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Fridrich, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl John "Butch" and Ann Fridrich, Shawnee, and Wayne and Deanna Fridrich, Prague; daughter, Cindy Lou Fridrich, Oklahoma City, six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Rusty Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Czech National Cemetery in Prague.

Leola Lavada Lambert

Former Prague resident Leola Lavada Lambert died Sunday in Norman at the age of 74.

She was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Lincoln County to Oscar and Mary Ellen (Wilkins) Burchette. She married Joe Cecil Holik on Feb. 5, 1944, and he preceded her in death in 1969.

She married Ernest A. Lambert on Sept. 5, 1973, and he preceded her in death in 1981.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, and two brothers, Brian Allen and Joseph Forrest Burchette.

She is survived by one son, Bobby Holik, Prague; four brothers, Max Burchette, Jack Burchette and Ray Burchette, all of Meeker, and Shelby Burchette, Holdenville; two sisters, Barbara Ann Buoy and Carylon Sue Davis, both of Meeker; one grandchild, Amber Holik; and one great-grandchild, Isaac Holik.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with burial at Rossville Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Pearcy will officiate.

Hester McBride

Longtime area resident Hester McBride of Tecumseh died Sunday in a local hospital. He was 92.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Tecumseh Cemetery with Bill Blalock officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Hester McBride was born Feb. 28, 1906, in Warwick, the son of Marcilous Columbus and Melissa Ader (Winford) McBride. He was reared in the Stroud area and worked as an oil field pumper. He married Minnie Thompson on July 17, 1935, in Chandler and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had lived in Tecumseh for 30 years.

Preceding him in death were his wife in 1997, parents and several brothers and sister.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Patty and Jerry Smith, Choctaw, Larry Cochran, Harrah, Gary Cochran, Stroud, Tommy Cochran, Midwest City, Jerry Cochran, Jones, and Gerry and Guy Lewellen, Blue Springs, Mo.

Robert Leroy Ball

Robert Leroy Ball of Carthage, Texas, died Thursday at the age of 57.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Justin Jones will officiate.

Robert Leroy Ball was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Meadville, Pa., to Russell and Louisa Jane (Neff) Ball. He attended schools in Meadville and received a bachelor's degree in biology from the State University of New York in Rockport and a master's degree in zoology from The University of Oklahoma. He was an instructor of biology at Panola College in Carthage, Texas, teaching anatomy and physiology and contributing to his field of study. He published in more than 40 journals and made numerous scholarly presentations.

He was active in the Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles, a member of Oklahoma Academy of Science, Texas Academy of Science, Chicago Herpetological Society, National Wildlife Federation and National Audubon Society, among others.

He married Nan Ball and served in the U.S. Army. He was Methodist.

He is survived by his wife, Nan, of the home; daughters, Rachel Irene Ball, Norman, and Hilary Ball, Carthage, Texas; father, Russell Ball, and his wife, Gwen, Ormon Beach, Fla.; his mother, Jane Ball, Meadville, Pa.; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Jan Ball, Meadville, and many other relatives.

Billy G. Brumley

Billy G. Brumley, Tecumseh, died Friday in Midwest City. He was 61.

He was born Aug. 6, 1937, in Choctaw to A.M. Tye Brumley and Mary Collins Brumley. He graduated from Choctaw High School in 1956 and was at Cameron University for two years. He retired from General Motors in 1993 after 30 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, of the home; three daughters, Tamara Russell, Oklahoma City, Tonya Williams, Moore, and Kimberly Fields, Oklahoma City; his stepson, Paul Turman, Florida; his father, A.M. Tye Brumley, Choctaw; brother, A. Dean "Bub" Brumley of Choctaw; seven grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Choctaw First Baptist Church. Burial is at Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Paul D. Logan

Shawnee resident Paul D. Logan died Monday at a local nursing home. He was 54.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Thorpe Family Cemetery.

Richard Randolph Looney

Seminole resident Richard Randolph Looney died Saturday in Seminole. He was 78.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dwayne Bobbitt and Rev. Glen Pense officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.

Looney was born April 14, 1920, in Morgan, Texas, to William Radford Looney and Bloomer Ann (Pickett) Looney. He married Rosie Inez Williams on Sept. 8, 1976, in Odessa, Texas.

He moved to Seminole form Odessa, Texas, 19 years ago and was a diesel mechanic. He retired in 1989 and was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Inez Looney, of the home; three sons, Richard Ray Looney and Lonnie Allen Looney, both of Odessa, Texas, Frank William Looney, Oklahoma City; three stepsons, Richard Ray Selvey, Oklahoma City, Michael Edward Selvey, San Angelo, Texas, and Jeffery Shawn Selvey, Waynoka; stepdaughter, Kathryn Carlene Thompson, Oklahoma City; brother, Willie Ray Looney, Bebannon, Okla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Emil Dick Meyer

Shawnee resident Emil Dick Meyer died Friday at a local hospital. He was 91.

Meyer was born March 12, 1907, in Wellston to Bernhard H. and Lena (Whittkopp) Meyer. He married Helen Romberg July 24, 1931, in Enid.

He moved to Shawnee in 1914 and was employed by Gulf Oil Corp. for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the 138th Combat Engineers in Europe.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a life member of Veterans of Foreign War.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Meyer, Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, A. Lynn and Judy Meyer, Fountain Valley, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Kathy Meyer, Richardson, Texas; grandchildren, Mike and Mary Meyer and Jim and Julie Taylor, all of Richardson, Texas; Richard and Trisha Meyer, San Leandro, Calif.; Mark and Diana Ramacher, San Carlos, Calif.; brother, Fred J. Meyer, Shawnee; and great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Ryan Meyer, Heather and Michael Taylor and Drew Ramacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bennie and Willie; son, Jerry Meyer; and sister, Johanna Mize.

Services will be 4 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore and Rev. Sam Hendry officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

The casket will remain open until service time and will not be opened after the service.

Freddy Hopkins

Former Shawnee resident Freddy Hopkins, McAlester, died Thursday. He was 60.

He was born Nov. 24, 1938, in Paden to Tom Hopkins and Henryetta (Harris) Hopkins. He attended Shawnee Schools and was a precision tool maker for National Oil Well in McAlester for 10 years.

He married Kay Buckmaster in Shawnee on July 27, 1957. He was a member of the Golden Acres Baptist Church in Shawnee, and lived in Shawnee most of his life, living the last 10 years in McAlester.

Hopkins served the United States Air Force from January 1957 to January 1963, for which he received the good Conduct Medal.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his stepfather Les Harris, and a grandson, Keith Lincoln.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Hopkins; daughters and sons-in-law, Robert and Stephaine Cash, Shawnee; Jon and Melanie Zych, Rochester, Minn.; Ron and Kimberly Ellington, Springfield, Mo.; brother, Jack and Heidi Hopkins, Clarksville, Tenn.; sisters, Joy Gilley, Shawnee, and Pat Harris, Tulsa; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary Nickerson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Susie Ann Plunkett

Susie Ann Plunkett, Shawnee, died Thursday in a local hospital. She was 91.

She was born March 8, 1907, to John and Della (Lancaster) Nicholas in Little Rock, Ark.

She married John Allen Plunkett on Jan. 17, 1928, in Wagoner. She moved to the Shawnee area in 1943 and has lived in and around the area since that time.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Frank, Virgile, and Bill Nicholas; three sisters, Elsie, Geneva, and Marie.

Surviving are a daughter, Joy Plunkett Hubbard, Shawnee; four sons, Chester Plunkett, Loyd Plunkett and Kenneth Plunkett, all of Shawnee; Gene Plunkett, Dale; three sisters, May Eaton and Dorothy Stepp, both of Wagoner; Vada Tillery, California; a brother, Albert Nicholas, Wagoner; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Stella M. Goodnight

Tecumseh resident Stella M. Goodnight died Saturday at a Tecumseh nursing home. She was 104.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wanette Church of Christ with Bob Perry officiating. Burial will be at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Goodnight was born June 25, 1894, in Murphysboro, Tenn. to Charley and Minnie Smith. She married Jake Goodnight Sept. 23, 1910, in Gainesville, Texas.

She attended school at Mt. Zion and was a homemaker. She was a member of Wanette Church of Christ and a past member of the Rebekah's Lodge.

Survivors include three sons and five daughters-in-law, Dailey and Lenora Goodnight, Jenson Beach, Fla.; Jake and Bette Goodnight, Wichita Falls, Texas; Chris and Molly Goodnight, Asher; Nina Goodnight and Audrey Goodnight, both of Saint Louis; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on April 3, 1962; parents; two sons, Lemuel and Kenneth Goodnight; six brothers; one sister; three grandsons; two great-grandsons and one great-great-grandson.

Alma J. Bryce

Tecumseh resident Alma J. Bryce died Saturday at a Tecumseh nursing home. She was 95.

Mrs. Bryce was born Jan. 22, 1904, in Oxford, Ark., to Johnny and Martha (Harris) Webb. She married N. Earnest Bryce on March 28, 1920, in Oxford and they moved to Shawnee later that year.

Mrs. Bryce moved to Cushing in 1970 and then to Tecumseh in 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of Park Place Baptist Church in Cushing.

Survivors include one son, Farel Bryce, Winfield, Kan.; daughter, Marilyn Hall, Wichita, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Christina Bryce, Tecumseh; four brothers, Tom Webb, Eufaula; H.B. Webb, Cushing; Jeral Webb, St. Charles, Mo.; Robert Gibson, Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Mable Woodall, Cushing; Pauline Unruh, Wasco, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Cushing, with the Rev. Clint Dawkins officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Sunset Estates Nursing Home, 201 W. Walnut, Tecumseh, 74873.

Willa E. Terry

Shawnee resident Willa E. Terry died Wednesday at a local hospital. She was 94.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Terry was born March 7, 1904, in Union Grove, Ala., to James Franklin and Elizabeth L. (Windsor) Cadenhead. On March 1, 1930, she married Sylvester Terry, who preceded her in death in 1976.

She graduated from Sapulpa High School and worked for an abstract company. She moved to Shawnee in 1976 and had lived at Shawnee Sunset Estates Nursing Home since 1980. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sister, Edna Pawley, Miami, Fla.; three nieces, Beverly Bourland, Midland, Texas; Elaine Brockhouse, Miami, Fla.; Carolyn Baker, Nashville, Tenn.; nephew, Samuel Coil, Boise, Idaho; and many other relatives and friends.
